The article deals with the thiasos of the basilistai (βασιλισταὶ), a cult community that revered the Ptolemaic dynasty. According to the unanimous opinion of researchers, the main role in this association was played by the soldiers and officers of the Ptolemaic army. The paucity and fragmentary preservation of sources determine the main difficulties for a comprehensive study of this religious organization. The author of the article, having summarized the source material, including new epigraphic finds from Lycian Limira, makes an attempt to determine the characteristic features of the community of the basilistai, expresses his point of view on the problem of the chronological framework of the existence of thiasos, and also suggests what could serve as a prototype - an organization that influenced the formation of a religious associations.
