Landscape Feature Extraction and Floristic Division of Traditional Villages in the Minjiang River Basin

Traditional villages reflect the integration and collision of cultures from many aspects such as culture, function and site selection, and reflect the cooperation and struggle between man and nature. They hold outstanding historical, cultural, artistic, scientific and social values, and are important carriers of national culture. As an important birthplace of civilization in the southeastern region of China, the Minjiang River Basin has profound historical and cultural accumulation. The unique, diverse and abundant traditional village resources in the basin embody the Fujian traditional culture with distinctive local characteristics. In order to accurately identify the landscape characteristics of traditional villages in the Minjiang River Basin, the research first introduces the concept of landscape gene similarity on the basis of landscape gene theory, and quantitatively evaluates the similarity of traditional village landscapes, which reduces the influence of subjective judgment in the process of landscape gene extraction, strengthens the repeatability of the conclusions, and makes the results more accurate. Secondly, based on five batches of Chinese traditional village lists, field visits and literature review, 111 national traditional villages with complete data and well preserved in Minjiang River Basin are determined as research objects. Finally, based on the dialect and folk beliefs, the cultural characteristics of the villages are judged, and the landscape characteristics of the villages are described based on the characteristics of the residential landscape. Six types of indicators that can best reflect the characteristics of village landscape are selected to construct the index system. By calculating the similarity of each traditional village landscape and combining with spatial statistical analysis, the traditional villages in Minjiang River Basin are divided into 9 landscape regions and 4 landscape sub-regions as a whole, and construct the landscape gene map of traditional villages in Minjiang River Basin. Through the calculation of the similarity between the traditional village landscape and spatial statistical analysis, the traditional villages in the Minjiang River Basin are divided into 9 landscape areas and 4 landscape sub-areas, then mapping the landscape gene map of traditional villages in Minjiang River basin. The results show that there are differences in landscape gene composition of traditional villages in different regions in Minjiang River Basin. Based on the differences of landscape gene among traditional villages in Minjiang River Basin, combined with the administrative division and landscape gene similarity, traditional villages in Minjiang River Basin can be divided into 9 landscape areas and 4 landscape subareas which include Hakka courtyard area, Shaojiang Courtyard area, Central Fujian Courtyard area, Central Fujian enclosed building area, Eastern Fujian enclosed building area, Eastern Fujian mixed area, Southern Fujian compound area and Northern Fujian compound area, Northern Fujian gabled roof courtyard area, Northern Fujian mixed roof courtyard area, Shaojiang independent courtyard area and Shaojiang combined courtyard area. The similarity of landscape genes between two adjacent landscape areas was higher than other areas. To some extent, this is due to the role and influence of natural conditions, cultural customs and social economy in different periods. Among them, the natural conditions affecting the residence form and construction of the overall arrangement of the choice of material, culture affects the residential spatial structure characteristics such as shape, function partition, the social and economic conditions determine the scale and fineness of dwellings. Any change of conditions will produce different morphological characteristics of residential buildings, major historical events are important catalysts for this transformation process, which can accelerate or slow down the entire process. In the future, the research will take the major historical events that affect human activities in the watershed as the time node, analyze the development and evolution laws of buildings in different periods, and conduct in-depth analysis and exploration of this conclusion.

Evaluation method of the coordination degree between landscape protection and tourism development in the traditional village

Landscape protection and tourism development are a pair of contradictions in the revitalization of traditional villages. It is an important topic to study the coordination between them. This research reveals the interactive mechanism between the protection of traditional rural features and the development of tourism, based on which the evaluation model and index system of the coordination degree of the composite system are constructed. The result is illustrated by the example of the first three plots of traditional Chinese villages in the Gansu Longzhong area from 2013 to 2018. The evolution trend of the traditional village landscape protection subsystem, the development of the tourism subsystem, and the composite system’s coordination degree were analyzed. The results show that the coordination of traditional village landscape protection and tourism development composite system at the same base period gradually increases. Nevertheless, the coordination between adjacent base periods is at a low level. The increase in the synergy between the landscape protection subsystem and the tourism development subsystem tends to be the same, and the two subsystems are in a positive development that promotes each other. Based on the above conclusions, this research puts forward the coordination strategies and suggestions for the protection of traditional villages and tourism development.

