The Religious Cognition: A Meta-Analysis Study of Indonesian Students' Religious Learning Achievement

The large number of published studies related to religious learning achievement in the cognitive domain certainly raises questions in the minds of research users, especially if the conclusions produced vary from one study to another. Therefore, to find out the average of students' religious learning achievement in Indonesia on the cognitive aspect, it is necessary to carry out a meta-analysis. The meta-analysis in this study aims to determine the average effect size of the aggregate Islamic learning achievement of students in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative approach using meta-analysis. Research data was collected from various studies including journal articles, theses and student theses from 2009-2023 which were obtained through internet searches using the keyword Islamic learning achievement. The results of the research show that the average Islamic learning achievement of Indonesian students is 83.00 with a standard error of the weighted random model of 1.526 with a combined average score of 80.05 and an upper limit of 85.95. This shows that the ability/achievement in learning the Islamic religion of Indonesian students at the elementary to middle school levels has exceeded the minimum completeness, namely 75. Based on the Regression Method and Trim and Fill analysis, it was found that there was no publication bias. So the conclusions made based on the random effect model regarding the average cognitive abilities of students are valid.

Problem Faced by Indonesian Internship Students in Thai English Language Teaching Classroom Context

What are the problems faced by Indonesian internship students in Thai English Language Teaching Classrooms Based on the problem statement, the proposed objective is to find out the problem or the obstacles experienced by internship students in English language teaching classrooms while teaching in Thailand School. Considering the different cultural backgrounds, this research is expected to explore the internship problems and whether internship students experience any cultural issues. This research uses a qualitative method that explores cross-cultural communication issues in participants, according to Creswell (2018, p. 294) In most cases, qualitative research presents the data, interprets the data, validates it, and shows the potential of the research results in order to expand the steps of data analysis and the methods used. In qualitative research, the social context is taken into consideration while examining events from the perspectives of the individuals being studied. This includes research that uses interpretative naturalistic techniques (Denzin & Lincoln, 2005 Kihlgren, 2016). The findings of the interviews from the three domains of problems faced by the internship students during the teaching internship program are based on the findings of the interview results that have been conducted by the researcher. 1. Teaching Learning Aspects as the Problem in ELT Classroom, 2. Personal Aspects as the Problem in ELT Classroom, 3. Communication Aspects as the Problem in ELT Classroom. Based on the findings that the researcher has found, the difficulties experienced by internship students during the internship program are quite varied, so it is in accordance with the problems found by the researcher that the main problems experienced by internship students in the internship program come from the cross-cultural problems that occur in English language teaching classrooms.

THE EFFECT of The PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) MODEL on STUDENTS’ SCIENCE LITERACY SKILLS on INDONESIA’S ECOLOGY and BIODIVERSITY MATERIALS

Background: Science literacy is the capacity to use clinical information to pick out troubles and draw conclusions based totally on proof so that you can understand and make selections approximately nature and modifications made to nature via human activities. Based on PISA data and preliminary study data, the literacy of science competencies of Indonesian students is still low. One of the learnings that has a positive influence on science literacy is problem-based learning (PBL). Methods: This study applied the Quasi Experiment method with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Gunung Talang, Solok Regency, West Sumatra in class VII in the 2023/2024 school year. Results: The average value of the experimental class is higher than the average of the control class on the posttest data. The hypothesis test results show that t'count 3.372 is greater than t'table 2.008, so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Conclusion: The application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model affects the science literacy skills of students in Indonesian Ecology and Biodiversity material.

Transformation of Pancasila Student Profile: Integration of religious dimensions through school culture and character education in elementary schools

The transformation of the Pancasila Student Profile is a key effort in shaping the character and national identity of students in Indonesia. This study explores integrating religious dimensions into school culture to strengthen the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile at the elementary school level. The research method used is a literature study, in-depth analysis of educational policies, school practices, and relevant character education theories. The focus of this study is on implementing religious values as an integral part of school culture and its impact on the formation of student attitudes and behaviours through the Pancasila Student Profile. The literature reviewed includes various studies and reports highlighting the importance of religious values in character education and models of success from schools that have successfully integrated this dimension. The study results indicate that integrating religious values into school culture significantly strengthens students' commitment to the principles of Pancasila and contributes to the formation of characters that are more virtuous, responsible, and caring about the social environment. This study concludes that effective transformation of the Pancasila Student Profile requires a holistic approach involving all school elements in instilling positive religious and cultural values. Practical recommendations for educators and policymakers include developing curricula sensitive to religious values and increased training for teachers to support effective integration in school settings.

