Design of Self-Educational Activity of the Future Teacher as Leading Factor in the Formation its Innovative Competence (Methodological Aspects)

Education is the basis for the economic and spiritual development of any society. Modern education system places demand on the teacher, such as professionalism, soft skills, mobility, and the ability to process creatively an ever-increasing flow of information and apply it competently in practice; thus, the preparation of a future teacher is a social order in relation to higher pedagogical education. Nowadays the development of the concept of lifelong education is being strengthened, and university training turns into an extremely important stage with the main goal when the student must be prepared not only for practical activities, but also for further systematic improvement of their professional qualifications. Consequently, preparing a future specialist for self-education is a requirement of the modern education system of the country. It is obvious that the objective need of society is determined by the competitive ability of specialists in the world market, their adaptation to changing socio-economic conditions. The paper is devoted to the methodological approaches of the future teacher’s formation of the innovative competence.

Values, prices and natural liberty: on the dual role of prices in the history of economic analysis

Natural liberty is a powerful idea of social order. However, a tension has always existed between its reality and social values. Here, I try to identify where the fault line may lie between an order that fulfils social expectation and one that does not. I claim that throughout history, this fault line had been manifested in the distinction drawn between the concepts of price and value. The first emerges in markets and the second reflects social expectations. Juxtaposing the two reveals either harmony or dissonance between natural liberty and social expectations. Convergence then is a necessary condition for social validity.

Phenomenon of Phubbing in The Communication Patterns of The Influencer Generation

The rapid development of technology in the modern era triggers new characters in society due to the onslaught of information and communication technology development. This is also close to the influencer generation or Gen Z. One of the new characters is Phubbing, which comes from the words “phone” and “snubbing”, which is meant as the phenomenon of insulting or ignoring someone because they are too focused on the device. Previous studies show that 80.2% of influencers or gen Z have phubbed, and 91.3% admitted to having been phubbed by a phubbee due to excessive device use. One can lose trust, disharmonious interpersonal relationships, and empathy. So, this research aims to look at and study the theory of technological determinism from this point of view. To investigate the phubbing phenomenon, a descriptive qualitative approach was used. In addition, to obtain information about phubbing, the research subject used purposive nonprobability sampling method with 8 participants. The results showed that the presence of new media can cause phubbing to change the communication patterns of the influencer generation or Gen Z. Then, the main component of phubbing is the presence of new media. Then, the main component of phubbing is losing one's control over the use of new media. With most audiences considering phubbing as normal, this leads to a social order system that is plunged by technological determinism. The study of phubbing is reinforced by the theory of technological determinism. Technological advances allow audiences to take direct action. This research hopes to open new insights and perspectives in research and offer solutions for audiences to deal with the phenomenon of phubbing in the digital age.

Dynamics of knowledge creation and use for disaster management in Chokwe district, Mozambique

PurposeDisaster management practices depend on societies' knowledge. As climate change rapidly reshapes knowledge, questions arise about how knowledge for disaster management is produced and (re)shaped in modern world and how effective it is to withstand the ever-growing frequency and magnitude of disasters. This paper discusses the dynamics of knowledge creation and its use for disaster management in Chokwe district, southern Mozambique.Design/methodology/approachThe study reviews historical archives to identify how disaster management knowledge has changed from pre-colonization to the present.FindingsBefore colonization, local knowledge associated with traditions of asking gods and ancestors for rain and blessings in life prevailed. With colonization, around the 1500s, Portuguese rulers attempted to eliminate these local practices through an inflow of European settlers who disseminated scientific knowledge, built dams and irrigation schemes, which changed the region’s knowledge base and regimes of flooding and drought. After independence in 1975, the new government nationalized all the private property, expelled the settlers and imposed a socialist order. All knowledge on disaster management was dictated by the new government; those against this new order were sent to re-education centers implanted nationwide. Centralization of knowledge and power was, therefore, implanted. Socialism collapsed by the 1990s, and over time, there has been an amalgam of different knowledge bases and attempts to recognize local disaster management practices.Originality/valueThe Chokwe case shows that knowledge for disaster management evolves with local socioeconomic, political and environmental changes.

