Investigating Oman’s environment for startup opportunities

Entrepreneurship significantly contributes to national economies globally, including in the Sultanate of Oman, which is prioritizing its Oman Vision 2040. A startup ecosystem has developed to address market failures and rectify the oversight of entrepreneurship's role within the economic framework. The exploratory study aims to investigate and understand why Oman is appealing to entrepreneurs, as well as to examine the support provided by the country's startup ecosystem for emerging businesses. This paper also aims to investigate the opportunities and challenges within Oman’s startup ecosystem. It also seeks to assess how effectively Oman’s environment fosters entrepreneurship by enhancing market opportunities and alleviating the challenges and obstacles encountered by startups. The Omani government has introduced several initiatives to enhance the contribution of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the economy. Oman has been motivated to develop innovative business concepts and new products through unique experiences and creativity. However, they lack the qualities of opportunism and proactivity needed to turn these ideas into successful entrepreneurial ventures. The challenges in Oman stem from a weak innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, which significantly limits the ability of incubators to provide meaningful value. The primary challenge facing startup ecosystems is limited access to key resources that can improve the performance of firms. The research indicates a necessity for a cohesive environmental framework that unites the different components of entrepreneurship in Oman. The role of the government in fostering a positive entrepreneurial environment is crucial in encouraging the establishment of new startups in Oman. The Omani government has established various committees and annual plans to promote entrepreneurship. The presence of government support greatly enhances the viability of entrepreneurial ventures in Oman by offering robust support and management assistance will help ensure the sustainability of startups in Oman and their positive impact on the national economy. The policy should prioritize the development of the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem, while also enhancing the cultural framework that supports these initiatives, enabling incubators to operate effectively. Policymakers in Oman would prioritize the establishment of a supportive ecosystem aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, encouraging Omani citizens to embrace entrepreneurial initiatives.

Factors Influencing the Sustainability of Food Tourism Destinations: Evidence from the World Heritage Site of Guilin

This study examines the sustainability factors critical to developing food tourism within World Heritage Sites (WHSs), leveraging the unique natural, social, and cultural resources inherent to these locations. Using Guilin as a case study, this quantitative research collects data from diverse stakeholders, including catering operators, government officials, service providers, tourists, and residents. Critical factors identified as essential for sustaining food tourism include destination marketing, visitor experience, destination image, stakeholder engagement, core food products, and government support, with destination marketing emerging as the most influential. This study proposes a framework of sustainability factors shaping food tourism development in WHSs. The findings challenge the traditional reliance on physical resources for WHS tourism, broaden understanding of food tourism in these heritage sites, and offer strategic insights for comparable destinations in Southeast Asia.

Event-Based Optimization of Tourism at Pasir Padi Beach, Pangkalpinang City

Pasir Padi Beach, located in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung Island Province, has become a major tourist destination by hosting various events that attract local and foreign tourists. This study aims to optimize event-based beach tourism at Pasir Padi Beach by analyzing social, economic, infrastructural, and cultural impacts. Data were gathered through interviews with the Pangkalpinang City Tourism Office, observations, and secondary sources. The findings indicate high community participation, enhanced social cohesion, and significant economic benefits for local MSMEs, with income increases of 60-80% during events. However, challenges such as inadequate community readiness, lack of market research, and suboptimal stakeholder synergy were identified. To address these challenges, a comprehensive strategy is proposed, including improving infrastructure, diversifying events, and integrating local cultural elements to balance tourism development and cultural preservation. Government support, combined with local community empowerment and strong stakeholder collaboration, is essential. Effective marketing strategies, utilizing social media and influencers, and the implementation of sustainable tourism practices are recommended to maximize economic benefits while preserving environmental and cultural integrity. In conclusion, with strategic improvements in infrastructure, event management, and stakeholder involvement, Pasir Padi Beach can become a model for sustainable event-based beach tourism, promoting economic growth, social cohesion, and cultural preservation. The study’s limitation is the reliance on a single informant from the Tourism Office, which may limit perspective diversity. Future research should involve a wider range of stakeholders, including MSMEs, youth groups, local artists, and private sector representatives, to provide a more comprehensive understanding.

