The article analyzes the concept of intertextuality, emphasizes its essential features and characteristics.The intertextuality is defined as a dialogue of a text with other text, the features of one text in another, which is known to the reader, is recognized by him, correlates with a certain historical and cultural epoch. The intertextuality introduces this work of art into the context of the new epoch as a new phenomenon. The appearance of the term and its evolution are traced. The intertextuality is analyzed from the point of view of the historical and literary, communicative, system and typological method. Moreover, it can be expressed in different levels of the structure of the artistic work, namely genre, motive, position of the narrator, the reader. There is establishing the connection with M. Bakhtin's dialogueness theory and it is analyzing the main points and opinions of intertextuality researchers J. Derrida, L. Jennie, R. Barthes, J. Kristeva.
