Pagar Alam City Cultural Tourism Development Strategy

This research aims to find out what is the right strategy to develop cultural tourism in the city of Pagar Alam, by identifying and analyzing cultural tourism development strategies in the area. The techniques used in this research are qualitative descriptive and SWOT analysis. To collect data in the field the author carried out observations, interviews and documentation. The aim of this research is to increase public awareness about Pagar Alam culture, increase the quantity and quality of tourists coming to the area, increase regional income and increase the community's ability to develop cultural tourism.

Cooperative Societies as a Sustainable Legislative Aspect of the Establishment of a Dispersed Hotel

Abstract Dispersed hotels, characterized by their decentralized accommodation facilities integrated into existing structures of historical or cultural significance, have emerged as a sustainable alternative to traditional centralized hotels. This study explores the role of cooperative societies as a legislative and organizational framework for establishing and managing dispersed hotels. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzes case studies from Europe where cooperative models have successfully facilitated the integration of dispersed hotels into local communities, ensuring economic and cultural sustainability in Slovenia. The findings indicate that cooperative societies enable effective resource sharing, community engagement, and equitable distribution of economic benefits, which are essential for the long-term sustainability of dispersed hotels. Legislative support in the form of favorable policies and financial incentives has been identified as critical in fostering these cooperative initiatives. The study suggests that cooperative societies not only enhance the operational sustainability of dispersed hotels but also contribute to the conservation of cultural heritage and the stimulation of local economies. The results advocate for policymakers to consider cooperative models in tourism development strategies, emphasizing their potential to transform local communities and promote sustainable tourism practices.

Entrepreneurs’ Innovative Behaviour Response in Rural Tourism Development. A Case Study of Local Service Providers in Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, Northern Vietnam

Tourism industry becomes the spearhead economy in the Vietnamese government's development strategies that compete with regional countries like Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia. Especially tourism in rural areas has been focused on and integrated into regional and national development programs in terms of creating a driving force for socio-economic development, high quality, diversified, and branded tourism products. Innovative efforts are necessary to further promote this industry so as to reap the full benefits and potential of this sector. Creativity and innovative approaches are essential for success. The objective of this study is to examine the impact of innovation on the effectiveness of entrepreneurs in the tourism industry and propose that strategic and behavioural innovativeness enhances performance of entrepreneurs. Based on semi-structure interviews with 15 local service providers, the existing business challenges facing the service providers were identified and innovation activities that they adopted in responding to the challenges for the development strategies of rural tourism in Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. This research contributes to the understanding of innovative behaviour of participants and also some practical benefits as responses to their business challenges. However, the sample size of the study is quite small, new avenues for further research is highly recommended.

Application of 4A Concept in Bogor Botanical Garden Tourism Development Strategy

Indonesia is very rich in natural tourism potential (ecotourism), one of which is natural tourism in conservation areas. Bogor Botanical Garden is an ex-situ conservation area that has long been used by the wider community as a tourist attraction and in many countries, Bogor Botanical Garden is one of the most popular tourist destinations because it presents a panoramic view of natural landscape architecture. The research entitled "Application of the 4A Concept in the Development of Bogor Botanical Garden Tourism" focuses on the 4A concept, namely Attraction, Accessibility, Amenities, and Ancillary services. This type of research is qualitative, using qualitative descriptive analysis methods. Data collection is carried out by means of field observation, interviews, and literature studies. SWOT analysis was also used in this study, to identify the strengths and opportunities of Bogor Botanical Garden, and determine strategies to reduce weaknesses and challenges. The results showed changes in the management system of Bogor Botanical Garden. By analyzing the 4A concept, this study seeks to provide recommendations for the right development strategy for KRB, so that it can develop better and the vision of Bogor Botanical Garden can be achieved.

RESEARCH ON THE PLACE AND ROLE OF TOURISM IN THE RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE BANAT MOUNTAINS, CARAȘ SEVERIN COUNTY

In the paper we aimed to carry out comparative research on the general state of tourism in Romania, in the mountainous Banat and some Balkan countries, from which it results that Romania is far below the level of competing countries in terms of tourism development. There are many reasons for this situation, out of which two are decisive: the absence of a national strategy for the medium and long-term development of Romanian tourism and the absence of tourism among the development priorities of the Romanian economy branches, even though Romania's natural tourism offer is exceptional. In addition to these two determining causes, there is a poor state of infrastructure of all kinds and, what is more unfavourable, an extremely weak and ineffective promotion of Romanian tourism at national and, above all, international level, as well as the existence of a large number of ecological problems and touristic sites left in ruins, all of which are detrimental to the development of mountain tourism. The removal of causes that generate the current state of tourism in Romania and in the Banat Mountains of Caraş-Severin County might be the main way of local development.

