Ideas of acupuncture diagnosis and treatment of stroke sequela based on the differentiation of disease location

Through collecting the relevant records of "brain" in ancient traditional Chinese medicine literature, the potential structure and function of the "motor system of brain-meridian-muscle region" and "perception system of brain-meridian-cutaneous region" of the human body are analyzed preliminarily. In view of the characteristics of the symptoms of stroke sequela, focusing on the differentiation of disease location and associated with the identification of disease property, the pathogenesis of stroke is determined, "malnutrition of the sea of marrow, dysfunction of meridian muscle region and disharmony of the nutrient and the defensive in the meridian cutaneous region", while, the basic principle of treatment is formulated, "filling up the marrow, replenishing the brain, regulating meridian muscle regions, tonifying qi and facilitating blood circulation in meridians and collaterals". Based on the above, the acupoints selected in treatment and the techniques of acupuncture and moxibustion are clarified. This article presents the references for the clinical practice of acupuncture and moxibustion and provides the individual therapeutic regimen for stroke patients.

Plucking Heartstrings: Guqin, Aesthetic Attunement, and TCM Music Therapy

In the Chinese cultural context, music is deeply intertwined with the human heart and plays a central role in both healing and governance. Guqin, an ancient Chinese zither, exemplifies holistic care throughout history, embodying heart-based empathy and resonance. This study draws on insights from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), classic philosophy, literature, and aesthetics to trace a lineage of thinking that continues to inform contemporary music therapy. We examine the Chinese notion of xin/heart and the interdependent self, and how music facilitates individuals’ aesthetic attunement toward the natural and social orders. Our approach transcends limitations of Euro-American psychological paradigms centered on the psyche, by adopting a holistic perspective that emphasizes the interconnectedness of the heart, the body, and the cosmos. We argue for the necessity of moving beyond reductive biomedical treatment models to explore alternative ways of living and alternative care that highlight relational, moral, and aesthetic approaches to well-being.

The impact of non-mainstream rational values and irrational mainstream entertainment thinking is a group phenomenon under the diversified information.

Research on Emotional Analysis and Emotional Color Extraction Algorithm of Chinese Language and Literature Based on Emotional Computing

In China, the emotional response of diverse cultural bearers, including literature, movies, and other media, frequently mirrors the country's cultural improvement. Consequently, emotional analysis of the text and paintings may be used to examine the cultural evolution, determine its growth dynamics, and sort out its context. The project aims to investigate how well sophisticated affective computing performs in identifying and analyzing the emotional aspects of traditional Chinese literature and language. The study selects the Double Channel based Self-organized Residual Network-50 V2 (DC-SoResNet 50V2) algorithm based on a combination of deep learning algorithms and further improving the (DC-SoResNet 50V2) algorithm using Emperor penguin Colony optimizer (EPCO). Moreover, the color image and text features from traditional Chinese literature are extracted using hummingbird-based term frequency-inverse document frequency (HB-TF-IDF) and Stochastic Color Harmony Algorithm (SCHA). Comparisons are made between the proposed and standard approaches using the training and test sets, respectively. The training time of the proposed approach is stable at around 25.1 s, while the test time is steady at about 18.5 s. The emotion identification accuracy of the proposed method achieved average of 99.11 and 99.23% in testing and training sets for the entire datasets, respectively. Comprehensive analysis of classic literary works can be possible with the help of this research, which offers fresh viewpoints and theoretical references.

Integrated study reveals mechanism of Tripterygium Wilfordii against cholangiocarcinoma based on bioinformatics approaches and molecular dynamics simulation

BackgroundTripterygium wilfordii Hook. f. (TW) shows anticancer activity, and no study has comprehensively investigated the effects of TW in treating cholangiocarcinoma (CHOL). This study was designed to identify the therapeutic role and the mechanism of TW against CHOL to obtain anti-CHOL candidate components and targets. MethodsIngredients of TW were collected from the Traditional Chinese Medicine System Pharmacology Database and literature. Limma package and weighted gene co-expression network analysis were used to identify the genes related to CHOL. Enrichment analysis of Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) was performed by R package Cluster-Profiler and Metascape, respectively. Protein-Protein Interaction (PPI) network was used to select core genes in the treatment of CHOL by TW, followed by GEPIA2, UALCAN database, and ROC curves to assess their diagnostic and prognostic capability. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation were applied to explore the binding affinity and stability of the complex between the bioactive ingredients in TW and core targets. ResultsA total of 67 ingredients in TW were collected, and 495 genes were obtained as genes of CHOL. 55 common TW-CHOL targets were identified. 171 biological process terms and 100 KEGG pathways were enriched. 12 genes were regarded as core genes through PPI analysis, such as CYP3A4, CES1, GC, and PLG, whose good diagnostic and prognostic capability were identified. Ten ingredients were selected through the construction of Herb-Components-Targets-Disease network. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation both confirmed the good binding affinity and stability of the ligand-protein complexes. ConclusionThis study identified the therapeutic role and predicted the mechanism of TW against CHOL, where TW may combat CHOL through the regulation of metabolic conditions of the body, bile acid secretion, xenobiotics metabolism, and the inflammatory response. Celastrol, triptonide, triptolide and wilforlide A emerged as promising anti-CHOL candidates. So, this study offered a reference for the treatment of CHOL and the development of anti-CHOL drugs.

