Employees often take up a second job or business along with their main job for a variety of reasons. This is called Moonlighting. Employees when committed towards their organization are said to be more productive which indeed brings in result for the firm. JOB SATISFACTION: INVESTIGATING THE ROLE OF EXPERIENCE AND MOTIVATION OF UNIVERSITY ACADEMICIANS IN PAKISTAN

The key resource for the achievement of institutional objectives and enhancement of high quality education are teachers. Well motivated and satisfied teachers cultivate the successful education system in the country. Thus, the present study attempts to observe the impact of motivation and experience on job satisfaction of teachers through the perspective of Herzberg’s ideology of employee motivation and job satisfaction by conducting the comparative study of both public and private sector universities in Karachi. The sample was purposively drawn from 300 teachers and the data was analyzed by using partial least squares - Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Additionally, significant differences were found in the job satisfaction and motivation level among private and public university teachers. The presented findings embrace the implications for higher education institutions and HR practitioners.

Discussion on the Teaching and Scientific Research Methods of Private Universities

This paper analyzes the characteristics of students and teachers in private colleges and universities, and proposes an exploratory plan for teaching reform and scientific research. The selection of application-based undergraduate textbooks follows the pace of the times and the actual teaching conditions, and the arrangement of class hours is completed. The basic teaching tasks prevail, and at the same time let students develop the habit of self-study and discussion. Cultivate students' research and related abilities through innovative practice activities. Strengthen the teaching of practical courses and cultivate students' practical ability.

Incorporating EFL websites in class: Bangladeshi teachers’ perceptions

Incorporating Information-Technology in classes is revolutionizing English language teaching (ELT) practices. Since teachers are the key personnel, their attitudes towards the process determine its success. This study presents the results of a study investigating Bangladeshi university level English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers’ perceptions of incorporating EFL websites in their classes. The findings revealed that private university teachers’ have more positive attitude than public university teachers do. In addition, both private and public university teachers reported of logistic limitations and systematic complications in their respective institutions. Following this, the study proposes enhancing administrative collaborations, arranging teacher-student skill development programmes, and creating customized websites for Bangladeshi ELT contexts.

Self-esteem in One’s Abilities: Evidence from Private Sector Educational Institutes

The study aims to examine the self-esteem level of private college teachers (permanant or visitind) of district Faisalabad, Pakistan. To accomplish the purpose of the study 100 questionnaires were sent to 5 well known educational institutions of city Faisalabad, Pakistan. The result from the study indicates that symbolic varations are there in level of self-esteem between permamnant and visiting faculty members of the private colleges. This study also shown that the permamant faculty members have high self-esteem as compared to visiting faculty members. They scored more on satisfaction, ability to do things.

The study on the management of labor relations of teachers in private colleges and universities

With the promulgation and implementation of the labor contract law and the law on the promotion of private education, the study of labor relations, especially the discussion on the management of labor relations of private colleges and universities, has become a hot topic. As an important part of the main body of higher education in China, private colleges and universities are facing more and more fierce competition, and there are more and more problems facing teachers’ labor relations. How to solve the problems in the management of the labor relations of private university teachers and to construct a harmonious and stable labor relationship of private university teachers have become the key to the sustainable development of private colleges and universities. This paper puts forward feasible suggestions from three aspects: macro, meso and micro, so as to help private universities find reasonable solutions to problems.

A Study of Job Satisfaction among Government and Private College Teachers of Jammu District

The present study was carried on job satisfaction among teachers serving in Government and Private colleges of Jammu city. In the present study, the investigator was concerned about the job satisfaction of teachers. Teachers play key role in the improvement of education. Professor K.G. Saiyidain rightly observes, “that teaching is still an unattractive profession which many persons take up as last resort”. The learned educationists attribute this fact to two reasons. Poor financial prospects which discourage ambitious and intelligent people from financing it and lack of social esteem for the profession. The present study is concerned with job satisfaction among college teachers. It is generally found that job satisfaction is closely related to one’s efficiency. A dissatisfied worker may not be able to do his job efficiently inspite of his ability to do it well. The teaching community which is one of the largest work forces in the country affords the lives of thousands of people and ultimately the destiny of nation itself. If there is no job satisfaction among the teaching community, it will led the nation towards destruction and no other member of the community can uplift the dignity and honour of the nation. The objectives if the study were to study the significance of differences in Job Satisfaction between Government and private college teachers, to study that the teachers reach at that position according to their qualification and abilities and to study the interactional difference in Job satisfaction of gender and type of colleges. In the present investigation the sample was selected randomly from the teachers working in Govt. and private colleges in Jammu city. The total sample of the teachers is 100 (50 male and 50 female college teachers). For testing of significant differences in the Job-satisfaction scores of male and female teachers working in Govt. and Private colleges. The investigation applied the technique of Two-Way Analysis of Variance. Job satisfaction scale was administered to the teachers working in Govt. and Private colleges. The conclusions can be drawn on the basis of the results obtained in present study is there is no significant difference in the Job satisfaction between Govt. and Private college teachers. There is no significant difference in the Job satisfaction between male and female teachers and there are no significant interactional difference in (level of teaching and sex) when job satisfaction is taken as criterion.

