The role of language as a communication tool is very important because it carries messages and provides information from the speaker or to the interlocutor. One of the uses of language to convey messages is by using hand activities. The research aims to analyze forms of figurative expressions involving the hand, specifically the use of figurative language and expressions that correlate with body parts, with the object being the Digital Corpus. The research approach used in this study is a qualitative approach through descriptive exposition. The methodological steps will be elaborated by the researcher through observation, analysis process, and description. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that, first: In the digital corpus CQPweb Lancaster University, a total of 91 figurative expressions involving the hand and hand activities were found. Second: In the process of forming figurative expressions involving the hand, only morphological processes of blending or composition in meaning formation were found. Third: The internal relation in figurative expressions involving the hand is formed by the arrangement or elements of two words that form a compound word. These compound words then indicate figurative meaning. This figurative meaning is produced from the combination of the meanings of the two combined words. Fourth: Several functions of figurative expressions involving the hand include: (1) creating poetic effects, (2) conveying implied meanings, (3) creating cultural identification, (4) creating expressive meanings, and (5) creating social and political critique.

INFLUENCERS: THE IMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL BRANDING ON INSTAGRAM

In the era of globalization, social media is considered an effective tool of mass communication. In this study, a qualitative approach is employed to analyze the Instagram account of Gantar Surapati using a visual approach methodology. The results show that the visual communication techniques employed in this study are essential for understanding, reading, and interpreting the meaning behind images, photographs, videos, and other forms of visual communication. The research demonstrates how content can shape a positive personal brand and provides practical guidance for influencers on improving their brand presence by resonating with their audience. This line of research could help further refine strategies for creating lasting and credible personal brands in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. This study contributes to the understanding of effective content creation for personal branding on social media, specifically Instagram. This is what attracts the researchers to study it and becomes the focus of problems in research related to the use of Instagram as a medium to build and improve personal branding.

The MapMe Body Scales: Validity and Reliability of a Biometrically Accurate, Photorealistic Set of Child Body Size Scales.

It is vital to identify children whose weight status means that they may benefit from medical or behavioural support, but adult visual judgements of child weight status are inaccurate, and children are seldom routinely weighed and measured. Consequently, there is a need for validated visual tools for use in training, communication, and interventions relating to child weight. This paper presents validation data for a set of innovative photo-realistic colour body size scales depicting boys and girls aged 4-5 and 10-11. Each age- and gender-specific scale consists of 7 figures based on three-dimensional (3D) scans of 388 children to accurately represent the change in body size caused by changing adiposity. To assess scale validity, 238 adult participants (105 men, 132 women, 1 non-binary individual) undertook two tasks: rating figure adiposity using a visual analogue scale and ranking figures in ascending order of adiposity (OSF Reference: gdp9j). Participants accurately estimated the relative adiposity of each figure, i.e., they were able to tell the difference between figures and correctly rank them by size. This demonstrates scale validity for use in body size tasks. One hundred and fifty-one participants also provided 3-day test-retest data, which demonstrates excellent short-term reliability. Overall, the MapMe child body size scales provide an anthropometrically accurate, valid, reliable, and usable tool for size-related tasks and communication with adults regarding child weight.

INDONESIAN NATION BUILDING DISCOURSES IN JAPANESE NEWSFILMS, 1942–1945

As an important chapter in Indonesia's modern history, Japanese occupation had profound impacts on every aspect of the nation's culture and society. It was at this time that Japan started to develop and manage Indonesian film industry which was crucial in providing the idealized and positive role models needed to strengthen and reaffirm Indonesian nationalism. Considering the importance of this industry, this paper aims to investigate how the concepts of nationalism and national characters unique to Indonesia are defined and reinforced in wartime newsreels used as social communication tools under Japanese imperial control. The method used in this study is discourse analysis to observe the ideological messages inside the newsreels important for nation building. The result of this study shows that the main elements in films of this period are systemically designed to construct narrative in line with Indonesia’s nation building despite its nature as media of Japanese propaganda. Through the use of cinematic discourses, newsreels tend to visualize images of an emerging nation having successfully developed a sense of identity and national belonging. This analysis is further contextualized with the propaganda reports of the time to identify how the Japanese inspired nationalism is still embodied in modern texts.

