Abstract: Decision Support System for Determining the Best Student in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dehasen Bengkulu Using the "Analytical Hierarchy (AHP) Method"
 The ability to make quick and careful decisions will be the key to success in global competition in the future. Having a lot of information alone will not be enough, if you are able to mix it quickly into the best alternatives for decision making, to help humans, especially decision makers in determining virtues, in a precise, efficient and effective manner, a decision-making model known as the System is needed. Decision Support (SPK). Data processing aids accompanied by software can increase the ability of decision makers, improve accuracy and speed up the process.
 From the design process to the implementation of the system that has been carried out in the Decision Support System for Determining Outstanding Students at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dehasen University, Bengkulu Using the Analytical Hierarchy (AHP) method, several conclusions can be drawn as follows:
 
 Decision Support System for Determining Outstanding Students at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dehasen Bengkulu Using the Analytical Hierarchy Method (AHP is a website application that can be accessed flexibly by both users and admins/campus parties, only with an internet connection.
 This system can already be used to provide detailed purchase transaction reports, sales reports and product reports.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY OF SIMULATION OF ORGANIZATIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

The relevance of the use of information technologies, which change the approach to the design of construction objects by moving from two-dimensional project documentation to an object-oriented multidimensional information model, is determined. The effectiveness of the task of checking the quality of the information model has been proven by determining the impact of changes in the indicators of the current situation in the project on its results and developing an approach for making management decisions during project planning and control. The need for the formation of knowledge and its classification and positive impact on the assessment of project implementation and the implementation of optimal actions from the project in accordance with the filling parameter of the information support model are substantiated. For the implementation of the information technology of enterprise management, a structure of three components is proposed: the management of the operational subsystem of the enterprise, its project subsystem and the methodological component, which in its data has an organizational and technological component. The formalization of factors influencing the external environment and topology rules between the structural elements of the system is proposed. The results of the research can be used to create digital models of spatial objects and information technology for modeling the surface of the built-up area. It is proven that the dynamics of organizational development of project-oriented enterprises should be directly reflected in the distribution of corporate control, as well as in determining the nature of the unification of technological processes and the rapid diffusion of innovative knowledge, which is the only important condition for achieving success in competition and ensuring the stability of market positions estimated implementation of organizational development processes: structural; normative; procedural; effective; informative; integrative.

Increased male investment in sperm competition results in reduced maintenance of gametes.

Male animals often show higher mutation rates than their female conspecifics. A hypothesis for this male bias is that competition over fertilization of female gametes leads to increased male investment into reproduction at the expense of maintenance and repair, resulting in a trade-off between male success in sperm competition and offspring quality. Here, we provide evidence for this hypothesis by harnessing the power of experimental evolution to study effects of sexual selection on the male germline in the seed beetle Callosobruchus maculatus. We first show that 50 generations of evolution under strong sexual selection, coupled with experimental removal of natural selection, resulted in males that are more successful in sperm competition. We then show that these males produce progeny of lower quality if engaging in sociosexual interactions prior to being challenged to surveil and repair experimentally induced damage in their germline and that the presence of male competitors alone can be enough to elicit this response. We identify 18 candidate genes that showed differential expression in response to the induced germline damage, with several of these previously implicated in processes associated with DNA repair and cellular maintenance. These genes also showed significant expression changes across sociosexual treatments of fathers and predicted the reduction in quality of their offspring, with expression of one gene also being strongly correlated to male sperm competition success. Sex differences in expression of the same 18 genes indicate a substantially higher female investment in germline maintenance. While more work is needed to detail the exact molecular underpinnings of our results, our findings provide rare experimental evidence for a trade-off between male success in sperm competition and germline maintenance. This suggests that sex differences in the relative strengths of sexual and natural selection are causally linked to male mutation bias. The tenet advocated here, that the allocation decisions of an individual can affect plasticity of its germline and the resulting genetic quality of subsequent generations, has several interesting implications for mate choice processes.

