Internalization of Community Empowerment High Value in MSI Community

Community empowerment, as mentioned in SDGs, nowadays becomes trend activity in the social world stage. Mentari Sehat Indonesia (MSI) implements a community empowerment practice based on noble values. Many internalization stages have been taken to maintain the existence of those values. This research aims to describe noble values existing in MSI community in community empowerment practice along with its internalization stages using universal noble value category developed by Kluckhohn. This research is a single case study with data sourcing from informant, library study, written document and archive, and visual data collected through interview, observation and documentation. Informant was selected purposively based on sex, leadership for regional subsidiary organization, and education level. Data was analyzed using an interactive model of analysis including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing as well as verification. Data validation was conducted using source triangulation technique. The research found various noble values existing in MSI Community: nature of life, nature of work, and work ethos, relation between human and nature, perception on time, and relation between humans and their fellows. Strengthening values in the Mentari Sehat Indonesia community in empowerment practices

In the present era, the concept of community empowerment, highlighted in the SDGs, has gained traction as a prevailing phenomenon on the global social landscape. Mentari Sehat Indonesia (MSI) implements a community empowerment practice based on noble values. To describe the noble values that exist in the MSI community in community empowerment practices and the stages of their internalization, the universal noble values category developed by Kluckhohn is used. This research is a single case study with data sourcing from informant, library study, written document and archive, and visual data collected through interview, observation and documentation. 12 people informant was selected purposively based on sex, leadership for regional subsidiary organization, and education level. The study discovered several important values within the MSI Community, including views on life, work, ethics, nature, time, and relationships among people. The internalization of noble values was conducted by MSI community through value transformation, value transaction, and trans-internalization stages. These three stages seem to be a good strategy in forming work character for an organization or community.

Non-Formal Islamic Education Sustainability Construction: Study on the Tahfiz House of Daarul Quran

This research aims to interpret sustainability concepts and practices in Islamic education management in the non-formal spectrum by using interpretive qualitative research methods with content analysis as a tool to describe sustainability in this house (rumah this). This research shows that sustainability is a concept defined as the organization's founder and management's efforts to ensure that the educational program for memorizing Al-Qur’an continues to run and meets the expectations of the various parties involved. By providing scholarships to realize the motto “semua bisa jadi santri (Everyone can be a Santri). This aligns with the SDG's principle of "Education for all". In practice, sustainability is an organizational transformation effort carried out by the founders and management of the organization in the form of establishing a subsidiary organization that specifically manages tahfiz houses as the education center in memorizing Al-Qur’an. The organization's transformation is establishing a partnership based on trust so that the educational goal of SDG's "no one left behind" can be achieved.

Vehicle Records Registration and Management System for Organisations

The purpose of this article was to develop a web-based vehicle records registration and management system for organization. This system allows Babcock University as an academic institution and other subsidiary organisations to manage employee vehicles effectively. The article incorporates Quick Response (QR) code scanning at the gate to display vehicle and owner details, providing a seamless and secure process. The system leverages on Application Program Interface (API) which was developed with Laravel for data storage and retrieval. The software was tested and found useful in improving the security structure of Babcock University and other organisations by identifying all vehicle owners’ at a glance. The Software will also enhance the general vehicle registration of the country with a reminder.

National context and the transfer of transgender diversity policy: An institutional theory perspective on multinational corporation subsidiaries in Pakistan

AbstractDeploying institutional theory to analyze the transfer of transgender diversity policy in Pakistan, our research highlights the crucial influence of national context with respect to the development and implementation of transgender‐supportive equality measures in multinational corporation subsidiaries. Based on semi‐structured interviews with 4 government officials, and 30 managers, HR leads, and diversity officers working in subsidiary organizations, our thematic analysis highlights how regulatory institutions, normative and cognitive institutions, and institutional distance inform the conditions of possibility for the transfer and execution of diversity policy across national boundaries. Moreover, by highlighting the inadequacy of etic understandings of diversity categories and practices in settings where social structures and ideologies can be different, we argue that utilizing an emic approach is essential in the global diversity field. Our research emphasizes the value of context‐sensitive research instead of generic, and universalistic, applications of ‘Western’ diversity understandings.