Unraveling the complexity: Influential factors and trajectories of NGO advancement in China—A fsQCA analysis of 46 Cases

This study employs fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) to examine 46 Chinese non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and identify the influential factors and developmental trajectories critical for NGO advancement. By integrating the AGIL functional analysis model, the research uncovers that no single factor—be it public expectations, digital technology, governmental support, cross-sector collaboration, key actors, or organizational culture—predominates in fostering advanced development. Instead, it is the combination of these elements that stimulates progress. Five unique pathways for NGO advancement are mapped: internal development, leadership-driven initiatives, strategic external support leveraging, societal adaptation, and an omnibus development approach. Cross-sector collaboration is highlighted as a pivotal factor that enhances NGO networking and facilitates resource sharing and co-creation of value. The study emphasizes the need for proactive public policy engagement, governmental acknowledgment, and fulfillment of public expectations. It underscores the importance of leadership and the cultivation of a robust organizational culture aligned with the entity's mission. This research enriches the theoretical understanding of NGO evolution and provides actionable strategies for NGOs to navigate the complexities of the social sector.

Investigating Adoption Determinants, Obstacles, and Interventions for AI Implementation in Emirati Media Organizations

This research explores the integration and impact of artificial intelligence (AI) within Emirati media organizations, focusing on adoption determinants, obstacles, and interventions. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study incorporates qualitative data from 21 in-depth interviews with media professionals and a thematic analysis of 30 scholarly articles published between 2019 and 2024. The research aims to provide a nuanced understanding of AI's transformative effects on the UAE media landscape. Key findings reveal that AI is significantly enhancing content creation, distribution, and audience engagement processes within Emirati media organizations. AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics are being leveraged to improve operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and deliver personalized content to audiences. These advancements are driving competitive advantages and elevating the overall quality of media output. Despite these benefits, several challenges hinder widespread AI adoption. Technological barriers, including limited access to advanced AI tools and infrastructure, pose significant obstacles. Additionally, there is a pronounced shortage of skilled personnel capable of implementing and managing AI systems, which exacerbates concerns over job displacement and workforce anxiety. Ethical considerations, such as ensuring unbiased AI algorithms and protecting user privacy, are also critical issues that require attention. The study underscores the importance of continuous training and upskilling for media professionals to adapt to the evolving technological landscape. It highlights the role of robust ethical guidelines and governance frameworks in promoting responsible AI use. Government support, through targeted policies, funding initiatives, and incentives, is identified as a crucial factor in facilitating AI integration and addressing adoption barriers. The research concludes by providing strategic recommendations for media organizations and policymakers. It advocates for the development of comprehensive AI adoption roadmaps that include capacity-building initiatives, ethical oversight, and collaborative efforts between industry stakeholders. By addressing these areas, Emirati media organizations can harness the full potential of AI to drive innovation, improve audience engagement, and maintain competitiveness in a rapidly digitizing global media environment. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on AI in media, offering valuable insights into the specific context of the UAE. It provides a foundation for future research on AI's role in media and serves as a guide for organizations seeking to navigate the complexities of AI adoption.

Predicting green technology innovation in the construction field from a technology convergence perspective: A two-stage predictive approach based on interpretable machine learning

The construction industry, as a major global energy consumer and carbon emitter, plays a crucial role in achieving global sustainability. A key strategy for the green transformation of this industry—without compromising development—involves fostering green technology innovation. Nevertheless, existing studies exhibit a notable gap in identifying and evaluating potential green technology innovation opportunities within the construction field, leading to a scarcity of decision-making information for governments and innovation entities during the research and development stage. Recognizing this, our study proposes a two-stage technology opportunity prediction approach based on interpretable machine learning from the perspective of technology convergence. Diverging from previous methods, it not only predicts the probability of technology opportunity occurrence but also forecasts the technical impact of convergence opportunities. By analysing 600,442 patent documents in the green and construction fields, we identify 305 high-potential technology convergence opportunities. Our results reveal that technologies such as carbon capture and storage, pollution alarms, solar energy, forestry techniques, wind energy, energy-saving methods, and waste materials for water treatment have significant potential for convergence with construction technologies. Additionally, we analyse the influencing factors behind these convergence innovations, finding that technical similarity and proximity play crucial roles. These findings provide robust decision support for governments and industry stakeholders in formulating scientifically grounded green technology innovation strategies, thereby accelerating the green transformation of the construction industry and contributing to the goal of sustainable development.