Abstract Animal weapons are diverse and often exaggerated structures associated with sexual selection and male–male combat. Despite their diversity, our knowledge of these structures comes primarily from studies that focus on the size of the weapons and neglect other components, such as their shape or performance. Furthermore, weapons can exhibit species-level plasticity based on nutrition and other ecological variables, but few studies have documented seasonal variation in weapon plasticity. Here, we investigate how weapon size, shape and performance differ across adult male reproductive and non-reproductive Allegheny crayfish, Faxonius obscurus. Given that F. obscurus and other cambarid crayfishes exhibit cyclical moulting between reproductive and non-reproductive states, they provide an ideal system in which to investigate such questions. We found that claws of reproductive and non-reproductive male F. obscurus differ in all three weapon components we investigated; claws from reproductive males were longer, stronger and different in shape compared with claws from non-reproductive males. Wielding longer and stronger claws is likely to confer greater competitive success during the mating season, which demonstrates an unexplored pattern of seasonal weapon plasticity. We discuss these results considering our knowledge of the seasonality of weapon phenotypes and propose several avenues of future research using cambarid crayfish as a model system.

Sex-specific paternal age effects on offspring quality in Drosophila melanogaster.

Advanced paternal age has been repeatedly shown to modulate offspring quality via male- and/or female-driven processes, and there are theoretical reasons to expect that some of these effects can be sex-specific. For example, sex allocation theory predicts that, when mated with low-condition males, mothers should invest more in their daughters compared to their sons. This is because male fitness is generally more condition-dependent and more variable than female fitness, which makes it less risky to invest in female offspring. Here, we explore whether paternal age can affect the quality and quantity of offspring in a sex-specific way using Drosophila melanogaster as amodel organism. In order to understand the contribution of male-driven processes on paternal age effects, we also measured the seminal vesicle size of young and older males and explored its relationship with reproductive success and offspring quality. Older males had lower competitive reproductive success, as expected, but there was no difference between the offspring sex ratio of young and older males. However, we found that paternal age caused an increase in offspring quality (i.e., offspring weight), and that this increase was more marked in daughters than sons. We discuss different male- and female-driven processes that may explain such sex-specific paternal age effects.

The article examines the process of forming an international marketing strategy and its determinants, describes the relationship between the phases of international marketing development and the level of application of an international marketing strategy. Based on this analysis, a set of elements of the company's international marketing strategy was developed, the application of which should contribute to ensuring a systematic approach to its planning, implementation and control. A structural and logical scheme of strategic decision-making regarding the selection of foreign markets and segments is proposed, and the factors that determine the geographical diversification of the enterprise are analyzed. PJSC "Concern Khlibprom" is one of the largest enterprises of the Ukrainian bread market, which daily produces up to 160 tons of products - bread, bakery, confectionery and dough semi-finished products. The Company's structure includes 5 processing enterprises located in Lviv and Vinnytsia regions. The analysis of segments and the search for the target market should be based on the following criteria: market capacity, availability of sales channels, trends of growth or decrease in the size of the segment, profitability of activities per segment, chances of success in competition. In 2023, PJSC "Concern Hlibprom" is proposed to conduct a wide advertising campaign. The presented advertising objects are new types of products of PJSC "Concern Hlibprom" (croissants, toaster bread for breakfast).

A song for Cornwall (Kan Rag Kernow): a study of musicians and translators working on Cornish/Kernewek lyrics for international song festivals

ABSTRACT In the British region of Cornwall, state intervention in long-standing practices of the translation of music lyrics for song competitions has created major shifts, including remarkable competitive successes. Proponents of the Kernewek (Cornish) Language have long used translated musical lyrics as a tool for language revival, especially in annual song competitions, like the Pan Celtic festival. Cornish musicians – who, with few exceptions, cannot speak Kernewek – work with volunteer translators to produce songs for competitions for audiences who also rarely speak Kernewek. This essay is built upon ethnographic fieldwork in Cornwall among language enthusiasts and musicians, as well as on recent interviews with musicians and translators who have competed in the Pan Celtic and similar festivals. It demonstrates a conscious use of language by non-fluent speakers to build identity and community among Cornish people and to promote the recognition of Cornwall’s distinctiveness outside of the region. This builds upon previous work on metalinguistic community (Avineri and Harasta 2021) and ethnolinguistic infusion (Benor, Krasner, and Avni 2020), demonstrating the complex and important impact of state funding and coordination to increase the recognition and scope of use of the language.