The Modern Transformation of Traditional Literature and Art under the Background of Cultural Confidence

Various cultural forms and expressions are facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities due to globalization and accelerated modernization. Chinese cultural confidence, as a national strategy and spiritual pursuit, plays a significant role in promoting the traditional Renaissance and modern transformation. The purpose of this article is to investigate the modern transformation path and practical methods of traditional Chinese literature and art within the context of cultural confidence. Through an in-depth analysis, the article points out that to achieve the modernization transformation of traditional literature and art, it is necessary to adopt strategies such as cross-border integration, innovative expression, and international dissemination. At the same time, it emphasizes the supporting role of education and technology in the transformation of traditional literature and art into modern times. Using case studies, the article illustrates the new ecology and trends of traditional literature and art in contemporary society, providing theoretical and practical guidelines for innovative development and international dissemination of traditional culture.

Anti-allergic effects of Ulva-derived polysaccharides, oligosaccharides and residues in a murine model of food allergy

The medicinal benefits of green seaweed Ulva have been documented in traditional Chinese medicine literatures. Sulfated polysaccharides found in Ulva are recognized as the primary bioactive compounds, known for their immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Despite this knowledge, the available information regarding anti-allergic activities of Ulva remains limited. The objective of this study was to prepare and characterize Ulva-derived polysaccharides (UP), oligosaccharides (UO), and residues (UR), followed by assessing their potential in improving allergic enteritis and gut microbiota in a murine model of ovalbumin (OVA)-induced food allergy. The immunomodulatory activities of UP, UO, and UR were evaluated by measuring the expression of serum antibodies, splenic cytokines and duodenal transcript factors of T cell subsets. The impact of UP, UO, and UR on enteric microbiota was explored by 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis of fresh fecal samples from treated mice. Oral treatment of UP, UO, and UR noticeably attenuated allergic diarrhea and enteritis. Additionally, Ulva samples treatment decreased serum levels of IgG1 and OVA-specific IgE while increased the level of OVA-specific IgG. Enhanced production of IFN-γ and reduced production of IL-4 and IL-10 by splenocytes were observed in the treated mice. In parallel, Ulva samples treatment led to a decreased number of GATA3+ cells and an increased number of T-bet+ cells in the duodenum. However, the population of Foxp3+ cells was not significantly altered. Moreover, treatment of Ulva samples improved enteric dysbiosis evidenced by an increased abundance of Lactobacillus murinus, L. johnsonii, and L. reuteri, and a decreased abundance of Kineothrix alysoides, Lacrimispora saccharolytica, L. aerotolerans, and Erysipelotrichaceae in feces. In conclusion, UP, UO, and UR, which could modulate the Th1/Th2 immune balance, alleviate allergic enteritis and improve enteric dysbiosis in varying degrees, are potential to be developed into therapeutic agents for food allergy.

The Metaphorical and Metonymical Conceptualizations of the Term Sea (Hai) in the Four-Character Chinese Idioms

This paper investigates the term “sea” (hai) in the four-character Chinese idioms according to conceptual metaphor and metonymy theory, attempting to illustrate their conceptualization, determine their possible underlying motivations, and explore Chinese maritime thought and culture. Based on idiomatic expressions, three types of conceptual metaphors are identified: abstract qualities of concrete entities are the sea, abstract entity is sea, and a certain aspect of a human being is sea. Moreover, the four types of conceptual metonymies are the part for the whole, the whole for the part, the place for the product, and the place for the responsible deities or goddesses. They are motivated by a culture of worship of and accordance with nature, the pursuit of achievements in traditional Chinese literature, “man paid, nature made” as the attitude towards the ups and downs of life, and a self-centered conceptualization of the world. The maritime culture represented in these conceptualizations comprises fear of and respect for the sea, harmony between humans and the sea, and static–dynamic integrations of river, land, and sea. The findings show that the motivations of these conceptualizations do not only originate from the embodiment and Chinese philosophy of the unity of heaven and humanity but are also constrained by the most influential talent selection mechanism, the Imperial Examination System, as well as by agriculture, the foundation of the economy in ancient China.