From the point of view of improving the efficiency of competition law and corporate business management, it is of interest to regulate relations and transactions between the parent and subsidiary organizations. The key to understanding the regulation of relations between the main and subsidiary enterprises is to consider them as a single economic entity and property complex. Therefore, often transactions between the main and subsidiary enterprises are considered as unilateral, gratuitous. In the legal language of Russian justice, the peculiarity of such transactions is called “lack of direct counter representation”. The Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation No. 8989 approved the principle: “The absence of a direct counter-provision is a feature of the relationship between the main and subsidiary companies, which, from an economic point of view, are a single economic entity”. We will look at various cases of jurisprudence (the body of court decisions) that apply this principle, and see how this principle has evolved and developed. Judicial acts referring to Decree No. 8989 have impressively expanded the situational field of its application. Variants of such schemes: gratuitous transfer of fixed assets of the main company to a subsidiary and vice versa, as well as in relations between subsidiary structures; preferential pricing in contractual relations between the main and subsidiary companies, as well as in relations between subsidiary structures (finished products, raw materials, components, energy carriers, works, services, etc.); gratuitous transfer by holding companies of the results of intellectual activity; implementation of the contribution of the main company to the property of the “daughter” in compliance with the procedure established by law; the obligation of the subsidiary company to strictly comply with the specifics of the use of the relevant property established by law for the parent company; forgiveness of the debt of one of the companies associated with corporate control of another; mobilization of dividends of a subsidiary company to pay debts of the main company in the course of its bankruptcy; guarantee transactions of one holding company to secure obligations of another; transactions of preferential borrowing in relations between holding companies; gratuitous transfer of funds from one holding company to another, explicitly or implemented within the framework of a “business contract”.

Organization and planning of the enterprises of the future: legal status

The relevance of the problem under study is the future development of entrepreneurship as the driving force of the economy of the world and highlighting their legal status. Search engines found 768 articles from 2010 to 2023. As a result of the inclusion and exclusion process, 19 articles published in known databases and peer-reviewed scientific journals were selected for review. Existing changes in the world economy, politics, and scientific and technological development are contributing to the creation of new approaches in different fields. Determining the legal status of an enterprise when planning its future activities has also been influenced by these changes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the organization and planning of future enterprises and the main factors affecting their legal status. To achieve the goal, economic, sociological, technological scientific literature 2019-2022 was analyzed. Main results. With the help of empirical research and analysis of scientific data literature, it was found that some of the main factors affecting the determination of the legal status of the future enterprise are the distribution of resources, the development of the digital economy, the implementation of environmental and social innovation, changes in the investment climate, the achievement of sustainable development goals, overcoming poverty. It is suggested to pay attention to such forms of enterprises as social enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, business groups, international enterprises with subsidiary organizations, family enterprises in the future when planning the activities of enterprises. The practical value of the given research can be applied at planning of activity of the enterprise and a choice of its legal status and in further scientific researches.

THE CHARITABLE AND HUMANITARIAN WORK EFFORTS OF THE MUSLIM WORLD LEAGUE

The Muslim World League (MWL) is considered one of the oldest Islamic organizations that took care of charitable and relief work in the Islamic world. Over the past sixty years, it has worked to diversify its charitable, relief and humanitarian activities in line with its position as an organization in support of Muslim peoples. Besides, it has established several subsidiary organizations to handle the task of managing charitable and relief work, such as the International Commission for Relief, Welfare and Development, and the Supreme Council of Mosques, as well as other affiliated organizations that handle religious, cultural and scientific affairs. This article highlights the efforts made by the League in the health, educational, community and relief sectors, by analyzing the League’s official magazine and the periodicals.

Model of Socially Responsible Transfer of Parent Organization Culture to the Subsidiary Organization in a Foreign Cultural Environment Concerning Internal Communication, Stress, and Work Satisfaction

The organizational culture is a significant construct in a time of change during the organizational transition, and it plays an important role in achieving goals of social responsibilities, which is an important part of sustainability. The literature shows the gap of socially responsible transfer of organizational culture with the impact on employee’s well-being. The cultural changes of the organization during the transition are particularly in connection with the impact on internal communication where organizational culture presents a part of values, norms, and ethics, which influences successfully implemented changes and in such a way has an influence on the stress and work satisfaction. The main purpose of the presented study is the development of the model of socially responsible transfer of organizational culture to the foreign subsidiaries on a basis of adjusted internal communication, which reduces stress and increases work satisfaction. Impacts of organizational culture on internal communication, stress, and work satisfaction are clearly presented, as well as inter-related impacts of the constructs concerning national culture, leadership, and organizational knowledge. Thus, the new holistic model of socially responsible transfer of the parent organization culture to foreign subsidiaries clearly defines steps of organizational culture, internal communication, stress management, and work satisfaction. Managerial implications are discussed.