Investigating the resilience and challenges of informal street traders in South Africa's tourism sector: a focus on migrant entrepreneurship

ABSTRACT Selling products and services to tourists is often the main or sole source of income for local and migrant informal traders participating in the tourism sector in developing countries. However, they are vulnerable to exogenous shocks, with the COVID-19 pandemic a recent example. During COVID-19, international travel and domestic movement bans affected the livelihoods of many local and migrant informal traders, with the absence of government support exacerbating the plight of migrant traders in particular. This study provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by informal traders in three of South Africa’s main tourist cities against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a concurrent mixed-methods approach, the study explores how migrant and non-migrant entrepreneurs navigated the crisis. This research not only highlights the critical role of resilience and other survival strategies for especially migrant traders but also offers practical implications for the recognition of their resilience and the contribution of both local and migrant traders to job creation withing the realms of the informal tourism sector. This study extends resilience theory by applying it within the socio-economic context of the tourism sector of an important migration destination on the African continent.

Unlocking the Potential of Nigerian Schools through Effective Parental Involvement

Education is a cornerstone of societal progress and individual achievement, necessitating the active engagement of various stakeholders, particularly parents. This study explores the role of parental involvement in enhancing the effectiveness of school administration in Nigeria with particular focus on Lagos District IV, Nigeria. This study employs a descriptive survey design, focusing on secondary schools in Lagos District IV, including Surulere, Mainland, and Apapa. Data were collected from 132 participants—students, teachers, school administrators, and parents—through structured questionnaires. The study investigates how parental ties affect academic performance, school discipline, and overall management effectiveness. Hypotheses were tested using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, revealing significant relationships between parental involvement and student outcomes, discipline, and school administration. The findings indicate that robust parental involvement positively influences student academic performance and school management. Schools that foster strong parental partnerships benefit from enhanced governance and improved student behavior. However, barriers such as socioeconomic challenges and communication gaps persist, underscoring the need for more inclusive engagement strategies. Recommendations include implementing structured parental engagement programs, enhancing government support, and addressing language and cultural barriers. In conclusion, this study highlights the transformative potential of parental involvement in Nigerian schools. Effective school administration and improved student outcomes are closely linked to active parental participation. Addressing existing barriers and fostering collaborative school environments are essential for maximizing the benefits of parental engagement.

Industry 5.0 Drivers Analysis Using Grey-DEMATEL: A Logistics Case in Emerging Economies

The terms “Industry 5.0” and “smart logistics” have recently emerged as key concepts within the field of logistics. Nevertheless, the interconnection between these two concepts has been less extensively examined in academic literature, particularly in the context of emerging economies. In the contemporary business context, the logistics industry is seeking to advance sustainable development through the implementation of Industry 5.0. However, the industry is still in its nascent stages of realizing the transformation of smart logistics. Accordingly, the objective of this study is to identify the key drivers of Industry 5.0 in relation to the advancement of smart logistics in the logistics industry in emerging economies. In this study, the initial screening and identification of 15 core drivers was conducted using the fuzzy Delphi method. This involved the collation of the relevant literature and the collection of opinions from experts in the field. The identified drivers were then classified into three groups: sustainability, people-centricity, and resilience. Subsequently, the study adopted the Grey-DEMATEL method, which combines grey system theory with the decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technology. This approach enables the effective resolution of complex system issues characterized by uncertainty and incomplete information, facilitating the identification of causal relationships between the drivers and the construction of a centrality–causality outcome diagram. The study identified two key drivers: “government support policies” and “logistics standardization and infrastructure development”. This study represents a preliminary investigation into the ways managers, practitioners and policy makers can leverage Industry 5.0 to advance the field of smart logistics within the logistics industry.