The African Human Rights Perspectives Through the Lense of Oral Narratives

Human rights existed in African tradition for societal order and for community responsibility of success and failures. People enjoyed freedom and preserved freedom according to community beliefs and customs. Advocacy was expressed through singing, drama, storytelling and assignment of roles based on age gender and ability. This paper unfolds human rights advocacy oral narratives. Hausa dated as far as BC 14th or 15th Century Arabic writing with the first poets Ibn al- Sabbagh and Muhammadual- Barnawi, other writers of the time were Abdullahi Sikka and Shekh Jibril ibn Umar. The first novels written in Hausa were the result of a competition launched in 1933 by the Translation Bureau in northern Nigeria. One year later the bureau published Muhammadu Bello’s Gandoki, in which its hero, Gandoki, struggles against the British colonial regime. Bello does in Gandoki what many writers were doing in other parts of Africa during this period: he experiments with form and content. His novel blends the Hausa oral tradition and the novel, resulting in a story patterned on the heroic cycle; it also introduces a strong thread of Islamic history. Didactic elements, however, were awkwardly interposed and severely dilute Gandoki’s aesthetic content (as often happened in other similarly experimental African novels). But Bello’s efforts would eventually give rise to a more sophisticated tradition of novel writing in Hausa. His experimentation found its most successful expression in Amos Tutola’s English-language novel The Palm-Wine Drunkard (1952). The Volcano and the Vampire: The Case for a Volcanic Gothic

This article charts the cultural connections between the vampire and the volcano as gothic symbols. Covering the period between the eighteenth century – when increased volcanic activity on Etna and Vesuvius as well as the excavations at Pompeii sparked a cultural fascination with volcanos – and the publication of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897), which originally featured a sensational volcanic ending, I argue that the volcano and the vampire become culturally interconnected and share much of the same symbolic coding and signifying power. Both threaten social orders and even civilizations through the destruction of human bodies, relationships, and property. Both are portals in time – sites where ancient horrors might be spewed forth to menace the present. And both produce uncannily petrified people, from the undead body of the vampire to the human remains from Pompeii. This article makes the case for the volcano as an important and previously overlooked gothic symbol, and for a Volcanic Gothic as a mode through which writers could articulate cultural fears.

Mstislav Dobuzhinsky’s illustrations to the tale by Yury Olesha The Three Fat Men have not received a convincing interpretation. It is suggested to read these illustrations as a special work with the social imaginary that expands the participation of the fairy tale’s characters in revolutionary events through a special gaze technique. Two types of imagination are distinguished: the narrative imagination, implying the acceptance of the structure of an event, and the eccentric imagination, in which the event requires immediate action. This distinction is rooted in the practices of political rhetoric and was internalized by Olesha himself from his experience with European prints and decals. The magic of decals is essential to the plot of his fairy tale, but even more so to Dobuzhinsky’s pictorial program. Dobuzhinsky uses unusual avantgarde angles, framing, the view from the protagonist’s perspective and the meeting of views, drawing, among other things, on images of knowledge in European utopias. Referring to the philosophical concepts of the gaze, it is possible to reconstruct the system of empathy, sympathy for the characters and their eccentric actions, which Dobuzhinsky’s illustrations are meant to evoke. When reading Olesha’s tale, we follow the twists and turns of the narrative; when looking at the illustrations, we realize how each character contributes to the unusual development of events and how the meeting of gazes can establish a new social order. Dobuzhinsky does not simply interpret Olesha’s tale, but plays it out, engaging readers in an interactive game.

Competing Visions and Converging Realities? Justice and Security Governance in Post-Conflict Bougainville and Solomon Islands

This article examines narratives and practices of post-conflict recovery in Bougainville and Solomon Islands respectively, with particular emphasis on the governance of justice and security. The original visions and pathways to recovery differed markedly in each case. Drawing on local strengths, including traditional leadership and customary practices of reconciliation, was integral to Bougainville’s aspirations for peacebuilding and the shaping of its post-conflict social and political order. Under the auspices of a major Australian-led regional intervention, Solomon Islands followed a more conventional state building approach that made few concessions to the significance of local non-state social institutions and actors in relation to justice and security. Despite these initial divergences, recent years have seen growing areas of convergence in both places, notably around acknowledging the importance of practical hybridity between state and non-state forms of justice and security governance.

