Exploring the Use of Mobile Assisted Language Learning in University Students Context

<div class="WordSection1"><p><span lang="EN-US">One of the technological tools that has experienced significant developments in this era is the smartphone. The use of smartphones among millennials, especially students, is inevitable. Therefore, this study aims to see students' perceptions on using MALL (Mobile Assisted Language Learning) in the English learning process at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. The method used was a qualitative design by surveying 55 students majoring in English Education. Of the 55 students, only 50 responded to the questionnaire given. This questionnaire contained questions about students’ demographic information as well as students’ perceptions about the use of MALL by using five scales, namely Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. The results showed that the respondents consisted of 40 women and ten men. The age of the respondents is between 20-24. All respondents have smartphones, 4 of them have tablets and 46 have laptops. From the results of the survey above, it can be said that students stated that smartphones are very helpful tools for their daily activities. The use of gadgets in the learning process, especially language learning, deserves to be elaborated with other learning methods or media. In the era of technological sophistication, the presence of smartphones requires teachers to be more creative in using various applications and content attached to this gadget. Current students cannot be separated from smartphones. The result of this study shows how smartphones are tools that enable better language competency in students, but of course, with proper and wise supervision and use.</span></p></div>

Correlation Between Organizational Structure, Leader Behavior and Personality with Citizen Beahavior about The Environment in an Islamic Perspective

This research aims to find out the correlation between organizational structure, leader behavior and personality and behavior of citizen about the environment in Islamic perspective. The research used quantitative method with survey design by taking 150 lecturers of IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo as the sample. Four variables were measured, namely behavior of citizen about the environment in Islamic perspective (rel.97), organizational structure (rel.95), leader behavior (rel.92), and personality (rel.94). It used two-way ANOVA to analyze the data. The results showed that there was positive and significant correlation among those variables, even though it has been controlled by second-order correlation. Therefore, it could be concluded that organization structure, leader behavior and personality became consideration to improve behavior of citizen about the environment in Islamic perspective.

Analysis of Using of Social Media as Communication for Lectures at PTKIN: Case Study of Da’wa Management of IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo and IAIN Pare-Pare

Social media is a tool that cannot be separated from modern human life, regardless of age, location, profession, and status. Every message can be sent quickly and right to other people both short and far distances. The covid-19 outbreak makes everyone do social distancing to minimize the spread of the virus, including teaching and learning activities at schools and campuses. This research discusses social media that has used by students and lecturers in their online learning with various platforms directed by lectures or campus that occurred in students of the Da’wa Management department at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo and IAIN Pare-Pare. This discussion aims to determine the analysis use the social media during the online learning period which has occurred in the last semester, so it will provide benefits to researchers and intellectuals to explore and learn effective ways of organizing online learning in the future. This study used a descriptive qualitative method that occurred in two different places (IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo and IAIN Pare-pare. The researcher collected data by observation, documentation, and interviews with several structured and non-structured questions. The data that has been collected and analyzed by the researcher to give conclusions from the problems that have been found. The results of this study indicate that the use of social media as communication for online lectures in the Da’wa Management Department of IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo and IAIN Pare-Pare is effective with several notes related to minor numbers on students' understanding of the material, personal enjoyment, influencing attitudes, social relations between students and lecturers. students and personal actions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Persepsi Mahasiswa terhadap Pelaksanaan Perkuliahan Naḥwu dengan Sistem Daring

This article aims to describe students’ perceptions of naḥwu 2 lecture with online system for 4th-semester students in the Arabic Language Department, IAIN Sultan Amai, Gorontalo. The study was conducted in a survey type with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and interviews. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques by Milles and Huberman, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. Research results: (1) Online lecture for naḥwu 2 is carried out with deductive methods in the form of lectures, memorizing Matn al-Ājurrūmīyah, and group material presentation; (2) As many as 46.15% of respondents stated that the material was not well presented. The influencing factors are group presentation and network quality. Only 53.85% of respondents stated that the understanding they got after attending naḥwu 2 lectures online was quite good. As many as 84.62% of respondents stated that memorization of the matn had a positive effect on understanding the material and the ability to take words. According to them, online lecture are considered ineffective in naḥwu 2. The retention of the material they get is not comparable to the funds they spend on internet quota needs during naḥwu 2 online lecture.

