The use of School Information System in Strengthening the Management of Government Secondary Schools in Meru District Council

This study investigated the use of the School Information System (SIS) in strengthening the management of government secondary schools in Meru District Council. The study adopted the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The Diffusion Innovation theory and Technological Acceptance model guided this study. A qualitative research approach alongside a case study research design was adopted. The targeted population of the study was 1203 including 46 heads of schools, 1083 teachers, 46 academic teachers, 26 ward secondary officers, 01 District Education Officer (DSEO) and 01 District Information Communication Technology Officer (DICTO) of which 37 were drawn. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used to get respondents. Interview and questionnaire methods were used to collect data. The study's trustworthiness was maintained through the supervisor’s corrections, expert advice, and following all necessary ethical procedures. The study revealed that the School Information System carries user-friendly features that strengthen the management of government secondary schools such as student information management, and teacher and staff management. However, the facilities are not sufficiently available. Furthermore, the study found that the School Information System greatly enhances data management and analysis, streamlining administrative tasks and resource management, promoting teachers’ accountability and improving communication in government secondary schools. The study recommended that there should be the provision of enough facilities, alternative sources of energy, seminars, and training to promote the implementation and use of School Information System in government secondary schools.

Design and implementation of college students’ physical education teaching information management system by data mining technology

This study intends to improve the efficiency of physical education teaching management, accelerate the normal teaching process, and meet the modern management requirements that traditional teaching management methods cannot meet. Based on data mining technology, this study designs a college student physical education teaching information management system, and makes a detailed design of each functional module. The main task of this study is to investigate how to effectively integrate data mining techniques with existing university student physical education teaching databases. Then, this study finds useful data information from massive data information to provide information support for university student physical education teaching. In order to effectively mine the relevant information of the data, the student evaluation module in the system is designed based on decision trees, and the teacher-student related data analysis module in the system is designed based on association rules. The research results indicate that 1039 records and 8205 student records are extracted from the teaching management database as mining objects. Rule 1: The support rate for “a professor's degree is a doctoral degree” is 20.4 %, indicating that there are 20.4 % of records in the teacher database that “the title is a professor and a doctoral degree”; the confidence level of Rule 1 is 78.2 %, indicating that 78.2 % of professors have a doctoral degree. Through the analysis of the rules that evaluate teaching as good, it can be found that the three attributes of professional title, education level, and teaching experience are the most important relevant factors affecting teaching effectiveness. Research has shown that the longer and richer the teaching experience, the stronger the teaching ability. Secondly, the mining results obtained through data mining techniques are analyzed. The maximum difference between the original algorithm's support mining results and the true values is 0.08, while the maximum difference between the improved algorithm's support mining results and the true values is 0.01. Compared to the original algorithm, the improved algorithm's mining results are accurate and effective. The application of data mining ideas in this system has laid a solid foundation for the development of physical education and teaching. Moreover, a three-layer system architecture model is adopted to better adapt to the development of school physical education, which is beneficial for later system maintenance and greatly reduces the work pressure of teachers. The system has been successfully launched and running in universities, and it is in good working condition.

Optimizing Student Information Management: A Holistic Examination of Implementation Strategies

This study explores the implementation of a Student Information and Accounting System (SIAS) at Benguet State University with the aim of enhancing academic efficiency. A thorough analysis evaluates the impact of SIAS on educational processes, records management, and transaction processing, focusing on assessing its effectiveness in improving administrative and academic operations, streamlining student information management, and enhancing overall academic performance. The findings underscore the importance of transitioning to such a system to boost efficiency, reduce errors, and improve student services. Recommendations include integrating SIAS with the university's website, implementing security measures, and conducting regular evaluations to align the system with evolving institutional needs. This abstract underscore the significance of adopting an online Student Information System for improved management and service delivery at Benguet State University.

A probabilistic reliable linguistic model for blockchain-based student information management system assessment

The growing necessity for robust security and trust in systems has prompted the widespread adoption of blockchain technology in student information management systems (SIMS). While existing literature has concentrated on the development of blockchain-based student information management systems (BC-SIMS), a notable gap remains in the evaluation of these systems. This study addresses this gap by employing a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach. Recognizing the inherent uncertainties in BC-SIMS evaluation due to inadequate information, the study introduces the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic Term Sets (PRLTSs) theory to address these problems. As a result, the Measurement of Alternatives and Ranking according to the Compromise Solution (MARCOS) method is extended into the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic environment, resulting in the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic-Measurement of Alternatives and Ranking according to the Compromise Solution (PRL-MARCOS) method. This method supports the evaluation and selection decisions on BC-SIMS in higher education institutions. The study further designs the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic-Coefficient of Variation (PRL-CV) method to determine the relative importance of selection criteria. Twenty selection criteria for BC-SIMS are identified through a literature review, and an illustrative case study is employed to assess the practicality and validity of the proposed PRL-CV-MARCOS approach in a higher educational institution. Experimental results highlight cost reduction (0.0778), interoperability (0.0717), security (0.0628), service improvement (0.0557) and responsiveness (0.0538) as the top five criteria for BC-SIMS selection, with BC-SIMS P5 identified as the optimal solution for managing student information. Finally, a comprehensive comparative and sensitivity analysis verifies the stability and effectiveness of the proposed decision support model.

Exploring student information management system adoption post pandemic: Case of Turkish higher education

Many aspects of our lives have changed during the pandemic including the accelerated adoption of technologies. Education was one of the segments that was disrupted by the pandemic, therefore Student Information Systems became critical at that time. This paper explores the adoption of Student Information Management Systems in multiple Turkish universities. The research model was adopted from a study conducted in the US, which is based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. More than three hundred students from seventeen universities responded, and the results indicated key factors of adoption. Furthermore, differences with the case in the US were identified.