Rural Tourism Design Strategy Under The Immersive Experience——A Case Study of Terraced Fields in Qingkou Village, Yuanyang, Yunnan, China

Objective: The objective of this study is to explores the current problems of rural tourism in Yuanyang Turnip Kou through the study of the immersion concept, and its main purpose is to explore the development strategy of rural tourism in Turnip Kou under the immersion concept, and its ultimate goal is to promote the economic Theoretical Framework: In this topic, the main concepts and theories that underpin the research are presented. Immersive experience stand out, providing a solid basis for understanding the context of the investigation. Method: The methodology adopted for this research comprises case study, and the specific practice and effect of immersive experience in rural tourism improvement are analyzed through interviews and observations. Focus on examining the immersive experience concept, implementation process, participant feedback and impact on local economic, social and cultural development of art projects. Results and Discussion: Combining rural tourism and immersive experience is conducive to creating colorful rural tourism activities and enhancing the interest of tourists in the tourism process. Research Implications: This study provides valuable concept of immersive experience, this paper will analyze the characteristics of immersive experience and the development of tourism in Qingkou Village, and discuss the application method of immersive experience in rural tourism, so as to promote the sustainable development of rural tourism in Qingkou Village in Yuanyang. Originality/Value: This study has great significance to study the design strategy of immersive rural tourism using the terraced fields of Turnip Kou Village in Yuanyang, China as a case study. Combining local culture with the concept of immersive experience, creatively designing rich experience programmes, such as farming interaction and handicraft experience, will deepen tourists' understanding of local culture. Enhance the experience with the help of modern technology, such as virtual reality. This move not only taps into local culture, but also promotes the sustainable development of rural tourism.

Tourism is defined as an activity that involves traveling to another place for the purpose of recreation or entertainment. A tourism development strategy is a series of plans and policies designed to improve and promote the tourism sector in a region. Jombang Regency, which is located in East Java, is one of the areas that has quite large potential in terms of the tourism sector. In this area there is a lot of abundant natural potential and can be seen from the many tourist attractions that have emerged from this region, but because of this competition between places tourism in this area is getting tighter. In facing intense competition in the tourism sector, it is necessary to choose the right strategy when maintaining, developing and improving a tourist attraction. From this, the author is interested in conducting research on the Sumber Biru Tourism Area which is located in the Wonosalam sub-district, which is located in Wonomerto Village, which aims to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors so that we can obtain information about the Development Strategy for the Sumber Biru Tourism Area to increase tourist visits. The method in this research uses qualitative research. From Mining to Tourism: Assessing the Destination’s Image, as Revealed by Travel-Oriented Social Networks

Mining communities often rely on tourism as a vehicle for post-mining territorial development. Sometimes, these expectations of the locals are justified by the natural setting and/or the well-preserved industrial heritage; however, these potential tourist destinations are disadvantaged primarily by their image, often associated with decay in the perception of travellers. In this paper, we treat travellers as stakeholders, able to decisively influence the image of a destination by uploading content (photos, reviews and ratings) on Google Maps and TripAdvisor, and we emphasise that user-generated content should be considered when shaping the tourism development strategies. Taking as case studies three former mining regions trying to capitalise on their tourist potential—Jiu Valley and Ștei, in Romania and La Louvière, in Belgium—this article proposes a method for assessing the image of the destination, also aiming to identify those aspects that require improvement.