The end of the First World War was a consequence of a whole range of significant problems in the countries of Eastern Europe. These include the general poverty of the population, the decline of the rural industry and industrial production, the general political crisis that increased the popularity of radical communist movements, the change of geopolitical formation in Europe. The main factor that led to the destruction of the imperialist system was World War the first. On the ruins of empires, new independent countries are emerging, including the restored Republic of Poland or the Second Commonwealth. The whole list of problems that often reinforced each other was extremely difficult to overcome solely with the country inner capabilities and reserves. In fact, the period of the 20-30s of the twentieth century becomes the era of the expansion of the international philanthropic organizations activities, among which an important role was taken by American subsidiary organizations. These include the American Relief Administration (ARA), the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and some religious organizations such as the American Mennonites and others. Quite often these organizations were united, sometimes acting separately, or transferring the relay activity from one to another. The involvement of American philanthropic organizations in dealing with the needy countries of Eastern Europe has become possible due to a number of factors. The following of them are the departure from the policy of isolationism, the rapid increase in the US labor productivity, the crisis of overproduction, the formation within the American society of a humanists and philanthropists layer, mainly among the richest and the most influential entrepreneurs (Andrew Carnegie, John Rockefeller, Jacob Schiff, Herbert Hoover, etc.), who, having earned enormous wealth, created non-governmental charitable foundations with the aim of financing the philanthropic projects. Thus the activity of Herbert Hoover American humanitarian organization (the American Relief Administration (ARA)) which was started in 1919 in the US changed the general economic and social situation. Its main purpose was to provide food for Polish children needs. ARA launched a whole network of dining-rooms throughout Poland.

The impact of culture on the management of subsidiary organizations: The case of Viettel in Peru

As south-south investments increase so do the issues experienced by investing companies. One of these is the impact of culture. This article analyzes the effects of the subsidiary country culture on an investing firm’s organizational culture and the managerial practices used to address them. Data is gathered from cultural databases, a company-wide survey and semi structured interviews. Descriptive statistics are used to reveal country and organizational culture differences, with content analysis to expose management responses. There is a clear difference between the firm’s Vietnamese and Peruvian workers, with the company’s practices more amenable to the Vietnamese employees. Recognition of this has resulted in a number of initiatives to reduce its impact. The study’s results offer suggestions that may be valued by other foreign companies interested in operating in Peru and may be especially relevant to Southeast Asia and Asian companies interested in investing in or looking to start operations in Latin America.

However, these companies face numerous challenges, due to local differences compared to the West. In order to facilitate the process, this paper studies practices for building innovation capabilities at German manufacturing subsidiaries in China, taking into account the local challenges. Based on in-depth interviews with managers in China, this study identifies three practices for driving the build-up of innovation capabilities within the subsidiary organisation: build knowledge, establish a mindset for innovation and increase measures for employee retention. The study adds to extant research by detailing these practices with approaches that target local challenges. Compared to the West, the local challenges include differences in skills and knowledge, culture, as well as work behaviour.

Integration of the supply system in design

The article discusses ways to obtain positive effects when integrating the supply system into the design during the implementation and completion of the investment-construction project. The use of the principles of centralization and decentralization with the distribution of the main functions of the parent and subsidiary construction organizations is proposed. The improving mechanism for the material and technical supply system is consolidated according to principles of planning, organization, and control. The stages of a supply system integration into the building design are proposed during the implementation of the investment- construction project. The proposed mechanism allows you to plan the work of the supply system during the construction period, reduce the time frame for the implementation of the investment-construction project and obtain savings in financial resources.

