PZT-PVDF composites of 0-3 connectivity are fabricated using i) PZT powder synthesized in our laboratory and ii) commercially available PZT powders (3 types). Hot-Press technique is used for the preparation of 0-3 composites. The PZT powder is synthesized by ‘Wet grinding Solid State Thermal Reaction’ method. The piezoelectric coefficients and dielectric constant of the composites prepared using the PZT powder synthesized in the laboratory are compared with those prepared using commercial PZT powders. The study is focused on two aspects: Effect of the phase of PVDF (α,β and γ) on the properties of the composites Effect of poling filed on the properties of the composites The piezoelectric coefficients and dielectric constant are studied as a function of volume fraction of PZT.
