Correlation of Meaning of The Garebeg Mulud Traditional Ceremony Series: Sekaten, Gamelan and Tourism

The Garebeg Mulud celebration is one of a series of traditional ceremonies included in the Yogyakarta Palace Hajad Dalem event which is held annually. Garebeg Mulud itself is one of the celebrations of the Hajad Dalem ceremony whose series of events are quite long because, in the Muludan ceremony, there is a Sekaten celebration whose series of events lasts for 7 days. now many people interpret garebeg mulud as the same as the sekaten night market. at the same time, sekaten is only one of the series of events at gerbeg mulud which is full of meaning. this research aims to explain more about the series of Garebeg Mulud ceremonies and the meaning and philosophy embedded in each series of events from Miyos Gongso to Bedhol Songsong. This series of Hajad Dalem events is not only a celebration but ultimately also a tourist attraction for the community. Public interest in attending the Hajad Dalem ceremony is very high. This positive reaction creates a sense of love, and care and continues to preserve this noble culture

Research on Aesthetic Education in Higher Vocational Colleges based on Traditional Tea Ceremony

Tea is a traditional Chinese drink, which is not only welcomed and loved by the older generation but is also enjoyed by certain popularity in the world. From tea making and tea brewing to tea tasting in tea culture and tea etiquette, the tea ceremony with rising popularity is the subject of this study. In this regard, this study starts with the tea ceremony, hoping to find some innovative strategies for its integration into the process of aesthetic education in higher vocational colleges. This paper specifically discusses the core meaning of the traditional tea ceremony and aesthetics and points out that the tea ceremony is not only an art of life but also a cultural practice with deep philosophy. The study also points out its positive effects on higher vocational aesthetic education, including cultivating students’ consciousness of civilization and understanding of etiquette and developing students’ interests, hobbies, and specialties. Furthermore, based on the research conclusions, a series of feasible and effective practical strategies for promoting aesthetic education through tea ceremonies are proposed, hoping to provide more references for educators.

HUBUNGAN SISTEM KEPERCAYAAN DAN JENIS PEKERJAAN DENGAN TINGKAT PARTISIPASI NELAYAN DALAM UPACARA ADAT SEDEKAH LAUT DI DESA GEMPOLSEWU, KECAMATAN ROWOSARI, KABUPATEN KENDAL, JAWA TENGAH

Sea almsgiving is a tradition that is still consistently carried out in various coastal areas of Indonesia. As a relic from ancestors that has been passed down from generation to generation, it makes people believe in myths related to the phenomenon of sea alms. Sea almsgiving itself is carried out as a form of community gratitude for the abundant marine products as well as gratitude for the safety and blessings that have been given by God Almighty in carrying out activities as fishermen. The first aim of this research is to determine the level of trust of the fishing community towards sea alms ceremonies, the second is to determine the income level of fishermen in Gempolsewu Village and the third is to determine the relationship between belief systems and type of work on fishermen's participation in traditional sea alms ceremonies. in Gempolsewu village, Rowosari District, Kendal Regency, Central Java. This research uses quantitative research methods, in determining the population the researcher uses sampling techniques and uses survey techniques for data collection. The results of this research state that the fishing community's level of trust in the sea alms ceremony is in the high category, while the fishing community's income level is in the medium category. The relationship between belief system and type of work does not show a significant relationship with fishermen's participation in the traditional sea alms ceremony in Gempolsewu village, Rowosari District, Kendal Regency, Central Java.

Metaphor of Seloko Adat in Merangin

This research clarifies about the kinds of methapors that found in the” seloko Adat” traditional ceremonies in merangin culture This research applied descriptive qualitative research in which the data are obtained from seloko adat in traditional ceremony. it took from Lubuk Bumbun village in Merangin regency. The data are collected by observational method supported by note-taking and interview technique. After analyzing the data, it is found that there are 10 metaphors included into three from four kinds of methapor. The result of the research showed there are animistic, synaesthetic and concret to abstreact of methapor. Animistic metaphor dominant exist in seloko adat traditional ceremonies on Merangin culture .The meaning of each metaphor is understood in light of the current situation.

