Since the enactment of the Higher Education Law in Argentina, the analysis of the way teaching has been focuced in Higher Education and its effectiveness has been intensified.In the way of learning, the educational act is fundamental. It is not an implicit assumptionor belief that is taken for granted, nor are the skills/capabilities of the student. And in the training of law professionals today we are not just talking about the use of technologies like merely manipulating of them. The rapid evolution places us facing the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and more recently the Generative Artificial Intelligence. Reevaluating our role as teachers in front of a student body that learns from, about, and with AI is a new point in the teaching of law. The professor is an essential mediator of knowledge and a promoter of the development of skills and competencies that enable learning and the construction of new knowledge.Therefore, learning with AI must be approached from an ethical perspective because technology is never ideologically neutral. The algorithms that form it expose and privilege certain worldviews, and particular ways of thinking, learning, and knowing that, without ethics, become dangerous. Additionally, actions are needed to preserve and safeguard human intellectual skills, the diversity of our knowledge system, and to place technology in its service.

Holixec Education: The Right Direction but Too Far to Travel?

The Commentary that follows is a collective effort. The opening assessment of Dr. Batat's “Introducing” paper is the work of Stan Shapiro, now long retired, but over a span of fifty years first the product and then an unquestioning career-long practitioner of the kind of atomistic education that Dr. Batat considers incomplete and inadequate. From that perspective, he found much of merit in the Batat paper, not only in the advocacy of executing skills but also the presentation of educational outcomes as various forms of learning capitals and the emphasis on adult development. On the other hand, the complete absence of any discussion of the role of research and the governing assumption, one with which Stan could not accept, that academia would quickly and willingly adopt the revolutionary approach Dr. Batat advocates were seen as weaknesses in the paper. Stan's overall conclusion: the right direction but “too much, too soon.” But was there any midway position that could gain widespread acceptance at this time? This is where Dr. Burnett makes her contribution. She is currently the Senior Vice-President of the Acsenda School of Management, a privately owned, teaching-focused, and provincially regulated undergraduate degree-granting institution. Located in Vancouver, Canada, Acsenda has a student body made up almost entirely of international students. Shortly after joining Acsenda, Dr. Burnett was instrumental in that School adopting both the Learning Methodology and the Workforce Readiness model she describes in the closing paragraphs of this Commentary. This material is being presented as an example of the significant pedagogical change that could be made even within the framework of research-focused universities.

Psychological Analysis and Career Decision-Making of College Students Based on Cognitive Algorithms on Distributed Platforms

This research uses cognitive analytics on a distributed computer system to investigate how students’ decision-making behaviors relate to their personality traits. The goal of the research is to improve our knowledge of the variables affecting students’ professional choices and to offer a solid, expandable framework for individualized career counseling. The investigation examines a range of psychological characteristics, such as personality characteristics, cognitive capacities, passions, and socioeconomic status, by utilizing cognitive algorithms. Massive databases may be processed more easily thanks to the distributed system, which also ensures effective computing and analyses in real time. The approach entails gathering information from a heterogeneous student body, then analyzing it and extracting features to find meaningful trends. Neural networks and combination techniques are examples of sophisticated algorithms for machine learning that are used to create models of prediction that help with career suggestions. The results show how well cognitive computers capture the intricate interactions between variables that influence career choices. The flexibility of the distributed platform guarantees the system’s suitability for big colleges and universities, offering students individualized career counseling on a broad scale. This study offers a fresh method for comprehending and assisting students in their professional choices, which makes a significant contribution to the fields of data mining for education and career planning.

Predicting College Closures and Financial Distress

In this paper, we assemble the most comprehensive dataset to date on the characteristics of colleges and universities, including dates of operation, institutional setting, student body, staff, and finance data from 2002 to 2023. We provide an extensive description of what is known and unknown about closed colleges compared with institutions that did not close. Using this data, we first develop a series of predictive models of financial distress, utilizing factors like operational revenue/expense patterns, sources of revenue, metrics of liquidity and leverage, enrollment/staff patterns, and prior signs of significant financial strain. We benchmark these models against existing federal government screening mechanisms such as financial responsibility scores and heightened cash monitoring. We document a high degree of missing data among colleges that eventually close and show that this is a key impediment to identifying at risk institutions. We then show that modern machine learning techniques, combined with richer data, are far more effective at predicting college closures than linear probability models, and considerably more effective than existing accountability metrics. Our preferred model, which combines an off-the-shelf machine learning algorithm with the richest set of explanatory variables, can significantly improve predictive accuracy even for institutions with complete data, but is particularly helpful for predicting instances of financial distress for institutions with spotty data. Finally, we conduct simulations using our estimates to contemplate likely increases in future closures, showing that enrollment challenges resulting from an impending demographic cliff are likely to significantly increase annual college closures for reasonable scenarios.