Development of New Todame Learning Media to Improve Problem-Solving Skills on Newton's Law for High School Students

The problem-solving skills of Indonesian students are still relatively low, especially in complex subjects like Newton's law in Physics. Therefore, a learning Media is needed to improve these skills, such as the Tournament-based Truth or Dare Online Card (New Todame) to enhance problem-solving abilities, specifically on Newton's law. This study aims to: (1) gather information about media needs from teachers and students, (2) develop New Todame media, (3) assess the feasibility of the media, (4) gather feedback on user satisfaction, and (5) examine the improvement in problem-solving skills after using the New Todame media. This research is development research (R&D) using the ADDIE design, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. Data collection was done through interviews, preliminary study questionnaires, validation sheets, feasibility questionnaires, and pretest & posttest sheets. The results indicate that New Todame is feasible for use, and there is an improvement in problem-solving skills on Newton's law after using the New Todame media, with an N-Gain score of 0.455, categorized as moderate.

The Mediating Role of Self-Esteem in the Relationship Between Self-Efficacy and Socio-Cultural Adaptation: A Case Study of AuPair Program Alumni

This research has a purpose to determine the direct and indirect influence of self-efficacy on sociocultural adaptation through the self-esteem of Indonesian students who take part in the AuPair program in Germany. The research sample was 53 Indonesian students who had participated in the Au Pair program in Germany. Not many alumni of the Au Pair program come from Indonesia. In 5 years (2017-2022) only 53 young people from Indonesia have participated in this program. The research instrument uses a questionnaire compiled from developing indicators for each variable. Data analysis techniques use description analysis, normality test, multiple regression, correlation coefficient analysis, and hypothesis testing using the SPSS 25 application. Research results: self-efficacy can be a good predictor for sociocultural adaptation variables and self-esteem. However, self-esteem cannot be a mediating variable for self-efficacy on sociocultural adaptation. Self-efficacy and self-esteem are both independent variables that can contribute to socio-cultural adaptation. The implication is that every Indonesian student who wants to continue their studies abroad must increase their self-efficacy and self-esteem through various training or mentoring programs regarding the culture of the country they are going to and the skills needed by prospective students abroad. There needs to be further research involving a larger sample which might produce different results and analyze the factors causing why self-efficacy does not have an indirect effect on socio-cultural adaptation through self-esteem.

<p>The preposition word "给" is a hypothetical word widely used in modern Chinese. In Chinese grammar, the preposition word "给" has many meanings and the functions of using this word vary. Preposition words Indonesian, such as "for", "to", and "by" are similar to the preposition word "给" in modern Chinese. In this paper, we will analyze the Chinese preposition word "给" and the Indonesian preposition word "for", "to", and "by" to find out each of the functions of the word, so that we can also know the similarities and differences between them. And this can cause, Indonesian students who are learning Mandarin are confused and use it incorrectly. Indonesian students have been using their mother tongue since childhood before they learned Mandarin as their second language, so their mother tongue will definitely have an impact on learning Mandarin as the target language. For example, the order of words in sentences between the two is different, so Indonesian students in the process of learning the preposition word "给", they use it incorrectly. Therefore, for Chinese teachers, we should think about the following points in our teaching: First, as qualified Chinese teachers, we must first understand the difference between Chinese grammar system and Indonesian, so as to remind students to avoid bias at any time in teaching. Secondly, as a teacher, you must be clear about the difficulties and key points in teaching, and repeatedly explain these two points to strengthen students' impressions of these key points and the difficulties to avoid bias in the future. Of course, we must also choose comprehensive textbooks, and for the shortcomings in textbooks, teachers must try their best to make up for these shortcomings.</p>