Hating Women: A Constitution of Hate in Plain Sight.

In April 2023, the U.K. government announced that misogyny would not be categorized as a hate crime stating that this "may prove more harmful than helpful." This article argues that before and beyond hate crime, misogyny, understood as the hatred of women (from the Greek misein [hate] gynae [women]), is the foundational logic of our legal, social, and political order in the west. This constitution of hate relies on the active dehumanization, exploitation, and ownership of women's bodies by the institution of white men through making women the object of the "colonization of the everyday." This exhausting hatred is enacted through repetitive, unceasing, and everyday violence toward women. Simply put, patriarchal, colonial, capitalist democracy is only sustained through violence against women. Hating women is, therefore, not a pathology of society but rather is the necessary existence condition of our legal-political constitution, clear to see yet hiding in plain sight. Misogyny ensures the precarity of women's bodies and women's status as trespassers in everyday spaces that are deliberately always already misogynistic. Given the foundational nature of misogyny, did the government have a point in excluding endemic violence against women from hate crime as "more harmful than helpful?" Is hate crime merely constitutive of a cultural matrix of misogyny? This paper enacts a decolonial feminist prism to disrupt the cultural condition of misogyny by thinking hate crime together with legal-political constitutional and cultural change. The paper explores violence against women set against the historical emergence of misogyny from Greek dehumanization, to medieval persecution of "witches," the muzzling and banning of women from public spaces, Shakespeare's "Taming," to contemporary femicide rates. Interrogating hate crime through this prism offers nuanced routes for how to disrupt the legal-political constitution of misogyny that is neither hidden nor new. Misogyny is enduring.

A Confucian Criticism of Scientism: Revisiting the 1923 Controversy of the Life-View

The life-views ( renshengguan ) of the supporters of scientism and of metaphysics in the 1923 controversy are distinct in their concept of the person, with consequences bearing on the nature of a proposed social order. This distinction became apparent when I deciphered the structure based on Confucian and Lebensphilosophie sources that underlie their views. Analysis demonstrates the radical approach of the supporters of science who are generally committed to a homogeneous context regardless of human or material. One attendant consequence of their argument is a concept of the person who realizes themselves in isolation from their surroundings. In contrast, the implicit framework of this-worldliness adopted by the supporters of metaphysics departs from the emotive and moral core of the person, acknowledging the resilience of lived experience. Endorsing the idea of human interrelatedness and interaction they denoted the heterogeneous context of human relations, contending that the person realizes herself in considerate responsiveness.

The Unheard Voices of the Subaltern in Harshankar Jaladas’s Ramgolam

This paper investigates the class struggle of the Harijans (Hindu sweepers) in Bangladesh as portrayed in Harishankar Jaladas’s Ramgolam. Due to society-imposed identifier of ‘untouchability’, the scavengers in Bangladesh have historically been subjected to discrimination and marginalization. They have been deprived of choices such as free selection of occupation, access to housing, education and other rights. Contending with the conventional notion that Hinduism maintains social order by caste hierarchies and divisions of labour, Jaladas shows how the desperate poor people respond to the notion of untouchability and show resistance to caste discrimination. The protagonist Ramgolam occupies a significant place in Bangla literature through his unique leadership and for his escapade towards freedom from social supremacy. It is arguable that it is not only by Hindu religious ideology but also through historical, colonial, economic, political and social aspects of castebased discrimination that eventually leads them to raise their voices in a world where no one is there to hear them. Through qualitative research methodology, this paper concludes in implying the never-ending struggle of the Harijan sweepers which remains unnoticed to the civilized world and the subaltern are not capable enough to deal with the hegemony imposed by bureaucracy and political conspiracy