Employee Reactions to HPWS in Multinational Companies: Effects of Subsidiary and Parent Cultures

Research has shown that High-Performance Work Systems (HPWS) are positively related to employee attitudes and performance. However, the boundary conditions of these relationships have been relatively unexplored. In this study we aim to close the gap on this issue by exploring the effect of HPWS in the subsidiaries of multinational companies (MNCs) in the high-tech industry. Drawing on the literatures of person-environment fit and organizational identification, we hypothesized that the relationship between subsidiary HPWS and employee reactions would be moderated by both subsidiary culture and parent culture. Our hypotheses were supported. Specifically, our results based on employees from 44 subsidiaries of 6 MNCs, revealed that (as hypothesized) the relationship between subsidiary HPWS and employee commitment and job satisfaction is intensified when subsidiary organization culture as well as the parent organization culture and HPWS are consistent (converge) with the subsidiary HPWS. Further, as expected, subsidiary employees’ satisfaction and commitment were negatively related to absenteeism and turnover in the subsidiary organization. We discussed the theoretical and practical implications of our findings.

How and when do employees identify with their organization? Perceived CSR, first-party (in)justice, and organizational (mis)trust at workplace

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to inquire how and when the CSR efforts of an organization can generate positive organizational outcomes by influencing individual employees at the workplace. Theorizing perceived first-party justice as psycho-cognitive and affect-based organizational trust as psycho-affective processes, respectively, in interpreting employees’ perception of organizational CSR initiatives provided a valid rationale behind this research.Design/methodology/approachFollowing a two-phase longitudinal research design, sample was drawn from six subsidiary organizations of a multinational conglomerate.FindingsThe findings indicated that the perceived internal image of CSR predicts employees’ deep organizational identification through the mediation of affect-based organizational trust, conditional on perceived first-party justice as a moderator.Research limitations/implicationsThis study contributed to extant research by investigating the hitherto unexplored question of how and when employees’ perceived image of CSR delineates to their deep identification with the organization supported by affect-based organizational trust and self-experienced first-party justice. The collection of survey responses within six group organizations could limit the generalization of the findings from this study in other contexts.Practical implicationsThis study offers significant implications in terms of the managers’ role in involving employees in the organization’s CSR activities, using CSR as a platform for corporate branding to internal stakeholders, and attracting talent in knowledge intensive competition.Originality/valueThe study advances the emerging micro-level approach of CSR by exploring an employee centric, personalized view of organizational CSR and estimating its effect at the level of individual employees.

Legal-System Arbitrage and Parent–Subsidiary Capital Structures

This paper develops a new theory of the capital structure of parent–subsidiary organizations based on legal-system arbitrage: the capital structure of parent–subsidiary organizations is chosen to minimize the agency costs generated by selective renegotiation of claims written on the component legal entities. We show that optimal mixes of parent-subsidiary–level financing minimize the default premia associated with the organization’s overall financing package by equating the marginal enforceability of debt contracts written at the parent and subsidiary levels. The enforceability of creditor claims depends not only on the legal regime but also on the size of the debt claims and the liquidation value of the firm’s assets. Small claims written under a weak creditor rights regime may be more enforceable than large claims written under a regime with strong creditor protection. Thus, all optimal mixes involve some borrowing at the subsidiary level even if the subsidiary legal regime features weaker creditor protection than the parent regime. However, the mix between parent and subsidiary financing tilts toward the regime that features stronger creditor protection. This paper was accepted by Itay Goldstein, finance.

Factors contributing to effective management in the Sakuraebi (Sergia lucens) fishery of Donggang, Taiwan

An in-depth assessment was conducted on the functioning of a Taiwanese Sakuraebi (Sergia lucens) fishery management institution to understand the role of leadership in the context of long-term incentive creation. Interviews with relevant stakeholders and statistical analysis of fisheries data indicated that the daily vessel quota system and fishers’ collective efforts to influence the market resulted in increased sales value, while simultaneously allowing for the equitable distribution of benefits from the Sakuraebi fishery in Donggang, Taiwan. Local fishers expressed a high level of satisfaction with the corresponding activities initiated by the fisher's organization. Interview respondents felt that promotional marketing activities led by the organization to enhance domestic consumption were particularly effective, and statistical analysis suggests that these activities helped to reduce the dependency of Taiwanese Sakuraebi fishers on export markets. A notable characteristic of this fishery is that it combines a large-scale sales organization, which enables the exertion of market influence, with a small-sized subsidiary organization for fisheries management. An annually rotating leadership system for managing fishery operations also provides members with the opportunity to share a sense of participation and responsibility, while keeping long-term policy goals. This study reinforces previous findings that leadership, social cohesion, and the nature of the resource are key factors determining the effectiveness and success of fisheries management.
