The wholesome quest for a satisfactory theo retical framework for Introductory Sociology has been recently set aside by the rise of two schools of thought: (1) the social problems school, and (2) the over-all social science school. The Social Problems course as such is valid, but the role assigned to it as an Introductory Sociology course is invalid. The over-all social science course is meaningful for its own sake, but to look upon it as a substitute for Introductory Sociology is meaningless.