Kedudukan Perempuan dalam Upacara Adat Perkawinan Orang Tolaki di Desa Mendikonu Kecamatan Amonggedo Kabupaten Konawe

This study explores the role of women in the Tolaki traditional marriage ceremony and the perspectives of men and women on this role. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive method and draws on socialist feminism theory. The findings reveal that women play a crucial role in various stages of the marriage customs. For instance, during the Mondutudu or proposal stage, the mother of the male/female side accompanies the family during the proposal. After the proposal, the bride-to-be is guided by a Tono Motuo or Female Traditional Leader, often the grandmother, who provides valuable advice for the future household. Additionally, women play a central role during the engagement ceremony, as they arrange for the treat of sekapur sirih Kalo Sara. The male party presents this treat through the Pabitara, which is then received by the woman. These customs highlight the important role women have in the Tolaki traditional marriage ceremony.

Analisis Adat Hole di Kabupaten Sabu-Raijua Menurut Hukum Pidana

Customs are eternal codes of conduct that are passed down from one generation to another as a legacy, so that they are strongly integrated with community behavior patterns. Hole is a traditional ceremony that is very popular among the people of Sabu-Raijua which is carried out en masse. But there are still many outsiders and also the people of Sabu Raijua who consider chicken spurs to be gambling. Indonesia is a country based on law, so that every human or community activity which is a life activity must be based on existing regulations and norms that apply in society. The formulation of the problem in this research is, based on the background description above, the main problem studied by the author is formulated as follows: Does the Hole custom conflict with the rules of Criminal Law? This research uses empirical legal research methods sourced from data obtained directly in the form of information and opinions from respondents, namely traditional elders and the community in Sabu-Raijua Regency. The results of the research show that the cockfighting ritual in the hole tradition is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation, which is a sacred ritual that conveys a message of peace to the next generation. They believe that if this ritual is not carried out then human life will be far from disputes and quarrels, humans will live in prosperity both with each other and with their ancestors as well as the land, the livestock they cultivate will give good results. However, in the last 2 years the cockfighting ritual is no longer just a tradition, because now people are using the Pei'uManu (Cockfighting) tradition as a means of gambling.

In this article, the authors consider family values through the prism of preserving intangible cultural heritage as the most important conditions for the harmonious development of modern Russian and Kazakh society. The authors analyzed the legal framework with an emphasis on examples of traditional wedding ceremonies among the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan. In conclusion, it is concluded that the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan is an important component of saving family values.

Traditional Wisdom of Malay Community in Coal Songket Cloth in Padang Ginting Village, Talawi District, Coal District

This study explains the traditional wisdom of the Malay community in manufacturing and using Coal songket cloth in Padang Ginting Village, Talawi District, Batu Bara Regency. Songket Batu Bara is a cultural heritage with high historical and aesthetic value. The purpose of this study is to explore, traverse, and understand the practice of making songket cloth, as well as the important role of this fabric in the lives of local people. Research methods used include ethnography, interviews, and documentation. The study results revealed that the Malay community in Padang Ginting Village has inherited knowledge and expertise in making coal songket cloth for generations. The process of making this songket involves many stages that require high skill and accuracy. Apart from being a traditional dress, the coal songket also has social and cultural significance in traditional ceremonies and local celebrations. The results of this study provide insight into the traditional wisdom of the Malay community in preserving cultural heritage and unique handicraft arts. A deeper understanding of Coal songket can make a positive contribution to maintaining the sustainability of the traditions and cultural richness of the Malay community in the area.

Ngalaksa Traditional Ceremony as a Local Wisdom to Maintain Community Social Interaction

The Ngalaksa traditional ceremony is a legacy of the Rancakalong people's ancestors through their traditional arts. It is carried out as a form of gratitude for the harvest. This cultural activity can positively impact the community and the local government. It can be an event that can foster noble values in society, such as strengthening family relationships between communities. However, the potential of Ngalaksa traditional ceremony has not been exploited optimally. If managed wellit can become a cultural tourist attraction with the concept of cultural advancement. This research aims to reveal the values of local wisdom in the community through the traditional Ngalaksa ceremony. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a case study, this research was conducted in Nagarawangi Village, Rancakalong District, Sumedang Regency. The data were collected using in-depth interviews and observations to explain the research object factually. In addition, literature studies, document searches and field notes were also carried out. The data were validated using triangulation techniques. This research reveals the values of the Ngalaksa tradition, which presents the concept of interaction between humans, nature, and God, wrapped in a traditional ceremony. Hopefully, this research will be a conservation effort through community cultural customs activities to become a tourism potential and improve community welfare.