Adjusted fence height: an improved phenotype for the genetic evaluation of show jumping performance in Warmblood horses

BackgroundShow jumping is one of the most popular disciplines in the horse sector, which makes success in show jumping competitions an important breeding goal for many studbooks. Therefore, the genetic evaluation of show jumping performance is of major interest and this is the case for two Belgian Warmblood studbooks: the Belgian Warmblood horse and Zangersheide. In this study, first an improved phenotype for show jumping performance was developed, i.e. adjusted fence height based on a new non-arbitrary method to scale ranking and competition level, which are two major components of success in competitions. Second, we assessed the importance of including a rider effect in genetic models for show jumping performance, this effect being under debate in sport horse breeding. Third, genetic models based on elementary performances and one model based on a summarized performance were compared in terms of model fit, heritabilities and the stability of estimated breeding values to define the most suitable one for the genetic evaluation of show jumping performance.ResultsIn this study, more than 600,000 Belgian competition records and almost 81,000 horses were used. Genetic evaluations were developed based on elementary performances (Blom-transformed ranking and adjusted fence height) and on a summarized performance (highest level achieved). Estimated heritabilities of Blom-transformed ranking, adjusted fence height and highest level achieved were 0.09, 0.12 and 0.39, respectively. Including a rider effect improved the models for genetic evaluations. Estimated genetic correlations between the studied models were moderate to high (rg = 0.60–0.99). With the best fit model, the accuracy of the estimated breeding value (EBV) for adjusted fence height reached 0.70 for a larger number of stallions and for stallions that tended to be younger.ConclusionsWe recommend breeders to implement this new phenotype ‘adjusted fence height’ in breeding programs. It is moderately to highly correlated with Blom-transformed ranking and highest level achieved, a proxy for lifetime success, and is available for selection candidates from an early age onwards.

Evaluation of Body Composition Changes by Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Analysis in Volleyball Athletes Following Mediterranean Diet Recommendations during Italian Championship: A Pilot Study

In a volleyball team, an optimal body composition might be reachable by monitoring both training plan and nutritional habits to obtain success in competitions. The Mediterranean Diet (MD) may represent a good choice to cover the nutritional needs of those practicing competitive sports. The aim of this study was to monitor body composition changes through bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) during pre-season training sessions (P), the championship (C), and the play-off period, in volleyball players following MD recommendations. Our data showed that athletes maintained an optimal MD adherence over the study period. In the total population, we observed an upward and leftward shift of the vector on the resistance (Rz)/reactance (Xc) graph within the specific tolerance ellipses for the volleyball players. Using Hotelling’s T² test, we found significant changes in BIVA parameters from P to C of the entire team, due to reduction in Rz/height (H) and increase in Xc/H, along with an increase in phase angle, body cell mass index, and skeletal muscle mass. Our findings support BIVA as a useful tool to monitor body adaptations of athletes and the MD as an optimal dietary pattern in sport setting to allow good performance in athletes.

Динамические характеристики функции внешнего дыхания у лыжников-гонщиков Республики Коми в годовом цикле

The training process in winter sports is significantly modulated by weather factors, which has a direct or indirect impact on how fast one gets into the required shape and on competition success. In male crosscountry skiers, the volumetric characteristics of external respiration function (ERF) have been investigated extensively; at the same time, no research into this function’s dynamic characteristics is available. The aim of this paper was to study the dynamic characteristics of ERF in cross-country skiers in the annual cycle. Materials and methods. ERF was evaluated monthly using the microprocessor spirograph SPM-01-R-D. The measurements were taken in male cross-country skiers (age: 20.2 ± 0.6 years, height: 175.9 ± 0.6 cm, body weight: 69.4 ± 0.7 kg, maximal oxygen uptake: 4.393 ± 0.433 l/min), members of the national teams of the Komi Republic and Russia that have been living in the European North of Russia (62°N) almost from birth. Results. The study revealed that the dynamic indicators of ERF in cross-country skiers of the Komi Republic are characterized by higher numerical values compared to those in male non-athletes. Peak expiratory flow in cross-country skiers, while being higher than that in non-athletes, had a statistically significant annual dynamics, which repeated the pattern of the annual drift of this indicator in men not involved in sports. Minimal expiratory flow in cross-country skiers was primarily observed in August–November, while maximal, in December–January. The greatest deviation from the due values (by 37.4 %) was characteristic of the airflow velocity in the small bronchi. Thus, ERF indicators in male cross-country skiers have an annual drift and, in terms of numerical values, exceed most of the indicators in non-athletes.

Motivation Profile of Youth Greco-Roman Wrestlers; Differences According to Performance Quality.

