The Role of Educational Institution Administrators in Operating the Student Care and Assistance System at Vocational Colleges in Chonburi Province

Background and Aims: The objectives of this research are as follows: 1. to study and evaluate the operational level of the student care and assistance system. Students in vocational colleges in Chonburi Province 2. To compare the performance of the student care and assistance system in such colleges classified by status. and 3. to propose guidelines for operations related to the role of school administrators in developing student care and support systems for students in vocational colleges in Chonburi Province. Methodology: The sample group in this research consisted of administrators and teachers from vocational educational institutions in Chonburi province, totaling 269 people, using questionnaires as a tool for collecting data. which has a reliability value of the questionnaire at 0.97. For data analysis, basic statistics were used, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. As for hypothesis testing, t-test statistics were used. Results: The finding found that (1) The opinion regarding the role of educational institution administrators in operating the student care and support system Students in vocational colleges in Chonburi Province Overall it is at a high level. (2) Level of opinions regarding the role of educational institution administrators in operating the student care and assistance system, classified by gender, found that overall there was no difference. When considering each aspect, it was found that the areas of student promotion and development were significantly different at the 0.05 level. While knowing each student individually student screening Preventing and solving student problems. And in the forwarding aspect, no differences were found. (3) Level of opinion regarding the role of educational institution administrators in operating the student care and assistance system, classified by status It was found that there was a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level. Conclusion: The study discovered that vocational college administrators in Chonburi Province are widely perceived to play an important role in student care and support. While gender had no overall impact on these opinions, there were differences in student promotion and development, and status had a significant influence on perceptions in areas such as student screening and development (p < 0.05).

Measuring Career Aspirations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Education

AbstractThere has been a sustained interest in student perceptions about STEM fields and their choice of careers over the past few decades. Research has shown that there is a decline in students pursuing STEM careers, and this has raised global concern. Despite these issues, no unistructural, broad, parsimonious and unambiguous quantitative instrument exists to probe student career aspirations. This paper highlights the background, extension and validation of an instrument, derived from a previous science-focussed high-quality instrument that allows student career aspirations to be quantitatively characterised. Participants were 1221 undergraduate students, 1003 of whom were judged to have provided good data, from 18 tertiary institutions in the USA and Canada. The resultant instrument is a reliable 20-question survey representing five clearly demarcated domains: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Education. Each scale possesses high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha > 0.95), and high construct validity as determined by comparisons with their stated choices of career.

Strategies for Enhancing Legal Application Skills among College Students

In modern society, improving legal application abilities is crucial to college students' personal development and career planning. With the progress of society and the continuous changes in the country's legal application environment, college students, as the main force leading social changes, need to improve their legal application capabilities to solve many legal problems that arise in social development and promote the country's legal environment and rule of law. The current actual situation is that college students have low legal application ability and there are some problems, mainly lack of legal knowledge, weak legal awareness, and lack of legal practical experience. Dental and dental hygiene students' perceptions on intraprofessional education.

Interprofessional education and intraprofessional learning experiences are fundamental to becoming an efficient member of the healthcare team for dental and dental hygiene students. The purpose of this study is to determine the attitudes and perceptions of The Ohio State University's dental and dental hygiene students on intraprofessional education and collaboration. Dental and dental hygiene students at The Ohio State College of Dentistry were surveyed in this cross-sectional study about their readiness for intraprofessional learning. The questionnaire was modeled after a study conducted by Brame etal. which focused on assessing students' readiness for intraprofessional education and determining their perceptions towards the use of intraprofessional education. Two hundred and seventy students completed the questionnaire for a 61.3% response rate. Dental hygiene students agreed more to how incorporating shared learning would help to think more positively about other oral health care professionals (p=0.025) and would help students to become better oral health care team members (p=0.002). Dental students agreed more than dental hygiene students that the function of a dental hygienist is to provide support for dentists (p ≤ 0.001) and that they must acquire more knowledge than other oral health care students (p ≤ 0.001). Most students (93%) agreed that intraprofessional learning would help in becoming a more effective oral health care team member. Dental hygiene students feel more strongly than dental students about including intraprofessional education in their learning. However, all students were receptive to the idea of incorporating intraprofessional practices.