Indeed, the urgency of the dictionary in foreign language learning - especially Arabic - is something that does not need a special report when we realize that past studies have confirmed that a teacher reduces his role in a lesson. A teacher should focus more on learning to students by using media that can help students to acquire language in a successful and effective way. A dictionary would be very effective if designed according to the needs of the students.The purpose of this study is to: 1) describe the characteristics of the dictionary in terms of learning that has been developed 2) describe the extent to which the feasibility of the developed dictionary 3) Describe the effectiveness of learning Arabic language using a developed dictionary.The research method used in this research is research and development method of Sugiyono development model. The assessment steps are: 1) Needs analysis, 2) Data collection, 3) Product design, 4) Product development, 5) Expert validation, 6) Product revision, 7) Field test, 8) Product revision, and 9) Product end. Research data in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. The data source of this research is one expert Arabic field and one design expert. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires and tests.The results show that: 1) the characteristics of this dictionary lies in the specificity of this dictionary for learning Arabic. The number of vocabularies in this dictionary is about 2000 vocabularies. Everything is arranged alphabetically to make it easier for readers. 2) The percentage value indicates that the dictionary is eligible for use by IAIN students Sultan Amai Gorontalo 3) The use of this dictionary is effective to assist students in translating terms related to learning.

Penerapan Standar Operasional Prosedur Terhadap Efektifitas Pelayanan Keuangan di IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is an instrument that contains the processes and procedures of an activity based on a standard that has been standardized. This study determined the effect of the application of standard operating procedures on the effectiveness of financial services, especially at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. This research used a quantitative approach, with data collection methods through tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis was conducted to test the effect of the tested variables, namely the application of SOP (X) to IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo financial services (Y). The results showed that the application of SOP conducted at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo influenced financial services at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. In its implementation, the SOP implemented at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo has made financial services easier and more directed.

Pengaruh Harga dan Pelayanan terhadap Keputusam Pembelian Konsumen pada Online Shop

This study aims to determine the effect of prices and services on consumer decisions in an online shop. Study on Islamic Economics and Business Faculty IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo Students. The sample selection method is done by using accidental sampling method. The number of samples chosen was 100 students. Data obtained through the distribution of questionnaires to the respondent. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis tools. The type of data used is perimer data. The method of data collection is done by distributing questionnaires to those who are randomly responded. Data analysis was carried out using multiple regression analysis. The result of this study find out that the prices and services of online transactions together and partially positive and significant towards consumer decisions in conducting online purchase and purchase transactions at the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business Sultan Amai Gorontalo IAIN, namely price variables with an exchange rate of 0.356 with a significant 0.034. Service variable with a coefficient of 2.423 with a significant value of 0.010. Then, together prices and services have a positive and significant effect on consumer decisions with the calculated F value = 5.930 significance 0.004 greater than F table = 3.590.

Organizational Culture and Quality of Services at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo

This article mainly aims to find the right model for improving service quality and user satisfaction of State Islamic of Religious Higher Education Institutions (Pendidikan Tinggi Keaagamaan Islam Negeri - PTKIN) by involving the organizational culture of Service Quality. This study purposefully contributes to the development of the field of education management, especially those related to the causality model of organizational culture. The results showed that there was a positive direct effect on Organizational Culture and Service Quality on User Satisfaction of Islamic Higher Education Institutions IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. The results of this study are in line with the theory put forward by Philip Henslowe which shows that the impression obtained from the level of knowledge and understanding of facts regarding people, products or situations) is largely determined by the culture of people producing goods and services, maintaining service quality and ensuring the fulfillment of user expectations.