Athletes have to possess high motivation levels to perform each training session and competition at the highest level. Thus, the motivation of the wrestler is essential to reach the highest performance quality. The research included 47 Greco-Roman wrestlers aged 17.71 ± 1.62 years. Variables included anthropometric indices, sports motivation assessed by the revised Sport Motivation Scale (SMS-II), and competitive success (medal winners and non-winners at the National Championship). The Cronbach's alpha coefficients checked the internal consistency of the SMS-II. Differences between performance quality were determined by Cohen's d effect sizes, and MANOVA for motivation and anthropometric variables/body build variables. In the total sample, wrestlers had high levels of intrinsic motivation (5.97 ± 0.90), integrated (5.99 ± 0.83), and identified (6.08 ± 0.82) regulation, while they had low amotivation (2.53 ± 0.98) and external regulation (3.26 ± 1.24). Successful wrestlers had significantly higher intrinsic motivation than less successful wrestlers (Cohen's d = 0.76, moderate effect size). Results evidenced that wrestlers have high self-determined motivation, which is vital for maximal performance and persisting in sports. Future research should investigate wrestlers from other age groups to ultimately determine the sport motivation profile of wrestlers and enable their optimal sports development.

The quality and performance of a given pharmaceutical company determines the success of competition in meeting patient satisfaction and is one of the important things that determines business development strategy and maintains the quality of the pharmaceutical company itself. Total Quality Management (TQM) is amanagement system used to improve service quality and help achieve targets set by an organization. This research is an observational study using interviews through questionnaires conducted at 40 Kimia Farma pharmacy outlets in Batam with the aim of analyzing the implementation of Total Quality Management in the city of pharmacy services. In determining the development strategy of PT. Kimia Farma Tbk, conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to analyze the internal and external factors of Kimia Farma with a SWOT analysis. The results of the evaluation carried out by performance analysis showed an average performance value of 4.05 and an average importance value of 4.31 and an average conformity level of all components of 93.87%. So it can be said that the application of Total Quality Management at PT. Kimia Farma Tbk has been running well. The development strategy that can be carried out based on the SWOT analysis is the SO (Strengths-Oportunity) strategy to optimize the available resources and maximizethe success of existing opportunities in order to improve the performance of PT. Competition and Justice in Adam Smith

AbstractThis article analyzes the relationship between competition and justice in Adam Smith in order to determine to what extent competition can promote and undermine justice. I examine how competition features in two basic motivations for human action, “the propensity to truck barter and exchange,” and “the desire of bettering our condition.” Both can be traced back to the desire for recognition, but they operate in very different ways. The former manifests itself in social cooperation, chiefly commercial exchange and the division of labor, and while it can take a competitive form, competitive success produces benefits for everyone. In contrast, the latter may manifest itself in win‐lose social competition. Commercial society harnesses both motivations, and both have negative as well as positive effects. However, while Smith explicitly addresses the negative effects of excessive specialization in the division of labor, it is less clear how he thinks the negative effects of social competition can be addressed. I argue that competition can undermine justice when (i) it pits people against each other and (ii) leads to psychological corruption. I conclude with some reflections on what a focus on competition adds to our understanding of Smith's work.

TACTICAL INTERACTION OF HANDBALL PLAYERS IN EXECUTION OF “5-1” DEFENSE

The article will consider the tactical interaction of handball players in the implementation of "5-1" protection, which will help to increase the effectiveness of the game in defense at all levels of sports improvement. Team tactics are always determined taking into account the level of training of the team and the real capabilities of the enemy. The effectiveness of defensive actions depends on their compliance. Tactical actions marked by this type of defense will become the basis for success in competitions of any level. Correct tactical interactions serve to develop this type of defense, which leads to a high-quality level of the game.

Self-esteem and competition

This paper explores the relations between self-esteem and competition. Self-esteem is a very important good and competition is a widespread phenomenon. They are commonly linked, as people often seek self-esteem through success in competition. Although competition in fact generates valuable consequences and can to some extent foster self-esteem, empirical research suggests that competition has a strong tendency to undermine self-esteem. To be sure, competition is not the source of all problematic deficits in self-esteem, and it can arise for, or undercut goods other than self-esteem. But the relation between competition and access to self-esteem is still significant, and it is worth asking how we might foster a desirable distribution of the latter in the face of difficulties created by the former. That is the question addressed in this paper. The approach I propose neither recommends self-denial nor the uncritical celebration of the rat race. It charts instead a solidaristic path to support the social conditions of the self-esteem of each individual. The paper proceeds as follows. I start, in section 2, by clarifying key concepts involved in the discussion. In section 3, I identify ten mechanisms that support individuals’ self-esteem and impose limits on competition. I focus, in particular, on the challenges faced by people in their practices of work. In section 4, I outline prudential and moral arguments to justify the use of the proposed mechanisms. Section 5 concludes with remarks on the role of social criticism in the processes of change implementing the mechanisms.

