Memperkuat Persatuan Bangsa di Era Globalisasi Mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Elektro Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya

The era of globalization brings big challenges to the unity of the Indonesian nation, including among students. This research focuses on the role of Electrical Engineering Study Program students at PGRI Adi Buana University, Surabaya in strengthening national unity amidst globalization. The method used is a case study with a qualitative approach, involving in-depth interviews and participatory observation of 5 Electrical Engineering students. The research results show that students can contribute through: 1) Understanding and interpreting the concept of national unity, 2) Applying the principles of unity in their daily activities, 3) Working together with students from other majors to strengthen national unity, 4) Contributing to maintaining national values in the era of globalization, 5) Using social media responsibly.

DAMPAK GLOBALISASI TERHADAP TINGKAT LITERASI DIGITAL DI KALANGAN REMAJA PADA MAHASISWA ELEKTRO UNIVERSITAS PENDIDIKAN INDONESIA

This research aims to determine the digital literacy level of Electrical Engineering students from the Indonesian University of Education based on a survey in 2024. A digital questionnaire is used to gather information on technology use, self-assessment of digital literacy, and the challenges faced. The findings show that many students depend on the internet and social media, but have not evenly mastered the concept of digital literacy. Analysis based on youth age reveals that the 18-20 year old group needs intensive training compared to 21-23 year olds. Globalization provides wide access to information but creates challenges in sorting information. Rapid technological developments also require an independent commitment to learning digital literacy. Some of the recommendations include the integration of digital literacy materials into the curriculum, implementation of regular training, interactive online learning, and assistance to vulnerable groups. It is hoped that this research can describe the initial conditions of digital literacy and provide input for appropriate development programs to improve students' digital literacy competencies according to the demands of the current digital era.

Investigating the Impacts of A Simulation-Based Learning Model Using Simulation Virtual Laboratory on Engineering Students

Considering electrical engineering students at Universitas Negeri Medan as a case study, this research looks at how an SVL affected their grades. Integrating the TAM with the ABET Laboratory Learning Objectives, it provides a comprehensive framework for quality engineering and technology education. This research is the first of its kind to theoretically compare the two concepts in a VL context. This research examines the relationship between student performance in the classroom and the TAM's usability components as well as the ABET's learning objectives. The results from the surveys given to first-year Electrical Engineering students are analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Partial Least Squares (PLS). Because it enhances student performance and satisfies their learning goals, the results demonstrate that utilizing simulation-based virtual laboratories (SVL) in engineering education offers substantial educational benefits.

A Comparative Study of Students Graduation Analysis Using Classification Methods in Undergraduate Electrical Engineering Tidar University

This research aimed to classify achievement factors for electrical engineering students at Tidar University using K-Means and Agglomerative Clustering classification algorithms. The goal was to understand if any parameters influence high-achieving student performance. The Indonesian government and private sector for university students provide significant education funds. Student scholarships are awarded based primarily on GPA and entry path, overburdening staff and causing confusion during distribution to eligible recipients. A system was needed to accommodate additional eligible criteria. The researcher selected factors to identify engineering student performance, including school origin, entry path, tuition fees, and GPA. These inputs could determine graduation status. The results compared calculation methods based on collected data accuracy, processing times, and characterizing clustered data to determine the best classification method. Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering performed better. Accuracy testing on 600 training data points yielded 73.94% for improved K-means and 90.42% for AHC. The Average processing time was 674.92 seconds for improved K-means and 554.35 seconds for AHC. Silhouette testing also characterized calculation methods, with improved K-means scoring best at 0.654 and AHC at 0.787 using two clusters.

Teaching of Physics in Engineering from Problem-Based and Project-Based Learning Approaches

Within the scope of this research, an evaluation was conducted on the problem-based learning (PBL) and project-based learning (PrBL) methods in teaching physics to mechanical and electrical engineering students at a public university in Peru. Two groups, each consisting of 15 and 16 students, were carefully selected to ensure uniformity in academic, socioeconomic, and emotional aspects. The measurement of academic performance was conducted both at the beginning and the end of the period. The statistical analysis using the t-student test revealed that the PrBL method was significantly more effective than PBL. These findings underscore the association between the choice of learning methods and the specific scientific area being taught, emphasizing the superiority of the PrBL approach in this educational context. This discovery suggests that implementing learning strategies that incorporate a project-based approach can be a valuable option to enhance academic performance in scientific disciplines.

