The Contribution of Musical Terminology in Vocal Works to Performers’ Perception of Emotions

Musical terminology is the most indispensable part of the performer’s interpretation of the work, which promotes the development of the story plot and promotes the emotional fluctuations of the performer. This paper will take the opera excerpt “Les tringles des sistres” as the entry point, and explore the promoting changes of the musical terms appearing in the music to the performers’ emotional perception. Combined with the collected data and my own singing experience, this paper will analyze the music terms, emotional expression, music aesthetics and music emotional perception in multiple aspects. Based on their genres, music noumenon and other aspects, this paper expounds the promoting effect of music terms on performers’ emotional perception, and analyzes the promoting effect of music terms in vocal music works on performers’ emotional perception from the aspects of music aesthetics, stimulating effect of attention, music perception and music emotion perception.

This community service is carried out to develop students ' writing talents, improve short story writing skills, and foster an interest in reading and writing. It aims to explain the importance of intensive training in writing short stories to awaken the literary talent of NWDI Pancor Kopong Junior High School students, which amounts to 15 people. The reason for choosing this topic is based on the awareness of the importance of developing creative writing skills in education and the recognition of the potential of literature as a means of self-expression and understanding that is important for the development of students. The approach used in the service is a training approach that includes the stages of planning, action, observation and reflection, and results. The planning stage includes the identification of students ' talents through questionnaires and interviews, as well as the preparation of training materials based on relevant literature. The action stage involves several weeks of intensive training focusing on developing the idea, drafting the plot, characterization and editing the script. Continuous observation is used to monitor the development of students ' skills, while the reflection stage evaluates the training results and designs improvements for the next stage. The evaluation results showed that this training was successful in improving students ' ability to develop short story ideas (80%), develop story plots (75%), describe character characters (85%), and edit scripts (70%). Further action plans include the refinement of training modules based on feedback and an increased focus on more in-depth writing techniques to ensure optimal achievement in the development of students ' literary talents.

Translation Techniques Used for Translating Cultural Aspects in the Television Series "Cigarette Girl"

“Cigarette Girl” is an Indonesian television series that showcases many Javanese cultures. This series has been aired globally on a popular streaming platform, Netflix. As depicting various cultural aspects, this series has a clear and concise subtitle translation in English to make the story plot understandable for foreign audiences. Therefore, translation techniques were potentially used to create a good subtitle for the series. In this case, this research aimed to identify the cultural aspects portrayed in the series and the techniques used to translate them. It involved a qualitative approach to produce a comprehensive analysis discussion. Based on the analysis conducted, the presence of various Javanese cultural terms contained in the series was revealed, including mas, rama, ibu, bapak, jeng, mbak/mbak ayu/mbakyu, yu, ndhuk, nyi, cah ayu, kretek, srintil, tingwe, saus, pelinting, sendika, dong, nginthil, monggo, toh, mawon, macak, manak, gusti paringana aku, and dalang. Seven translation techniques were also found to be used to translate those cultural terms. They were adaptation, calque, generalisation, reduction, borrowing, description, and addition.

Afiks Derivasional Pembentuk Nomina Deverbal Bahasa Arab dalam Buku Qira’atu ar-Rasyidah Jilid 1

This research is purposed to find out how the process of derivational affixes forming Arabic deverbal nouns from the Qira'atu Ar-Rasyidah Volume 1 book and what grammatical meanings arise from it. The book is a textbook at the Gontor Islamic Boarding School and its affiliates which is unique either by the story plot or the grammar. Data collection focuses on 20 texts that are familiar to beginner-level students. The data were then analyzed using the distributional method supported by the ultimate constituent analysis technique. This research results presented with informal techniques. There are 31 data of derivational affixes forming deverbal nouns in the selected texts of this book. Derivational affixes that appear based on the letter of the formers include infixes marked with the letter ا /alif/, prefixes marked with the letter م /mim/, and confixes marked with م-ة /mim-ta marbut}ah/. These affixes give rise to new grammatical meanings of the original verb, namely subjective nouns (isim fa'il), masdar nouns (isim mas}dar), objective nouns (isim maf'ul), and locative nouns (isim makan).