Mediation theory facilitates teachers and students to tackle the barriers in English teaching and learning process. It offers a sound systematic theoretical fort on which teachers could rely, redefines teachers’ roles and functionings in the process of learners’ cognitive development and growing self-regulations. The famous psychologist Lev Vygotsky (1978) raised notions in his ZPD theory, Feuerstein (1980) illuminates capable adults as mediators, and defined twelve main features of mediation, which has empirical study value for English teaching. Thus, through quantitative and qualitative research, this paper aims to investigate the perceptions of English teachers’ mediation between private university teachers and students, analyze and compare the similarities and differences between them. The results reveal that both teachers and students coming from the two private universities have been aware of the importance of teachers’ mediation, however, have different perceptions in the frequency of teachers’ mediation. Teachers’ actual employment on mediation is weaker than their beliefs on the importance of it.

Reshaping Teachers' e-Training through MOOCs in Pakistan

Open education has come forward as a contemporary vogue across all areas of education including teacher training over the globe. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are trending concept that aim to fulfill the prospects of digital openness for providing e-Training to university teachers by utilizing novel open learning environments. MOOCs make it possible for large number of teachers to get involved in worldwide collaborative learning experiences through open e-Training courses. As technology adaptation in education is relatively slower in Pakistan, MOOCs are still uncommon in teacher training practices. This paper contemplates the significance of MOOCs in teachers' e-Training. This study also explores the awareness and utilization level of university teachers for MOOCs, and compares the perceptions of teachers of public and private universities about benefits and obstacles for utilizing MOOCs in e-Trainings and their willingness to participate in e-Training through MOOCs. 50 Teachers from five public universities and five private universities were taken as a sample on the basis of familiarity and participation in online training programs. Existing literature and research studies were reviewed to find out the significance of MOOCs in teacher training programs. A survey questionnaire was administered to explore the awareness and utilization level of university teachers for MOOCs. Findings revealed that MOOCs have gained substantial importance in university teacher trainings of most of the countries of the world, whereas university teachers of Pakistan are not well aware of potential and use of MOOCs in education. Also, teachers of private universities tend to show more interest and inclination towards using MOOCs for their professional e-Training courses. It was recommended to use MOOCs in professional e-Training of university teachers of Pakistan to align them with the global trends of open education and also provide them opportunities to learn in collaborative environments for professional elevation in a global age.

A Survey on the Professional Identity of English Teachers in Private Colleges of Hubei Province

In this research, a survey was conducted to analyze the status quo of the professional identity of English teachers in private colleges of Hubei. A mixed method of questionnaires and in-depth interview was designed to collect pertinent information. The researchers ascertained the four dimensions of teacher professional identity (TPI), and undertook a qualitative analysis of the data collected in the survey and then analyzed the influence of variables, such as gender, teaching length, academic degree and professional title upon TPI. It was found that teaching length was the major influencing factor. The findings of this research will serve as a theoretical guidance for drawing up the motivating mechanism to promote the professional identity of English teachers in private colleges of Hubei.

Formación académica de formadores en las carreras de Educación de las Universidades públicas y privadas

<p>Se presentan resultados de la investigación interinstitucional realizada por la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) y el Consejo Nacional de Enseñanza Superior Universitaria Privada (CONESUP) del Ministerio de Educación Pública en Costa Rica. El objetivo general fue analizar diversos aspectos relacionados con la preparación del personal docente que imparte los planes de estudio en las carreras de Educación en los grados de bachillerato y licenciatura de las universidades públicas y privadas en Costa Rica.</p><p>La metodología utilizada fue de alcance cuantitativo, con información correspondiente a documentos de registro de docentes procedentes de 33 universidades privadas y 4 estatales. Entre las conclusiones se destaca que hay diferencias entre docentes que forman docentes en las universidades públicas y privadas en lo que se refiere a títulos obtenidos, experiencia y publicaciones. Se evidencia que los formadores de formadores de universidades públicas ostentan mayor cantidad de títulos en estudios de posgrado, más experiencia en docencia y en publicaciones. 基于职业能力视角民办高校教师培养研究—以重庆人文科技学院为例

