Polymer-based organic long-persistent luminescence materials (OLPLMs) with good stretchability have attracted considerable attention due to their effective response to environmental stimuli and wide selection of application scenarios. However, the lack of a suitable stretchable polymer matrix has been a major limitation in the development of strongly stretchable OLPLMs. Here, we present a straightforward and universal method to fabricate a stretchable afterglow effect under ultraviolet or visible light by blending the flexible polymer styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) with various phosphors that display superior stretchability compared to the reported OLPLMs. To further highlight the outstanding benefits of such stretchable OLPLMs in the field of security applications, we show their practical cases in safety warning, identity recognition and oxygen detection scenarios. This universal material preparation strategy will simplify the production of stretchable OLPLMs and broaden the application range of phosphors or luminescent dyes.