The paper is dedicated to the analysis of the short story “A Psychopathic Ghoul” by Yu. V. Mamleev through the lens of necromythopoetic reception. The research aims to reveal the specifics of the image of the metaphysical vampire in the work. The paper analyzes the plot and compositional features of the short story, focusing on its imagery system of metaphysical genesis, plot-compositional structure, and mortal motifs. The author possesses an understanding of life and death as an integral part of the cycle of being. Leaving this world does not mean the end, but only a transition to an unknown, mysterious world of a new existence. The research is original in that it is the first to consider the unique mythopoetic worldview of the short story “A Psychopathic Ghoul”, where the features of a qualitatively different state of being, i.e., life after death, are explored. As a result of a detailed analysis, it was found that the text is built around the protagonist’s transcendent entry into the forbidden spheres to explore the spiritual cosmos of human existence, the ghoul is the bearer of unknown forces that lurk in the depths of every person. The conflict between the insatiable desire to find answers to spiritual, metaphysical questions and the impossibility of achieving this is key to the philosopher’s short story.

A narrative of recovery in forensic hospitals

AimConcerns about the applicability of recovery orientation to forensic care have surfaced due to the traditionally restrictive practices associated with forensic institutions. We interviewed 19 experts-by-experience and 18 professionals working with them across five Finnish forensic hospitals and one out-patient clinic to describe how they define recovery in forensic. MethodsWe utilized semi-structured, one-on-one interviews and then analyzed the collected data using structural narrative analysis. Our points of interest were the plots of the recovery stories and the ways in which various factors affected recovery. We also investigated whether staff and experts-by-experience had different perceptions of recovery in forensic psychiatry, and whether recovery-oriented practices were present in these accounts. ResultsA wider mutual narrative with a chronological plot was identified, and recovery-oriented practices and goals were found with a special emphasis on offending. Insight into mental illness, motivation for self-care, trust in therapeutic relationships, and gaining possibilities to proceed in care were found to promote recovery, whereas insufficient understanding of the illness, a closed environment, lack of trust, and substance abuse hindered the recovery process. Both the professionals and experts felt that the most prominent goal of recovery is integration into society. Conclusions and implications for practiceThe views of the interviewed experts-by-experience and professionals regarding recovery were rather univocal. Forensic psychiatric services in Finland were found to demonstrate recovery-oriented features, which can be promoted further by involving experts-by-experience in different assignments. The results also highlight that the families of patients should become more active partners in care. Impact and implications statementRecovery in forensic psychiatric hospitals can be perceived as a process towards a new role in society. To reach this goal the forensic patients need support from staff, peers, and family. We found numerous factors which enable and hinder the recovery process, and which should be considered during forensic care.

Feminist and Non-Feminist Elements in The Devil Wears Prada and Their Reflections in Contemporary Society

Although women are less represented and objectified in the film industry, in recent years, more women entered the film industry and are bringing in narratives from the female perspective. Under this social context, The Devil Wears Prada, a film based on the novel of the same name, premiered. This paper analyzes the feminist and non-feminist themes in the film. After analysis of the script, cinematography, and story plot, this research discovers that the film reflects on feminist themes the fashion industry as a non-patriarchal industry, less gendered use of language, and fashion as empowerment - and efficiently reveals societal expectations of women to maintain a balance between life and career. However, the film also imposes stereotypes and objectification towards women, as demonstrated in the fashion industrys strict rules for body image and gazes from male characters to Andrea. The issues identified in this film, such as strict body image for women, still exist in contemporary society, and more research can be done to try to address this problem.