Implementation of Academic Information System at Al-Inayah Pamulang Quran House, South Tangerang

In today's digital era, technology profoundly influences various societal domains, notably education. Rumah Quran Al-Inayah Pamulang, a non-formal educational center in Tangerang Selatan, fosters Quran memorization and practice among Muslim children. However, its manual system requires enhancement for better accuracy and timeliness in managing information. A web-based academic information system is proposed, utilizing the waterfall model methodology to address this. This system aims to streamline data collection, monitor memorization progress efficiently, and ensure organized data storage. The Academic Information System of Rumah Quran Al-Inayah Pamulang is a digital platform facilitating student information management, activity scheduling, academic progress tracking, and parent communication.

The Role of Digital Media on Students’ Management in Higher Vocational College

This study uses a combination of empirical analysis to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the role of digital media and student management in higher vocational colleges. The results show that the current application status of digital media in student management shows extensive and profound impact. With the rapid development of information technology, digital media has become an important tool for student management in higher vocational colleges, covering many aspects such as course management, attendance management, and student information inquiry, greatly improving management efficiency and convenience. By establishing a digital system, the school has achieved comprehensive coverage of student information management and online education. At the same time, digital media also plays an important role in students' social interaction and has become an indispensable part of students' daily lives. However, digital media applications also bring some problems. Information overload and distraction can make it difficult for students to focus, while security risks threaten student privacy. Solving these problems requires schools to take effective measures, such as improving information literacy and security awareness, and establishing a complete information security system. The impact of digital media on student development is complex and diverse. Its advantage lies in providing a broad learning space and diversified learning methods to promote students' communication and socialization. However, negative effects such as information overload and Internet addiction cannot be ignored. In order to better guide students to use digital media, schools and families need to strengthen digital media literacy education, pay attention to students' mental health, and strengthen network security. In student management, the advantages of digital media are mainly reflected in improving efficiency and interactivity, and promoting management innovation and development. However, the popularization of digital media needs to face issues such as technical and device support, security and privacy protection. By strengthening measures such as construction, training, supervision and management, schools can better leverage the advantages of digital media and improve management efficiency and service quality. Going forward, digital media will play an even more important role in student management. Assessment of the Impacts of Cyber Security on Student Information Management Systems

The pervasive use of technology in education has posed a security challenge that could jeopardise student data and educational institutions' reputations, necessitating a thorough investigation. This study explores the impact of cybersecurity on Ruaha Catholic University's Student Information Management System. The research mainly employed a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires administered to a diverse sample of 374 individuals, encompassing students and staff. In addition, a qualitative method was used to acquire data on the organisation's readiness to prevent cybersecurity threats from key informants, including system administrators and top management personnel. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software analysed the quantitative data using descriptive analysis. The study's results underscore the pressing need to develop effective cybersecurity mechanisms in the education sector, specifically focusing on enhancing the security of Ruaha Catholic University's Student Information Management System. The study recommends formulating and implementing robust cybersecurity strategies to safeguard student information, fortify system resilience, and bolster the institution's overall cybersecurity posture.

Digital Transformation: An Emphasis Analysis of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Modules in Higher Education

Industry, and educational institutions in particular, regard digital transformation as a critical information technology. This is due to the fact that educational institutions are required to effectively respond to a multitude of changes, including those associated with digital transformation. This study aims to empirically analyze to the challenges associated with the process of digital transformation, this study examined pertinent scholarly publications, books, and journals. The utilization of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in this research endeavors to assess ERP system modules that may be implemented in academic establishments to facilitate the digital transformation process while increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of information resource and technology management. In pursuit of global educational excellence and benchmarks. ERP modules implemented in educational institutions include Competency and Certificate Management, Career Service Management, Student Information Management, Financial and Accounting Management, Asset Management, and E-Learning Management. It is anticipated that the implementation of an ERP system in academic institutions will improve visibility, adaptability, and the capacity to strategize, plan, and operate more effectively. It is crucial to note, however, that many factors must be considered when implementing ERP system modules in academic institutions, including elevated costs, adequate resources, and stakeholder support.

Construction of Student Information Management System for Universities Based on Cloud Computing Platform

Abstract The first step in this paper is to establish an integrated education information management platform that utilizes cloud computing as the scheduling center, considering the characteristics of cloud computing. The hierarchical structure of the student information management system and each business function module is designed using the B/S three-layer architecture. The fitness function evaluates individual merit based on K-means teaching data to ensure the genetic algorithm’s population diversity. The analysis model of university teaching data is constructed using the penalty function of chromosomes. The final test results show that when the network data transmission time reaches the 60s, the average network data traffic consumed is 260Byte, which indicates that the constructed student information management system has wide applicability.

An enriched decision-making satisfaction model for student information management systems

Managers in every organization are responsible for making prompt and precise decisions to achieve organizational goals. Similar to other institutions, higher education institutions use student information management systems to collect and organize various data at the student, faculty, and institutional level. These data are used to obtain meaningful information that supports the Decision-Making Process. Furthermore, integration and sharing of this information promote creativity and learning within the institution, which has a positive influence on the institution's performance. This research aims to develop an enriched decision-making satisfaction model for student information management systems that supports the tactical and strategic Decision-Making Processes of a higher institution in Northern Cyprus. The results obtained by analyzing the data from 263 academic and administrative managers show that System Quality, Information Quality, and System Intelligence factors; Uncertainty, Risk, and Complexity have a positive influence on decision-making satisfaction. Findings also show that Internal Factors and External Factors have a significant direct impact on decision-making satisfaction. This research is expected to set a broad framework for the research needed to improve SIMS for future applications from the decision-making satisfaction perspective with an artificial intelligence add-on towards the System Intelligence with technological innovations.