面向印尼学生的“听说+读写”高效教学模式探析

<p>In response to the actual needs of Indonesian students in learning Chinese,Sekolah Tinggi Bahasa Harapan Bersama in Pontianak and the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Jinan University have cooperated to open an efficient teaching model of "listening, speaking + reading and writing", in order to quickly improve students' Chinese use ability in a short period of time. This study intends to compare the efficient model with the traditional Indonesian undergraduate teaching model from the aspects of curriculum setting, teaching content, teaching methods and teaching strategies, so as to better meet the needs of different learners. In terms of curriculum setting, the efficient mode adopts the concept of "small steps and fast walking", and the course type is streamlined into two categories: "listening and speaking" and "reading and writing". In terms of teaching content, the study aims to analyze the differences in the content learned by comparing the number of new words taught in one semester and the difficulty level of the two modes. In terms of teaching methods and strategies, the teaching model of "listening, speaking + reading and writing" proposes teaching strategies including "language 'use' for middle school", 'increasing input' and 'running in small steps'". On the basis of teaching practice, this paper evaluates the practical effect of the effective teaching mode of "listening, speaking + reading and writing" for Indonesian students from the aspects of Chinese proficiency test scores, daily homework and activity performance, and then reflects on and improves the teaching practice.</p>

The influence of parental involvement on academic and sporting achievement: a study of Indonesian students in West Sumatra

This study investigates the impact of parental involvement on students' academic and sporting achievements in Padang, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Using a sample of 112 junior high school students, we examined how different forms of parental involvement correlate with students' participation in competitive sports and academic performance. The research employed a quantitative approach, utilizing surveys and statistical analysis including ANOVA. Results indicate that students with parents involved in both academic and sporting activities show significantly higher rates of participation in competitive sports (64.4%) compared to those with uninvolved parents (48.4%). Moreover, students whose parents were involved in their studies reported higher academic achievements and were more likely to receive academic awards. The study also explored the concept of strength-based parenting (SBP) and its potential benefits. Our findings underscore the importance of comprehensive parental involvement in fostering children's success in both academic and athletic domains, providing valuable insights for educators and policymakers in Indonesia and beyond. Leveraging ChatGPT to enhance students’ writing skills, engagement, and feedback literacy

The rapid development of technology has dramatically increased the use of AI chatbots in English Language Teaching (ELT). This research investigates the role of AI chatbots in English as Foreign Language (EFL) students’ writing by addressing the following three main goals: (1) to measure how AI chatbots affect students' writing learning outcomes, (2) to evaluate their impact on writing feedback literacy and engagement, and (3) to explore how students use AI chatbots to improve these areas. Fifty Indonesian university students undertaking an Economic English course participated in this mixed-methods study, divided into an experimental group and a control group, each with 25 students. Data collection instruments included tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed statistically, while qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis. The findings revealed that the experimental group using AI chatbots showed significant improvements in writing outcomes. Additionally, this group demonstrated notable advancements in both writing feedback literacy and engagement. Students employed various strategies such as interactive writing practice, personalized learning plans, guidance on reading materials, acting upon feedback, peer feedback, gamified learning, and community building to enhance these areas. These results advance our understanding of the role of AI chatbots and inform instructional strategies in ELT.

Socio-Demographic Determinants of Insurance Literacy among University Students in Indonesia

Introduction/Main Objectives: This research aims to investigate the level of insurance literacy among economics and business students and identify the socio-demographic factors impacting the level of insurance literacy. Background Problems: Low insurance literacy has long been identified as the cause behind the weak insurance penetration growth in Indonesia. College students area potential market for the development and deepening of the insurance sector. Novelty: However, hardly any studies have been published that assess the insurance literacy of university students in Indonesia. This study also presents a unique view of students’ insurance knowledge across different universities in Indonesia, providing an understanding of the factors contributing to their literacy level. Research Methods: We conduct the commonly applied ordinary least squares test on the survey data collected using stratified random sampling. Findings/Results: The test results conclude that students from universities in Java, who have mothers who graduated from college, come from middle-income families, and live in Java have significantly higher insurance literacy levels compared to the rest of the students. However, gender and residency do not seem to significantly impact insurance literacy. Conclusion: Our study shows that socio-demographic factors influence university students’ level of insurance literacy. These findings provide valuable information for policymakers and insurance firms to target this potential market with their insurance products.

English is an agreed language as a world/international language, so this subject is a course or lesson that must be taken by all students and college students in Indonesia from elementary level to college as a compulsory course in the English Language Teaching (ELT) series. IAI Darussalam Blokagung Banyuwangi is a pesantren-based college campus, so the purpose of this research is to find out to what extent the educators integrate ELT with Islamic Studies in accordance with their study programs. The research method used is Descriptive Qualitative which determines the subjects of this study are several lecturers and students with data collection techniques prioritized from interviews and supported by observation and documentation. From the process in the field, it is found that the implementation of ELT which is integrated with Islamic Studies has been implemented even though it is still not totally, and this provides insight to students so that they can communicate about Islamic studies using English.