Evaluation of a novel General Education Courses on Radiation Protection for Undergraduates.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a general education course titled "The Basis of Radiation Protection" in building and strengthening undergraduate awareness of radiation safety and cultivating innovative individuals with reasonable knowledge structures and strong practical abilities. Methods: All students from 2021 to 2022 enrolled in the core general education course "The Basis of Radiation Protection" at Shandong University of China were invited to participate. A questionnaire survey was conducted to determine changes in the students' basic cognition of radiation safety and scientific protection before and after the course. Results: The survey indicated that the cognitive level of radiation science protection had significantly improved through course completion. The Liszt quantification score range increased from 3.45 to 4.77 to 4.81 to 4.98 (p < 0.001). Further analysis revealed that different professional backgrounds significantly affected students' understanding of radiation safety protection; medical students were superior to electrical engineering students in their knowledge of ionizing radiation before the course (p < 0.001). However, after course completion, the understanding of students from both majors regarding radiation safety had relatively improved, and no significant difference was detected (p > 0.05). Feedback on the course showed that the awareness of "daily radiation protection" had significantly improved (96.8%), pseudoscience and pseudo-information could be correctively identified (93.6%), "nuclear power"-related fears had been dispelled (95.7%), and the concept of "cherishing life" had been effectively established (91.5%). Conclusion: The course effectively improved the awareness of radiation safety, strengthened the knowledge system, and provided a new way to cultivate innovative talent with reasonable knowledge structures.

Kesiapan Kerja Setelah Melaksanakan Praktek Kerja Industri Siswa Kelas XII SMK Negeri 2 Solok

This research aims to determine the impact of industrial work practices on the readiness for work among 12th-grade students in electrical installation engineering at SMK Negeri 2 Solok. This study falls under quantitative research, with the research subjects being 26 12th-grade students in electrical installation engineering at SMK Negeri 2 Solok. Data collection was done through questionnaires and documentation. The questionnaire was used to measure variables related to industrial work practices, student readiness, and the location of industrial work practice. Data analysis was conducted using data analysis tests for normality, homogeneity, and the F-test. The questionnaire results indicate an influence on the readiness for work among 12th-grade students in electrical installation engineering, with an average questionnaire score of 178, a maximum score of 218, a minimum score of 117, and a standard deviation of 23.681. The normality test yielded a sig(2-tailed) value of 0.894 &gt; 0.05, the homogeneity test had a sig value of 0.758 &gt; 0.05, and the F-test had a sig value of 0.013 &lt; 0.05. Based on the data analysis results, it can be concluded that there is an impact after conducting industrial work practice on the readiness for work among 12th-grade students in electrical installation engineering.

Effective virtual laboratory to build constructivist thinking in electrical measurement practicum

Constructivism serves as a basic theory in education, and plays an important role, because this perspective views learning as a dynamic process in which students actively participate in constructing their knowledge. So, this research aims to produce a virtual laboratory that is valid and effective in developing constructivist thinking. This research and development use the Ploom approach which consists of initial investigation, design, construction/realization, testing, evaluation, revision, and implementation. Thirty-two electrical engineering students from Padang State University participated in this research. The instruments used are validity instruments and constructivism assessment tools. The research results show that the Proteus-based virtual laboratory developed is valid and effective in fostering constructivist thinking in electrical measurement practice. This study contributes to the advancement of virtual laboratories in educational settings, emphasizing the importance of constructivist pedagogy for meaningful and engaging learning experiences in the field of electrical engineering. The results of this research open opportunities for further research regarding the exploration of artificial intelligence to improve constructivism through virtual laboratories.

The effectiveness of the SPjBL learning model in improving creative thinking skills of electrical engineering students

One of the problems that is often encountered in the current study of the electrical engineering department is students’ low level of creative thinking skills. Therefore, this study aimed to test the effectiveness of the Sustainable Project Based Learning (SPjBL) learning model in improving the creative thinking skills of electrical engineering students. The experimental model used in this research was classroom action research. The research method used was an experiment with data obtained from 69 respondents from two groups of students. The obtained data were analyzed using an independent t test and NGain Score. The results showed that the SPjBL learning model was effective in improving the thinking skills of electrical engineering students. Furthermore, this research is expected to provide a comparison in determining the type of learning model that is suitable for teaching-learning activities at schools.

Genre analysis of introduction section in electrical engineering undergraduate laboratory reports.