Discursive and institutional standards of justice in the modern world-system

In the article the essence of standards of justice in the modern world-system is outlined in a general way. It is shown that these standards emerged in the European capitalist world-economy in consequence of the French Revolution. Standards of justice are interpreted as ideological semantic constructions that have been institutionalized simultaneously with establishment, first, of the ideology of liberalism as the geoculture of the modern world-system and, second, — of model of liberal state. Standards of justice are considered within theoretical theses and methodological guiding lines of I. Wallerstein's theory of the modern world-system. However, some theoretical theses of J. Alexander's civil society theory are also used to supplement and concretize considered in the article problems with some new arguments. For instance, Alexander's conceptual toolkit helped to distinguish discursive and institutional standards of justice. Reasons and peculiarities of establishment of standards of justice are considered and role these standards played in the providing of development of the modern world-system is shown. In particular, it is elucidated that owing to these standards elites of the core countries of the modern world-system managed to redirect the rebellion energy of the lower strata from antisystemic revolutions to struggle for inclusion to liberal state. This helped to calm the lower strata down and to guard structures of the modern world-system against essential damages. Standards of justice contributed to legitimation of social order of the modern world-system. Full integration of the lower strata to newly created national societies reinforced social solidarity, and this strengthened the core states even more. It is shown that for today in particular countries of periphery and semi-periphery trends of revision of current standards of justice and their replacement by alternative semantic constructions become visible.

Ambedkar’s Views on Social Justice

Social justice is an application of distributive justice to wealth, assets, privileges and advantages within a society or a state. The essence of justice is the attainment of common good for all. Social justice involves the creation of a just and fair social order and provides justice for every member of the community. Social justice in India is the product of social injustice of the caste system. Such social inequalities pose a serious threat not only to society but also to Indian democracy. He understood social, political, religious and economic problems as associated with caste and the position of women in Indian society. A Detecting Fake News Using Machine Learning: A Comparative Study of Techniques

Many people get their news via the Internet and social media platforms, and given the rapid growth of these platforms, fake news may now spread easily and quickly. False information that aims to mislead and harm society and the individual is known as fake news. By deliberately spreading false information, the media distort public opinion and threaten the social order by leading people to believe things that are not true. With the massive expansion of social media networks, the spread of fake news has increased dramatically. Although interesting, it poses some difficulties due to limited resources (such as datasets and published research). This paper presents diverse machine-learning techniques to identify fabricated news by analyzing the textual content. Several techniques were used, including SVM, RF, logistic regression, Naive Bayes, Gradient Boosting, AdaBoost, KNN, DT, and XGBoost. Based on comparing the results, who got the best result with an accuracy rate of 0.9967 and the lowest loss of 0.003 The study includes a variety of methodologies, such as natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and data mining, which have been found to improve the efficiency of text processing to increase accuracy and can save time and effort by automatically identifying fake news, especially in light of the massive amount from materials available on the Internet.

Dystopian Futures and Posthuman Realities

Lauren Beukes’s Moxyland is a dystopian science fiction novel set in a near-future Cape Town, South Africa, which delves into the complex interplay between posthuman biopolitics, technology, authority, and the human body. This article examined the posthuman dimension through the lens of biopolitics. The article depicts the oppressive nature of pervasive surveillance and corporate control informed by the apartheid past, wherein four characters become entrapped in a society governed by these forces. Moreover, it demonstrates how the bodily integration of the regulatory technology derives from the racial idea of Western personhood, which intensifies the subjugation by altering subjects into posthuman entities. By adopting the Foucauldian theory of biopolitics as an analytical framework, this study traces the pivotal role played by biopolitics in the transformation of individuals into posthumans. The amalgamation of surveillance technologies and bioengineered enhancements leads to the commodification and perpetual manipulation of the subject, serving to uphold social order and preserve capitalist systems. The findings of this study shed light on the intensification of the control exerted by posthuman biopolitics, thereby contributing to the reconfiguration of the place of humans in academic discourse surrounding the intersection of power, technology, and the human body. By critically analysing the novel through the lens of Foucauldian theory, this article offers insights into the consequences of biopolitical control, underscoring the need for critical examination and discourse on the ethical implications of emergent posthuman societies in the Global South.

