A non-centrosymmetric organic class of p-nitrobenzylidene-p-phenylamineaniline (NBPAA) crystalline material was successfully prepared by slow solvent evaporation solution growth method. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study confirms that the titled material exists in monoclinic crystal system with the space group of Cc. The well defined powder X-ray diffracted intensity peaks at the specific 2θ angles, inferred the higher crystallinity of the material. The estimated unit cell values were found to be a = 10.40 Å, b = 16.82 Å, c = 8.90 Å, α = 90°, β = 97.71° , γ = 90° and V = 1548 Å3 . The titled crystal shows two absorption bands (289 and 439 nm) in the wavelength region, 200–500 nm. Thus the transparency window above 550 nm will be suitable for nonlinear optical devices. Thermal studies were carried out on the NBPAA crystal at the heating rate of 5 °C min−1. Thermal stability and melting point of the NBPAA crystal were determined to be 230 °C and 175 °C respectively. The bulk resistance (Rb) and dc electrical conductivity (σdc) were estimated for the various temperatures (40–120 °C) respectively. The low dielectric constant value (∼76) and improved σdc (6.7413 × 10−6 Sm−1) of NBPAA crystal find its suitability towards optoelectronic and microelectronic devices.