The Effectiveness of a Digital Mental Fitness Program (Positive Intelligence) on Perceived Stress, Self-Compassion, and Ruminative Thinking of Occupational Therapy Undergraduate Students: Longitudinal Study.

Health care students often endure numerous stressors throughout their undergraduate education that can have lasting negative effects on their mental well-being. Positive Intelligence (PQ) is a digital mental fitness program designed to enhance self-mastery and help individuals reach their potential by strengthening various "mental muscles." This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a 6-week app-delivered PQ program in reducing perceived stress, increasing self-compassion, and decreasing rumination tendencies among health care undergraduates. We hypothesized that students would show reductions in perceived stress, increases in self-compassion, and decreases in rumination tendencies by the end of the PQ program, compared with their preprogram scores. We adopted an exploratory approach for the 5-month follow-up due to the limited research consensus on the sustained effects of app-based programs over varying periods. The PQ program includes weekly hour-long videos, weekly group meetings, and daily 15-minute app-guided practices. Participants were first-year students from the occupational therapy program at a university in Singapore. Participants completed surveys measuring self-compassion, perceived stress, and rumination levels before and after the PQ program, and again at a 5-month follow-up. Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA to assess differences across the pretest, immediate posttest, and follow-up posttest. Out of 87 students enrolled in the study, the final sample consisted of 64 students (n=47, 73%, female; mean age 23 years, SD 5.06 years) with complete data. At the end of the 6 weeks, students exhibited significant increases in self-compassion (before the intervention: mean 3.07, SD 0.35; after the intervention: mean 3.34, SD 0.35; P<.001) and reductions in rumination tendencies (before the intervention: mean 3.57, SD 0.40; after the intervention: mean 3.27, SD 0.34; P<.001). However, no significant change in perceived stress levels was observed (before the intervention: 2.99, SD 0.14; after the intervention: mean 2.97, SD 0.16; P=.50). These effects were not influenced by the daily app-based practice of PQ exercises, and there were no sustained effects on self-compassion (mean 3.17, SD 0.27; P=.09) or rumination tendencies (mean 3.42, SD 0.38; P=.06) at the 5-month follow-up. Additionally, there was a significant increase in perceived stress at follow-up (mean 3.17, SD 0.21; P<.001) compared with pre- and postintervention levels. The PQ program did not directly alter stress perceptions but may have reframed students' automatic negative thought processes, increased their awareness of self-sabotaging behaviors, and enhanced their self-compassion while reducing ruminative thinking. These findings highlight the importance of self-awareness for students' well-being. Students can benefit from practices such as mindfulness and peer discussions to enhance self-compassion and reduce rumination. Educators trained in the PQ program can foster a supportive environment that encourages self-compassion, challenges negative self-talk, and helps students manage stress.

Validity and reliability study in undergraduate healthcare students towards the solution of a neglected problem in working life: Attitude scale towards patients with chronic pain.

Chronic pain is the type of pain that healthcare professionals frequently encounter. Health care students' attitudes towards pain management are not sufficient and this negatively affects their chronic pain management. When students cannot manage the chronic pain they will experience professional burnout, depersonalization, and a decrease in compassion and empathy in patient care. Therefore, the first step in improving health care students' attitudes towards patients with chronic pain is to determine their attitudes. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of the Scale for Healthcare Professionals' Attitudes towards Patients with Chronic Pain (HCPAPCP Scale) in healthcare students. This quantitative study was conducted with 205 health care students in January-February 2022. Data were collected online with Personal Information Form and the HCPAPCP Scale. To determine the reliability of the scale, internal consistency and test-retest, and for construct validity, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that the two-factor scale consisting of 18 items, the factor structure, and the distribution of factors in items were the same as the findings of the original scale. The Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was 0.88 for the first factor and 0.74 for the second factor. Test-retest reliability was 0.60. In confirmatory factor analysis, the model had a good and acceptable fit. We found that the HCPAPCP Scale was valid and reliable in healthcare students.