Analysis of the Use of Qris as Social Change Among Students

Background: This research aims to analyze the use of QRIS as an alternative to digital payments at Hasanuddin University, explore the factors influencing its adoption among students, and provide recommendations for increasing its implementation, while assessing social changes related to the shift from cash to digital money. Objective: This research aims to describe Hasanuddin University students' awareness of the use of QRIS as a digital payment solution and analyze the social changes that occur as a result of the use of QRIS among students. Method: This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive research type. The population in this study were students registered in the Hasanuddin University FISIP Sociology Masters Program, and the sampling technique in this study was a probability sampling method with types. The type of method used was total sampling where the sample size was the same as the population with the number of research samples being 86 person. Results: The results of this research show that: first, the level of awareness of Hasanuddin University FISIP Masters students regarding the use of the QRIS application as a transaction method is in the "Enough" category with a TCR of 60.093; second, QRIS functions as a social fact that maintains social order by reducing criminal acts and building trust between individuals; third, there are five stages of the innovation diffusion process in the practice of using the QRIS application among students, namely the stages of introduction, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. Conclusion: Digital awareness in the use of the QRIS application among students of the Master of Sociology FISIP University of Hasanuddin involves seven main aspects: Posthumanism, Human-Machine Interaction, Digital Aesthetics, Fluidity of Identity and Consciousness, Technology and the Evolution of Consciousness, Transcendence of Physical Boundaries, and Interdisciplinarity.

Social Capital and Community Adaptation to the COVID-19 Pandemic (Empirical Evidence: Sambirejo Village, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia)

With the ever-increasing uncertainty of the impact of humans on the environment, the study of adaptive societal behavior has gained interest in seeking to actively limit disaster-related losses. Despite numerous studies on the role of social capital in Indonesian tourism, the extent to which community social capital adapts to social order changes due to events like the COVID-19 pandemic or earthquake shocks has not been thoroughly studied. This study explored the social capital of people in tourist village areas, specifically in Sambirejo Village, Indonesia, and how it supported collective action during the COVID-19 pandemic to enhance community resilience and in turn succeed as a tourist village. Sambirejo Village has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a decline in tourism visits and income, highlighting the importance of social capital in fostering resilience. The research utilized a quantitative approach, collecting data through a questionnaire and analyzing descriptive statistical results. The model construct was then built and tested using a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis. The SEM analysis revealed the crucial role of government and community initiatives in fostering community resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the need for well-placed policies to help communities increase their social capital and combat the pandemic effectively.

The Influence of Performance Effectiveness, Procedural Justice and Social Capital on Public Trust In The Police In The Central Jakarta Metro Police Jurisdiction

Public trust in the police is a problematic issue for modern police everywhere, including in Indonesia. The police agency needs a high level of trust to be able to carry out its duties and functions as the person in charge of social order and law in society. This study intends to examine the influence of performance effectiveness, procedural justice and social capital on public trust in the police in Central Jakarta. The survey was conducted to 400 respondents using the cluster purposive random sampling method at the sub-district level. The results showed that the performance effectiveness variable had a significant effect (0.275), the procedural justice variable had no significant effect, and the social capital variable had a significant effect (0.133).

The shared genetic etiology of antisocial behavior and psychiatric disorders: Insights from pleiotropy and causality analysis

BackgroundAntisocial behavior (ASB) infringes on the rights of others and significantly disrupts social order. Studies have shown that ASB is phenotypically associated with various psychiatric disorders. However, these studies often neglected the importance of genetic foundations. MethodsThis study utilized genome-wide association studies and pleiotropy analysis to explore the genetic correlation between ASB and psychiatric disorders. Linkage disequilibrium score regression (LDSC) and high-definition likelihood (HDL) methods were employed to assess genetic correlations, and the PLACO method was used for pleiotropy analysis. Functional annotation and biological pathway analysis of identified pleiotropic genes were performed using enrichment analysis. Furthermore, Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted to validate these causal relationships. ResultsLDSC and HDL analysis showed that significant positive genetic correlations were between ASB and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia (SCZ), major depressive disorder (MDD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Multiple potential pleiotropic genetic loci were identified, particularly the FOXP2 and MDFIC genes located at the 7q31.1 locus. Enrichment analysis showed that these pleiotropic genes are highly expressed in several brain regions (such as the hypothalamus, cerebellar hemisphere, cortex, and amygdala) and immune-related cells. MR analysis further confirmed the causal effects ADHD, SCZ, and MDD on ASB risk. ConclusionThis study reveals significant genetic correlations and potential causal mechanisms between ASB and various psychiatric disorders. The MR analysis confirmed the causal effects of psychiatric disorders on ASB. These findings deepen our understanding of the genetic architecture of psychiatric disorders and ASB.