Exploring Of Students’ Speaking Anxiety Among Third-Grade Junior High School Students’

Students' anxiety in speaking English has become a major concern in the context of second language learning. This research aims to identify factors that influence students' anxiety when speaking English and its impact on their speaking abilities. The research focused on grade 9 junior high school students in Indonesia. selected based on their experiences in speaking English during English class. The research method involves surveys and interviews with English students at various school levels. Using a comprehensive approach, this research aims to understand the internal and external factors contributing to students' anxiety levels when communicating in English. The findings highlight the prevalence of internal factors, notably fear of making mistakes (69.6%), and external factors like limited vocabulary (87%). This anxiety correlates with students' diminished speaking skills, evident in avoidance behaviors and less coherent speech. To mitigate these challenges, tailored learning strategies are imperative to boost students' confidence in English. Proactive measures should target building self-assurance, overcoming fear of errors, and actively expanding vocabulary. By addressing these concerns, educators can foster an environment conducive to enhanced English communication skills among students’.

PELATIHAN METODE TEMATIK DIGITAL QUR`Ä€N BAGI TUTOR PAI UPI UNTUK MENANGKAL INTOLERANSI BERAGAMA PADA MAHASISWA

Various studies have found that around 50% of Indonesian students and university students are intolerant. Other research results show that students are more intolerant of fellow Muslims from different schools of thought. The roots of intolerance are twofold. First, they misunderstand the meaning of believer and disbeliever in the Qur’ān. Second, they misunderstood the basics of other religions and schools of thought. The training aims to provide digital thematic methods of the Qur’ān to build substantive religiosity and religious tolerance for PAI tutors. The training method uses lectures, questions and answers, discussions, demonstrations, implementation exercises, and small group guidance via zoom. The training participants were 50 prospective PAI tutor students. The training was successful because most of the participants: First, they were able to implement the Thematic digital Qur`ān method; second, looking at the meaning of believing-unbeliever refers to good and evil characters, not referring to religious identity; and third, to better understand the implications of religion directly from the Qur’ān in a substantive and tolerant manner.

The Representation of Global Competence in a Senior High School English Textbook in Indonesia

Global competence (GC) helps to overcome multidimensional problems that should be learned in education. The integration of it can be done through the English for Change textbook which is the current and latest English textbook applying the Merdeka Curriculum. This research investigates the representation of GC in the English for Change textbook for 11th-grade Indonesian senior high school students. This qualitative research employed Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to evaluate and analyze the representation of GC in the 'English for Change’ textbook, which follows the Merdeka Curriculum. The analysis was started by reading and codifying some parts of the textbook to four dimensions of GC from OECD PISA, which are examining the local, global, and intercultural problems; understanding and appreciating various perspectives from others; engaging in open, appropriate, and effective multicultural interaction; and taking action for the development and sustainability of well-being. The finding reveals that GC is represented sufficiently which can be found in 59 pages in the book. The most dimension used is to take action for collective well-being and sustainable development with a percentage of 42.37%. However, examining local, international, and intercultural problem dimensions should be exposed more in the book with a percentage of only 11.86%. Therefore, teachers and students need to learn GC through the English for Change textbook and expand additional insights about multidimensional problems through other learning resources besides the English for Change textbook.

The social media usage and their effect on Tourism marketing behavior A Study among University International Students in Indonesia

This study investigates the impact of social media on tourism marketing behavior among international students in Indonesia. Employing a descriptive research method utilizing a qualitative approach, in some groups it was conducted with international students to explore their travel experiences and the influence of social media on their destination choices. The findings reveal that social media plays a significant role in shaping students' travel decisions, with a particular emphasis on the importance of visual platforms like Instagram and YouTube and their specific interests in how and where to visit with the help of these platforms. This research contributes to the existing literature on the role of social media in tourism marketing and provides insights into the preferences and behaviors of international students, a key demographic in the tourism industry. The discussion covers the range of interests that students have in artificial, cultural, and natural tourism as well as more niche types including MICE, health, and information tourism. Notably, participants stressed the need for thorough travel information, especially about lodging, meals, transportation, and guided tours information that is mostly found online. The study emphasizes how social media use and the diverse range of tourist experiences that foreign students in Indonesia are looking for are intricately related. Overall, this investigation clarifies the mutually beneficial relationship between social media dynamics and traveller behaviours, revealing information that is essential for academics and industry participants to comprehend in order to fully utilize digital platforms in modern tourism.