Construcción de MOOC con avatares generados mediante IA: estudio de caso aplicado y evaluación de percepciones

This case study describes and analyzes the integration of AI-generated avatars as communication tools in educational videos within Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Various aspects were analyzed: the acceptance of the avatar as a communication medium, the credibility and empathy conveyed by it, the retention of attention throughout the videos, and its contribution to conveying the message clearly and understandably. A quantitative descriptive analysis and qualitative analysis of surveys completed at the end of the course were conducted. The preliminary descriptions suggest that AI-generated avatars could function as substitutes for human recordings to convey information. Greater refinement of the technology and further efficacy studies on knowledge conveyance and cost-effectiveness are still required to determine the advantage of this technology compared to traditional recordings.

REALIZATION OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE AS AN ELEMENT OF THE MECHANISM OF ENSURING NATIONAL SECURITY OF UKRAINE

The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of exercising the functions of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine in the context of ensuring the national security of the State in the current conditions. Attention is focused on the procedural guidance of pre-trial investigation and support of public prosecution in court in criminal proceedings on crimes against the foundations of national security of Ukraine. The author notes that the main regulatory documents defining the main directions of the state policy in the field of national security do not mention the prosecutor’s office and its activities. At the same time, the work demonstrates that, as a key criminal justice body, the prosecutor’s office is actively involved in ensuring the national security of Ukraine within its competence. The author emphasizes the importance of the prosecutor’s office’s coordination activities in the area of combating crime, primarily crimes against the foundations of national security of Ukraine, cybercrime, corruption criminal offenses, offenses in the budgetary and economic security spheres, as well as organized crime, which have a destructive impact on the proper functioning of the national security of the State. The author provides examples of skillful use of coordination powers by the heads of individual prosecutor’s offices, which helped to orient law enforcement agencies to further effective counteraction to separatism, encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of the State and other crimes against the foundations of national security of Ukraine. The author emphasizes the need to improve the mechanisms of interaction between the prosecutor’s office and other law enforcement agencies, which is crucial for a comprehensive approach to protecting national interests and citizens’ rights, which is the basis of a strong and stable state. The author substantiates the importance of timely and high-quality coverage of the work of the prosecutor’s office in the area of ensuring the national security of Ukraine using the capabilities of modern communication tools, such as the official Telegram channel of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the official pages of the Office on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

VirtualPharm: Bridging healthcare through telepharmacy

The word "telepharmacy" refers to a type of pharmaceutical care in which patients and pharmacists communicate by information and communication technology (ICT) even though they are not in the same location. Telepharmacy has been used to solve the scarcity of pharmacists and offer pharmaceutical services to underprivileged communities. Due to geographic and demographic constraints, however, rural inhabitants and towns frequently may not have easy access to healthcare services. A more recent term for pharmaceutical service delivery is telepharmacy, which allows patients who live far from a hospital, pharmacy, or other healthcare facility to receive healthcare services from a qualified pharmacist, including medication review, patient counseling, and prescription verification. Increased comfort with the medication-use system, patient safety, and job satisfaction were shown by nurses' survey results.Actually, after a pharmacist's intervention, there has been evidence of better control over hypertension, dyslipidemia or diabetes, successful smoking cessation, and a decrease in hospitalization among heart failure patients. Telepharmacy services are developed and offered using a range of technology, care models, and interventions, catering to a diverse range of individuals with various clinical conditions. Video conferencing is used in pharmacy for management, instruction, and training needs. The telephone has evolved from a device for dialing and speaking to a multimodal communication tool. Refill authorization, prior authorization, prescription counseling, and formulary compliance monitoring are all provided by call centers, while medical equipment are being connected to phone lines to provide remote monitoring and therapy. Telepharmacy is a useful tool for community pharmacies to improve drug dispensing safety and lessen the strain on the healthcare system.

