Monitoring the growth and development of a child can begin from conception and will continue until adulthood, this process is mutually continuous and continuous. The development of language skills, creativity, emotional awareness, and intelligence is an important phase in a child's growth and development and is the cornerstone of subsequent development. This study aims to evaluate the ability of early childhood to improve gross motor and fine motor development skills through sensory play activities. The method of delivering information using the media of story books (fairy tales), sensory game tools that previously the children were given directions one example of simulation, then the children were directed to do independently. the results of normative identification of children's growth and development, it can be seen that from the value (5-1) range always to never, overall participants play with the highest frequency in the range is always on the cognitive and social interaction, the second position in fine & gross motor skills, and third in terms of language development and problem solving skills. The highest score level after the game, cognitive development is very significant children are very enthusiastic to follow the game conducted in groups. This activity will be better if done on an ongoing basis because it is very beneficial for early childhood development.

Adapting Technology for Dementia Care: The Case of Emobook App in Reminiscence focused Music Therapy

INTRODUCTION: Life Story books are frequently employed to facilitate reminiscence interventions, but their use in Music Therapy remains limited in the scientific literature. There is a paucity of research detailing the design processes involved in this context.OBJECTIVES: This paper aims to report on the adaptation of the Emobook Life Story Book App for a Reminiscence Music Therapy Program for people living with dementia.METHODS: An interdisciplinary team comprising an interaction designer, a software engineer, a music therapist, and a research assistant engaged in a Participatory Design process. The study comprised two distinct phases: "Adaptation Phase," aimed to identify features requiring adjustment to integrate Emobook into MT effectively and the "Implementation Phase," focused on evaluating the adequacy of these changes for Emobook's use within the Music Therapy ProgramRESULTS: By merging the requirements identified during each phase, additional improvements were generated, leading to the decision to evolve Emobook Post-Prototype towards a version tailored specifically for Music Therapy.CONCLUSION: Collaborative, interdisciplinary efforts are essential in advancing the incorporation of technology into music therapy practice. This study demonstrates the value of a Participatory Design approach in this regard.

Readability and Usability of Story Books for Teaching English at Senior High School

This research us focused on the readability level of story books for teaching English, and the usability of story books from the students’ and teachers’ perspective in tenth grade students at SMA Labschool Upgris. The objectives of this research were (1) to identify the readability level of usability story books for teaching English (2) to investigates the usability of story books from the students’ perspective (3) to analyze the usability of story books from the teachers’ perspective. The objects of the research are English story books as retold by Sugeng Hariyanto entitled “Nasreddin, a man who never given up”. Flesch Reading Ease Formula used to analyze the data. This research is categorized as descriptive qualitative method of the research. The overall explanation of the results and after conducting research on usability of story books for teaching English to tenth grade students in high school, the researcher can conclude that by reading story books, students are able to improve their ability to learn to read by thinking creatively and critically. The average readability score results of this storybooks are 52,46 which can be classified as Flesch Reading Ease. This means that the readability level of the story books is fairly difficult to read by students in grades 10 to 12.

Experiences of children's self-wetting (including urinary incontinence) in Cox's Bazar's Rohingya refugee camps, Bangladesh.

Self-wetting is the leakage of urine, either due to the medical condition of urinary incontinence (UI), or because a person does not want to, or cannot, access a toileting facility in time. This study explored the attitudes towards self-wetting and experiences of children (aged five to 11), their caregivers, community leaders and humanitarian practitioners in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. We particularly focused on how water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and protection interventions might assist in improving these experiences. We purposively selected participants from two camps where our partner organisation works. We conducted Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with community leaders and camp officials, Story Book (SB) sessions with Rohingya children and in-depth Interviews (IDIs) with caregivers of children who participated in the SB sessions, as well as surveying communal toilets. Self-wetting by children was common and resulted in them feeling embarrassed, upset and uncomfortable, and frightened to use the toilet at night; many children also indicated that they would be punished by their caregivers for self-wetting. Key informants indicated that caregivers have difficulty handling children's self-wetting due to a limited amount of clothing, pillows, and blankets, and difficulty cleaning these items. It was evident that the available toilets are often not appropriate and/or accessible for children. Children in the Rohingya camps appear to self-wet due to both the medical condition of UI and because the sanitation facilities are inappropriate. They are teased by their peers and punished by their caregivers. Although WASH and protection practitioners are unable to drastically alter camp conditions or treat UI, the lives of children who self-wet in these camps could likely be improved by increasing awareness on self-wetting to decrease stigma and ease the concerns of caregivers, increasing the number of child-friendly toilets and increasing the provision of continence management materials.