Institutional, Ecological, Economic, and Socio-Cultural Sustainability—Evidence from Ponjavica Nature Park

The Nature Park Ponjavica (NP) is the habitat of strictly protected plant and animal species, located in AP Vojvodina, in southern Banat (Northern Serbia). The area of the park covers 302.96 ha. Protection zones I, II, and III have been established in the protected area of the NP. The NP includes the middle course of the Ponjavica River, which has preserved characteristics of watercourses of plain areas and coastal remains of wetland habitats. The most valuable area of this park in terms of protection is an island with an area of slightly less than 1 hectare. According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), the NP is classified as the fourth category—Habitat and species management area. The good geographical position of NP is one of its main characteristics. The NP can be a destination where specific forms of tourism can be developed, such as ecotourism, nature-based tourism, birdwatching, scientific and research tourism, etc. Numerous historical sites represent a significant potential for the development of cultural tourism. The research examined the influence of institutional, economic, ecological, and socio-cultural sustainability on the respondents’ satisfaction. The quantitative methodology in this research included a questionnaire as a survey instrument for respondents. A total of 547 residents were surveyed. The results of the research indicate that there is considerable satisfaction among residents with sustainable tourism. The results of the research can help in the development of numerous tourism development strategies in which the wetland is the primary resource.

Residents’ perceptions of sustainable heritage tourism development in a rural municipality

ABSTRACT This research investigates the perceptions of rural communities in the Sekhukhune District Municipality, Limpopo, South Africa, towards sustainable heritage tourism development. It aims to comprehend local attitudes by analysing community views, recognising benefits and challenges, and assessing the potential for sustainable practices. The study, utilising a quantitative approach through a structured survey, reveals diverse opinions among rural residents. While acknowledging tourism's positive economic and cultural prospects, concerns arise about environmental impact and traditional lifestyle disruptions. The paper's significance lies in its distinct focus on rural communities, expanding beyond urban-centric research. It enriches the sustainable tourism discourse by presenting local perspectives and suggesting strategies aligning community aspirations with tourism development goals. Overall, the research highlights the necessity of involving and empowering rural communities, advocating for context-specific approaches that harmonise tourism growth with the preservation of rural heritage. This study provides crucial insights for policymakers and stakeholders shaping effective and inclusive strategies for sustainable heritage tourism development in rural areas.

Analysis of local heritage tourism development strategy in Indonesia: Case study in Purbayan Village

One of the tourist villages affected by the pandemic is Purbayan Village. As a historical and cultural heritage site with many historic buildings, Purbayan Village has become a tourist attraction in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study analyses the strategy for developing local heritage tourism through digital marketing to increase post-pandemic tourist visits to Purbayan Village. This study uses a qualitative descriptive methodology. Documentation and in-depth interviews with tourism managers in Kampung Purbayan, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia, were used as data collection techniques. Based on the study findings, tourism managers need to develop marketing tactics that use digital technology through digital marketing strategies. Tourists can easily access information about Purbayan Village by developing a Destination Management System integrated with the official website and social media, from preparing tourists for tours to booking tourist facilities and services. In addition, local heritage tourism can directly influence word-of-mouth marketing, with the quality and local authenticity of tourism substantially influencing promotion, quality, satisfaction, and loyalty. Overall, future research is important, considering practical insights and recommendations for policymakers and tourism practitioners and involving local communities in developing local heritage tourism, especially in rural areas.

Identification of 5A in Curug Leuwi Hejo

Tourism has an important role in the Indonesian economy, including in Bogor which has attractive natural tourism potential. One of the natural tourist destinations in Bogor is Curug Leuwi Hejo in Cibadak Village, Sukamakmur District, Bogor Regency. This study aims to examine the experience of tourists visiting Curug Leuwi Hejo and analyze the 5A strategy carried out by the manager to improve the tourist experience. The research method used is qualitative with observation techniques and interviews with tourists. The approach in this research is descriptive qualitative and SWOC analysis. The results showed that Curug Leuwi Hejo has the potential for natural attractions that attract tourists. In addition, the manager has also provided adequate accommodation for tourists. However, there are limitations in infrastructure development and destination promotion. Therefore, a more optimal development strategy is needed to improve the tourist experience in Curug Leuwi Hejo. In conclusion, this study provides guidance for destination managers, government, and local communities in optimizing the 5A strategy for Curug Leuwi Hejo tourism development. Further research can be carried out with different methods and instruments to obtain more accurate results.