Dongpo dream machine: notes towards an exhibition

ABSTRACTThis article presents a concept for an imagined exhibition relating to the work of Su Shi (1037–1101), also known as Su Dongpo. A renowned poet and calligrapher from China's Song Dynasty, Su Shi stands out as one of the pivotal figures in traditional Chinese literature; credited with penning many of China's iconic poems that remain part of the educational curriculum in China today. The proposed project is situated within the historical sites of Hainan, an island where Su Shi was exiled near the end of his life. Taking a contemporary approach to heritage, the exhibition concept draws upon recent developments in artificial intelligence large language models, with the aim of enabling visitors to generate and explore ‘lost’ poems of Su Shi.

An Study on the Annotation of the Translation of Cultural-Loaded Words in Chinese Idiom Stories

Chinese Idiom Stories is concerning traditional Chinese literature, which consists of plenty of cultural-loaded words. Regarding the relevant classification, the culture-loaded words in source text are grouped into six types. By exploring the annotation of cultural-loaded words in translation, this paper presents three types of methods and three principles of annotation. To begin with, the author provides an overview of domestic and foreign research on annotation. In addition, the author analyses various definitions of cultural-loaded words and classification standards, and outlines his own classification standard. Last but not least, the author cites some examples for analysis and draws out the methods and principles of annotation.

The Implications of Foreignization and Domestication in Moment in Peking

This paper aims to review the strategies of Foreignization, and that of Domestication applied respectively in the creation and the back translation of Moment in Peking. This paper chooses the novel Moment in Peking as the research material for the original version of this work tells a Chinese story in English, being translated back into Chinese later. This uniqueness makes it worthy of studying the translation methods behind the two processes. The Chinese author, Yutang Lin, works as a writer and translator to complete this book. There are multiple examples of C-E translation regarding traditional Chinese culture. And the author adopts Foreignization most of the time. Transliteration is used together with extra explanations to convey the proper Chinese expressions to the greatest extent. For the Chinese version of Moment in Peking, the translator, Zhenyu Zhang, relies more on Domestication. The English version uses many free translations concerning proverbs, and the translator finds the corresponding Chinese. Also, in terms of the translation of the titles, the translator employs captions for each chapter, which is a stylish mark in traditional Chinese novels. The different approaches of Lin and Zhang have their own advantages. The former maintains the majority of pronunciations of Chinese culture-proper items, which are deciphered by following sentences. The latter meets with the expression habit of Chinese culture and the recognized format of traditional Chinese literature. Such cases may be helpful to the future translation-relating analysis of works that are written in the target language and translated back to source language.

The article offers an interpretation of the religious worldview of Kang Youwei (1858–1927). The basis of his views was Confucianism, with the ritual model of religiosity inherent in this doctrine; Kang Youwei also studied several areas of Buddhism from a philosophical point of view. In the treatise The Travelogue of Italy (1904), Kang Youwei offered an analysis of contemporary Catholicism from the standpoint of traditional Chinese literature, considered mainly from a political point of view. The Chinese thinker adhered to axiological relativism, from the position of which he perceived as equivalent any doctrines aimed at the self-improvement of the human person and the entire human society, al­though he did not approve of ascetic practices. Kang Youwei himself also claimed to be the founder of the dogma, although he was indifferent to ritual, and his sys­tem had an expressly philosophical pattern. The Kang’s key concept was Tao, which was revealed to the maximum extent to Buddha and Confucius. Kang Youwei considered the teachings of Mohism, Taoism and early Christianity to be approximately equivalent, and he considered the Catholic Church and the Papacy as a cast from the socio-political system of Ancient Rome, which were particular implementations of the Tao in specific cultures and historical settings. Kang Youwei argued that the most important provisions of the teachings of Pythagore­anism, Judaism and early Christianity were of Indian origin, introduced by Bud­dhist preachers after the conquests of Alexander the Great.

Hovenianin A Alleviates Hepatic Fibrosis by Inhibiting the PI3K/AKT Pathway in TGF-β1-Induced HSCs Based on Network Pharmacology and Transcriptomic Analysis.