Logical Intuitive Aspect of the Story in the Quran: Sayyid Quthb’s Perspective

The content explains the intuitive and logical aspects of the stories in the Koran. Intuition is a source of knowledge based on belief and experience. This dimension is found in the story of the Qur'an in various forms, initially in nature and unseen. It cannot be measured, but ultimately, it becomes logical because it is based on the laws that apply in society and can be validated through modern scientific approaches. It is what is called logical Intuition. This intuitive, logical aspect is found in Qur'an stories, which are attached to the principal or supporting characters and the story's plot. It is not revealed in the storyline, characterization, and message. Different from what was crystallized by Sayyid Quthb. He is an interpreter and writer who is clever at using persuasive narratives to arouse mental awareness and is straightforward so that it can be accepted by reason because it is by the realities of life and the laws that apply and develop in society. Perspective This is used as an approach to show the intuitive and logical aspects of the stories in the Qur'an.

The Application of The Rule of Three to Improve The Skill of Writing Children's Story Plots by PGSD Students of Al-Washliyah Archipelago Muslim University Medan

This research aims to improve children's story plot writing skills using the rule of three in FKIP PGSD students at Al Washliyah This research aims to improve children's story plot writing skills using the rule of three in FKIP PGSD students at Al Washliyah Muslim Nusantara University, Medan. Remembering that children's stories are an important part of the process of learning Indonesian language and literature in elementary school. The research method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive method with a one group pre-test post-test design type of research. The population and sample in this research were students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) FKIP Al Washliyah Muslim Nusantara University. The population was 50 people and samples were taken using random sampling technique as many as 30 students. From the research results, it is known that the average score of class 5 A PGSD UMN Al Washliyah students in the initial pre-cycle condition was only 55.84%. After taking action in cycle I, student learning outcomes increased to 61.6%. To get better results, action was taken in cycle II. In this cycle student learning outcomes increased to 80.25%. From this it can be said that applying the rule of three in writing children's story plots can improve children's story plot writing skills for semester 5 A students of FKIP PGSD UMN Al Washliyah, Medan. The output targets in this research are national/international journals or proceedings.

« Yeah, I am making new stuff! »: responsivity to and negotiations of agency during digital storytelling in preschool

ABSTRACT This study analyses interactions between pairs of children (aged 4–5) together with their teacher during digital storytelling activities in preschool to explore how children express and negotiate their agency and how teachers respond to it. Theoretically, agency is understood as relational and situated meaning that it stems from, and it is shaped by participation in interactions in specific sociocultural settings. Data include 140 h of video recordings in which participants (10 children and 2 teachers) recreate a familiar story using the application Book Creator. The findings show that, even in these activities that were designed by the researcher and the teachers and had a preliminary framework, children expressed their agency by altering the story plot, negotiating the meaning of their drawings with peers, and exploring the design characteristics of the digital tablets. The teachers and digital tables (including the application) mediated the dynamic process of children’s agency. The study concludes by emphasizing a responsive teaching approach that opens up for and encourages children’s agency.

Harlequinade Grotesque in the Works of Isak Dinesen (Based on the Novellas «The Poet» and «Carnival»)

The article is devoted to the study of the harlequinade grotesque in the novellas by the Danish writer Isak Dinesen (Karen Blixen) «The Poet» and «Carnival». The study proves relevant due to the following factors: 1) the current revival in foreign literary criticism of interest in the aesthetics of commedia dell’arte, as well as the role it played in the art of the 20th century; 2) growing interest in Dinesen’s work in Russian literary criticism. This article is the first to highlight both the presence of the harlequinade grotesque in Dinesen’s work and its originality. The authors of the article show how Dinesen’s passion for Italian popular comedy and harlequinade, typical of Scandinavian literature of her era, grew into a special worldview and writing style that synthesized the tragic and the comic. The article aims at revealing the features of the harlequinade grotesque in Dinesen’s work. The leading method in the study is the method of intertextual analysis: the characters and plots of the short stories are analyzed for their similarity with classical images (Harlequin, Pantaloon, Columbine, etc.) and collisions of the harlequinade (the flight of lovers from oppressive old men). The article reveals the features of the representation of the harlequinade plot and the functions of the harlequinade grotesque that evolve from them. The results presented in the article allow us to say that the harlequinade grotesque in Dinesen’s work was realized at the character and plot level, being the mouthpiece of the writer’s worldview, transmitting her aesthetic principles and moral principles. Also, the presence of the harlequinade grotesque in Dinesen’s prose suggests the presence of a similar technique in the work of other Scandinavian writers and confirms the status of this type of grotesque as a pan-European one.