Psychological Safety Competency Training During the Clinical Internship From the Perspective of Health Care Trainee Mentors in 11 Pan-European Countries: Mixed Methods Observational Study.

In the field of research, psychological safety has been widely recognized as a contributing factor to improving the quality of care and patient safety. However, its consideration in the curricula and traineeship pathways of residents and health care students is scarce. This study aims to determine the extent to which health care trainees acquire psychological safety competencies during their internships in clinical settings and identify what measures can be taken to promote their learning. A mixed methods observational study based on a consensus conference and an open-ended survey among a sample of health care trainee mentors from health care institutions in a pan-European context was conducted. First, we administered an ad hoc questionnaire to assess the perceived degree of acquisition or implementation and significance of competencies (knowledge, attitudes, and skills) and institutional interventions in psychological safety. Second, we asked mentors to propose measures to foster among trainees those competencies that, in the first phase of the study, obtained an average acquisition score of <3.4 (scale of 1-5). A content analysis of the information collected was carried out, and the spontaneity of each category and theme was determined. In total, 173 mentors from 11 pan-European countries completed the first questionnaire (response rate: 173/256, 67.6%), of which 63 (36.4%) participated in the second consultation. The competencies with the lowest acquisition level were related to warning a professional that their behavior posed a risk to the patient, managing their possible bad reaction, and offering support to a colleague who becomes a second victim. The mentors' proposals for improvement of this competency gap referred to training in communication skills and patient safety, safety culture, work climate, individual attitudes, a reference person for trainees, formal incorporation into the curricula of health care degrees and specialization pathways, specific systems and mechanisms to give trainees a voice, institutional risk management, regulations, guidelines and standards, supervision, and resources to support trainees. In terms of teaching methodology, the mentors recommended innovative strategies, many of them based on technological tools or solutions, including videos, seminars, lectures, workshops, simulation learning or role-playing with or without professional actors, case studies, videos with practical demonstrations or model situations, panel discussions, clinical sessions for joint analysis of patient safety incidents, and debriefings to set and discuss lessons learned. This study sought to promote psychological safety competencies as a formal part of the training of future health care professionals, facilitating the translation of international guidelines into practice and clinical settings in the pan-European context.

Nursing students' knowledge of working with D/deaf and hard of hearing patients: Evaluation of a deaf awareness elearning package

AimThe aim of this study was to evaluate a newly developed Deaf awareness e-learning package with nursing students at one university in Wales, UK. BackgroundD/deaf and hard of hearing communities face a multitude of barriers when accessing and receiving healthcare leading to under diagnosis of health conditions and poorer health outcomes in general. Lack of awareness, teaching, and exposure to the D/deaf and hard of hearing populations during health care professional training programmes has been shown to contribute to this health disparity. DesignA descriptive cross-sectional design was used with two cohorts of undergraduate nursing students at one university in Wales, UK who were invited to undertake a Deaf awareness eLearning package developed with D/deaf communities in Wales. MethodsNursing student engagement and course completion were monitored, and evaluation survey questionnaires were implemented. ResultsThe Deaf awareness eLearning package evaluation showed engagement with over 400 nursing students, who scored the package an overall mark (1 to 5 stars) of 4.72 out of 5. In total, 227 nursing students completed the eLearning package and received the certificate. Students reported finding the eLearning package very interactive, easy to navigate, thought the three-hour length was about right. However, we would like to know more about factors that influence student non-engagement and dropout. ConclusionsThese findings suggest that eLearning Deaf awareness programs can be successful in increasing knowledge and confidence around communicating with D/deaf and hard of hearing patients for nursing, with potential benefits for wider rollout across wider health and care student and staff populations. Evaluating ExpandED: Evaluating the effectiveness of a serious game expansion pack in teaching health professional students about interprofessional care.