Estimating the Students’ Skill in Reciting and Writing Alqur’an at Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo

<p class="ABSTRACTJUDUL">The purpose of this study was to estimate the instrument of reading and writing capability of the Qur’an in the practicum program students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. This type of research is quantitative with an analysis approach to the generalization theory variance through the G-Study concept with a multifacet design p x r x I three facet variations. The results of the study prove the instrument of reading and reading ability of the Koran was tested, namely the estimated coefficient of reliability of the combined scores of the reading and writing assessment of the Koran from 20 students who were rated by 4 rater of 10 items which were judged by the magnitude of generalizability coefficient value of 0.82749 . The magnitude of this value indicates that the true score of the assessment results is quite high compared to the minimum reliability criteria, which is 0.70 fulfilling the reliable criteria.</p><p class="ABSTRACTJUDUL"> </p><p class="ABSTRACTJUDUL"><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p class="ABSTRACT">Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengestimasi instrument kemampuan baca tulis alqur’an pada program praktikum baca tulis Alqur’an mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analisis varians teori generalisibilitas melalui konsep G-Study dengan desain multifacet p x r x I tiga variasi facet. Hasil penelitian membuktikan instrumen penilaian kemampuan baca tulis al-Qur’an teruji, yakni estimasi koefisien reliabilitas skor gabungan penilaian kemampuan baca tulis Alqur’an dari 20 mahasiswa yang dinilai oleh 4 rater terhadap 10 item yang dinilai diperoleh besarnya nilai koefisien generalizabilitas sebesar 0,82749. Besaran nilai tersebut menunjukkan bahwa true score hasil penilaian cukup tinggi dibandingkan kriteria reliabilitas minimal yaitu 0,70 memenuhi kriteria reliabel.</p><strong><span lang="EN-US"><br /></span></strong>

PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR BERUPA MODUL BASICS ENGLISH GRAMMAR UNTUK MAHASISWA TADRIS BAHASA INGGRIS FITK IAIN SULTAN AMAI GORONTALO

The purpose of this study was designed to: (1) develop teaching and learning materials in the form of a Basics English Grammar module for students of the English Department, Faculty of Teacher Training IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo; (2) find out the feasibility of teaching and learning materials in the form of a Basics English Grammar module for students of the English Department, Faculty of Teacher Training IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo.
 This study is research and development in nature. The research design used refers to the four-D (4D) models of development with four main stages namely, (1) Define; (2) Design; (3) Develop; (4) Disseminate. Data collection techniques in this study were using questionnaires and FGD.
 The results of this study are: (1) Development of Basic English Grammar Module Teaching Materials in accordance with the four-D model development model. In the fisrt step of the model Define, the results show that students need teaching materials that can improve student competence, as well as help independent learning. Design, the results of teaching materials that are suitable for students' needs are in the form of Basic English Grammar modules. Develop, carried out validation by experts, revised according to expert advice, and trial development in the 3rd semester of English Education Department. Disseminate, the module is disseminated to English Education students (2) Feasibility of Module-Based Teaching Materials based on assessment: material experts obtained a mean score of 3.93 (feasible), media experts obtained a mean score of 4.02 (appropriate), and learning practitioners / lecturers the average Grammar subject is 4.03 (feasible); (3) Student's assessment of Teaching Materials in the Form of Basic English Grammar Modules obtained a mean score of 4.33 (very feasible).

College Students’ Perception about the Implementation of Democratic and Humanist Learning Model in State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Sultan Amai Gorontalo

This research aims to analyse the perception of students of Islamic Education Management Study Program at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Islamic State University (IAIN) Sultan Amai Gorontalo about the implementation of democratic and humanist learning model. The sample used in the research was 98 respondents. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistic by using Weighted Means Score (WMS) formula. The research result about student perception showed that lecturers at Islamic Education Management Study Program had already been applied democratic and humanist learning model perfectly in the interactive learning condition. To realize a democratic and humanist learning model, lecturer figure is needed that has the knowledge and ability to develop a model of democratic and humanist learning. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan menganalisis persepsi mahasiswa Prodi Manajemen Pendidikan Islam Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo tentang penerapan model pembelajaran yang demokratis dan humanis. Jumlah sampel adalah 98 responden. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan rumus Weighted Means Score (WMS). Hasil penelitian mengenai persepsi mahasiswa menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran demokratis dan humanis sudah diterapkan dengan baik dalam suasana pembelajaran yang interaksi dan interaktif. Jaringan Islamisasi Gorontalo (Fenomena Keagamaan dan Perkembangan Islam di Gorontalo)