Spatio-temporal characteristics of traditional village landscape pattern and its influencing factors from the perspective of tourism development: a case study of Huangcheng Village, China

ABSTRACT Tourism development promotes economic income and cultural protection of traditional villages, but it also disturbs their landscape pattern and ecosystem. This study is aim to explore the process characteristics and mechanisms of the impact of tourism development on the landscape pattern of traditional villages. Taking Huangcheng Village, a typical tourism-oriented traditional village as a case, this research selects four remote sensing images from 1995 to 2020 according to its key time nodes of tourism development, analyzes its landscape expansion and pattern change, and uses Geodetector to explore influencing factors. The results show that: (1) The landscape change mainly presents the non-natural landscape continuously occupying the natural landscape, and expands continuously around tourist resources in edge-expansion and leapfrog-expansion manner, among which the expansion from 2003 to 2011 is the most significant; (2) The dominance and connectivity of non-natural landscape are enhanced, and the overall landscape pattern experiences a “relatively complete – tending to fragmentation – tending to completeness” change process; (3) The dominant factors affecting landscape pattern have stage characteristics. The results emphasize the role of tourism-related socio-economic and policy factors in influencing landscape pattern, which is significant for the landscape pattern optimization and sustainable development of tourist-type traditional villages.

Characteristic analysis of village cultural landscape by Lian Li space information technology and three-dimensional modelling

Abstract At present, due to the traditional village landscape protection method being relatively single, resulting in the traditional village landscape tends to “homogenization,” which is not conducive to the development of the village cultural landscape. This paper combines spatial information technology and three-dimensional modeling to reconstruct the village landscape and analyze its characteristics. Low-altitude oblique photography technology is used to collect village landscape information from multiple angles and then combined with the 3D model imaging law covariance equations to form the landscape 3D model features and then complete the multi-visual 3D model information matching. Finally, through texture mapping, the 3D model is generated to match the color of the real landscape. Using BIM technology, the data is refined to address the problem of local defects in the landscape 3D reconstruction process. The proposed technology is applied in practice to analyze the spatial comprehensibility of the test village landscape, and the comprehensibility value R² is obtained as 0.317, which is a poor spatial order of the test village. The village residents’ actual landscape color perception of the town ranges from -0.0364 to 0.4566, and the expected range is above 0.7. The actual perception is much lower than the predicted perception, and the subsequent landscape modification should be close to the villagers’ expectations.

Study on the Synergistic Development of Chinese Traditional Villages Protection and Landscape Development Facilitated by Rural Revitalization

Abstract To establish the comparative advantage of rural development, the mechanism of policy environment on the synergistic development of village gardens is brought into play. In the design of this paper, the coupling degree model of synergistic development is determined by the degree of influence of the coupling elements of village conservation and landscape gardening on each other. The entropy value method was used to eliminate the difference in the scale between the index data and determine the weight of synergistic indexes. The Dagum Gini coefficient method was used to decompose the total Gini coefficient into intra-regional variance contribution, inter-regional variance and super-variance density, effectively measuring regional development inequality. To verify the actual effect of the synergistic development strategy of traditional village protection and landscape development, the results of the simulation analysis show that after the government of region A implemented the strategy, the peak wave of its synergistic development curve increased from 7.2 points in 2017 to 9.6 points in 2022, the total operating income remained above 45.16 billion yuan, and the index of livability and livability was higher than the weighted value of 0.64 on average. It can be seen that with the help of the rural revitalization strategy, the synergistic development of traditional village protection and landscape development can improve the modernization of the countryside and realize the natural symbiosis of the ecological environment and humanistic development.

The Spatial Characteristics of Traditional Villages and Their Heritage Protection based on Landscape Genes

The landscape genes are born from the genetic concept of biology and can play an active role in the internal mechanism and external expression of the spatial characteristics of traditional settlements. The landscape genes are the key elements to distinguish the characteristics of each type, and the emphasis on the causes of the evolution of material forms and spatial and temporal conditions can, to a certain extent, effectively help to study the regular characteristics of the traditional village landscape. Based on landscape genes, this paper studies the spatial characteristics of traditional villages and their inheritance and protection mechanisms, to construct a traditional village landscape genetic system and verify its scientificity by taking Huizhou traditional villages as an example. In order to provide some reference for the study of spatial characteristics of traditional villages and the inheritance and protection of traditional villages.

