This article discusses the role of zakat in alleviating poverty. Where zakat is something that is obligatory for the Muslim community. In the Qur'an it is explained that zakat is a responsibility for the Muslim community to help each other. So it can be interpreted that zakat is a moral element. social, educational and economic. In terms of morals, zakat wards off the greed and stinginess of some Muslims who have a sufficient economy. In education, the obligation to give zakat can be taken from the feeling of wanting to give, donate and also give up some of the assets we own as a sign of our love for others. In social matters, namely zakat, the poor can play a role in their lives, carrying out their obligations to Allah SWT, helping with zakat and sadaqah that have been given from people who are capable. As is the case with zakat, underprivileged people feel like they are part of society, or not even outcasts and are looked down upon. In economic terms, zakat can play a role in preventing the accumulation of wealth in the hands of just one person, and also requires rich people to redistribute the wealth they have to rich and poor family groups. So, zakat functions as a potential source of funds in terms of alleviating poverty. Zakat can also be working capital for poor people to open up employment opportunities, so that this group can earn income and also be able to meet their daily living needs. Taken from the feeling of wanting to give, donate, and also give up some of one's wealth as a sign of compassion for fellow humans. In social matters, namely zakat, the poor can play a role in their lives, carrying out obligations to Allah SWT, helping with zakat and sadaqah that have been given from people who are capable.

Men's determinant factors on antenatal care involvement and childbirth place preference in Indonesia: An analysis of the 2012 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS).

This study aimed to describe the determinant factors of men's involvement in antenatal care and childbirth place preference in Indonesia. Secondary data from the 2012 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey was used to identify factors determining men's presence during antenatal care and childbirth place preference. All factors were analyzed utilizing bivariate and multivariate logistic regression. Men living in urban areas, having a sufficient economy, having higher educational levels, and having more interaction with mass media were more likely present during the antenatal care of their wives. Men in Sulawesi and Maluku showed lower involvement in accompanying wives during antenatal care than those in Papua. In terms of delivery place preference, men in age 15-19 and 35-49 years, living in urban areas, having a more stable economy, reading newspapers or magazines as well as watching television at least once a week, and living in Java and Nusa Tenggara, were more likely having wife giving birth in healthcare facilities. Type of residence, economic situations, lower educational level, and fewer interactions with mass media and electronics are essential barriers to men's involvement in wives' antenatal care visits and childbirth place preference in Indonesia. Particular attention should be put to Sulawesi and Maluku to enforce the men and women as those islands underutilized antenatal care services and health facilities for childbirth.

The concept of Sakinah according to Sayyid Sabiq is that by marrying which is recommended by Islam, for the sake of his survival, humans do what is within them, namely in the form of fitrah. Sakinah family is the hope of every couple after the wedding, it needs to be prepared since the bridal couple wants to carry out the wedding. Apart from that, in marriage, women are protected from men who lust after her. By forming a marriage there is also the love of a father and mother, therefore both parents teach their children well. Allah SWT blesses marriage like this and is dreamed of by every believer so that he can create a sakinah, mawaddah and warahmah family. Things that must be prepared from a small part in marriage to lead to a sakinah family such as, the bridal couple has mature thoughts for marriage, both physically and mentally, understands the rights and obligations between husband and wife, has sufficient economy, and understands the importance of home the sakinah ladder and the problems that will be passed after the wedding. The ways to choose a life partner are: (1) Have a good environment, (2) A wife who can have children, (3) Get peace when looking at her, (4) Virgins are preferred, and (5) marry someone equal to herself. Promoting harmony in the household, namely: rights and obligations between husband and wife and together.