The emergency department (ED) is a challenging fast-paced environment with high-acuity, undifferentiated patients who often require extensive interdisciplinary care. This paper introduces ExpandED, an expansion pack to the serious board game GridlockED, designed to enhance players' understanding of interprofessional collaboration in the ED and the diverse scope of practice of different ED professionals including physicians, residents, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. This investigation evaluates the effectiveness of ExpandED as a teaching tool for medical and allied health professions students about interprofessional collaboration in the ED. A program evaluation harnessing a playtest framework was employed. Participants completed pre- and postgame surveys including quantitative measures (e.g., Likert scales) and qualitative free-text feedback that focused on participant familiarity with ED functioning, valuation of interprofessional collaboration before and after playing, and feedback on game usability and effectiveness. Recruitment was open to students in all health care and allied health professional programs at the institution. Forty-five participants were recruited from medical doctor, nursing, physiotherapy, and speech language pathology programs. ExpandED enhances participants' understanding of ED workflow (p < 0.001) and provides an enjoyable playing experience. However, participants' valuation of interdisciplinary teamwork did not change significantly before and after game play (p = 0.17). Participants expressed satisfaction with the game's accuracy in simulating the ED environment and appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different disciplines. Challenges reported included some tension among players, potential biases, and limitations of fidelity to a real-life ED. While this study has limitations regarding participant sampling and duration of gameplay sessions, it highlights the potential of ExpandED for teaching interprofessional collaboration in the ED. These findings will guide further development to optimize the expansion pack's effectiveness and its implementation into health care curricula.

The Efficacy of High-Fidelity Telesimulation in Preparing Nursing Students for Emergency and Critical Patient Care: A Prospective Study.

High-fidelity telesimulation can address the gap in nursing education caused by the pandemic by providing a simulated environment for students to practice skills that closely mimic real-life scenarios. This study was designed to determine the effect of a high-fidelity telesimulation teaching program on emergency and critical patient care-related knowledge, self-confidence, and critical thinking skills in nursing students. This randomized, single-blind controlled study was conducted on a sample of 84 nursing students who were evaluated using pretest and posttest measurements. The participants were randomized into a control group ( n = 43) and an experimental group ( n = 41). The control group received an in-person traditional teaching program, and the experimental group was taught using a high-fidelity telesimulation program. During the high-fidelity telesimulation, synchronous online tutorial learning and telesimulation were conducted every 100 and 300 minutes. The experimental group program included a lecture, simulation teaching videos, and demonstrations related to endotracheal intubation, 12-lead electrocardiography, protective clothing, and hybrid telesimulation learning. In each subgroup, the students executed a single high-fidelity telesimulation scenario in which they were assigned individual roles. The students in the other subgroups served as observers and engaged in the synchronous online debriefing. Teaching efficacy was evaluated using an objective structured clinical examination and a questionnaire designed for emergency and critical patient care. In the experimental group, levels of knowledge and self-confidence as well as critical thinking skills related to emergency and critical patient care were significantly higher than in the control group ( p < .05). High-fidelity telesimulation teaching is a feasible and reliable alternative to conventional in-person simulation for nursing students, particularly in situations where traditional clinical experiences are not possible.

Professional Doctorate in Primary Care (DPAPS): a legacy for the Rio de Janeiro SUS.

Since 2009, the Municipal Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro (SMS-RJ) has encouraged the creation of a Master's degree in primary health care at the National Health School/Fiocruz (ENSP/Fiocruz). In the following decade, this proposal became one of the main lines of the institution's professional stricto sensu postgraduate program, which culminated in CAPES approving the first professional doctorate class in the history of Fiocruz-RJ offered in 2024. The class comprises primary health care (PHC) students from Rio's SUS and Fiocruz employees in science, technology and innovation. Regarding the profile of the PHC students, the highlights were women (61.5%), a degree in medicine (53.8%), a mean of 15 years since graduating, 10 years working in PHC, graduates of a medical or multiprofessional residency course (69.2%) and a Master's degree in primary care from ENSP/Fiocruz or UFRJ (84.6%). The SMS-RJ thus leaves a legacy for Brazilian Public Health as a leader in the promotion of Fiocruz-RJ stricto sensu professional training programs, innovating in the end-of-course work, reviving the presence of doctors in the classes and bringing the contributions of the Portuguese SNS, a source of inspiration for the PHC reform undertaken in Rio de Janeiro, to the Rio de Janeiro SUS debate.