Irresistible Invitations: Relational Possibilities in Collaborative Tea Experience

Abstract This arts-based research study investigates the relational possibilities afforded by shared experience when participants are invited to collaborate in a tea gathering. Inspired by Japanese tea ceremony tradition and the relations of host and guests, who demonstrate mutual respect and appreciation through prescribed gestures, the author aims to translate and make more accessible the relational possibilities of this practice by inviting guests to collaborate and co-create the experience. Through these gatherings, participant-collaborators explore the interplay of relational potential, sensory experience, and collaboration. This article considers how the relational dynamics of host and guest can have implications for art education when the teacher is understood as a host to student-guests in interdependent roles.

Identifikasi Etnosains Pada Kerajinan Anyaman Okomama Dengan Pewarna Alami Tanaman Nila Di Desa Noesiu

Ethnoscience is an approach to science learning that implements local wisdom (regional culture) using certain cultural products. Local wisdom can be in the form of food and drink, traditional ceremonies, dances, games, traditional language and traditional weaving. One of the traditional woven based local wisdom is okomama. Traditional woven okomomama made from palm leaves using indigo plants as a natural dye for motifs and color patterns. The purpose of this study is to explore physical concepts in the process of okoma weaving. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research in the form of interviews, field observations and documentation. The research data was analyzed in several stages, namely data reduction, display data and conclusions. This study aims to identify physics objects and concepts that can be found in genius-based local science learning. The results of the study obtained that in the process of making natural dyes in ocomoma matting there are physical concepts identified in the concepts of frictional force, material strength, load distribution, pressure, work, energy, temperature, heat, absorption, reflection of light, and change of form.

The Values of Islamic Education in the Traditional Wedding Ceremony of the Karo Tribe

This study aims to analyze what processions are relevant to Islamic education's values and the values of Islamic education in traditional ceremonies of the Karo tribe in Aji Baho Village, Biru-Biru District, Deli Serdang Regency. This research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The source of the data used is primary data collected directly by researchers, namely data obtained from informants, namely the Head of Aibaho Village, Community Leaders of Ajibaho Village, Several People of Ajibaho Village, Biru-Biru District, Deli Serdang Regency. The secondary data are village archives, records of observations, and several other documents related to research in Ajibaho village, Biru-Biru District, Deli Serdang Regency. The results of the study were. First, the procession was divided into 2, namely pre-marriage (the stage of nungkuni kata, ngembah belo selembar, nganting manuk) and the wedding procession (process rose, reconnaissance pedah-pedah / luah, prayer congratulations, traditional work perjabun singuda, belo selembar, man bersama and man sepiring) and second, the value of education in ceremonies that contain the value of tawhid, worship, morals, ukhuwah. According to the researchers' analysis, the procession and the value of education at the ceremony contain prayers, hopes for happiness, health, cheap sustenance, active effort, and obedience to worship. The value of Islamic education in the Karo tribal wedding ceremony can be seen in two processes: the premarital and when the wedding occurs.

Acculturation of Javanese culture with Islamic culture in the month of Muharrom in Brayo Village Wonotunggal Batang

Nyadran is a series of traditional ceremonies, which are part of cultural heritage and believe that certain places are sacred or holy places. Nyadran traditions like this are a from of salvation carried out as a from of gratitude and respect for ancestors. The data collection technique used in this research was interviews with the main sources, the head of the Nyadran committee and the of Brayo village. The location of this research was in Ujung Biru Hamlet, Brayo Village, Wonotunggal District. Nyadran activities in Ujung Biru Hamlet are held in the month of Muharrom because Muharrom is not the Hijri New Year. Nyadran implementation in Brayo Village has been carried out since ancient times, as time goes by, the nyadran tradition has undergone many changes.