基于民办高校的长期健康可持续发展的需求，师资培养任重而道远。当前民办高校教师职业能力方面存在教学理念认识不到位、教学方式单一、实践经验缺乏、科研能力不足、缺乏职业规划和自我发展能力等问题。为了民办高校教师队伍长期健康有序的发展，本文通过对民办高校存在的问题进行分析进而提出了提升民办高校教师发展的职业能力教育理念、加强内部环境和外部环境的建设等方法以提高民办高校教师职业能力，从而完善民办高校师资队伍建设，提高教育教学质量。 Based on the demand of the sustainable development of the long-term health of the Private colleges, Teacher training has a long way to go. Now, the vocational ability of teachers in private colleges has these problems: the lack of understanding of teaching philosophy, the teaching method single, the lack of practical experience, the inadequate scientific research, the lack of career planning and self-development. For the long-term and healthy development of the teaching staff of the private colleges, this article analyzes the existing problems and puts forward the education concept of improving the development of private university teachers. Strengthen the construction of internal environment and external environment to improve the cultivation of teachers’ vocational ability in private colleges. Therefore, we will improve the construction of teaching staff in the private colleges to improve the teaching quality of education.

Positive Organizational Study: A Comparison between Private and Government University Teacher

The study conducted explored the relation between Psychological Capital, General Health and Organizational Citizenship Behavior and its variation between the teachers of private and government universities of Karachi, Pakistan. Based on existing literature, following hypotheses were formulated; (1) Difference would be observed in psychological capital of private and government university teachers, (2) Difference would be observed in efficacy levels of private and government university teachers, (3) Individuals with good health will have high psychological capital, (4) Individuals with high OCB will have high psychological capital. Through convenient sampling, 261 teachers teaching at graduate-level were taken as participants. Psychological Capital Questionnaire, General Health Questionnaire and Organizational Citizenship Behavior Checklist were employed. All the hypotheses were proved when results were analyzed through SPSS. In conclusion, people having high psychological capital live healthier life and are more likely to indulge in pro-social activities and organizational citizenship behavior.

Views of English Language Teachers in Private Colleges Regarding Microteaching

Since the Economy Opening-up policy in China, English has become a compulsory component in curriculum from primary school to university. Studies on ELT teachers in China are abundant, however, they tend to gaze at the ELT in government- sponsored units. With more and more private institutions commenced to provide ELT course for diverse levels and for various purposes, there emerges a relative unfamiliarity with these teachers working in private sectors. This mixed-method study aims at understanding their perspectives and experiences of micro-teaching as measures of their professional development. Current study demonstrates that teachers from private institutes in China are aware of different aspects of microteaching, but some of them, due to their leaders’ and schools’ respective contexts and culture, deem the function and influence of microteaching recommended by researchers from western world are not adequate to improving teaching in a Chinese context.

Factors Affecting Self-Efficacy of Teachers in International Private Universities in Thailand

The objective of this study was to study factors, namely nationality and faculty, which affected self-efficacy of teachers in international private universities in Thailand. This quantitative research studied in 10 institutions. The population of this study was 3,000. Stratified sampling by faculty was used to select 341 teachers. Analysis included percentage, mean, and two-way ANOVA. The findings indicated that: 1) In general, teachers’ nationality and faculty relatively affected their self-efficacy with a statistical significance of .01. 2) The analysis of all faculties showed that Thai and Western teachers perceived their self-efficacy at the highest level. 3) When analyzing by each faculty, Filipino and Western teachers in Business Administration had the highest self-efficacy. Thai and Western teachers, in the Humanities and Social Sciences, had the highest self-efficacy. Thai and Filipino teachers in Education had the highest self-efficacy. Outside these faculties, Indian teachers had the highest self-efficacy, in general. Overall, results indicate that nationalities and faculty have affected self-efficacy of teachers at a certain level. Due to the limitations of this study it is recommended to study further, so that more evidences will verify this conclusion.

Emotional Intelligence Skills and Self-efficacy Levels: Physical Education Teachers' Perspective

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence skills and self-efficacy levels among physical education teachers from the teachers' own perspective. The researchers developed two scales that measure the emotional intelligence skills; and another one to measure self-efficacy levels for physical education teachers. These two scales were applied on (70) teachers from public and private schools of the Salt Directorate of Education in Jordan. The results show a strong relationship between the emotional intelligence skills and self-efficacy levels among physical education teachers. Therefore, the results also showed that the physical education teachers have high levels of emotional intelligence skills and self-efficacy levels. Also, the results show the presence of statistically significant differences between teachers in the emotional intelligence skills for the benefit of male teachers, and between public and private schools for public schools. The researchers have recommended that it is necessary to teach some training programs about emotional intelligence to physical education teachers in both public and private schools and universities.