This study examines the genre of Engineering Laboratory Reports (ELR) introduction section written by Electrical Engineering Undergraduates in a higher learning institution. The aims of this study are to identify the rhetorical moves and combinations of move patterns used by electrical engineering (EE) students to write introduction section. A genre analysis was conducted to identify writing patterns and convention practices of engineering undergraduate students thus a corpus of N = 35 was selected from electrical engineering students in their final year of study. This study adopted Genre Theory as its theoretical framework, Ngowu 1997 analytical framework and BCU approach for analysis procedure. A pilot test was conducted to determine the model that fits the best to describe moves and steps of ELR. Coding scheme was developed and intercoder reliability showed a significance of 0.91 The study benchmarks a move or step to be present in at least 60% of the reports. The finding shows the introduction consists of one main move which is providing background information of the experiment and followed by four subsequent steps which are reference to research purposes, reference to theoretical knowledge in the field, providing an overview of the study and identification of main research apparatus. The move 1 and all four steps identified above are viewed as obligatory, conventional and optional move and steps in introduction section among undergraduates in academic context. The exemplification of finding shows lack of compliance among undergraduates to produce EELR based on university's guideline in discussing previous literature and underpinning theories, lack of referencing and citation, absence in describing apparatus used and non-sequential moves steps. This study posits the importance of collaboration between English for Academic (EAP) practitioners such as English-writing instructors and discipline specific specialist from engineering field to further improve on genre-based writing instruction, and to identify student learning needs. The method employed in this study may be replicated to analyse other sections of scientific and technical reports such as method, result, discussion and conclusion (MRDC) that may pave ways to address grey areas for improvement in this genre.

Streamlining Electrical Distribution Using LVMDP Panels in Indonesia

This study investigates the efficiency of load balancing in Low Voltage Main Distribution Panels (LVMDP) through an industrial internship program for Electrical Engineering students. Utilizing a descriptive methodology with observation-based data collection, the research highlights the distribution of power across R-S-T phases—12,944.00 W, 12,912.00 W, and 13,032.00 W, respectively—demonstrating a nearly balanced load. The findings suggest that practical training can significantly enhance understanding and management of electrical panels, offering crucial insights into improving electrical distribution systems globally. Highlights: Hands-on Training: Students gain practical experience in electrical panel manufacturing, enhancing their skills and understanding of real-world applications. Critical Infrastructure: LVMDP panels play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and safe electricity distribution within buildings, emphasizing the importance of their construction and maintenance. Application of the Problem Based Learning Model Combined with Think Pair Share to Improve Conceptual Understanding and Applied Physics Learning Outcomes for Electrical Engineering Students

This research aims to improve understanding of physics concepts and learning outcomes of Electrical Engineering students at the Politeknik Muhammadiyah Tegal by using the Problem Based Learning model combined with Think Pair Share on dynamic electrical material. The research instruments used were lecturer and student observation sheets, worksheets and test question sheets. In the analysis of students' conceptual understanding, an increase of 8.58% was obtained from cycle I to cycle II. Meanwhile, in the analysis of student learning outcomes in cycle I, the number of students who passed was 61.76%, and in cycle II the number of students who passed was 82.35%. The results of this research show that the application of the Problem Based Learning model combined with Think Pair Share can improve students' understanding of concepts and learning outcomes.

LESSONS LEARNED FROM STUDENT REFLECTIONS: A HANDS-ON, INTEGRATED CURRICULUM APPROACH

At the University of Calgary, we conducted an integrated curriculum approach for students of electrical engineering in their second year. This program’s goal was to nurture deep learning in students, beyond the shallow experiences normally encountered in a traditional fragmented style of course based learning [5]. With the aim of improving learning strategies of students, they were asked to fill out surveys based on their reflections on their weekly learning during the program. Using qualitative coding, student reflections were analyzed with a framework from self-determination theory to understand the student learning and motivation throughout the program. Eleven themes emerged which were categorized within the three elements of the theoretical framework: competence, relatedness, and autonomy. The aim of this analysis is to focus on how ILS and student learning strategies can be improved in order to enhance the quality of student learning.