Exploring drivers and factors of benefit impact reports quality: Retracing a stakeholder theory approach

AbstractIn the pursuit of global sustainability, firms play an increasingly pivotal role. In this scenario, Benefit Corporations aim to seamlessly integrate profit‐making endeavors with sustainable practices. This corporate model has spread around the world and in Italy; it was adopted through Law No. 208/2015 introducing Italian Benefit Corporations (BCs). Italian BCs must produce a Benefit Impact Report (BIR) alongside their financial statements, as a strategic communication tool for demonstrating the company's commitment to advancing common societal benefits to stakeholders. Leveraging stakeholder theory, this study adopts a mixed methodological approach that incorporates manual content analysis of BIRs from 132 Italian BCs, combined with a regression model exploring the impact of firm characteristics on the quality of BIRs. Findings highlight a positive relationship between firm size, financial leverage, and profitability on the quality of BIRs. This study is the first to explore the quality of BIRs and their determinants, providing academic and practical implications.

Telemedicine-based antibiotic stewardship program in pediatrics: study protocol of a stepped wedge cluster randomized trial—the TeleKasper study

BackgroundOveruse and misuse of antibiotics is one of the driving factors of antimicrobial resistance, a growing global health threat. The use of antibiotics is particularly high in children. Even though the implementation of antibiotic stewardship programs (ASP) in pediatrics has been shown to reduce antibiotic use, this implementation has been limited to large university hospitals in Germany. Telemedicine applications might be an effective approach to implement ASP in non-university settings.MethodsThis protocol details the TeleKasper study (Telemedical Competence Network “Antibiotic Stewardship in Pediatrics”). Tele-Kasper is a stepped-wedge cluster-randomized trial that will be conducted across non-university children’s hospitals in Germany. The intervention consists of a telemedical consultation service in the form of a network in different German areas, using an app as a communication tool. The primary outcome will be a 20% reduction in overall antibiotic consumption measured using defined daily doses per 100 patient days.DiscussionThe TeleKasper study aims to implement and evaluate a prototype for a nationwide antibiotic stewardship program by telemedical means in pediatric departments in non-university hospitals in Germany to promote rational antibiotic use and improve medical care for infections.Trial registrationGerman Clinical Trials Register (DRKS) DRKS00028534. Surfing the COVID-19 news waves: a Belgian case study of science communication and public relations with university press releases

Press releases remain an important link between academia and the media. While science communication is a goal of universities, public relations is also becoming increasingly salient. The press release, as a significant tool for both science communication and institutional public relations, means that the fields are entwined, prompting us to propose viewing science communication and public relations on a continuum. Based on a quantitative content analysis of all press releases sent out by a Belgian university during the COVID-19 pandemic we show what this university communicates about and identify how science communication can be used for public relation purposes and vice versa.

Evolution of Remote Participation of the Accused and Victim in International Criminal Proceedings

Abstract The use of technologies in criminal proceedings has become increasingly popular. This has not escaped the attention of international criminal proceedings. Of particular importance are remote communication tools, which are now used in proceedings before the International Criminal Court (icc). These tools enable, among other things, the remote participation of the accused and the victim in the proceedings. In this paper I will analyse how this one form of using technologies in the criminal process has evolved in the changing reality of international criminal proceedings, including how the use of remote communication tools affects the rights of the accused. I will argue that the development of the use of remote communication tools in icc proceedings has so far been evolutionary and that this has been justified differently depending on the approach taken by the accused and victim in the proceedings. The paper also examines the impact of the covid-19 pandemic.

Frontiers in attributing climate extremes and associated impacts

The field of extreme event attribution (EEA) has rapidly developed over the last two decades. Various methods have been developed and implemented, physical modelling capabilities have generally improved, the field of impact attribution has emerged, and assessments serve as a popular communication tool for conveying how climate change is influencing weather and climate events in the lived experience. However, a number of non-trivial challenges still remain that must be addressed by the community to secure further advancement of the field whilst ensuring scientific rigour and the appropriate use of attribution findings by stakeholders and associated applications. As part of a concept series commissioned by the World Climate Research Programme, this article discusses contemporary developments and challenges over six key domains relevant to EEA, and provides recommendations of where focus in the EEA field should be concentrated over the coming decade. These six domains are: (1) observations in the context of EEA; (2) extreme event definitions; (3) statistical methods; (4) physical modelling methods; (5) impact attribution; and (6) communication. Broadly, recommendations call for increased EEA assessments and capacity building, particularly for more vulnerable regions; contemporary guidelines for assessing the suitability of physical climate models; establishing best-practice methodologies for EEA on compound and record-shattering extremes; co-ordinated interdisciplinary engagement to develop scaffolding for impact attribution assessments and their suitability for use in broader applications; and increased and ongoing investment in EEA communication. To address these recommendations requires significant developments in multiple fields that either underpin (e.g., observations and monitoring; climate modelling) or are closely related to (e.g., compound and record-shattering events; climate impacts) EEA, as well as working consistently with experts outside of attribution and climate science more generally. However, if approached with investment, dedication, and coordination, tackling these challenges over the next decade will ensure robust EEA analysis, with tangible benefits to the broader global community.