Exploring the Influence Factors of Digital Entrepreneurship in Improving the Digitization of Small and Medium Enterprises in Yemen

This research provides valuable insights into the impact of digital entrepreneurship on the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Yemen. By integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework, the research examines the role of various factors-technological, organizational, environmental, and individual, affecting technology adoption and utilization in SMEs. The study primarily explores the direct and indirect influences of these factors on actual system use, with a particular focus on the mediating roles of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use in shaping attitudes toward technology adoption. Data were collected through a survey of 392 respondents, and the results were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The measurement model was validated for reliability and accuracy, followed by an evaluation of the structural model to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings highlight the critical role of information and communication technology (ICT) adoption in enhancing both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Additionally, the knowledge of IT entrepreneurs and government support were found to uniquely influence perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, respectively. Both of these perceptions, in turn, positively impacted attitudes toward and the actual use of digital tools within SMEs. To address the challenges faced by Yemeni SMEs, it is recommended to enhance digitalization through ICT adoption and promote a pro-technology culture. Policymakers should create a supportive environment via targeted policies, subsidies, and public-private partnerships to foster sustainable growth and competitiveness.

Integrating Circular Economy Practices for Sustainable Maritime Tourism Development in Bone Regency, Indonesia

This study analyzes the application of circular economy principles in the development of marine tourism in Bone Regency, Indonesia, using a qualitative case study approach involving local government representatives, community members, and tourists. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and field observations to understand the integration of circular economy practices, including waste management, resource reuse, and local community empowerment. Findings highlight both opportunities and challenges in implementing sustainable tourism, such as limited funding and infrastructure. However, effective practices, such as community-led recycling initiatives and government support in waste treatment, underscore the potential for circular economy models to enhance environmental sustainability and local economic benefits. The study concludes that a circular economy framework, supported by multi-stakeholder collaboration, can provide a path toward sustainable marine tourism, offering insights for policymakers and researchers aiming to balance environmental and economic goals in tourism development.

Holocaust in Alytus County in 1941

Like other counties in Lithuania, the persecution and extermination of Jews in Alytus county can be divided into two phases. The first (the end of June–mid-July 1941) was dominated by political motives of persecution. Jews were often arrested, imprisoned, and shot to death, as were other former Communists, members of Komsomol, Soviet government officials or supporters. People of non- Jewish nationality (Lithuanians, Russians, Poles) were also persecuted for the same reason. The surviving lists of people detained and wanted by police show that in the first weeks of the Nazi occupation, the majority of people arrested in Alytus county because of pro-Soviet activities were, however, of Lithuanian ethnicity. What is particular about Alytus county is the more intense and wider persecution of Communists and Soviet activists than in other counties in Lithuania. By mid July 1941, 82 people in this category were shot in Alytus county under orders of the German military authority. Specific discriminatory measures applicable only to Jews included marking of the Jews (by making them wear the compulsory Star of David), prohibition to perform their religious rites publicly, provision of smaller food rations, prohibition to buy food products, and seizure of radio transmitters, motorcycles and bicycles. In the first phase, no massive or total Jewish genocide was enforced – women, children and old people were usually not arrested or shot. In the second phase (mid-July–mid-September 1941) the Jewish situation deteriorated. In the centres of rural districts where the numbers in the Jewish communities were large (for example, in Butrimonys), ghettos were set up and all Jews of the area were driven into the ghettos. This was when they started sending the detained groups of Jews to Alytus to be shot. In the middle of August 1941, the number of massacres of Jews increased considerably and by mid-September 1941, almost all of the Jews of Alytus county had been killed (except for the Jews of the Marcinkonys ghetto who were killed in November 1942 and individual Jews who managed to hide before shooting). On the basis of documents dated 1941, at least 6,165 Jews were murdered. Most of those who carried out the massacres were members of Obersturmführer Joachim Hamann’s ‘flying squad’ from Kaunas, local policemen and members of the auxiliary police, the so-called baltaraiščiai (they wore white armbands). More valuable items of Jewish property (golden jewellery, clocks, etc.) were appropriated by various German authorities, some of the property was appropriated by participants in the massacre, and what was left was sold to local inhabitants.

Event Concept Planning Based on Marine Tourism in Mallasoro Village, Jeneponto Regency

This study aims to identify the potential of marine tourism and design an event concept that can enhance the welfare of the local community in Mallasoro Village, Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) assessed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats involved in developing the event concept. The analysis reveals that Mallasoro Village has significant strengths, including natural beauty, a strong local culture, and community support. However, challenges were identified, such as inadequate infrastructure and limited tourism promotion. Opportunities include the growing interest in marine tourism and regional government support through policies and capacity-building programs. Threats, such as climate change affecting beach and ocean conditions and competition with other destinations in South Sulawesi, must be anticipated. With proper planning, Mallasoro Village has the potential to become a leading marine tourism destination by developing Leisure Events and Cultural Events that incorporate diverse attractions and innovative programs, including sports, tours, education, workshops, exhibitions, culinary festivals, and sustainable marine conservation activities. These efforts can increase tourist visits while strengthening environmental awareness.