Practical Social Skills Assessment for Inclusive Classroom Settings

Social skills development is essential for optimal social, educational and professional growth and well-being. The development of these skills starts from childhood through interaction with others. Educational settings are crucial for promoting social skills development because they are the first structured settings children enter, and they provide social interaction opportunities. Educators should be prepared to facilitate social skills development in a diverse student body in today's inclusive settings. Social skills interventions are essential for those children that experience more challenges in their social interactions. Therefore, educators should be familiar with social skills assessment tools that help recognize children's strengths and areas that need intervention to support their social skills development. This article provides information on a practical social skills assessment that can facilitate developing Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Here, There, and Elsewhere: Ethnicity, Identity, and Global Orientation at an Indian International School in Singapore

International schools are somewhat ‘place-less’ in that their denationalised educational systems and nationally diverse student bodies are typically removed from the physical context in which each school is located. However, this placeless internationalism is complicated by international schools that also affiliate themselves with a national system or enrol a significant number of students who aspire to remain in the ‘host’ country. This paper develops the example of the Global Indian International School in Singapore to illustrate how the feeling of place is impacted by its dual orientations as both ‘Global’ and ‘Indian’. The school attempts to (re)create an Indian schooling environment in Singapore, cultivate a sense of Indian identity, and prepare students for internationally mobile futures. Drawing on qualitative interviews conducted with students and teachers at the Global Indian International School in Singapore, we explore placemaking practices in educational spaces and consider how they are impacted by the potentially conflicting goals of grounding students in their ethnic or cultural identities whilst simultaneously equipping them for internationally-oriented futures.

Examining the Impact of Sports and Physical Activities on Basic Motor Skills in Primary School Children

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of sports and physical activities on the fundamental motor skills of primary school children. The research was conducted with 54 volunteer students, including 27 in the experimental group and 27 in the control group, at Beyrebucak Primary School in Gazipaşa, Antalya. Necessary permissions were obtained from the Antalya Governorship and the parents of the students before the study.Within the scope of the research, the experimental group participated in activities using the Physical Activity Cards (PAC) referred to as yellow cards, which were implemented in physical education and game classes for 8 weeks, 3 days a week. In addition to measuring the students' height and body weight, their fundamental motor skills were evaluated using the Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-2). On the other hand, no intervention related to physical activity cards was provided to the control group.The research findings showed a significant difference in favor of the experimental group in terms of the total score of the TGMD-2 (p<0,001). Moreover, there was a significant improvement in the experimental group in the subcategories of the TGMD-2, namely locomotor and object control skills (p<0,001), whereas no significant changes were observed in the control group (p>0,05).In conclusion, the study suggests that sports and physical activities can have a positive impact on the fundamental motor skills of primary school children.

A Survey Study of the Factors of School Life on Mental Health

This survey study explores the different factors contributing to the stress levels of students in a school district in California. This survey, distributed with the help of the district, focuses on the ways in which the students’ demographic information, academics, personal activities, and school life influence the mental health of the student body. Through the comprehensive questions asked in the various sections of the survey, the students were able to share their thoughts about the ways in which they believed different aspects of their experiences contributed to their well-being. Interestingly, the findings suggest that grade level, gender identity, and transportation methods primarily contribute to the stress levels of students. The study did find a correlation between the stress levels of the student and their satisfaction with their respective schools and teachers. However, more research should be done to determine the directionality of the relationship. Additionally, the study advocates for more communication among distinct school administrations and students, more up-to-date infrastructure, and opportunities for creative expression in order to nurture a safer and healthier environment for students to engage in to reach their full potential.