Defending the Pluralistic Minimum Universality of Human Rights

The idea of ‘universal human rights’ has emerged as a significant topic on the global agenda with the intensification of globalisation through technological change, the spread of transport and digital communication tools, and the increased visibility of instances of gross human rights violations in diverse regions worldwide. However, the spirit of the ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’, which emerged in the aftermath of the wave of fascism in 20th century Europe and the devastation of the Second World War, is still unable to penetrate all parts of the world. Furthermore, the rise of authoritarian populism in recent years has the potential to lead to a retreat from the idea of universal human rights. Thusly, the main purpose of this article is to introduce a viable, effective, pluralistic and minimum universal understanding of human rights on which world public opinion can agree. Within this framework, the intellectual elements of radical universalism and radical relativism, which are the parties to the debate on the universality of human rights, have been subjected to a rigorous analysis. A philosophical discussion was held in order to put forward an understanding of human rights that is respectful of multiculturalism and does not leave individuals at the mercy of the countries and societies in which they live, and to overcome the dichotomy in question. Moreover, the possible obstacles to the implementation of human rights worldwide have been discussed and the limits and scope of the pluralistic minimum universalist understanding of human rights have been revealed.

Information technology and its role in the activities of judicial institutions

The article is devoted to the definition of the month and the role of information technology in the activities of judicial authorities. It is established that information technology is a set of methods and tools designed for effective work with information. Regardless of how technologies change or how they are used in various spheres of public life, their main purpose remains unchanged - to ensure the collection, processing, accumulation and use of information. It is substantiated that the integrated use of information technologies in the administration of justice is considered to be one of the key elements of a significant improvement of the functioning of the judicial system of Ukraine. The possibility of online access to court registers, information on the stages of court proceedings, and electronic exchange of legal documents are just a few examples which have become possible due to the introduction of information technology into the work of domestic courts. This type of technology can be used to increase the transparency and accountability of the judiciary, thereby helping it to perform its functions and duties in a more efficient manner. Modern technologies allow judges and court staff to access large electronic databases, including case law and regulations, which greatly simplifies and speeds up the decision-making process. The ability to use e-mail and other digital communication tools has ensured efficiency and convenience in the exchange of information between all participants in the judicial process. Another important achievement is that citizens can now apply to the court electronically, making justice more accessible and convenient. This innovation reduces barriers to going to court, speeds up the process of submitting documents and allows participants in the proceedings to track their progress in real time. Thus, information technology not only facilitates the work of courts, but also makes justice more transparent, accessible and efficient, which ultimately increases public confidence in the judicial system as a whole. The use of information technology together with the Internet has opened up the judicial system to the public.

The Value Matrix: a communication tool to support shared decision-making and the practice of Spectrum of Care.

To provide a video tutorial on use of the Value Matrix in clinical practice. Any animal for which a preference-sensitive decision can be made regarding their care. The veterinary professional gathers a comprehensive history from the veterinary client and uses this information, in further discussion with the client, to develop 2 or more evidence-informed options for the veterinary patient's care. With the use of the Value Matrix, options are captured on a whiteboard or piece of paper, and the advantages and disadvantages of each option as well as financial cost are visually presented and discussed. The Value Matrix is a clinical-communication tool for supporting shared decision-making between veterinary professionals and clients and for delivering the Spectrum of Care. The Value Matrix is a practical tool that can assist veterinary professionals in collaborating with clients on making preference-sensitive decisions, providing contextualized care, and achieving informed-client consent.