Dalam artikel ini, para penulis berpendapat bahwa Kota Gorontalo yang diperkirakan lahir sebagai pusat pemerintahan sejak tahun 1728 M, atau tepatnya 06 Sya’ban 1140 H telah menjadi “kota Islam”. Sultan Amai, raja dari utara yang ke II Kerajaan Gorontalo pada tahun 1525 diyakini menjadi peletak pertama tonggak Islam di negeri ini. Raja Matolodulakiki menjadikan Islam sebagai agama resmi kerajaan pada zaman pemerintahannya, dengan prinsip: “Adati hula-hulaa to saraa, saraa hula-hulaa to Qur’ani”. Peleburan Islam dan negara dan adat lantas disempurnakan oleh Raja Eyato, sejak tahun 1673. Selanjutnya, Sultan Botutihe menengaskan proses islamisasi dengan memindahkan pusat pemerintahan dari Dungingi ke lokasi baru, yakni kawasan kompleks Mesjid Agung Baiturrahim Kota Gorontalo saat ini. Mesjid ini kemudian menjadi tonggak sejarah pemerintahan dan pusat agama. Secara empiris dapat dikatakan bahwa hubungan antara negara, agama dan adat sudah sedemikian kuat di Gorontalo. Prinsip penyebaran Islam pada masa ini melahirkan suatu perkembangan baru yakni “adat yang di Islam-kan atau Islam yang diadat-kan”. Selanjutnya, jaringan Islamisasi pada abad ke-19 sampai zaman sekarang ditandai dengan berdirinya beberapa organisasi dan institusi seperti: AL-Huda, Al-Khairat, Muhammadiyah dan NU.

The Existence of Legal Aid Institutions as Embodiments of Principle of Equality Before the Law

Penelitian ini membahas tentang eksistensi Lembaga Bantuan Hukum dalam memberikan bantuan hukum, dan pelaksanaan pemberian bantuan hukum bagi masyarakat sehingga terwujud asas equality before the law. Lokus penelitian dilakukan di Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan (LBH Makassar, PBHI) dan di Provinsi Gorontalo (LBH FSE IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo, LBH Ichsan, YLBHI ). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan Lembaga Bantuan Hukum dapat memberikan rasa puas dan respon positif dari masyarakat yang menganggap bahwa ketika berhadapan dengan hukum harus membutuhkan biaya yang mahal namun dengan adanya lembaga bantuan hukum masyarakat miskin dapat memperoleh pelayan hukum gratis tanpa biaya, namun masih banyak masyarakat miskin yang belum mengetahui akan adanya sarana dan wadah yang diberikan Negara dalam hal pemberian bantuan hukum secara gratis ini. Pelaksanaan bantuan hukum yang menjadi tujuan dari lembaga bantuan hukum bagi masyarakat miskin telah dilaksanakan dengan baik meskipun dalam pelaksanaan di lapangan banyak ditemukan kendala yang dihadapi dalam memaksimalkan pelayanan bantuan hukum di lokasi penelitian.

NEED ANALYSIS IN LEARNING ENGLISH FOR NON ENGLISH PROGRAM AT TARBIYAH AND TEACHER TRAINNING FACULTY

This research aims to obtain information about the needs of learners in Englih learning especially non English department students surroundings of Tarbiyah and teacher training Faculty of IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo, the results of the analysis of data obtained via the questionaire form as the main instrument. Based on the data analysis, it was obtained information that the English material should be submitted by using the strategies varied, English has four skills with more emphasized on a competency-based vocabulary , this is because learners expected through vocabulary they can understand a textbook material on other subjects which is very useful for them in job field.

IMPROVING STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION THROUGH WESTERN MOVIE MEDIA

This research aims to determine how does Western Movie Media improve the students’ pronunciation. This Research uses a Class Action Research (CAR). The subject of this research is the four semester of English Education at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. There were 30 students consisting of 10 male students and 20 female students. The instruments of data collection were observation sheet on teacher’s and students’ activity, and pronunciation test. The action research carried out in three cycles. There were 16 students got 75 in the first cycle, second cycle increased 18 students, and in third cycle 28 students.