Thailand guideline 2020 for medical management of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is one of the most prevalent and bothersome functional gastrointestinal disorders worldwide, including in Thailand. After a decade of the first Thailand GERD guideline, physician and gastroenterologist encountered substantially increase of patients with GERD. Many of them are complicated case and refractory to standard treatment. Concurrently, the evolution of clinical characteristics as well as the progression of investigations and treatment have developed and changed tremendously. As a member of Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which are developing countries, we considered that the counterbalance between advancement and sufficient economy is essential in taking care of patients with GERD. We gather physicians from university hospitals, as well as internist and general practitioners who served in rural area, to make a consensus in this updated version of GERD guideline focusing in medical management of GERD. This clinical practice guideline was constructed adhering with standard procedure. We categorized the guideline in to four parts including definition, investigation, treatment, and long‐term follow up. We anticipate that this guideline would improve physicians' proficiency and help direct readers to choose investigations and treatments in patients with GERD wisely. Moreover, we wish that this guideline would be applicable in countries with limited resources as well.

Reflecting of the two significant consciousnesses inherited in Thai society: The “Dhamma-democracy and sufficient economy” which enabled the praxis of spiritually active citizenship in 2 case studies of different settings, the K-12 school students and the village juveniles

This article will cover 3 major parts. The first part will discuss the different perspectives of active citizens from the Buddhist interpretation of "Dhamma-democracy" and King Bhumiphol Adulyadej's principle of "sufficient economy". The second part will present 2 critical praxis cases of both inside the school (K-12) and the juvenile groups in the villages in Thailand. Whose roles were being catalyst of active citizen movement by nurturing the self actualization within themselves and their closed partners; teachers and parents, along with creating and sharing positive social engagement experiences with several communities throughout the country. The third part will reflect and elaborate the incredible results to either students or juveniles themselves of being spiritually active citizens.

Learners realized how to protect,conserve the natural resources and value environments. They must follow the rules of the professional education in 2013 for the self- management standard. The purpose of this research article was to study results of the experiments on creation theactivity models for the new generation Thai teacher’s characteristics conserved the environments and the livelihoodfollowed thesufficient economy philosophy to the first-year students, faculty of education at RattanakosinRajabhat Universityand the different between before and after experiments.This research was used by Randomized Control Group Pretest- Posttest Design.Statistical hypothesis testing wast - test for Dependent Sample andt-test for Independent Sample: Difference Scores.This researchwas found that after the experiment was the higher scores than before experiment. It issignificant at .05. Further Suggestions of this research showed that the activities should be continuously practiced by the learners themselves and adjust to their worthy lives.The teacher’s dutiesmeans providing the facilities, suggestions, inspiration, praise, complementary, making goodness, supporting positive thinking and esteem to Thai social activities and Thai cultures.

A causal relationship model of factors affecting competitiveness of community enterprise in the central region

The purpose of this research were 1) to investigate the competitiveness of community enterprise, 2) to measure an agreement, and 3) to find a structural model of knowledge management, transformational leadership, and human capital development affected to community enterprise’s competitiveness. Multiphase mixed methods research applying quantitative research to extend qualitative results was used for research design. The qualitative target group was selected using purposive sampling whereas the quantitative sampling group was used two-stage random sampling. Questionnaires were used for measurement design. Qualitative data were classified and analyzed using content analysis and analytic induction. Quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and the developed model was validated by using LISREL program. The research found that 1) the overall competitiveness of community enterprise was in a high level. The interview result shown that the transformational leadership adopted the Sufficient Economy philosophy of “to do one thing at a time”, encouraged members to have a positive attitude of sharing idea. The leader should seeking for new knowledge and sharing benefits equally, applying local resources and wisdom to human capital making product development such as chili paste from mushroom, herbal product, etc. 2) The competitiveness of community enterprise’s empirical data had statistical agreement x^2=339.19,df=90,P-value=.00, most index were close to .90. The interview result found the successful of business came from product differentiate strategy. The product must be unique and stand out from competitors such as herbal compress, ikat silk, snack from rice, etc. There was also a cost leadership strategy be used. 3) The competitiveness of community enterprise was directly influenced by 3 factors; knowledge management (Direct Effect or DE=.26) transformational leadership (DE=.39) and human capital development (DE=.34) whereas indirect effects came from a transformational leadership by knowledge management (Indirect Effect or IE=.89) and human capital development (IE=.76). Therefor the model developed was acceptable and good to be used for forecast the competitiveness of community enterprise in the central region. The form of the 3 factors that affect to the competitiveness was 3L Model for SMEs Competitiveness based on the developing of members’ abilities; supported knowledge, upgraded skill, etc. The head of community enterprise must emphasized on mission and goal setting, kindness, participation of members, motivation, employing competitive advantages of product differentiate, niche marketing, and cost leadership.