The Meaning of Mangolusi in The Batak Toba Wedding Ritual

This study explores how the meaning of Mangulosi in the traditional wedding rituals of the Batak Toba people is deeply explored and uses ethnographic communication theory to present the wedding customs of the Toba Batak people. (Hymes in Kuswarno 2008: 22) and the constructivist paradigm. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, documentation, literature review, combination/triangulation and sources. The researcher used the traditional Toba Batak marriage subject, namely Mangulosi, as a data source to analyze the series of questions asked in the study with reference to the theory used. Research findings show that the traditional marriage landscape is in disarray. Toba Batak is a sacred custom that all members of the Toba Batak community perform or must perform, both at the time of marriage and after death. As for , the event begins with a marriage proposal from the groom's family (first her ) to the bride's family. Traditional Wedding the Mangulosi event at Batak Toba begins with a marriage proposal from the groom's family to a woman from the bride's family. Thereafter, the wedding continued as a regular wedding until the end of Event. Regarding weddings, there is a gift piece Uros Cross given by the groom to the bride. This matter is a symbol of love for a life partner, and also has other meanings, namely, getting acquainted with or uniting with a formal family that takes care of the marriage. The History Of Palang Pintu As A Local Cultural Value Became An Icon Of Betawi Traditional Weddings

This research aims to examine the history and symbolic meaning of the doorstop as a local cultural value which has become an icon in traditional Betawi weddings. The doorstop is an important element in traditional Betawi wedding ceremonies, which have existed since the 19th century and function as a symbol of unity and agreement between two families. Through a historical and qualitative approach, this research found that doorstops not only act as physical barriers, but also have a deep meaning that reflects the values ​​of family, togetherness, and respect for ancestral traditions. This research also shows that although the basic shape of doorstops remains consistent, there are variations in design and decoration that reflect the changing aesthetics and tastes of modern Betawi society. The research results emphasize the importance of preserving local cultural values ​​such as doorstops in facing the flow of globalization and modernization. A deep understanding of the history and meaning of doorstops can increase public appreciation for Betawi cultural values ​​and encourage conservation measures by the government and cultural organizations. Thus, the doorstop is not only a ritual element in a traditional Betawi wedding, but also a cultural symbol that is rich in meaning and important for maintaining the identity and cultural heritage of the Betawi people. This research highlights the need for concerted efforts in preserving and promoting this tradition so that it remains alive and appreciated by future generations.

Indexicality of apem cake at the Kirab Apem Sewu traditional ceremony in Sewu Village, Surakarta City, Central Java, Indonesia

Traditional food owned by a community group is one of their cultural identities. These foods can be introduced through various techniques and activities, one of which is through traditional ceremonies or carnivals (Jv: Kirab). This study aimed to describe the meaning of traditional food, particularly apem cake served in Kirab Apem Sewu, a tradition in Sewu Village, Jebres, Surakarta City, Indonesia. The analysis in this study focused on the philosophical meaning of the apem cake. The data in this study were collected through indepth interviews to obtain detailed information. The collected data was then analyzed using an interactive method, including data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The apem cake used in Kirab Apem Sewu was prepared from high-quality ingredients, such as rice flour, Saccharomyces yeast, and brown sugar. Apem cake makers must also meet specific requirements, like being female and pristine, which means she must be menopausal or not menstruating at the time of production. Apem cake in the Kirab Apem Sewu tradition symbolizes an apology, freeing the soul from misfortunes, gratitude, and unifying religious communities. Besides apem cake, there are also complementary materials, mostly underground crops (Jv: pala pendhem), such as cassava, potatoes, sweet potatoes, elephant foot yam, peanuts, and other typical fruit, like Saba/kepok banana.

Biological resources utilization in grebeg maulud ceremony in Surakarta City, Indonesia

Asian J Ethnobiol 7: 43-49. Indonesia is a country of diverse nature, culture, and traditions in each region. Implementing traditional ceremonies is closely related to utilizing natural resources, both plants and animals, in the surrounding area. The sekaten or grebeg maulud is a ceremony which is often held every month of Rabi'ul Awal, involves gunungan elements in the form of crops contested by the community. This research was conducted in Surakarta City, Central Java, Indonesia, from November to December 2023, in Mojosongo Village, Keprabon Village, and Baluwarti Village. This study aims to determine the understanding of the community regarding the grebeg maulud ceremony, identify the biodiversity used in grebeg maulud, and determine the utilization of these resources in people's lives. The methods used in this research are survey methods, group discussions, ethnographic studies, key informant interviews, and the surrounding community interviews. The important thing that becomes the basis of this research is the utilization of crops by the surrounding community, which is calculated using the Index of Cultural Significance (ICS) value calculation. People in Mojosongo, Keprabon, and Baluwarti Villages utilize several species for grebeg maulud activities, including 2 species of fauna and 19 species of flora. The parts of the fauna utilized are eggs and meat; the most utilized part of the flora is the fruit.