Creating career support pathways: From freshers week through to academia

My case study focuses on the career development of students and academics in higher education, specifically early-career and teaching-focused staff. We are all navigating the dynamic and extremely competitive landscapes of higher education and job markets, and in this case study I detail my approach to creating 1) pathways supporting student careers, both curriculum-based and extracurricular; 2) collaborative pathways based on co-production and building relationships between staff and students; 3) specialised career support avenues for staff, with a focus on early-career and teaching-oriented staff. These initiatives have gained recognition from my institution and beyond, facilitated by the pedagogic group I established and run, THESIS (Teaching in Higher Education: Supporting and Inspiring Students:https://thesis.psychologyresearch.co.uk/).

&lt;p&gt;The article considers the problem of choosing a future profession in the context of psychological readiness for various types of activities, including military service. The authors discuss various theoretical approaches to readiness, emphasize the importance of developing readiness for military service as a key aspect of the social system. The empirical study was conducted at Cadet School No. 1784 named after Army General V.A. Matrosov. 46 students took part in the study. The comparison group consisted of students of the educational school (49 people). The following methods were used: Herzberg motivational structure test, diagnostics of interactive orientation of personality (N.P. Fetiskin), questionnaire "Military-professional motivation" (B.V. Ovchinnikov, A.F. Borovikov). The following results were obtained: awareness and motivational attention to the choice of a future profession among cadets and students of a comprehensive school are practically the same. There is a connection between the indicator "military-professional motivation" and the motivational structure and interactive orientation of cadets; The following connections were identified: with the attitude towards management, with cooperation in the team, with the motive of achieving personal success, with the content of the activity. The research was meticulously designed to investigate the impact of self-efficacy, job market considerations, financial rewards, and tax volunteer programs on students' interest in a career as a tax consultant. This study, based on quantitative primary data from questionnaire responses rated on a five-Likert scale, is a testament to the rigor of our research methodology. The research population comprises students from the Faculty of Economics and Universities in Surabaya who have participated in tax volunteering. The non-probability sampling technique, specifically the purposive sampling method, was employed to obtain 125 samples. The research data was rigorously analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Square. The findings of this research underscore the influence of self-efficacy and job market considerations on students' desire for a career as a tax consultant. On the other hand, the influence of financial rewards and tax volunteer programs on students' interest in a career as a tax consultant was found to be negligible. Potential for future research to broaden the scope of respondents and to include additional independent variables such as tax brevet training, offers hope for a more comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence student career interest.

Reinvigorating Integrative Learning Experiences: Translating Graduate Program Skills to Careers

For the spring semester of 2021, two University at Buffalo faculty collaborated and built a course to address Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH) competencies and support student career readiness. This new course builds on the existing Integrated Learning Experience (ILE) to enhance its transmissibility for future employers and help students articulate their ILE as evidence of the strengths gained during their MPH program. Throughout the course, students focus their ILE on one public health topic as a set of high quality, written materials that promote synthesis, including a literature review, executive summary, and gap analysis. These assignments must demonstrate synthesis of foundational and concentration-specific competencies students gained from their coursework, including at least one competency related to equity, structural racism, or cultural competence. To supplement the ILE process, students develop additional components allowing them to translate skills and knowledge from the MPH program into career-ready materials such as a revised resume, a cover letter, and mock interviews. The goal for these supplemental components is to allow students to demonstrate their abilities with prospective employers. All students in the initial spring 2021 cohort and subsequent cohorts are currently working in public health-related jobs.