Research on the Development Strategy of Smart Tourism in Hainan Under the Background of Big Data

Hainan is a major tourist province. It is urgent to promote the transformation and upgrading of Hainan’s tourism industry from a traditional service industry to a modern service industry by means of informatization. Smart tourism is a brand-new tourism form and operation mode of tourism transformation and upgrading. Integrating big data technology will make smart tourism more accurate in three aspects: tourism management, tourism service, and tourism marketing, and further enhance the satisfaction of the tourism experience. This paper studies the development status of smart tourism in Hainan, deeply summarizes its existing problems and causes, and puts forward the development strategy of smart tourism in Hainan to promote the healthy development of the tourism industry in Hainan.

Theoretical principles of studyng the historical and cultural heritage of small towns of Ukraine

The purpose of the article is to study the influence of the historical and cultural heritage of small towns on the development of tourism in Ukraine. It was established that small cities of Ukraine have a significant potential for the development of tourism. These cities preserve a rich historical and culturalheritage, including ancient architecture, cultural monuments and traditions. The growing interest in travel and educational tourism creates opportunities for the development of the tourism potential of small towns. At the same time, the development of tourism contributes to the economic growth of small towns, creating new jobs and increasing income from the tourism business. It is important to take into account sociocultural aspects, as tourism can contribute to the preservation and popularization of local traditions, arts and crafts. Therefore, the study of the historical and cultural heritage of small towns will reveal unique resources that can attract tourists. Methodology. The methodological basis of the work is: the method of theoretical research, induction and deduction, observation, comparison, analysis and synthesis. The methodology is based on the principles of historicism, systematicity and scientificity. Scientific novelty. The scientific study emphasizes the role of the historical and cultural heritage of small towns of Ukraine and their opportunities for the development of tourism. Characterized: the conceptual apparatus of historical and cultural heritage, its features as an object of socio-geographical research and modern trends of cultural heritage in Ukraine. The results of the research will contribute to determining the potential of the historical and cultural heritage of small towns and its impact on the development of tourism in Ukraine. It is important to carry out a systematic monitoring study of the state of cultural heritage, which will allow timely detection of problems, evaluation of the effectiveness of preservation and use measures, and adjustment of tourism development strategies. Therefore, the research results can become the basis for the development of tourism development strategies and programs aimed at the attractiveness of small towns for domestic and foreign tourists.

Forest Wellness Tourism Development Strategies Using SWOT, QSPM, and AHP: A Case Study of Chongqing Tea Mountain and Bamboo Forest in China

Forests drive tourism growth in China, offering ecologic and economic benefits over urbanization trends. Wellness tourism, aligned with UN goals, thrives in forest settings, though challenges remain, particularly in the underinvested forest regions of Western China. This study aims to identify and rank the forest wellness tourism industry development strategies for Chongqing Tea Mountain and Bamboo Forest National Park in China. The SWOT method was used to construct the strategy, while the AHP method and QSPM matrix were used to rank the selected strategies. The data used in the analysis were the survey questionnaire data of 356 individuals to construct the model to identify the strategies, and the interview data of 23 experts to rate the strategies using the Delphi method. The effectiveness of eight internal and seven external factors for forest wellness tourism was evaluated. The survey results highlight the most significant advantages of the Chongqing Tea Mountains and Bamboo Forest as being its “beautiful natural and unique scenery”, and its most significant shortcomings as its “insufficient supporting facilities and weak infrastructure”. The QSPM matrix analysis reveals that the ‘offensive strategy’ is the best. The results also emphasize the importance of “Protecting the diverse tourism resources to keep the market prospect and promote wellness industry development” in the study areas. Therefore, the potential of developing forest wellness tourism in this area should be considered and included in the agenda of policy makers to strengthen the development of forest wellness tourism, improve the economic status of the tourism of the jurisdiction, and create employment opportunities in tourism-related businesses.