FACTORS AFFECTING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUFFICIENT ECONOMY PHILOSOPHY IN DUSIT COMMUNITY, BANGKOK

The research objectives are: 1) to study the level of success of sufficient economy philosophy implementation in a community; 2) to compare the level of success of sufficient economy philosophy implementation as characterised by personal factors; 3) to study factors affecting sufficient economy philosophy implementation in a community. The population of this study is 390 people living in Dusit community, Bangkok. Data collection is done by survey and statistics used are frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and One-way ANOVA as well as multiple regression analysis. The research found: 1) the level of success of sufficient economy policy is at a high level overall (=3.67); 2) the hypothesis shown gender and level of education do not contribute to a significance difference in the level of sufficient economy philosophy implementation success whereas age, career, and income do alter the level of success; 3) multiple regression analysis found every sufficient economy philosophy factor is a significant predictor of sufficient economy philosophy implementation, and that the regression significantly predicted implementation success at 55.4 percent.

Financial Viability of an On-Farm Processing and Retail Enterprise: A Case Study of Value-Added Agriculture in Rural Kentucky (USA)

Value-added processing and direct marketing are commonly recommended strategies for increasing income and improving the economic viability of small farms. This case study uses partial budgeting to examine the performance of an on-farm store in Kentucky (USA) over a six-year period (2014–2019), intended for adding value to raw farm ingredients through processing and direct sales to consumers. Three primary product supply chains were aggregated, stored, processed, and sold through the farm store: livestock (meats), grains (flours and meals), and fresh produce (fruits, vegetables, and herbs). In addition, prepared foods were made largely from the farm’s ingredients and sold as ready-to-eat meals. Whole-farm income increased substantially as a result of the farm-store enterprise but the costs of operation exceeded the added income in every year of the study, illustrating the challenges to small farms in achieving a sufficient economy of scale in value-added enterprises. By the final two years of the study period, the enterprise was approaching break-even status. Ready-to-eat items, initially accounting for a small fraction total sales, were the most important product category by the end of the study period. This study highlights the importance of adaptability in the survival and growth of a value-adding enterprise as well as the critical role of subsidies in establishing similar enterprises, particularly in low-income, rural areas.

Impact of Application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy on the Well‐Being of Thai Population: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Relevant Studies

This paper summarizes the impact of Sufficient Economy Philosophy (SEP) on the well-being of Thais by selecting and reviewing relevant studies published in English. Twenty electronic studies were accessed based on inclusion criteria after the primary and secondary screening processes. The review applied narrative synthesis and meta-analysis for qualitative and quantitative data analyses respectively. Findings pointed to a positive correlation between SEP interventions and well-being across six emerging themes: education, social, economics, agriculture, environment, and health. Meta-analysis of two studies confirmed this relationship (n=5,579, pooled standardized mean difference of well-being score, 0.545 [95% CI, 0.178 to 0.912]).

The article analyzes the key bottlenecks and problems of globalization as a social progress concept along with the accompanying social and economic problems provoked by liberalization. The potential of sufficiency economy is analyzed as an alternative to the globalist approach. Potential prospects of sufficient economy principles’ implementation are assessed. These principles have been suggested by His Majesty King of Thailand Bhumipol Adulyadej as the key values and strategic guidelines for nation’s development. The related conditions and requirements for their implementation in the economic policies of todays’ governments worldwide are discussed.