Career Preparation Program Model at The Sub Directorate of Career Development and Assessment (CDA) IPB University

Changes in the job map provide career challenges for college graduates. On the other hand, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology makes higher education performance assessments through the IKU PTN to see the absorption of graduates. This research uses quantitative data from the 2018-2023 annual CDA report. Analysis of research data using the SWOT method. Data is presented descriptively to obtain an overview of the implementation of student career preparation programs. For 5 years, CDA IPB has held various career preparation programs, namely membership services, career service information system, on-campus recruitment &amp; publication of job vacancy information, career training &amp; industrial insight, career consultation, job fair, career enrichment, career buddy, stadium general for graduation, internship, career faculties roadshow, career studio, and career preparation in multinational companies. Based on the results of the analysis carried out using the SWOT method, it can be concluded that the CDA programs have been running effectively with several parameters increasing the number of program users, the distribution of work status, as well as testimonials from graduates who have participated in the CDA programs.

This study aims to determine the influence of perception, career motivation and economic motivation on career interest in taxation. Respondents of this study were accounting students who chose taxation concentration at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Pamulang University. The data used in this study are primary data collected through questionnaires, and the sampling technique in this study used the purposive sampling method with a total sample of 321 people. This study uses multiple regression analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that simultaneously and partially there is an influence between the variables Perception, Career Motivation and Economic Motivation on Student Career Interest in Taxation.

The effect of assessor visibility on student stress and anxiety in emergency care simulation assessments

BackgroundSimulation assessment can result in anxiety for students. These assessments involve being observed by assessors, so there is a significant socio-evaluative stress component which may cause greater anxiety if assessors are visible to students during assessments. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of assessor visibility on biological and physiological markers of stress and levels of anxiety experienced by pre-hospital emergency care students in a simulation assessment environment.MethodsA paired comparison, pre-post test research design was used with two conditions; an assessor visible condition with simulation assessors visible to students in the room and an assessor not visible condition with assessors not in the room but connected via video link. With a sample of 29 emergency care students anxiety was measured with the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and stress was measured with salivary cortisol and heart rate variability (HRV).ResultsDifferences in state anxiety scores, HRV variables and salivary cortisol suggested lower stress and anxiety in the assessor visible group. Only heart rate was significantly different between the groups (p = 0.016), with a higher heart rate in the assessor not visible group.ConclusionsGreater stress and anxiety may be experienced by students during emergency care simulation assessments when assessors are not visible to students.

BackgroundThe healthcare sector has a negative ecological impact, and intensive care is one of the most resource-consuming areas. Nurses have a duty to contribute to climate change reduction, design climate-resilient healthcare systems, and support individuals and communities in adapting to the effects of the planetary health crisis. It is essential to incorporate environmental sustainability into nursing education so that nurses can advocate for conscientious and ethically sustainable healthcare that benefits both patients and the planet. This study aimed to explore postgraduate intensive care nursing student experiences of environmental sustainability in clinical practice at intensive care units.MethodsData were collected using a qualitative questionnaire, and the data were analysed using inductive thematic analysis. The participants were 24 registered nurses studying postgraduate, specialist intensive care nursing courses at four universities in the south and west regions of Sweden.ResultsThe results describe critical care students’ environmental sustainability experiences in one overarching theme with five subthemes. Intensive care is a challenging context in terms of sustainability, where saving lives is the number one priority. There were good and bad sustainability habits among the staff, and awareness was key to improving. Clinical supplies come in unsustainable packages, and the participants wished for better alternatives and they wanted more knowledge and education on sustainable practices. The findings also emphasized the importance of a holistic perspective throughout each patient’s pathway.ConclusionsSustainability in intensive care units is somewhat unrecognised today, although intensive care nurses want that to change. The context where saving lives is prioritized makes implementing ecologically responsible practices a challenge. However, environmental sustainability in intensive care is feasible, with education needed for nurses to take on the responsibility of making improvements. Hospital management prioritizing sustainability is also important to support clinicians in implementing sustainable practices in intensive care units.