«Рассказы из русской истории» А.Н. Майкова: от идеи к реализации

The article analyses the formation and development of the idea of the unfinished prose cycle Tales from Russian History by Apollon Maykov. The most important source of information about this part of the poet’s creative biography is considered his correspondence with Fyodor Dostoevsky, where the prerequisites for the origin of the cycle idea and the stages of its formation are revealed. One of the most expressive novelist’s letters to his friend is devoted to the discussion of the general idea of the cycle and its plots. It contains a conceptual reflection on the poem “as a precious stone, a diamond, in the poet’s soul” and highlights the most significant events in Russian history, according to the writer’s understanding. The plots of individual stories expressively described there by Dostoevsky originated the assumption that the writer was the author of the cycle concept and inspired Maykov to create it. However, a chronological analysis of the correspondence between Maykov and Dostoevsky in 1867–1869 allows us to gather and sequentially arrange facts reflecting the process of gradual development and final formation of the idea in the poet’s creative consciousness. It leads to the conclusion that the idea was formed in Maykov’s creative consciousness during an in-depth study of Russian history, prompted by his work on the translation of The Tale of Igor’s Campaign. Dostoevsky took some part in shaping the key features of the content and the principles of the artistic form of the tales. He was not directly involved as the ideological inspirer. He participated as a friend, an interlocutor, and like-minded person, with whom Maykov shared the details of his own creative search and thoughts on pressing issues of Russian social life at that time, among which questions about the originality and identity of Russian history, and the relations between Russia and Europe were some of the most important.

Traditions of Chinese classical literature and Western literature in Mo Yan’s novel “The Republic of Wine”

The article is devoted to the problem of interaction between the genres of Eastern and Western literature, which is an important part of modern literary criticism. In this paper, the interaction of genres is considered on the basis of Mo Yan’s novel “The Republic of Wine” (1992), translated into Russian in 2012 by I. Egorov. The work of the modern Chinese writer is studied in the aspect of “hallucinatory realism”, for its development the author was awarded the Nobel Prize (2012). The article studies the influence of classical Chinese literature genres and philosophy and Western literature on modern Chinese literature, based on the novel “The Republic of Wine” by Mo Yan. The novel of the Chinese writer is analyzed in the context of the world literary process. The article discusses the transformation of motifs and characters of Chinese classical literature in the novel by a modern Chinese author. The main characters of the novel are studied in relation to the plot-forming function they perform, the main of them is the detective one. The plot of the detective story is considered in relation to the satirical tradition. The article presents Mo Yan’s view of the traditions, mentality and lifestyle of the Chinese people. The purpose of the work is to determine the main aspects of the influence of Chinese and Western literature on the work of Mo Yan “The Republic of Wine”. As a result of the study, we describe the plot motifs and images of classical Chinese and Western novels, the ideological principles of Chinese philosophy, which are embodied in Mo Yan’s novel “The Republic of Wine”.

​​THE EFFECTS OF CHILDREN’S DRAMA ON THE LANGUAGE SKILLS OF 4-5-YEAR-OLDS​

Early childhood is an important period for the development and promotion of children’s language ability, special attention should be paid to the cultivation of children's language ability. The role dialogue and story plot in the story of fairy tales contain lots of language components in this study and is one of the children’s favorite form of activities. In many studies in the literature for preschool children （Mages, 2008; Can- Yaşar, 2009; Laurin, 2010; Ceylan & Ömeroğlu, 2012; Kaya, Günay & Aydın, 2016), all emphasize drama education as an important element of their learning and development. Based on the age characteristics of 4-5year old and two dimensions of children's language ability (listening and expression, reading and narration), four children drama education activities were designed and quasi-experimented in the experimental class. The following conclusions are obtained after the experiment: 1. The children's drama is suitable for promoting the development of 4–5-year-old children's language ability. 2. The children's drama promotes the language ability of 4-5 years old children.