Hepatic fibrosis is a global health problem, which currently has no FDA approved antifibrotic therapy yet. This study aimed to explore the mechanism of Hovenia genus in the treatment of hepatic fibrosis by an integrative strategy combining network pharmacology analysis, molecular docking, transcriptomics and experimental validation. The traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology (TCMSP) database and literatures were used to collect the components of Hovenia genus. Public databases including GeneCards, TTD, PharmGkb were used to acquire the putative targets. The GO and KEGG analysis were applied to explore the underlying mechanisms. Furthermore, The TGF-β1 induced hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) model were performed to evaluate the anti-hepatic fibrosis activity of Hovenia genus. The RT-qPCR, Western blotting and flow cytometry experiments were used to validate the anti-hepatic fibrosis mechanisms of Hovenianin A. The KEGG analysis of network pharmacology and transcriptomics revealed that the core targets mainly enriched in PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. The cell screening results indicated flavonoids were the main active ingredients of Hovenia. Hovenianin A, a bioactive bisflavonol, was validated to promote the apoptosis of HSCs by inhibiting PI3K-Akt pathway. Molecular docking further corroborated the binding sites between Hovenianin A and AKT1. In summary, Hovenia may have therapeutic effects on liver fibrosis by modulating the PI3K-Akt apoptosis pathway. Our findings may facilitate the development of Hovenia genus, which could help to treat liver fibrosis in the future.

Study on The Treatment of Osteonecrosis of The Femoral Head Based on The Classic Theory of “Blood Stasis Removal - Regeneration Bone - Fusion”

Objective Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) classics, this paper, by searching the literature on the treatment of femoral head necrosis with TCM, aims to explain the essence of the theory of “blood stasis removal - regeneration bone - fusion”, analyze the development of modern Chinese medicine in the treatment of osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH), and provide new ideas for the treatment of ONFH with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. Methods CNKI, PubMed, Wanfang and VIP databases were searched by computer to collect literature research on the theory of “blood stasis removal - regeneration bone - fusion” and the treatment of ONFH with integrated TCM Western medicine. Based on content analysis and bibliometric analysis, the modern integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine literature database of treating ONFH with the theory of “removing blood stasis and generating bone” was established and analyzed. Results Based on the theory of “blood stasis removal - regeneration - bone fusion”, this paper found that the TCM treatment of ONFH has the clinical effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The essence of the modern medicine of the theory of “blood stasis removal - regeneration - bone fusion” is to eliminate the microcirculation disorders caused by microvascular regeneration and hypoperfusion, so as to promote bone regeneration, which coincides with the treatment of ONFH by western medicine. Conclusions The theory of “blood stasis removal - regeneration - bone fusion” in modern Chinese medicine has a certain scientific and valuable value, which is worth more scientific research in the future.

A Corpus-Based Study on the Translation Style of Five English Versions of Fu Sheng Liu Ji, Vol I

Using a corpus approach, this article investigates the translation styles of the first chapter of Fu Sheng Liu Ji at three levels: the statistical parameters, the translation of culture-specific lexis, and readability calculations. It is found that Lin's version uses simpler words which makes it easier for the average English reader to understand traditional Chinese literature; while Wu's translation borrows to a great extent from the Lin's version, and its style is consistent with Lin's translation. The Pratt and Jiang's translation is the most annotated and readable by the average English reader. Sanders' version is centered on the source language, showing the translator's translation stance of spreading Chinese culture, with a tendency to move closer to thick translation. Black's version is more special in that the translator often imitates the author's tone to add cultural information to the original text. The main reasons for the very different styles of the five translations are due to the differences in the translators' social-culture backgrounds and the target readers.

Computer Multimedia-Oriented Chinese Language and Literature Distance Teaching System

The traditional Chinese language and literature distance teaching system has the problem of incomplete instruction recognition function, which leads to the slow connection speed of the system. This paper designs a computer multimedia Chinese language and literature distance teaching system. For the hardware part, strain gauge and sensor are combined, connected to VCC through 10 K ohm pull-up resistance, and connected to other components. The software part obtains the expression form of Chinese language and literature; formulates the training target, according to the antimonotone characteristics of the support degree; adopts the association rule algorithm to build the remote teaching system database, combined with the client to parse the signaling message; and designs the software instruction recognition function by using the computer multimedia technology. Experimental Results. The average connection speeds of the Chinese language and literature distance teaching system in this paper and the other two kinds of Chinese language and literature distance teaching system are 8.737 s, 13.140 s, and 13.156 s, respectively, which proves that the performance of the Chinese language and literature distance teaching system combined with computer multimedia technology is more perfect.

The Journey of Chu Ci in the Western World

<em>Chu Ci</em> is classic traditional Chinese literature. It has been spreading in the western world for more than one hundred years. At present, the dissemination of the gems in traditional Chinese culture is advocated. After a large number of relevant literature on the translation and dissemination of <em>Chu Ci</em> has been read and analyzed, the situations in various stages of its dissemination in the Western countries have been sorted out in this paper, and the quality and effect of the translation and dissemination have been introduced and evaluated. In this way, valuable experience can be found by summarizing and reflecting, so as to promote the current dissemination of <em>Chu Ci</em> in the Western world.