Developing EFL Critical Reading Aids: Project-Based Learning Activities for Electrical Industrial Engineering Students

The Independent Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) curriculum for vocational education provided learning experiences for students. However, the reading material conducted had not reached the curriculum target. Thus, this study aimed to develop critical reading material and worksheets based on the MBKM curriculum. The development procedure was designed in three stages: defining, designing, and developing for 3-D aids. The research resources employed were validation sheets for critical reading aids and semi-observation sheets to provide student activity during PjBL field trial. The results of this study were project-based learning (PjBL) used to construct English language learning aids for the syllabus and coursework units, including worksheets for critical reading. Hence, this learning aid could slightly enhance students' reading competence, which could lead them to have soft and hard skills as well as meet the MBKM curriculum target.

Systematic development of entrepreneurship skills framework for students of electrical technology in Nigeria

The rising rate of youth unemployment and the attendant consequences on the general population in Nigeria called for concern. The academia and other relevant stakeholders have gradually come to realize that the possession of academic qualifications alone cannot guarantee a good quality job. Thus, many of Nigerian higher institutions are now introducing entrepreneurship studies into their school curriculum without a clear framework. This study intends to create a topology of skills that will help Electrical Technology students in Nigeria find jobs. To gather information about the different skills needed, the Google Scholar search engine was adopted. The search was between 2018 and 2023. The inclusion criteria involve entrepreneurship studies with a focus on Technical Education, Vocational education, and Electrical Technology. A total of 80 Journal articles were extracted for the study. Data were directly collected from the critical stakeholders. The study was guided by 3 objectives. The participants for the study involved 12 experts from the industry and academics. The sample size was purposive and obtained based on Theoretical saturation. The topology of skills was achieved with the application of the Nvivo12 software and the thematic analysis. A Broad skill suitable for the 21st-century job matching for electrical technology students was generated. The study is recommended for in-depth analysis in order the isolate all the in fits.

Development of the Bipolar Junction Transistor Diagnostic Test (BJTDT) to explore the second-year undergraduate Myanmar electronic and Thai electrical engineering students’ understanding of BJT working principles and applications

ABSTRACT A bipolar junction transistor (BJT) and its operation are fundamental concepts for the understanding of power electronics (industrial electronics), transistor-transistor logic (TTL), electronic switching, and signal amplification in modern electronics. Previous research showed that non-major engineering, computer, electronic, and electrical engineering students could not understand the basic concepts involved in a BJT. This paper describes the development of a two-tier diagnostic test, the test’s administration, limitations, the participants’ detailed context, and findings from a study that explores Myanmar and Thai second-year undergraduate students’ understanding of BJT working principles and applications. The results revealed that many students in both countries had the same alternative conceptions about collector current in each operation mode of the BJT. Some alternative conceptions differ from the previous research, such as a) the collector current does not depend on the base current in cut-off mode, and b) changing the collector current does not depend on the base current in active mode, but it depends on the collector supply voltage. These research findings provide valuable information and instruments for teachers to insight, prevent, and correct the alternative conceptions proposed by students.

Namere o preduzetništvu ispitivane kroz prizmu stavova studenata

The labour markets of the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe relied on stronger growth of the corporate sector as a mechanism for integrating the growing number of laid-off workers. The Serbian labour market has had a similar experience. Decades after the start of economic reforms, however, the role of entrepreneurship as an integrative employment mechanism has not increased in importance, which is best evidenced by statistical data. This paper focuses on students' intention to start their own business after graduation, and specifically examines the relationship between intention and personal attitudes. The experiment was conducted with two groups of students. The results indicate differences in students' attitudes towards entrepreneurship that deepen according to faculty group, gender, and year of study. From the students' responses, it can be concluded that electrical engineering students, female economics students and students in higher years of study are more inclined towards entrepreneurship. This may have implications for measures to support the development of youth entrepreneurship.

Student Development through Comprehensive Training for Placement Improvement: A Quality Circle Approach

Abstract— Contribution of Engineering Education to the sustainable development of the industry have shown its importance. In each phase of industry revolution, core engineering branches have played significant role by providing competent engineering graduates. Over the years’ industry requirements are changed accordingly the employability skills of the graduates needs to be uphold. Further, the core engineering branches are facing challenges to adopt the revolution of allied engineering branches and courses. To address these issues, the students of core engineering branches to be trained in various dimensions for filling this gap. Thus, the paper discusses the development of students of core engineering through means of comprehensive training to make them employable with quality circle approach. The comprehensive training has been conducted for specific set of students of electrical engineering for placements in core companies with higher packages. Various surveys have been conducted to identify the skill-set requirements of students and expectations of industry.survey conducted. The outcome of the comprehensive training is found to be efficient in terms of placement opportunities and improvements in packages.