Intercultural Education in Morocco: Theorization and Practice through Teachers’ Perspectives

Intercultural education is a critical educational approach that centers relations within and across cultures. It seeks to account for cultural diversities within schools/classrooms and develop students' cultural sensitivity and understanding of other cultures. Intercultural education has been increasingly important in post-modern Morocco considering, among other factors, the rising number of Sub-Saharan immigrants for instance. The kingdom's efforts to distance/challenge the lingering colonial legacies and broaden its global horizon have underscored the necessity of adopting intercultural education as a strategic approach to achieve this goal. To operationalize this visualization, teachers are often tasked with integrating the norms and principles of intercultural education into their teaching practices, fostering a more inclusive and globally aware student body. However, it is not clear the extent to which they are supported through pre-service education to fulfill such tasks. To achieve this integration, there is a pressing need to complexify/problematize teachers' perspectives to uncover the theoretical and practical frameworks that inform their practices. This paper seeks to examine the range of factors, elements, and conditions that shape Moroccan high school teachers' beliefs and how they ultimately mold their pedagogical practices in the classroom. This research adopts a qualitative approach through the use of in-depth interviews with 25 Public EFL high school teachers based in various schools across Morocco. Thematic analysis is employed to navigate teachers’ views with the aim of coding, developing, and charting the most important and recurrent themes. Findings revealed that (a) Moroccan high school teachers perceive both language and culture as mutually reinforcing elements in the classroom, (b) they hold distinct conceptualizations regarding the implementation of intercultural education and (c) intercultural education is a highly context-sensitive pedagogy that accounts for the social, linguistic and cultural particularities of teachers’ contexts.

Demographic insights in service quality and citizen’s charter implementation

This study evaluates the service quality and implementation of the Citizen’s Charter at two Isabela State University campuses: Ilagan and San Mariano, using the SERVQUAL model as the primary framework. The model assessed service quality across five dimensions tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy by identifying gaps between stakeholder expectations and perceptions. A structured survey was administered to faculty, non-teaching staff, and members of the Student Body Organization (SBO), gathering data on satisfaction levels and demographic characteristics. Statistical analyses, including descriptive and inferential methods, revealed that San Mariano consistently outperformed Ilagan in all SERVQUAL dimensions. Higher scores in tangibles, reliability, and responsiveness at San Mariano suggest stronger infrastructure, timely service delivery, and attentiveness. Assurance and empathy scores indicate that respondents at San Mariano perceived staff as more knowledgeable and compassionate. Demographic analyses highlighted a strong correlation between type of respondent and educational attainment, reflecting the influence of qualifications on roles. The findings emphasize the importance of infrastructure, staff responsiveness, and personalized attention in shaping service quality perceptions, particularly for campuses like Ilagan, where targeted improvements in tangibles and empathy are needed to enhance stakeholder satisfaction.

Identification and Prioritization of Factors Influencing Students' Satisfaction with University Services Using the Kano Model

In the contemporary landscape, organizations in both the private and public sectors face an increasing imperative to evaluate customer perspectives regarding their service provision and assess the extent to which these services meet expectations. These entities recognize the significant challenges that arise from insufficient information about customer expectations and feedback on delivered services. Based on findings from various studies that have identified multiple disparate factors affecting student satisfaction, the recognition of these factors can play a crucial role in fostering student growth and success, which in turn contributes to the advancement of higher education institutions. The primary objective of this study was to identify the factors influencing student satisfaction with academic services provided at Jami University and to prioritize these factors based on their relative importance. The results of this research are anticipated to benefit university administrators (by identifying the institution's strengths and weaknesses) and, by extension, the student body. This research employs the Kano model and utilizes SPSS software to identify and prioritize factors affecting student satisfaction with services offered by Jami University during the academic year 1402 (2023/24). This study aims to ascertain whether the university's services align with student expectations and measure the magnitude and direction of the gap between student expectations and university services. The identified factors were categorized into five dimensions (basic, performance, motivational, neutral, and reverse). The results indicate that basic, performance, and motivational requirements have the greatest impact on student satisfaction. Accordingly, this study seeks to address each of these dimensions individually through library-based and field research approaches, providing a comprehensive analysis.

