Advanced Sensor Technology and Applications in Industrial Control System

On behalf of the Science and Engineering Research Support society (SERSC), it is an honor for us to introduce you to this special issue, which includes articles that cover topics of particular interest to researchers in the field of sensor technology and applications in industrial control system. This issue contains 18 articles that come from various countries, among which we mention Turkey, USA, Macau, Taiwan, Republic of Korea, Spain, China, and Italy. Achieving such a high quality of papers would have been impossible without the huge work that was undertaken by the External Reviewers. We take this opportunity to thank them for their great support and cooperation.

Multi-dimensional structure quality control technology system of Danmu injection based on component structural theory

Danmu is one of common medicines in folks of Li nationality, with such effects in clearing heat and removing toxicity, antisepsis and anti-inflammation. Danmu injection, which is developed with Danmu herbs, has been clinically applied for years and showed curative efficacy. Currently, though many studies have been conducted to analyze chemical constituents in Danmu in details, its pharmacodynamic material basis related to disease prevention and treatment has not been defined. Furthermore, as the quality control methods for Danmu and its preparations remain restricted to single index component and irrational to some extent, it fails to ensure their inherent quality. On the basis of the summary of previous study results, as well as the "component structural theory" of the material basis, we established a "multi-dimensional structure quality control technology system" that is capable of reflecting the integrity of effects of Danmu injection and component structure hierarchy, and performed a dynamic monitoring over the whole process from medicinal materials and preparation products, so as to ensure the inherent quality of Danmu injection.

Establishment and application of “multi-dimensional structure and process dynamic quality control technology system” in preparation products of traditional Chinese medicine(Ⅰ)

Safety is an important component of the quality control of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation products, as well as an important guarantee for clinical application. Currently, the quality control of TCMs in Chinese Pharmacopoeia mostly focuses on indicative compounds for TCM efficacy. TCM preparations are associated with multiple links, from raw materials to products, and each procedure may have impacts on the safety of preparation. We make a summary and analysis on the factors impacting safety during the preparation of TCM products, and then expound the important role of the "multi-dimensional structure and process dynamic quality control technology system" in the quality safety of TCM preparations. Because the product quality of TCM preparation is closely related to the safety, the control over safety-related material basis is an important component of the product quality control of TCM preparations. The implementation of the quality control over the dynamic process of TCM preparations from raw materials to products, and the improvement of the TCM quality safety control at the microcosmic level help lay a firm foundation for the development of the modernization process of TCM preparations.

Analysis and Design of PLL Motor Speed Control System

Design and Realization of Automatic Control System in Process of Plasma Extraction

The temperature is an important technical index of the plasma extraction process, which directly affects the quality of plasma products. This paper describes the key technology of temperature monitoring and control system, the system design ideas, hardware structure, and software function. The system uses PID control theory. It can monitor 46 temperature points and control the temperature. This system has been successfully applied to Tangshan Huakai Biological Technology Co., Ltd.. The practice shows that the system has good performance, and identified by Tangshan Institute of Metrology and Measurement.

Vibration Application Based on Machine and Control System

Vibration is a mechanical phenomenon whereby oscillations occur about an equilibrium point.Vibration platform uses machine, control system and information technologies to optimize human performance. In order to explore the mechanical effect of vibration based on machines and control systems on human performance, twenty participants were voluntarily involved in this trial. The findings of this study indicated that automation vibration has significant difference on human performance. It has a positive effect on human body. Therefore, vibration can be used in auto regulation.

Study on Automatic Control of Urban Traffic Based on Computer Vision

Urban traffic control is not only a real-time control system but also random, non-linear, uncertainty complex system; the article discusses the use of PLC (programmable logic controller) control technology and fuzzy control method for traffic signal control system and how to complete the complex traffic control by using communications link technology between computers and application of fuzzy control theory, make vehicle and road navigation to realize intelligent.

The Ignition Advance Angle Control of CNG Automobile Based on BP Neural Network

Compressed natural gas (CNG) automobile is an emerging new energy car. How to optimally control the ignition advance angle of engine is the key technology of CNG electronic control system. At present, the control based on the MAP graph is used usually, but this control method has some shortages, for example larger data, poor adaptive capacity and difficulties in data updating. BP neural network control has adaptive and self-learning, nonlinear processing ability and high generalization, and faults tolerant ability in processing information. In this paper, BP neural network is used to control natural the ignition advance of engine in order to solve the shortages of the MAP picture control. Simulations experiment shows the feasibility and advantage of this method.

The Research of the AC Servo Control System for Shroud Removal Based on PMAC

The shroud removal system is an important part of the cryogenic target project. Based on research status of the cryogenic target shroud removal system, this paper presents a solution of AC servo control system using programmable multi-axis controller. The superior performance of the controller and the latest technology of AC servo control system provide a strong support for the solution. We complete the hardware system design and the development of PC software control system. On this basis, we carry out the shroud removal experiment. The experimental results show that the solution can basically reach the technical specifications of the cryogenic target shroud removal system.