Developing Extensive Reading Materials of Kubu Raya Folktales for Senior High School Students

Due to the limited numbers of English books where students can read in the literacy program and teachers can use as reference in teaching English in the class, this present study aimed to develop reading material of Kubu Raya folktales for teachers. In conducting this research, the researcher adapted ADDIE model which used only four phases, namely, analyze, design, develop and implementation. The subject of this research was the grade X MIPA 1 students of SMA N 1 Sungai Kakap, Kubu Raya. Questionnaire and interview were conducted to gather the data from the school. The finding revealed that students were in need of English books that could increase their interest in reading in English with the culture that students were familiar with. Thus, this study developed extensive reading material in the form of a story book that consisted of ten stories from Kubu Raya folktales where students were mostly come from. It is recommended for the future research to evaluate the product developed in this study and to add more stories and cover more samples.Keywords: Extensive reading, Materials, Folktales

Peningkatan Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Isi Cerita Anak Melalui Media Handout Buku Bacaan Siswa Kelas V UPT SPF SD Inpres Bontomanai Kota Makassar

The problem in this research is: How do reading comprehension skills improve in concluding the contents of children's stories through developing reading book handouts for class V UPT SPF SD Inpres Bontomanai Makassar City students? The objectives of this research are; to determine the increase in learning outcomes in reading comprehension skills in concluding the content of children's stories through the development of reading book handouts for class V UPT SPF SD Inpres Bontomanai Makassar City students. The type of research used in this research is Classroom Action Research which consists of two cycles where each cycle is carried out in two meetings. The research subjects were teachers and students of class V UPT SPF SD Inpres Bontomanai, Makassar City, totaling 32 students consisting of 17 male students and 15 female students. The use of handout media can improve reading skills and understanding of the contents of children's stories in reading books for class V UPT SPF SD Inpres Bontomanai Makassar City. This can be seen from the results of the analysis of teacher activity observations in cycle I, namely 79.16% and increased in cycle II to 95.83%. Student activity also increased from 78% in cycle I to 95% in cycle II. Meanwhile, the results of the mastery test results in student learning outcomes in reading comprehension skills in cycle I were 37.5%, increasing to 87.5% in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of handout media can improve reading skills, understanding the contents of children's stories, reading books for class V UPT SPF SD Inpres Bontomanai, Makassar City.

Need Analysis for Developing ELT Material for Early Childhood Education at UIN Alauddin Makassar

This research investigated the need of English that is Learning Needs and Linguistik Needs for Early Childhood Education Department at UIN AlauddinMakassar. This study involved 42 respondents which consists of 38 students, 1 lecturer, and 3 graduates Early Childhood Education Department at UIN AlauddinMakassar. In collecting the data, questionnaire and interview were employed by the researcher. The collection of the data was done by distributing the questionnaires to the participants to identify the students‟ needs in Early Childhood Education Department and interview guideline to find additional data. The findings indicated that the students' ability levels of all components of English (reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary) are at the 'adequate' level. The order of students' preferences related to the English component is; Speaking and Vocabulary, which gained 3.35 of average score. level of other components of English, such as; Listening only reached 3.23 of average score, reading (3.22), writing and grammar (3.20). Meanwhile, the difficulties experienced by students while learning English were Inadequate knowledge of grammar (3.21). In addition, the most preferred learning style by students is film and video (3.24) and the most popular learning preference is speaking with a score of (3.20). This study also provides goals and objectives as a reference in designing and developing appropriate English language materials for Early Childhood Education.The goals that had been formulated are (1) to help students communicate effectively in English by developing students‟ English components and (2) to equip students to have a good basicfoundation in English which enables them to communicate everyday situations and topics. Besides, the formulated objectives are students able to use English components practically through topics related to the department with various learning preferences and styles.Objectives of this research;(1) This students are able to discuss,practice,andgive example about teaching reading for children using related vocabulary correctly.(2) The students are able to comprehend intermediate level reading materials related to children learning a foreign language and actively discuss it to their peers.(3) The students are able to practice teaching English with media using story book communicatively in small group.(4) The students are able to classify and explain about learning tools for early agr learners and conclude the topic in spoken and written English.(5) The students are able to understand and discuss clearly the way of teaching listening for children and give reason of how important to administer education.(6) The students are able to give clear presentation related to teaching English with media songs and practice with their listening.(7) The studentsare able to practice teaching English with media film cartoon in role play.(8) The students are able to participate actively in discussion related to the most appropriate English for early age lessons plans and give proper reason to their point of view.(9) The students are able to understand clear children development and characteristics and discuss their preferences towards the topic.