Message in the Traditional Pakpak Ethnic Ncayur Tua Ceremony

In this research the author discusses the messages in the Pakpak Ethnic Old Ncayur Traditional Ceremony. The meaning of the Pakpak ethnic Ncayur Tua ceremony is a death ceremony which is carried out when a person dies at an old age, is married, and all of his children are married. This research aims to determine the stages of implementation of the Pakpak ethnic Ncayur Tua ceremony and the messages contained in the Pakpak ethnic Ncayur Tua ceremony. The method used in analyzing this research problem is a qualitative method. This research uses the message theory proposed by Leech. The results of the research found that the stages involved in the Ncayur Tua traditional ceremony are: (1) tenggo raja (deliberation); (2) Puffing the Perdendang (musician who beats the drum); (3) Entering Bangke Mirumahna (putting the corpse in a coffin); (4) Tatak Ipas Ncayur Tua (dancing during the Ncayur Tua ceremony); (5) Mengkerboi (buffalo slaughter); and (6) Peberkatten Bangke Mi Pendebaen (departing the body to its final resting place). Apart from that, the messages contained in the Ncayur Tua Ethnic Pakpak traditional ceremony are: (1) expressive messages; (2) directive messages; (3) commissive messages; (4) representative message; and (5) declarative messages. Improving Social Relations Between Students Through Learning Dayak Music Ensembles Using the Peer Tutor Method

Preserving Dayak culture and developing musical abilities among the younger generation are important aspects in the revitalization of society. Learning Dayak music ensembles can help students to improve their social skills more effectively, so that they can be more calm, focused and productive in making music. This research used a qualitative descriptive method involving first semester students of the Performing Arts Education Study Program. Dayak music ensemble learning is carried out once a week. This learning includes theoretical and practical material for playing Dayak musical instruments, such as dau, gedobokng and agukng. These three instruments are often found in accompanying music for Dayak traditional ritual ceremonies. Learning activities take the form of exercises in ensemble format so that in the process students need to interact and socialize in order to be able to play music correctly. The development of students' social skills is obtained through observation, interviews and documents. Data analysis shows that the peer tutoring method makes a significant contribution to the development of social skills among students. This technique is used to determine aspects of social abilities, such as the ability to communicate, collaborate, leadership and responsibility effectively. The findings of this research contribute to the development of structured Dayak music ensemble learning strategies to improve students' social abilities which are reflected in aspects of social sensitivity, the emergence of a sense of empathy and self-confidence. Additionally, these findings highlight the transformative power of peer mentoring in fostering social-emotional development and musical skills.

Makna Simbolik dan Nilai Kearifan Lokal dalam Tradisi Meron di desa Sukolilo Kabupaten Pati

The Meron tradition in Sukolilo Village, Pati Regency, is a unique celebration which aims to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW every 12 Robiul Awal. Similar to the Sekatenan traditions of the Surakarta Palace and the Ngayogyakarta Palace, the Meron tradition contains symbolic meaning and local wisdom values that have an impact on aspects of people's lives. This research used a qualitative descriptive method involving participants from the Sukolilo Village community. The research results show that the Meron tradition has symbolic meaning which includes religious aspects, da'wah, community harmony and cultural preservation. Values such as religious, social, artistic and economic are reflected in the implementation of this tradition. Conservation efforts are carried out through active community participation in holding traditional ceremonies every year, with a focus on protecting, developing and utilizing local culture. Ethics in the Meron ceremony is the key to continuity between generations, ensuring that cultural heritage remains alive and well maintained. The Meron tradition is not just a celebration, but also a cultural heritage full of meaning and value. Efforts to preserve it are important to ensure the sustainability and meaningfulness of this tradition in the lives of the people of Sukolilo Village, Pati Regency.