Development of Master Control System for Direct-Drive PMSG Wind Turbine Based on ARM Controller

Abstract: The direct-drive PMSG wind power has been widely used in small and medium-sized wind power. The master control system is core of the control system. In the Small wind power systems, the control system requires both stable and reliable operation, but also to minimize power consumption and cost. With the study on the existing technology of wind power main control system and on the basis of the existing science and technology accumulation, this paper proposed research program based on ARM and Linux embedded wind generation master system.The master control system developed in this paper has the following advatages:more automated,more accurate, simple and direct, low cost, low power consumption, easy to maintain, make the work more stability.

Water Environment Monitoring System Based on Data Extraction - Transmission and Processing

The current paper describes a water environment monitoring system, which is focused on the online monitoring techniques of groundwater detection, data process and transmission, a local experiment equipment is also developed. Besides, an integrated study, in terms of host computer of the groundwater monitoring system, programmable logic controller (PLC) control system and sensor technology is carried out. Moreover, the secondary data process of automatic detection instrumentation and display technology is integrated, as well as the visualized data platform is primarily established. The water environment monitoring system improves the standard of monitoring indicators from the surface water environment to groundwater environment. The detection interval of the system is less than 3min, and the pollution forecast scope surpasses 16 km2. A high accuracy of the forecasting and risk analysis can be obtained.

Remote Access and Control System Based on Infrared Communication Technology

With the development of world science and technology, people's quality of life and living standard is also improving gradually, so the technology of remote access and control system will be born. The household appliances are carried out the remote access based on infrared communication technology, to construct the infrared communication coding protocol procedures, it can pass through the procedures to achieve the related functions of various electrical appliances with the organic coordination, in order to remote access for the household appliances. At the same time through the timing function of the infrared communication technology, it can be form a complete access and the control system, and can be the formation of the received infrared communication and emission flow diagram, in order to achieve the largest household appliance function and use, effectively guide people better infrared communication technology to be widely and effectively used.

The Design of Innovative Control Technology Integrated Experiment System for Engineering Applications

The design of innovative control technology integrated experiment system for engineering applications, which completed integrated experiment system design based on modern automation control technology. It contents regular control, intelligent electrical appliances, programmable logic controller (PLC), inverter, industrial control computer automation technology card. This system represents modern control technology in electrical engineering application, and it can complete overview of the teaching experiment such as motor control, electric control technology, programmable control technology, man-machine interface configuration technology, PLC control technology based on personal computer soft logic, computer control technology and industrial control system design, and this work can expand for modern automation technology, a open and development of scientific research platform.

Research of Large-Area Hard Roof Caving Prevention and Control System in Shortwall Mining Face

In the mining process, if the roof is very hard, it will hang in a large area in the gob. The hanging roof may cave suddenly, which will crash the mining face and generate hurricanes so as to cause casualties and equipment damage. The hard roof control technology has mainly been used in the longwall mining face in coal mines for a long time, and made little use in shortwall mining face. The factors of roof caving is analyzed in shortwall mining area, which mainly consists of the coal pillar size and layout, the length of coal face, roof thickness and strength, the overburden load, the supporting conditions of roof and so on and the relationship of the factor and the limit caving area is studied. And then a new integrated control technology system is put forward, which includes: support and isolation by coal pillars, roof caving pressure relief, monitoring and early warning of roof fall, gob sealing by the stopping walls, and the principle of different technology and the parameter selection method is claimed. This technology is applied in Shangwan Mine of Shendong Group in China and the results shows that the hard roof caves naturally in small area, the hidden danger of large-area roof caving is eliminated completely, so the coal production is guaranteed to be safe.

Nonlinear Control of Magnetically-geared Drive-trains

The paper considers certain impedimental issues related to the use of magnetic gearbox and magnetic coupling technologies in high performance servo control systems. A prototype magnetic coupling is used as a basis for demonstrating that the underlying torque transfer characteristic is significantly nonlinear when transmitted torque approaches the maximum designed pull-out torque of the device. It is shown that linear controllers for speed control proportional plus integral (PI) and position control proportional plus derivative (PD) result in acceptable performance provided the magnetic coupling operates below 80 % of designed pull-out torque. To fully compensate for the inherent nonlinearity of the torque transfer characteristic, feedback linearizing control laws and state transformations are derived resulting in exactly linear input-output characteristic for position and speed control of magnetically-geared drive-trains. With the addition of state feedback, the closed-loop dynamics for both position and speed control of a magnetically-geared drive-train can be designed to satisfy the integral of time multiplied by absolute error (ITAE) optimized linear response for a step input. Outstanding results are demonstrated through simulation and experimental real-time implementation on a demonstrator magnetically-geared drive-train.