Pengembangan Kemampuan Bahasa Ekspresif Anak Melalui Membaca Nyaring Buku Berbasis Nilai Agama dan Moral di TKIT Permata Bunda Merauke

The development of expressive language needs to be developed so that children can express their opinions and thoughts to other people. Children's expressive language development can be developed through the reading aloud method. This research aims to examine the development of children's expressive language skills through reading aloud at TKIT Permata Bunda. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research were group A children aged 4-5 years and two teachers. Data collection techniques include interviews, documentation and direct observation. The results of the research show that developing children's expressive language skills can be done through the activity of reading aloud books based on religious and moral values. The implementation stage includes planning by selecting books according to the child's development level and containing religious and moral values. The next stage is implementation in the form of introducing the book, reading the story book aloud with the right intonation, holding a discussion and asking stimulating questions and motivating the child to retell the story. Next, the teacher carries out an assessment to determine the achievement of expressive language development.

ABSTRACT This article is concerned with the stories of Selahattin Demirtaş, with the preposition “of” indicating Demirtaş as both the storyteller and subject of stories. For many, if not most of us, he is known as both, with the stories about him circumscribing, and often overshadowing the stories he tells. Focusing on the stories told about him and that he tells in judicial proceedings about his political speeches, as well as those he tells in his first book of short stories, Seher, it considers how those stories pose a challenge to the account about the relationship between storytelling, speech, action, and politics predominate in political philosophy since Aristotle, giving particular attention to Hannah Arendt’s critique of that account. At the crux of the stories of Selahattin Demirtaş is a fundamental contestation about the relationship between ethnicity and the nation state, whether the demand for the political and territorial integrity of the nation necessitates foreclosing on the plurality of democratic dissensus.

The aim of this research is to describe improving reading ability through picture story books. The research method uses the literary study method. Where the data collection system in this research comes from books or journals which are analyzed based on existing problems. The results of this research indicate that picture story books are effective in improving students' reading skills. This is possible because when reading story books students are very motivated, because story books are a favorite among students in general. So, when the lesson material is changed into the form of a picture story, it really attracts students' attention

Identification of Religious and Cultural Elements in Arts Learning Materials at Indriyasana Somoitan Kindergarten and Mosque Syuhada Kindergarten

This research aims to describe religious and cultural elements in art learning materials in kindergarten. Art learning in early childhood is often carried out to develop various aspects of intellectual, social and spiritual maturity. This can be supported by the school's background under a religious foundation so that the learning carried out can be adapted to the existence of a religious environment in each school. The two schools use different cultural and religious elements in art learning at school. The writing of this article is the result of observations, interviews and documentation carried out using qualitative research methods with triangulation of data sources. The data analysis carried out obtained the results that the religious elements that appeared in arts learning in the two kindergartens were religious stories, religious singing, prayer activities with tunes, projects through stories in books, dancing with religious songs, playing angklung with spiritual songs, and playing gamelan with religious songs such as prayers. Meanwhile, the cultural elements applied are the introduction of traditional musical instruments, the introduction of traditional dance, the singing of children's songs, the use of traditional games associated with learning, making batik, and the use of traditional clothing in art learning.

Efektivitas Metode Storytelling Menggunakan Media Digital terhadap Kemampuan Bercerita Anak Usia 5-6 Tahun di Taman Kanak-kanak Pembagunan Laboratorium Universitas Negri Padang

The ability to tell stories is important to develop when children are at an early age. Based on observations at the UNP Development Laboratory Kindergarten, it appears that children's storytelling abilities are not yet optimal. This is due to the use of media which is still less supportive and less varied. The media used by educators still uses conventional media such as story books and picture series. One of the relevant ones is Microsoft's digital media sway. This media is able to attract children's attention and also makes it easier to listen to the stories displayed. This research aims to find out how effective digital media is in improving the storytelling abilities of young children in the UNP Laboratory Development Kindergarten. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi Experimental method. This research was carried out in two classes, namely group B1 as an experimental class with 13 children and group B2 as a control class with 13 children. The data collection technique involves testing with 4 statement items and data analysis methods include normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis tests and using effect size calculations. Based on data analysis, overall there was an increase in scores for the control and experimental classes. The pre-test score was 148 and the post-test score was 204, while the average pre-test and post-test results for the control class were 11.38 and 15.69. Meanwhile the scores on the pre-test and post-test for the experimental class were 203 and 241, with an average pre-test result of 15.62 and post-test 18.54. The resulting data is normally distributed and homogeneous. Obtaining an effect size of 1.69, it was concluded that it was included in the strong category. With this method, digital media has a significant effect on the storytelling ability of children aged 5-6 years.