As an economist Mahatma Gandhi was different from the main stream tradition due to his emphasis on ethical aspect to promote economic development as well as a rejection of materialism. Inspired by American writer Henry David Thoreau throughout his life Gandhi was in search to find the ways by which poverty, backwardness and other socio, economic problems could be solved. Here is an attempt made in this paper to present the economic thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi and analyze the relevance of these concepts in the present era. In this process this study analyzes the spiritual economic thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi for a post modern construction of India and examines his views on Swadeshi, decentralization of economics and self sufficient village economy as a means to attain and achieve the economic self sufficiency of the nation. Through his thoughts, actions, movement and life style he advocated that economic activities can never be justified without ethics and non-violence. The economic aim of Gandhi was Sarvodaya, self sufficient village economy, preservation of ecology and full employment which were quite different than conventional economic.

Toward a Framework of Economic Thoughts Based on Sufficiency Economy

Sufficient Economy is our topical framework of economic thoughts. Sufficient Economy has been defined as per the ‘Sufficiency Economy Description and Definition’ Set, henceforth abbreviated as SED&D, which shall form de rigor the basis of our interpretation and elaboration from here onward. We shall proceed via a deductive process of ‘parsing’ SED&D into syntactically and semantically analyzed components. Secularized Buddhist precepts are then applied in creating inferred construct of Sufficient Economy, and ‘axioms’ are drafted.

Evaluation of School Activities for Developing the Desired Characteristics based on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy: A Project Report

For the last 4 decades, the philosophy of Sufficient Economy has become the country's new approach to drive strategies and policies in all fields of development for Thailand. Based on rationality and knowledge about the Sufficient Economy Philosophy, the philosophy is taking steps into the school curriculum and various school activities at all levels. A goal has been set for schoolchildren completing basic education to have better knowledge and understanding about this philosophy and be able to apply it in their daily life. This study presents an evaluation of school activities in a project which aims to develop student's desirable characteristics based on the Sufficient Economy Philosophy using a model of Context-Input-Process-Product (CIPP). The project recruited school administrators, teachers, students, and parents in Northeastern region of Thailand as participants for this study. Multiple sources of data have been obtained by in-depth interview, focus group discussion, and questionnaire. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were used to analyze the obtained data classified into four aspects such as context, basic factor, process, and product. Results indicated that the participants perceived all aspects in a high level and they responded positive perceptions toward the activities.

Sufficient and Sustainable Livelihood via Community Economy: Case of Natural Farming Program in East Malaysia

Community economy is an alternative mean for sustainable livelihood emphasized under the Sustainable Livelihood Approach (SLA) and Sufficient Economy Approach (SEA). Both approaches support the participatory development strategies which concern on the empowerment of marginalized people through an efficient utilization of local resources. The purpose of this article is to analyze the outcomes of the community-based economic activity executed through the natural farming programme in selected rural areas of East Malaysia. Our finding indicates that most participants have gained positive economic and social outcomes from the programme. The programme provides economic benefits such as reduction of household food expenditures, productive usage of household idle resources, increase of household income and saving. In addition, the programme also contributes to social benefits such as provide fresh vegetables, promote closeness among family members, increase self-satisfaction and happiness, increase closeness among community members, healthier feeling and increase agricultural skills and knowledge. The mean of each item show consistent trend that ranges between 3.68 (lowest) to 4.34 (highest). Therefore, the community economy conducted through the natural farming programme has benefited the rural area people in line with the idea of SLA and SEA.