The Gas Injection Control of CNG Automobile Based on BP Neural Network

Time discretization of the point kinetic equations using matrix exponential method and First-Order Hold

A system of nonlinear differential equations is derived to model the dynamics of neutron density and the delayed neutron precursors within a point kinetics equation modeling framework for a nuclear reactor. The point kinetic equations are mathematically characterized as stiff, occasionally nonlinear, ordinary differential equations, posing significant challenges when numerical solutions are sought and traditionally resulting in the need for smaller time step intervals within various computational schemes. In light of the above realization, the present paper proposes a new discretization method inspired by system-theoretic notions and technically based on a combination of the matrix exponential method (MEM) and the First-Order Hold (FOH) assumption. Under the proposed time discretization structure, the sampled-data representation of the nonlinear point kinetic system of equations is derived. The performance of the proposed time discretization procedure is evaluated using several case studies with sinusoidal reactivity profiles and multiple input examples (reactivity and neutron source function). It is shown, that by applying the proposed method under a First-Order Hold for the neutron density and the precursor concentrations at each time step interval, the stiffness problem associated with the point kinetic equations can be adequately addressed and resolved. Finally, as evidenced by the aforementioned detailed simulation studies, the proposed method retains its validity and accuracy for a wide range of reactor operating conditions, including large sampling periods dictated by physical and/or technical limitations associated with the current state of sensor and digital reactor control system technology.

A state-of-the-art review of structural control systems

The utilization of structural control systems for alleviating the responses of civil engineering structures, under the effects of different kinds of dynamics loadings, has become a standard technology, although there are still numerous research approaches for advancing the effectiveness of these methodologies. The aim of this article is to review the state-of-the-art technologies in structural control systems by introducing a general literature review for all types of vibrations control systems that have appeared up to now. These systems can be classified into four main groups: (a) passive; (b) semi-active; (c) active; and (d) hybrid systems, based on their operational mechanisms. A brief description of each of these main groups and their subgroups, with their corresponding advantages and disadvantages, is also given. This article will conclude by providing an overview of some innovative practical implementations of devices that are able to demonstrate the potential and future direction of structural control systems in civil engineering.

Method Study for Facial Character Recognition Based on Improved LBP

Facial character recognition is very important technology in the security control system, correspondingly, and also it is widely used for lots of application fields. Aimed at some puzzles of ignoring the pixel contrast values of local region, discarding some important texture characteristic information and so on in existing traditional facial character recognition algorithms, the paper proposed an improved LBP method for facial character recognition under complex illumination. The method firstly made uniformization pretreatment for different illumination facial image, limited the illumination change to a certain extent, then mapped the pixel contrast value of local region to an interval value so as to make the fluctuation be controlled in an interval, and recognized facial character finally. It took the face recognition as an example to make the simulation, and the experiment simulation results based on CMU PIE, Yale B and Outdoor facial Database demonstrated that the ILBP could be better than traditional facial character algorithms. Research results show that the proposed method owns better recognition effect, and therefore it is more reasonable and effective.

On-Chip Single-Cell-Shape Control Technology for Understanding Contractile Motion of Cardiomyocytes Measured Using Optical Image Analysis System

Quantitative evaluation of mechanophysiological responses of cardiomyocytes has become more important for more precise prediction of cardiotoxicity. For the accurate detection of cardiomyocyte contraction, we have developed an on-chip single-cell-shape control technology on the basis of an agarose microchamber system and an on-chip optical image analysis system that records the contractile motions of cardiomyocytes with noninvasive/nondestructive measurement for long-term experiments. Using this on-chip single-cell-shape control technology, the shape of single cardiomyocytes was controlled by seeding the cells in 21-µm-radius (circular) or 20×70 µm2 (rectangular) agarose microchambers. To detect the contractility of cardiomyocytes, the cells were labeled with microbeads attached onto the surface of target cells and the motion of beads was acquired and analyzed using a newly developed wider-depth-of-field optics equipped with a 1/100 s high-speed digital camera. Mechanophysiological properties such as displacement and direction of movement were obtained using a real-time processing system module at spatial and temporal resolutions of 0.15 µm and 10 ms, respectively. Comparisons of displacement and direction of contraction between circular and rectangular cardiomyocytes indicated that the rectangular cardiomyocytes tended to contract along the longitudinal direction as in a real heart. This result suggests that the shape of cells affected the function of cells. The on-chip single-cell-shape control technology and optical image analysis system enable the detection of the motion of contraction of single-shape-controlled cardiomyocytes, and are expected to be applicable to the more precise prediction of cardiotoxicity.