Development of Picture Storybooks to Improve Students' Independent Character in Pancasila Education Learning

The objectives of this study are: (1) describe the contents of picture story book products; (2) explain the using of picture story book media; (3) analyze the teacher and student responses of picture story book as a media for learning; (4) clarify the effectiveness of picture story book media. This research was conducted on May – August 2023 of 27 students in SDIT As-Sabiquun of grade 1. The research on this study is used the Research and Development (R&D) method, which include the ADDIE development model in 5 steps. From the results of the feasibility test conducted by three validators, such as media expert, linguistic expert, and media materials expert, picture storybooks obtained an average percentage of 90% With a very decent category. The results of the teacher's response obtained an average percentage of 87%, meanwhile the results of student response in questionnaires for individual trials gained a percentage of 97.2%, besides small group tests obtained a percentage of 94.3%, and large group tests obtained a percentage of 95.3%. The results before and after treatment calculated using N-gain increased by 0.5 and reached medium category. So the conclusion is the development of picture storybook as media of learning are feasible, practical, and effective to improving the students' independent character for grade 1 in primary school.

Impact of Nutrition Education through Innovative Story Telling in Pre-School Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Aim: To assess the impact of Nutrition education through innovative story telling in fruits consumption among the pre-school children with autism spectrum disorder.
 Sample: Ninety children with autism spectrum disorder were selected from Preschools and BUDS schools of Thiruvananthapuram district.
 Study Design: To assess fruit consumption of pre-school children (3-6 years) with autism spectrum disorder, ninety children with autism spectrum disorder was selected from urban and rural areas of Trivandrum district, Kerala. Out of ninety, forty-five children with ASD were randomly selected as experiment group and forty-five children as control group. The experimental group received the nutrition education through story telling using story books.
 Place of study: Urban and rural areas of Trivandrum district were randomly selected for study.
 Methodology: Frequency of fruits consumption of 90 children (45 as control and 45 as experimental group) were collected using food frequency questionnaire in pre and post phase. After the nutrition education, pre and post scores of both groups were compared to find the deviation among the population.
 Results: Majority of the children with autism spectrum disorder shows significant changes in post Nutrition education. Frequency of fruits consumption increased after the Nutrition education in the experimental group compared to control group.
 Conclusion: Early childhood is a period of rapid growth and is an important phase for developing eating habits because the dietary behaviours acquired during the early years of life can extend to adulthood. Fruits are rich in fibre, nutrients, and vitamins. It's important to encourage children to consume a range of fruits and veggies. It protects against illness and promotes health both now and in the future.

Development of a Story Book Based on The Story Telling Method for Class 3 Students of MIS Musawiyah Primary School

This research aims to develop storybooks based on the story telling method. This research is research and development. This research uses the Four D development model, which has four stages including define, design, develop disseminate (Wijayanti et al., 2023). This research has only reached the development stage. The research was carried out at MIS MUSAWIYAH. The research subjects were 18 class III students consisting of 11 male students and 7 female students. The object of the research is a story book based on the story telling method. The data collection techniques used are observation and tests. Data analysis techniques are (1) analysis of the feasibility of story books based on the story telling method (b) analysis of the effectiveness of story books based on the story telling method . Based on the validation results, it is known that the material validation results, namely 93.75%, are categorized as very feasible. The validation results from language experts, namely 80.00%, were categorized as adequate. Meanwhile, the validation results from media experts, namely 92.87%, were categorized as very feasible. Based on these results, it can be concluded that storybooks based on the storytelling method are said to be suitable and effective for use by grade 3 students at Mismusawiyah Elementary School.

Development of Picture Storybook “Kotaku Indonesia Mini” to Foster The Unity Values of Grade 4 Elementary School Student

The purpose of this research is to determine the design and development of learning media for Picture Story Books entitled "Kotaku Indonesia Mini" to increase understanding and application of the values of unity in Pancasila education which focuses on grade 4 elementary school. This development research was carried out in the Sultan Agung Cluster, Aromulyo District, Salatiga City, which consists of three elementary schools, namely Ledok 01 Public Elementary School, Salatiga, Ledok 05 Public Elementary School, Salatiga, and Ledok 06 Salatiga Elementary School. This research uses Research and Development (RD) research. Research and development (RD) is a process or method used to validate and develop a product using the ASSURE development model. Validator expert assessment questionnaire sheets and response questionnaire sheets were used for data collection. The validation results show that the picture story book media "Kotaku Indonesia Mini" is considered feasible and practical with a percentage of material experts of 80%, media experts of 76.7%, and learning design experts of 89.4%. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the development of the Picture Story Book media "Kotaku Indonesia Mini" to foster the values of unity in the 4th grade of elementary school is considered feasible and practical to be included in the learning media for the learning process.