Construction of Ecological Landscape Environment in Guanzhong Traditional Villages from the Perspective of Rural Revitalization

In order to supplement and improve the landscape evaluation system of traditional villages and play a positive guiding role in the specific protection and development of village landscape, this paper proposes the ecological landscape environment evaluation of traditional villages in Guanzhong from the perspective of rural revitalization. First of all, the relevant national and provincial evaluation standards are deeply studied, and the comprehensive evaluation system of the traditional village landscape in the Guanzhong region is constructed by using expert scoring and an analytic hierarchy process, which includes 6 criteria and 25 indicators. Three typical villages of different types and different development stages, namely, village A, village B, and Village C, were selected for landscape investigation and comprehensive evaluation. The results show that the weight of village location and landscape pattern is the largest, that is, the most important. The second is architectural landscape, with a weight of 0.236, accounting for a high proportion. Then, it is the natural landscape and street landscape, with a weight of 0.1-0.2. Finally, it is the intangible cultural landscape and landscape style protection, with a weight of less than 0.1. The alpha value of the comprehensive evaluation questionnaire of the village A is 0.984. The alpha value of the comprehensive evaluation questionnaire of village B is 0.941. The alpha value of the comprehensive evaluation questionnaire for the landscape of village C is 0.986, which is greater than 0.8. Conclusion. This study makes a comprehensive evaluation of the landscape of typical traditional villages.

A Review: How Deep Learning Technology Impacts the Evaluation of Traditional Village Landscapes

Recently, the deep learning technology has been adopted in the study of traditional village landscape. More precisely, it’s usually used to explore the representation of cultural heritage and the diversity of heritage information. In this study, we comprehensively reviewed these deep learning-related literatures for the evaluation of traditional village landscapes. E.g., the landscape image recognition led by the pixel-level semantic segmentation algorithm and image feature extraction technology enable user-centred exploration and make cultural heritage digitally and visually accessible. By suggesting a analytic framework using the pixel-level semantic segmentation algorithm and extracting image features, we attempted to identify the physical attributes and spatial characteristics of traditional village landscapes and further simulate the value perception thinking of experts and the public. Besides, we analysed the impact factors and correlation mechanism of spatial attributes to provide a scientific basis and technical support for the protection and utilization of traditional villages.

Visual perception of traditional Village Landscape: An Eye Tracking Experiment

In order to objectively quantify the visual perception of traditional village landscape, 50 university students were recruited to make eye-tracking experiment of different landscape elements in the countryside and analyze the data to assess the attractiveness of different elements. Eye-tracking experiment quantifies the experimental information. The experimental results show that mountain and landscape structure can mostly attract attention of observers in actual observation process, but this result is different from subjective preference of questionnaire. By comparing the results of eye-tracking experiment and questionnaire, it can be concluded that the observation time of landscape elements depends on the proportion of elements in space; subjective preference depends on the observation time of landscape elements. Therefore, eye-tracking data can assess subjective preference of observers for the landscape, and then have a certain guiding role for the planning and construction of rural landscape.

Aceh traditional village landscape patterns as a way of adapting to the climate in modern housing

There are always certain considerations behind the presentation of architectural works by our ancestors, including the formation of traditional Acehnese village landscape patterns. The form of traditional architectural works reflects solutions to the environment, socio-culture, and technology of the supporting community as a form of local wisdom. This paper aims to examine the reasons for the formation of traditional Acehnese village landscape patterns in the past, and how they relate to modern housing landscape patterns in Banda Aceh City based on climate variables. A literature study was conducted to find out the elements and patterns of the village landscape that will be used as parameters to analyze samples of modern housing from three different areas in Banda Aceh City, namely the North, Central, and South. This paper concludes that the pattern of traditional Aceh settlements is formed from housing zoning, public facilities, arable land, and forests as village boundaries with a group pattern. This pattern is formed based on a geographical and climatic approach that is adapted to the contours of the land and building technology, resulting in a mitigation system against frequent storms and a cross-ventilation system for residential buildings. While the relevance of its application to the landscape pattern of modern housing produces different characteristics based on several adjustments to changes in socio-cultural, material, and transformed building technology.