In search of a cross-level mechanism linking paternalistic leadership to employee voice behavior

PurposeDrawing upon social-exchange, social-cognitive and leadership theory, this study explores whether and how a cross-level mechanism connects team-level traditional Chinese leadership (i.e. paternalistic leadership) to individual-level voice behavior.Design/methodology/approachSurvey data were collected from 421 employees of 108 branches of four service-industry chains in Taiwan. Multilevel path models and hypotheses were tested using Mplus structural equation modeling software.FindingsOne subtype of team-level paternalistic leadership, benevolent leadership, was positively related to voice behavior, whereas another – authoritative leadership – had a negative relationship to it. Additionally, employees' voice self-efficacy and felt accountability each played a cross-level mediating role between team-level paternalistic leadership and voice behavior.Practical implicationsIt is recommended that team leaders behave benevolently, and avoid excessive authoritativeness at work, as this will tend to encourage their employees to voice opinions. Organizations, meanwhile, are advised to introduce training and development sessions aimed at improving both felt accountability and voice self-efficacy among their employees, so that such voice behavior can be stimulated and strengthened.Originality/valueThis study provides a useful social-cognitive analysis of the mechanism underlying paternalistic leadership and employee voice behavior, and specifically, reveals that employees' felt accountability and voice self-efficacy play a mediating role in that relationship. This extends understanding of the leadership–voice relationship and adds value to traditional Chinese leadership literature.

Mysterious Buddha, popular cinema, and the new Chinese film culture in the early 1980s

ABSTRACT Mysterious Buddha was one of the earliest commercial genre films made in post-Cultural Revolution China. Drawing from the traditional Chinese popular literature of chuanqi, crime thrillers, martial arts films, and horror films, the film was a smash hit with domestic audiences despite condemnation for its poor taste by many critics. The significance of Mysterious Buddha lies not only in its pioneering efforts in reviving the martial arts film genre in the PRC, which is the primary focus of previous studies, but—more importantly—in its ability to reflect the containment of popular cinema and the subsequent ascension of elite film culture. An unmistakable commercial “other,” the film represents a conspicuous departure from Socialist orthodox with its emphasis on plot over characters, native cultural relics over modernization, and bodily confrontation over intellectual engagement. The film was publicly denounced by many influential public figures but was eventually authorized for release. Its haphazard treatment indicated the emergence of a new film bureaucracy, professional institutions, and power balance while a new cinematic direction was sought in the changed political and cultural climate. This chapter reappraises the 1980s’ popular cinema represented by Mysterious Buddha and provides a case study to demonstrate the contested nature of nascent Chinese popular culture in the early 1980s.

Identifying Active Substances and the Pharmacological Mechanism of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. in Treating Radiation-Induced Lung Injury Based on Network Pharmacology and Molecular Docking Verification

Background Houttuynia cordata Thunb. is a traditional Chinese herb widely used mainly because of the pharmacological effects related to heat clearance and detoxification. Emerging clinical evidence indicates that the efficacy of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. on RILI is upstanding. Nevertheless, its underlying therapeutic mechanism remains unclear and warrants further elucidation. Methods The major active components and corresponding targets of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. were retrieved from the traditional Chinese medicine system pharmacology database (TCMSP) and literature review. The related targets of RILI were retrieved from the GeneCards database. Common targets among the active compounds and diseases were identified through Venn diagram analysis. Cytoscape was employed to construct and visualize the network relationship among the drug, active compounds, targets, and disease. The protein interaction network (PPI) was constructed by STRING. The reliability (the binding affinity) of the core targets and active compounds was verified by molecular docking. Results A search of the TCMSP database and related literature revealed 12 active compounds of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. against RILI. The core active compounds included quercetin, kaempferol, hyperoside, and rutin. Hub nodes including TP53, VEGFA, JUN, TNF, and IL-6 were identified in the PPI network. The GO categories were classified into three functional categories: 112 biological processes, 9 molecular functions, and 32 cellular components of the active compounds of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. The KEGG pathway enrichment analysis demonstrated the enrichment of target genes in several key cancer-related signaling pathways, including the cancer pathways, TNF signaling pathway, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and HIF-1 signaling pathway. Molecular docking analysis validated the effective binding capacity of the main active compounds with the core targets. Conclusion The main active components of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. have a potential pharmacological effect against RILI via the cancer pathways, TNF signaling pathway, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway.