Introduction. One of the main problems that is evident in higher education is the lack of innovation within training processes in online contexts, which is why this study carries out a bibliographic review of teacher evaluation models. Objective. The paper aims to know the teacher evaluation models that are used in the online modality in higher education teaching. Analysis. A search was carried out in the WoS, Scopus, Google Scholar and Dialnet databases, considering production included in the period 2010-2021. The research has a qualitative approach since it describes general and specific aspects of the teacher evaluation models worldwide, with an emphasis on Latin America. To reduce the risk of bias, the recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement were followed. In addition, the recommendations proposed by Alexander (2020) in the Review of Educational Research were used, where the author designs a methodological guide to carry out systematic reviews in the educational field. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied so that the final sample consisted of 22 studies. Results. It was demonstrated that there is little scientific production of teacher evaluation models in online teaching worldwide, which creates a challenge to continue conducting future research on this topic. Conclusions. The evaluation of teaching performance seeks to understand the work of teachers from multiple perspectives, including that of the student body and management staff, which requires a rigorous design, focused on improving training processes by identifying competencies and areas of opportunity.

Mental Health and Resilience of Migrant University Students in the United Arab Emirates

Background: This study focuses on the mental health and resilience of migrant students at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU) in the UAE, who often face unique challenges such as cultural adjustment, language barriers, and separation from family and friends. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the resilience levels of RAKMHSU's migrant students, identify their challenges, and provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance their mental health and resilience. Methods: A total of 206 university students who migrated participated in the study. The study analyzed the resilience-mental health relationship using the Positive Mental Health Scale and the Brief Resilience Scale. Results: The study found that most students, 92.23%, had normal levels of resilience. A smaller proportion, 1.46%, exhibited high resilience. The mental health assessment revealed that 84.95% of students had high positive mental health scores. Furthermore, the study found a significant positive correlation (r = 0.188, p = 0.007) between mental health and resilience scores. Conclusion: Migrant students face academic and migratory challenges. However, the student body at RAKMHSU exhibits high levels of mental health resilience. Tailored support programs can strengthen this resilience for better mental health and academic outcomes in the multicultural educational setting.

A methodology for game studies in five steps: adapting game analysis for the Brazilian context

In this paper, we present a methodological approach for the study of games, which takes Aarseth's game analysis (2003) as a starting point. Being in development for over four years, the proposed approach helped shape 32 student research projects, carried out (or still ongoing) in the context of a research laboratory in the Brazilian Northeast. Initially, we will discuss the contexts and motivations for proposing a didactic methodological approach, one of simple adoption and understanding, for application with a student body with little or no previous contact with scientific research practices. Then, we will present and detail the five steps that constitute the core of this game analysis proposition.

Universal Design for Learning and Diversity Attention: A Look from the Perceptions and Skills of Teachers

The Universal Design model for learning provides a pathway to curriculum from a responsive approach to diversity. It is a real and applicable option to promote and enable the learning of all student bodies, but its application is conditioned to the competence level of the teacher. The purpose of this research is to know the teacher competence skills on the application of the three principles of Universal Design for learning. This work is a mixed descriptive cross sectional investigation, where 123 teachers from Manabí-Ecuador participated, same ones that belong to private, fiscal and fiscomisional educational institutions. The instrument used to measure teachers’ perception of Universal Design for Learning -Perception of Universal Design for Learning. It was applied by survey means and the information collected was complemented with focus group. The results allowed us to confirm that teachers have an adequate perception and skills to apply the principles of UDL, however, there are also training needs to strengthen the learning processes and participation of all students, with emphasis on competence skills to attend to the disability-derived diversity.

The Influence and Challenges of Global Education on Transnational Education

The rise of multinational educational institutions in todays global landscape presents both substantial opportunities and significant challenges. These institutions, by expanding across borders, can capitalize on the growing demand for international education, which in turn strengthens their global reputation, increases student diversity, and opens up new markets for educational services. The research primarily focuses on the dual impact of globalization on these institutions, analyzing how they adapt to thrive in various international contexts. However, this expansion is accompanied by a series of challenges, including navigating complex regulatory environments, addressing and respecting cultural differences, and meeting a wide range of educational standards across regions. These institutions must continuously refine and adapt their curricula, technologies, and teaching methodologies to meet the needs of a diverse, international student body. The findings indicate that multinational institutions that strategically balance these opportunities with the challenges posed by globalization are better positioned to succeed in a competitive global education market. In conclusion, while the global educational landscape offers substantial potential for growth, it also requires resilience and strategic planning. Institutions that effectively balance these dynamics are more likely to establish a sustainable foothold in the complex and evolving world of global education.