Machine-learning applications for differentiation across states/stages of creative thinking based on time-series and time-frequency features of EEG/ERP signals

BACKGROUND: The study presents machine-learning (ML) classification approaches for the state/stage differentiation of creative tasks using the “test-control” approach. The control tasks were considered as the initial stages of the creative activity. Time-series and time-frequency electroencephalography (EEG) data analyses were employed in three divergent thinking tasks: 1) creating endings to well-known proverbs (“PROVERBS”, event-related potential [ERP] paradigm); 2) creating stories (“STORIES”, continuous EEG); 3) free creative painting (“viART”, continuous EEG). AIM: To compare and select effective ML classification approaches for EEG signal separation at different stages or states of creative task performance. METHODS: In this study, 22 individuals participated in the “PROVERBS” (ERP paradigm), 15 in the “STORIES”, and 1 (a longitudinal case study) in the “viART” tasks. Linear and convolutional neural network (CNN) classifiers were used. EEG data were previous artifacts corrected and converted to current source density (CSD). Continuous EEGs were divided into 4-s intervals and 1500 ms after stimulus presentation, were used in ERPs. The EEG/ERP time-frequency maps (Morlet wavelet transformation) for 3–30 Hz were generated for 4-s intervals with 100 ms shift (continuous EEGs in “STORIES” and “viART”) or for 1500 ms after stimulus presentation (ERPs in “PROVERBS”) and consisted of combined images (224×224 px) for frontal (Fz) and parietal (Pz) brain zones. Image classification was carried out using the modified CNN (ResNet50, ResNet18 architectures). RESULTS: The offline classification accuracy of the four-class system (description of a picture, inventing a story plot, continuation of story’s plot, and background with open eyes) in the “STORY” creation task was up to 96.4% [±8.3 SD] with ResNet architectures (ResNet50 and ResNet18). The accuracy of the three states discrimination of the artists’ creative painting (resting state with open eyes, painting on canvas, and viewing the painting) was 86.94% for kernel naive bayes and 98.2% for CNN. For the trained and tested samples given for the CNN in consecutive order (neurointerface mode), the accuracy diminished to 70.0% [11% SD] on average. In the ERP paradigm “PROVERBS”, the classification accuracy of the three-class system (creation of “new” ending, naming of semantic synonym, and remembering of the known ending) was 80.5% [±8.7 SD] for the common spatial pattern, followed by rSVM (radial kernel basis support vector machine), compared with 43.2% [±8.8 SD] for CNN. CONCLUSION: The use of CNNs allowed better classifying of “continuous” long-term states of creative activity. In fast “transient processes” such as ERP, time-series classifiers with spatial filtering proved to be more efficient.

An Analysis of Metaphorical Symbols in The Da Vinci Code

When explaining the story background and process of the novel The Da Vinci Code, the author Dan Brown describes the knowledge of semiotics, religion, culture, art and many other aspects incisively and vividly, and there are also many signs in the text. In The Da Vinci Code, it is the story plot containing various metaphorical symbols that can make it more wonderful.Peirce, known as the father of semiotics, was a famous semiotician who devoted his life to the theoretical research of semiotics and the application of semiotics in related categories. His three-part method of signs created a new perspective of semiotics research, made great contributions to the in-depth development of semiotics, and also provided a reference value for the theoretical framework of religious semiotics research.Using Peirces sign tripartite method, we can divide the signs involved in Dan Browns Da Vinci Code into three metaphorical symbols: star metaphorical symbol, flower metaphorical symbol and holy Grail metaphorical symbol. Through the analysis of the commonality and individuality of these signs, we can get the interpretation of the interlocking sign network in The Da Vinci Code, and finally summarize the role of these signs in the construction of the theme.