Identifying the Most Important Strategies for Development Health Tourism in Affiliated Regions of Abadan University of Medical Sciences

Background: Since Abadan University of Medical Sciences is situated near Arabic Countries and has similar cultural and linguistic characteristics to these countries, it must improve its health infrastructures to compete in this highly profitable market. Objectives: This study aimed to identify strategies for the development of health tourism at Abadan University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This was a qualitative study carried out in 2022. Study participants included all (22 person) experts and thinkers from Abadan University of Medical Sciences. The research tool was a checklist made by the researcher. The data collection tool consisted of several questions regarding health tourism development strategies. The interviewing process continued until saturation had been reached. The content analysis method was then used to analyze the data. Results were categorized and analyzed using MAXQDA version 2021 software. Results: Abadan tourism development strategies for health tourism included five major themes such as (administrative and executive, economic, law and regulation reform, marketing, and information) with 46 sub-themes. The most important administrative and executive strategy was encouraging travel agencies that are active in attracting foreign patients. The most important economic strategies were to reduce customs tariffs on medical equipment and attract direct foreign investment in the medical sector. The most important strategies were to amend and revise the laws and regulations of the nations and peoples of the valley. Conclusions: It is recommended that policymakers and decision-makers in the health tourism industry of Abadan University of Medical Sciences take steps to strengthen and develop health tourism based on the priorities set.

5A accreditation of tourist attractions in China and international tourist arrivals: A system generalised method of moments approach

AbstractWhile international accreditations for tourist attractions have been extensively examined, the impact of nationally developed accreditations has been less systematically investigated. Employing the system generalised method of moments approach, this study investigates the relationship between 5A tourist attractions, based on China's accreditation system, and international tourist arrivals in China, using annual city‐level panel data spanning from 2002 to 2017. The empirical results suggest that the 5A accreditation has a significantly positive effect on international tourists' arrivals. Furthermore, our findings indicate that the 5A accreditation has a substantial impact on the number of international tourists visiting lesser‐known cities. Moreover, the study reveals that international tourists from different countries respond differently to cultural and natural sites. This research provides valuable insights into tourism development strategies for local governments and tourist attractions.

Typological analysis of community participation for sustainable tourism in Sasak Ende Tourism Village

Purpose — The purpose of this study is to analyze community participation in Sasak Ende Tourism Village in managing and designing sustainable tourism development strategies based on the results of typological analysis of community participation.Method — This study employs qualitative methods utilizing primary and secondary data sources. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. We interviewed informants from the Central Lombok Tourism Office, the Managing Secretary of Sasak Ende Tourism Village, and Pujut Regency. Furthermore, triangulation analysis techniques were utilized in this study to assess the validity of the data.Result — Based on the analysis, three levels of community participation were identified in Sasak Ende Tourism Village: material incentive participation, interactive participation, and independent mobilization. Community participation activities in Sasak Ende Tourism Village adhere to socio-cultural, economic, and environmentally sustainable tourism principles. The strategy employed focuses on developing human resources (HR) and preserving Sasak traditional houses. The analysis results in a sustainable tourism development strategy for Sasak Ende Tourism Village based on the typology of participation and the principles of sustainable tourism.Practical implications — This study suggests that fostering various levels of community participation and aligning tourism development strategies with socio-cultural, economic, and environmental sustainability principles can lead to the preservation of cultural heritage and sustainable growth in destinations like Sasak Ende Tourism Village.

Tanzania’s repeat tourists: unraveling choice of attractions patterns through demographic perspectives

Purpose This study aims to explore the connection between demographic traits and the choice of attraction patterns among international repeat tourists. Design/methodology/approach The study employed a questionnaire survey to collect data from 1550 international repeat tourists who visited Tanzania between November 2022 and July 2023. Convenient sampling was employed as tourists were selected from the three international airports of Tanzania, namely Kilimanjaro International Airport, Julius Nyerere International Airport, and Abeid Aman Karume International Airport. A multinomial logistic regression model was used to examine the impact of socio-demographic characteristics on the selection of attraction patterns among international repeat tourists. Findings The study revealed that demographic factors, including age, marital status, income level, occupation, and education level, exhibit statistically significant correlations with preferences for distinct attraction patterns. This significance was established through a p-value of less than 0.05 for all the aforementioned variables. Research limitations/implications This study is primarily focused on international repeat tourists, thereby limiting insights into the preferences of domestic tourists. To better inform strategies aimed at attracting a larger domestic tourist base, future research may prioritize the investigation of choice of attractions patterns among domestic tourists in relation to their demographic characteristics. Originality/value This study contributes to the nuanced understanding of international tourist behavior by unraveling the extent to which demographic traits impact tourists’ choices of attraction patterns, thereby providing insights crucial for effective marketing strategies, improved visitor experiences, and sustainable tourism development strategies.