The Role of Mobile Phones in Facilitating Business Education During the Transition to New Normal Learning Models

This study explores the impact of mobile phone use on self-regulated learning among students at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology San Isidro Campus, specifically within the College of Management and Business Technology. Using a descriptive correlational research design, the study aims to assess how integral mobile phones are to students’ learning processes, focusing on activities such as goal setting, environment structuring, task strategies, time management, help-seeking, and self-evaluation. Data were collected through a survey distributed to a significant portion of the student body, with subsequent statistical analysis to elucidate the relationship between mobile phone use and the efficacy of self-regulated learning strategies. Results reveal that mobile phones play a crucial role in enhancing students’ ability to manage their learning autonomously. They facilitate access to resources, enable communication with peers and instructors, and support various aspects of self-regulated learning. However, the study also identifies challenges such as distraction, dependency, and varying access to digital resources, suggesting a need for structured guidance in mobile usage. The assumptions emphasize the potential of mobile phones as beneficial educational tools when integrated with supportive measures to mitigate associated challenges. This study contributes to the understanding of mobile learning dynamics and underscores the need for educational strategies that leverage mobile technology effectively.

Black Like Me: Black College Student Perceptions of Racially Similar College Presidents

There is a strong interest in higher education to enroll a diverse student body, including groups from historically underrepresented populations. This is particularly true within the Black American community, where Black women have increased their presence in higher education yet Black men continue to account for only a small fraction of all college enrollment. To help increase the enrollment of Black men, some institutions have explored and put into place mentoring programs and have looked to symbolically demonstrate that higher education is a welcoming place by spotlighting college presidents who share similar demographic characteristics. The current study was designed to describe the perceptions of Black male college students concerning their institution where a Black male college president was in place. These findings included a range of reactions from the creation of hope and making a difference to perceptions of indifference and even anger. The study illustrates the importance of critically examining role modeling and mentoring as a strategy to help recruit and retain students from diverse backgrounds.

Enhancing Campus Communication: Advanced ML Techniques for College Chatbots

This research explores the development and deployment of a college chatbot using advanced machine learning techniques to enhance communication and support within the campus community. The chatbot is designed to efficiently handle a variety of student inquiries by leveraging natural language processing and deep learning models. Through a detailed methodology, evaluation of metrics, and real-world testing, this study demonstrates how the chatbot enhances student engagement and administrative efficiency. Challenges encountered during development included managing ambiguous queries and ensuring data accuracy and relevance. Future work aims to expand the chatbot's capabilities with personalized interactions, voice-based queries, and multilingual support to better serve a diverse student body and further improve functionality. This research paper provides an analysis of designing, applying, and utilizing a college chatbot’s powered by advanced ML techniques. The functions demonstrate its prospective to rationalize campus communication, offering a scalable, efficient, and user-friendly solution to meet the changing needs of modern educational institutions.

Personal tutoring black nursing students: A qualitative study of the experiences of students and tutors.

Personal tutoring at university is designed to provide effective pastoral care to students. Given the increasing diversity of the student body, it is important that personal tutors can support the needs of all students. There is limited research to date which has focused on the personal tutoring needs of Black nursing students. To understand Black nursing students' perceptions and experiences of receiving personal tutor support at university and identify factors which hinder and facilitate the provision of effective personal tutoring to Black nursing students. An exploratory qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. A nursing and midwifery faculty within a large urban university in the United Kingdom. Black nursing students and personal tutors with experience of supporting Black nursing students. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews and were analysed using thematic analysis. Although some student participants reported positive experiences, others undergoing family difficulties or having academic issues were disappointed with the support provided by their tutor. Four main themes were developed from the data: 1) Insufficient support from personal tutor: "I could have had more help"; 2) Cultural Competency: "Just get to know us"; 3) Sense of belonging: "No one looks like me" and 4) Resilience: "And still I rise." Black nursing students face many challenges at university as a minoritised group and value a supportive and emotional connection with their tutors. Personal tutors want institutions to provide them with more time and specialised training to provide appropriate support to students from different cultural backgrounds.