Linking demand conditions to competitive advantage: the role of government support programs in the halal cosmetic and personal care industry

Purpose This study aims to examine the mediating role of government support programs in the halal cosmetics and personal care industry between local demand conditions and competitive advantage. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected from 96 companies in the cosmetics and personal care industry in Malaysia, and the analysis was conducted using the partial least squares structural equation modeling approach. Findings The results indicate that demand conditions do not have a direct effect on competitive advantage in the halal cosmetics and personal care industry. However, government support programs, specifically regulatory and innovation programs, play a crucial mediating role between demand conditions and competitive advantage. This highlights the importance of both regulatory and innovation programs in shaping the halal market ecosystem. Practical implications The halal industry policy should prioritize innovation and regulatory programs to ensure that nonfood halal products, including beauty products, are evaluated not only based on ingredient content but also on broader aspects such as product effectiveness, quality, safety and affordability. Originality/value This study offers a unique perspective by highlighting the often-overlooked role of government support programs as key drivers in shaping the halal market ecosystem and enhancing competition in the halal cosmetics and personal care industry. While the government’s role is frequently neglected in market dynamics, this research emphasizes how government intervention, when implemented through effective policy, can significantly contribute to industry growth and competitiveness.

Integration of Teaching Resources for English Majors under Local Autonomy: Collaboration and Development

In the process of local social governance, educational resources are the basic conditions for social governance, so the integration of English education resources has become the main research aspect of local governments and educational institutions. The integration of key educational resources needs to be supported by local education policies, education systems and education laws, and the corresponding regulations and laws should be improved, and the English cognitive level of the public and the environmental governance of education need to be intervened by local governments, as well as the extensive participation of the public. Laws and regulations should be improved under the guidance of the government to provide support for the integration of English education resources, and the public should widely participate in the integration of educational resources of English majors under the publicity of educational resources, so as to form a good interactive relationship to provide support for local education governance. Therefore, the necessary conditions for the integration of local governments, legal institutions, education departments and the general public, military and local English education resources play a role in promoting the development level of English and the creation of a social environment.

Unpacking Public Satisfaction: An Analysis of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

Voters’ perception of how satisfied they are with the work of the incumbent government is decisive for their voting decision, with satisfaction in most cases leading to support for the incumbent government and dissatisfaction leading to votes against it. This article is not about exploring the relationship between satisfaction with the incumbent party’s performance and voting for it. The main objective is to identify the factors that contribute to voter satisfaction. What aspects of the incumbent government’s performance or policy influence their positive assessment? Considering the election campaigns and prominent issues leading up to the elections and drawing insights from existing literature, this analysis examines the potential determinants of voter satisfaction. It aims to identify how these factors explain voter satisfaction or dissatisfaction. The findings reveal that voter satisfaction with the incumbent government during the 2024 Lok Sabha election was mainly influenced by recent and visible accomplishments rather than long-term factors. The construction of the Ram Mandir and positive evaluations of the government’s performance on economic issues played a significant role in increasing satisfaction.

FINANCIAL LITERACY SOCIALIZATION IN MANAGING MSME FINANCES IN NORTH MERUYA VILLAGE

Many MSMEs face a range of challenges depending on factors such as location, business type, capital, and financial literacy. A common issue is low productivity, often caused by internal problems like inadequate human resource management, technology use, financial literacy, marketing skills, and entrepreneurial ability. Additionally, limited access to capital, technology, markets, and information further stifles MSME growth. The primary financial barrier for MSMEs is their inability to meet banking requirements like proper financial reporting and business development plans, which limits their access to financing. Community service programs aim to address these gaps by educating MSMEs on how to prepare financial reports to secure bank financing, which can help improve production and business expansion. The program conducted at Nusa Indah RPTRA in North Meruya focused on MSME operators and aspiring entrepreneurs, offering social mapping, socialization, training sessions, and follow-up monitoring. As a result, participants gained a deeper understanding of financial management in MSMEs, enabling them to better navigate financial challenges. To ensure the sustainability of these efforts, continued government support, regular guidance for MSME owners, and collaboration between local authorities, PKK cadres, and the broader community are crucial. This integrated approach aims to foster long-term growth for MSMEs