A trajectory simulation model to analyse the factors influencing the descent of a Skeleton athlete

Subtle differences in aerodynamic drag, ice friction and sprint start, all influenced by the skill and physique of athletes, determine the descent time and hence competitive success in the sport of Skeleton. A trajectory based simulation was created by parameterising the geometry of the Altenberg Ice Track in Saxony, Germany to find the physically realistic descent time that captures the physics of the aerodynamic drag, ice friction and sprint start. A sensitivity study was used to analyse the influence of each factor on the overall performance down a fixed mid-line trajectory. Comparisons are made to the actual descent times to confirm applicability for a set of male and female sliders. It was found that the combined mass of the athlete and sled should be maximised within the rules, the initial velocity from the push should be as fast as possible, the aerodynamic drag should be optimised for each athlete and the ice friction of the runners reduced to their lowest limit. If each variable is optimum, then the final race standings will depend solely on the skill of the athlete traversing the ice track by finding the ‘best’ trajectory.

A dual-mode neurostimulation approach to enhance athletic performance outcome in experienced taekwondo practitioners

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) is a growing empirical approach to improve athletic performance. Some recent studies have investigated the effects of transcutaneous spinal direct current stimulation (tsDCS) on the motor performance such as reaction time. TDCS and tsDCS can lead to alteration of the spontaneous neural activity, and the membrane potentials of motor neurons in cerebral cortex and spinal interneurons, respectively. Given the paucity of experimental studies on the non-invasive brain stimulation in the field of sports neuroscience, especially martial sports, the present study aimed at investigating the effects of neurostimulation in potentiating the motor and cognitive functions in experienced taekwondo practitioners. The study sample included 15 experienced male taekwondo players who received real or sham direct current stimulation on the primary motor cortex (M1) and the lumbar spinal segment (T12-L2) over two sessions, 72 h apart. Next, the performance of the participants was evaluated through a simulation of taekwondo exercise directly after the sham and real sessions. Moreover, a cognitive platform (CBS: Cambridge Brain Science) was used to investigate the participants’ cognitive profile in each instance. Unlike sham stimulation, real tDCS was associated with improved selective attention and reaction time in both in the simulated task performance and cognitive examination. The concurrent cortical and trans-spinal tDCS was found to improve selective attention (31% performance improvement) (P < 0.0001) [EFFECT SIZE; 1.84]. and reduce reaction time (4.7% performance improvement) (P < 0.0001) [EFFECT SIZE; 0.02]. Meanwhile, the intervention failed to leave a significant change in cognitive functions evaluated through CBS (P > 0.05). As informed by our results, the present dual-mode neurostimulation could improve motor functions potentially through the effect of tsDCS over the spinal interneurons and tDCS over the primary motor cortex. Likewise, our findings suggested an improved performance in simulated taekwondo task after real- but not sham-stimulation. This study paves the way for designing neurostimulation protocols to improve the performance of professional athletes, namely martial art practitioners, including their accuracy and velocity of reactions. Such positive effects of neuostimulation in athletic performance as demonstrated in this research and similar reports are expected to enhance the athletes’ success in professional competitions.

Customer experience management in capsule hotels: a content analysis of guest online review

PurposeCapsule hotels are a revolutionary Japanese concept of lodging that dates back over four decades. On the other hand, capsule hotels are a relatively new concept for most travelers outside of Japan. Organizations within this target segment are starting to recognize the critical role that an excellent customer experience management (CEM) strategy offers in improving competitiveness and organizational success. Thus, this research provides scholastic insight into the framework of CEM by evaluating the user-generated content at capsule hotels.Design/methodology/approachThis study inspected 1,304 online user-generated content from the top 10 capsule hotels from Booking.com. Leximancer 4.5 was deployed to analyze the data.FindingsThe analyses revealed nine key themes to CEM of capsule hotels which are “staff,” “hotel,” “area,” “location,” “bed,” “capsule,” “check-in,” “noisy” and “luggage”.Practical implicationsThis research encourages hospitality and tourism executives to develop specific strategies for capsule hotels.Originality/valueThis research differs from previous writings in that it attempts to fill a gap in the research by offering insight into the issue in the low-budget hotel industry and by identifying key indicators that influence customer experience.