Ecological Effects of Local Materials in Landscape Design based on Machine Learning

The local characteristic landscape is a way of adapting to nature, land, and land space pattern chosen by local people due to their living needs. With the in-depth development of the concept of ecological protection in China, great progress has been made in the cause of ecological environmental protection within the current urban area. This study mainly discusses the ecological effects of local materials in landscape design. It integrates geography, historical literature, landscape ecology, architectural aesthetics, and many other related disciplines. The basic knowledge of rural landscape elements is analyzed and summarized from all levels and angles. However, due to factors such as the contradiction between the urban and rural dual system, the large base of the rural population and construction land, the expansion of cities and the great changes in rural production and lifestyle, the rural living environment is faced with more ecological contradictions, which has become the bottleneck of the country’s overall ecological civilization construction. It comprehensively discusses and analyzes related concepts and theories, and optimizes the concept of rural landscape elements and the relationship between rural landscape elements and modern rural landscape design. It clarifies its classification and exemplifies the application methods of rural landscape elements. The second is to integrate and analyze the application of rural landscape elements through the investigation and analysis of excellent cases. It also compares the rural locality and studies the application of rural landscape elements and their shortcomings. Finally, the construction methods and application strategies of rural landscape elements in modern villages are proposed. Through the reasonable planning and configuration of the traditional village landscape, it creates a living landscape that can meet the actual needs of local people and an ornamental and experiential landscape that can meet the multilevel emotional needs of foreign tourists. This pushes traditional villages toward a benign path of sustainable development. The evaluation index of conformity between vernacular architecture and the environment reached 94%. On the basis of sorting out the problems of ecological planning and construction of rural human settlements, the article constructs the ecological adaptability theory of rural human settlement planning at the theoretical level. This study fully combines the advantages of local materials to build a beautiful village with regional cultural characteristics and ecological type, in order to open up new ideas for future rural planning and design.

Color Extraction and Replacement of Traditional Water Town Landscape Based on Visual Perception Theory—— Take Zhujia Village in Shijiu Lake, Lishui, Nanjing as an Example

Color is one of the important carriers in traditional village composition, which reflects the characteristic culture of village. It embodies the local attributes and characteristics of a village, carries the unique regional culture, and shapes the rural civilization. At the same time, the color of rural landscape also has strong regional characteristics, which is the external expression of rural landscape style, history and culture. This paper attempts to deeply interpret the color of rural landscape from the perspective of visual perception theory, focusing on the components of the color of traditional water towns. The thesis also extracts and designs the landscape colors of the traditional water village Zhujia Village, so as to build a traditional water village landscape integrating historical culture, fishing culture and multi-function. By analyzing the application of landscape colors in Zhujia Village, the thesis aims to create a beautiful and harmonious traditional water village habitat space.

Traditional Village Landscape Integration Based on Social Network Analysis: A Case Study of the Yuan River Basin in South-Western China

Traditional rural Chinese landscapes have fragmented from the impact of rapid urbanisation and modernisation. Aiming to address this tough issue, the Chinese central government proposed the Traditional Villages Project, which is top-down traditional village management and conservation policy. A traditional village landscape network (TVLN) can be used to integrate rural landscapes and ensure the unified protection of natural and cultural landscapes. This paper aimed to establish a method of building a TVLN through three main steps: the calculation of the connection strength of traditional villages, calculation of the tie strength between traditional villages, and establishment of a TVLN. The results demonstrated the rich layers and stable structure of the Yuan River Basin’s TVLN, but there was a hidden risk in its stability due to the existence of tangent and isolated points. This TVLN quantitatively examined the characteristics and relationships of traditional villages and provided data support for the approval of traditional villages and protection policy formulation. A TVLN can support the overall conservation of traditional village landscapes, enhance their comprehensive value, and promote the sustainable management and cross-regional protection of traditional village landscapes.

Data science based landscape ecology for traditional village landscape protection

With the revitalisation of rural areas and the advancement of new rural construction, at present, the traditional village protection has received more attention. The optimisation of village layout is an essential issue in the protection of traditional villages, which is not only an objective demand for rural development, but also an important way to protect and avoid damage to the ecological and landscape patterns of the original villages. With the increase in the development of traditional villages, the general scale and shape of traditional villages have found profound changes. The phenomenon of village landscape convergence and original landscape destruction occurs from time to time. In the new situation, the traditional village protection faces new opportunities and challenges. By using landscape ecology theory to guide the preservation of traditional villages, the integrity, authenticity and continuity of traditional villages can be maintained. This article takes Yueqing Town, Bailong Village and Shixian Town, Shuinan Village in Yanbian Prefecture, Jilin Province as the research objects, applying the landscape pattern index to quantitatively analyse its overall landscape. On this basis, the village landscape optimisation and preservation strategy is proposed, which has certain reference value for the preservation and reuse of traditional villages in Jilin Province.