Teacher Professional Development for Learning Organization on Sufficiency Economy in Small Schools

The Ministry of Education, Thailand announced the major scheme for the implementation of Sufficiency Economy in Schools in the country along with the 1999 National Education Act Amendment in 2003. The purposes were to establish self immunization in human capital and develop learners to their full capacity. However, the inequality among schools in Thailand was one of the main problems in educational development. The small schools were among the disadvantage groups. There were not having sufficient learning resources, teaching personnel and teachers with major in special subject areas, the small schools needed help in their development programs as well as integrating sufficient economy into the learning and teaching situations. The purposes of this study are to develop teacher professional for learning organization on sufficiency economy in small schools as well as to develop principals and teachers' concepts about learning organization on sufficient economy. This study employs qualitative design by analyzing document and interviewing key informants. The research samples consist of five small schools under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area. The findings reveal that the training strategy with the emphasis on brain storming, working in small groups, learning from success stories experiences of their peers and friendly supervision in the teacher professional development for learning organization based on the philosophy of sufficiency economy. Furthermore, the support from school administrators also created confidence among teachers in implementing the integration of the innovation based on the philosophy of sufficiency economy in a whole school system. Therefore, the project was implemented and progress under the same ideology in both administrators and teachers. Regarding the guidelines for teacher development for learning organization based on the philosophy of sufficient economy among small schools, the findings revealed that there are six steps of work procedures. The six steps comprise of (i) awareness creation, the research employed a study trip to visit good practice sites in sufficiency economy; (ii) professional development; (iii) consensus concept of creation of innovation based on sufficiency economy and classroom research; (iv) using community learning resources; (v) observation and reflection, and (vi) supervision and coaching. In conclusion, all teachers accepted and implemented the integration of sufficiency economy into their classroom. Moreover, they showed their ability for integrating the philosophy of sufficiency economy into their activities. Finally, most of the students showed their developments in achievement and attitude.

Silk-Cloth Weaving Development of the Mon-Khmer Ethnic Group in Lower-Isan

Problem statement: Silk cloth weaving culture of the Mon-Khmer ethnic group in Lower-Isan has a specific identity which should be handed down to future generation. The purposes of this research were to examine: (1) the body knowledge concerning silk clothes of the Mon-Khmer ethnic group in Lower-Isan region, (2) the process of production or silk-cloth weaving of the Mon-Khmer ethnic group in Lower-Isan region and (3) development of silk-cloth weaving of the Mon-Khmer ethnic group in Lower-Isan region. Approach: The research data was gathered from documents concerned and research fields. A sample was 156 people living at 7 villages and those involving silk-cloth production or weaving. The data was analyzed according to the research purposes and presented by means of a descriptive analysis. Results: Silk-cloth weaving has been a cultural heritage transferred from ancestors. In 1215 Chow Tang Kwan stated that the Siamese people came there, grew mulberries, raised silkworms and wove silk clothes from that time through learning from generation to generation. The cloth-identity and patterns have been party influenced by their ethnic group together with the way of life in each period. In the past, the main purpose of silk-cloth weaving was for household use. Some of the silk clothes were kept for being supplement to various rituals and Buddhist ceremonies. Thus, it was not necessary for them to have commercial production. Household-labor was still an important-productive factor of sufficient economy and reliant society. For the production process, it has been found that at present the economic and social structures have changed from household-use production to commercial production. There are complete production processes in the type of forming groups and the management system by increasing production competency to obtain both quantity and quality as well as standard prices. There are transmutations into a variety of other products and promotion of domestic and foreign marketing. However, what is firmly retained to the community is the traditional silk-cloth weaving. For silk-cloth weaving development, it shows that the appropriate model of silk-cloth weaving development of the Mon-Khmer ethnic group in Lower-Isan region consists of economic and social changes which can affect silk-cloth weaving culture of the Mon-Khmer ethnic group in Lower-Isan region. Conclusion/Recommendations: Silk-cloth weaving is a very important cultural heritage of Mon-Khmer ethnic group. It accumulated and adhered from ancestors and transacting through social recognition in each period. All of production processes of each period are scrupulous such as growing mulberries, raising silkworms, producing fibers and dyeing fibers. The development of identity, patterns, weaving technique, production equipment, transmutation equipment and marketing cause a sequence of changes and development of the process of silk-cloth production or weaving from weaving for household use to commercial production. At present, there are many forming groups which produce for a commercial purpose. However, what is firmly retained to the community is the traditional of silk-cloth weaving by hand-loom.