Neurological Surgery Manpower Training and Density in Islamic Republic of Iran: A Population Study

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Significant disparities in worldwide neurosurgical training and workforce distribution are prominent primarily in low-income and middle-income countries. Although Iran is considered a lower middle–income country, neurosurgical density and distribution in Iran has surpassed the recommended ratio of 1 neurosurgeon for every 100 000 population. The objective was to determine neurological surgery density and distribution in Iran and the factors significant in the relative success in training and allocation of neurosurgeons in Iran. METHODS: Review of PubMed and administration of site surveys of multiple data sources including Neurosurgical Society of Iran, Iranian Board of Neurological Surgery, Medical Council of Islamic Republic of Iran, Universities of Medical Sciences in Iran, and Ministry of Health and Higher Education of Iran. RESULTS: Over the 72-year period from 1952 to 2024, 1200 neurosurgeons have been trained and distributed in 31 provinces in Iran, attaining a ratio of 1.4/100 000 population. All but 40 neurosurgeons were trained after 1981, which coincided with the Iran-Iraq War. Decentralization of medical and neurosurgical residency training programs, resolving the immediate need for neurosurgeons managing penetrating traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries during the 1980 to 1988 Iran-Iraq War, and active participation of legislative and executive branches of government in solving health care disparities were major factors in meeting the needs of the country. At the present time, more than 555 neurosurgeons are practicing in Tehran Province, a proportion of 3.8 neurosurgeons for every 100 000 population, which indicates an element of disparity in density distribution across Iranian land. CONCLUSION: Legislative initiatives and government support of public health care delivery and decentralization of medical and residency training programs after the Iran-Iraq War and introduction of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education are considered the main reasons for the relative success in meeting the neurosurgical demand and manpower density. Still, further adjustment of distribution of manpower is needed.

On motives and means: how approach and justification for court-curbing impact public trust

ABSTRACT High profile court-curbing episodes from around the world are usually justified by populists who seek to minimize public backlash and legitimize their attacks on courts. Yet we do not know their effect on public trust in the target of reform. In this study we evaluate (1) whether different forms of court-curbing policies affect public confidence in their pinnacle court; (2) how populists’ justifications for these institutional attacks impact citizens’ trust; and (3) how support for the incumbent government condition public responses to (1) and (2). We fielded a face-to-face, nationally representative survey experiment with 1014 respondents in Turkey, where court-curbing is common, and the public support of the populist incumbent varies. We find that irrespective of its form, court-curbing of any kind undermines the public’s confidence in the constitutional court, although presenting the citizens with justifications does not affect their trust. Nevertheless, we observe that these effects are highly dependent on pre-existing government support or opposition, a fact that aligns with extant research on the instrumental foundations of public support for courts.

Financing Startups and Their Role in a Company's Competitive Strategy

The article examines startup financing as a crucial factor in shaping a company’s competitive strategy. Startups are key elements of innovative development, helping companies adapt to rapid market changes by providing them with new technologies and business models. Various mechanisms for financing startups are explored, including venture capital funds, business angels, crowdfunding, incubators, and accelerators, with a focus on how these instruments support startups at different stages of their lifecycle-from pre-seed financing to scaling and market entry. The study highlights the role of startups in companies’ competitive strategies, particularly within the framework of differentiation and focus strategies. Funding innovative startups allows companies to gain access to unique solutions that significantly enhance their competitive market position. For example, companies such as L'Oréal and Google have utilized investments in startups like ModiFace and YouTube, respectively, to expand their market presence and create new products that have become the foundation of their success. An important component of the research is that investing in startups enables companies to diversify their activities, reduce risks, accelerate adaptation to new market conditions, and maintain flexibility. Startup financing, especially in the Ukrainian context, where the startup ecosystem is rapidly evolving, represents a promising direction for company development. Future research prospects lie in a detailed study of risk management models related to startup financing, as well as in analyzing successful examples of large companies’ interaction with startups. Additionally, it is crucial to examine the impact of government support and international investments on the development of the startup ecosystem in Ukraine.