Effects of Extensive Reading Programme on Primary School Pupils’ Achievement in Reading Comprehension in Mangu LGA, Plateau State

This study sets out with the objectives to investigate the effects of extensive reading programme (ERP) on primary school pupils’ achievement in reading comprehension in Mangu LGA, Plateau State. Two sets of primary four pupils from different schools were used as experimental and control groups respectively. The population consisted of 215 pupils from two Public Primary Schools, Quasi-experimental research design was adopted to conduct the research using the non-equivalent control groups on the basis of using intact group. All conditions were similar in each group on reading comprehension with emphasis on vocabulary development, grammatical structure and the three comprehension approaches. Two instruments were use: the Standard story book and class Achievement Test (CAT) which was administered to the pupils’ before and after the treatment. Data collected were analyzed using the mean scores, standard deviation and t-test for independent sample. The results indicated that the experimental group performed significantly mean difference over the control group in their post-test in the area of vocabulary development, grammatical structure and the three comprehension approaches. It was therefore recommended that extensive reading should be considered an inevitable programme in the Public Primary Schools to improve their reading culture habit. Supplementary reading materials should be made available aside from the prescribed texts in all Public Primary Schools. Extensive reading programme was also recommended to be made compulsory on the school time table in order to ameliorate the reading challenges pupils have in Plateau state.

The Impact of Children’s Literature and Family Environment on Early Childhood Education

It is generally believed that early childhood education primarily takes place in early education in-stitutions, where parents receive training to support their child’s education. Additionally, children’s literature is diverse, with a rich history and various genres. However, there is a lack of research regarding the influ-ence of the family environment and children’s literature on early childhood education, particularly in terms of quantifying this impact. To address this gap in knowledge, this study investigates the effects of the family environment and children’s literature on early childhood education. Specifically, the early childhood educa-tion group is divided into two categories: a parental guardianship group and an others guardianship group, depending on the relationship between the person receiving training from the parent school and the child. The study compares the developmental quotient, height, and weight of children in each group. Additionally, three types of children’s literature commonly used in kindergartens (nursery rhymes, children’s films, and picture book stories) are selected to analyze their educational value for children. The results indicate that early education is crucial for children’s physical and mental development, and parents should receive train-ing in different groups based on their role as guardians. Furthermore, children’s literature can enhance chil-dren’s perception of beauty and contribute to their emotional, linguistic, intellectual, and social development.

A Comparative Study on Visual Attention, Verbal Engagement and Parental Behaviors During Shared Book Reading Using Scripted and Unscripted Story Books for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Purpose: Shared book reading is nowadays considered as an important early language stimulation technique in the field of speech language pathology which encourages parent-child bonding and creates a conducive environment for language development. The parent-child interaction is important for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This interaction along with adequate and contingent parental responses fosters early language development in children. Language-related parent behaviors promote children’s oral language skills by not only exposing the child to book-related vocabulary (e.g., labeling pictures, explaining word meanings, and linking words to everyday events), but also through explicit teaching of meaning-related skills related to the overall structure of the story (i.e., story grammar). Print-related SBR behaviors draw the child’s attention to print-related features of the book, for example, letter names and sounds.Methods: To better understand the relationship between children’s visual attention, verbal engagement and parent shared book reading behaviors during shared book reading tasks, this study included 10 preschoolers on the Autism Spectrum and their parents sharing an unfamiliar storybook including which are scripted and unscripted. Videos of the shared book reading interactions were transcribed and coded for visual attention, verbal engagement and parent behaviors using observational coding schemes. The frequency of visual attention, verbal engagement and parental SBR behaviors were compared between the scripted and unscripted story books using statistical tests-Wilcoxon signed rank test and Fisher’s Exact test.Results: Result reveals that there was no statistically significant difference between frequency of visual attention during unscripted story books and scripted books. Parental behaviors parameters pertaining to shared book reading were analyzed and found a significant difference in usage of book language is greater for scripted story books compared to unscripted books.Conclusions: The key findings shows the type of book (scripted or unscripted) have a significant impact and its contribution to the intervention of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Parental SBR behaviors can in turn contribute to the development of childhood language and preliteracy skills.