ADVERGAMING MARKETING – A NEW AND EFFECTIVE BRAND COMMUNICATION TOOL

Currently, there are many effective marketing communication tools, such as social media marketing, email marketing, video marketing, content marketing, and influencer collaborations. However, the recent boom in the online gaming market has created a significant opportunity for marketers to implement marketing communication activities through online games (commonly called Advergaming Marketing or simply Advergaming, hereinafter abbreviated as Advergaming). Advergaming is a process that combines advertising and gaming, merging marketing communication with games as forms of both entertainment and culture. To effectively leverage the benefits of Advergaming, theoretical issues such as its definition, business benefits, methods, and application in brand communication must be clarified. Using appropriate scientific research methods, such as desk research and theoretical development, the author will clarify theoretical issues related to branding and brand communication through online games. Key points for applying Advergaming to brand communication in businesses today will also be proposed.

Integrating Intelligent Hydro-informatics into an effective Early Warning System for risk-informed urban flood management

The urban drainage system constantly facing flooding issues in coastal and urban areas. Robust and accurate urban flood management, particularly considering fast-moving compound floods, is crucial to minimize the impact of flood disasters in coastal cities. Till now, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) lacks an effective means of urban flood management because of flood risk communication among residents. Existing flood risk communication tools rely on post-disaster flood model outcomes and data. Therefore, this research proposes a real-time Early Urban Flooding Warning System (EUFWS) integrated with a user-friendly web and app interface. The backbone of this system consists of flood models developed using machine learning (ML) algorithms, combined with big data and Web-GIS visualization, with ML serving as the core for constructing the EUFWS. EUFWS offer several key advantages: they are available at all times, accessible from anywhere, and provide a real-time, multi-user working platform. Additionally, the system is flexible, allowing for the easy addition of components and services and scalable, adjusting to workload demands. EUFWS have been successfully deployed in Thu Duc City, Vietnam, as a case study and are operating effectively. A competent CCHFMO with AMDH for QoS improvisation and efficient route protection in MANET

SummaryThe ability of mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) to be used as communication tools in a variety of industries, including healthcare, the military, smart traffic, and smart cities, has drawn special consideration. Traditional Manet's multicast routing methods seem to be inappropriate to massive with Adaptive systems because the problem is NP‐complete, resulting in an enchanting QoS restrictions. In order to conquer that the paper proficiently introduces the Conglomerate Crumb Horde Formicary Meta‐Heuristic (CCHFMO) with Asymmetrical Meander Diffie‐Hellman (AMDH) to tackle the major obstacles are multicast routing problems and lack of data protection. Initially, the fusion of crumb horde optimization (CHO) and formicary optimization (FO) is exploited to strengthen QoS limitations and reduce QoS data loss. However, the massive and dynamic nature of the network with the combination of more QoS restrictions, deficient security has become extremely difficult. Therefore, the research work establishes the asymmetrical meander Diffie‐Hellman (AMDH) to significantly improve performance and concealment while ensuring channel security during data transfer. Finally, the results demonstrated that by employing the novel optimization approaches, the MANET can increase data protection while still achieving high transmission rates and sophistication of communication. As a consequence, it adequately explicates the article to improve QoS performances.

Therapeutic writing in Palliative Care: a systematic review – A death free of tubes with narrative communication skills

ABSTRACT This review aims to improve the full scope of “therapeutic encounters” in palliative care, promoting the well-being and quality of life of patients through narrative therapy and therapeutic writing as a communication tool. Palliative care seeks to alleviate the suffering of terminally ill patients and their families. Narrative interventions help patients and families to construct the experience of disease through the re-signification of symptoms. The PRISMA guided this systematic review. A total of 349 articles were analyzed, and 42 showed insightful results. The results demonstrate the relevance of narrative therapy and the use of therapeutic writing as a way to promote the well-being and quality of life of patients in palliative care, health professionals, and the general population. The focus on reflection, the meaning of the experience, and emotional expression translated into the reduction of anxiety and depression. It highlights the need to reflect and develop psychological research on palliative intervention and the identification of the expressive and communicational value of narrative therapy poetry therapy (poetry), journaling and music in palliative care.
