Measure of venture performance of hotel industry in south- south region of Nigeria

This research work sets out to interogate the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies and venture performance of hotel establishments in the South-South of Nigeria while also examining the effect of the dimensions of entrepreneurial competencies within the hotel industry in same region. These competences include opportunity identification, innovativeness, and proactiveness on the measures of venture performance. The study used Organizational culture as moderating variable, while adopting a correlational research design. The population of the study comprised of registered hotels in the South-South geographical zone, which is a total number 1,063. The sample size for the study is 290 hotels and the instrument for data collection was a questionnaire which reliability was determined with Cronbach Alpha test, generating a score of .979. The univariate analysis was undertaken using the descriptive statistical tools of frequencies, percentages, mean, standard deviation, charts and tables among others. The bivariate and multivariate analyses employed the Spearman Rank Order Correctional Coefficient. The study revealed strong significant relationships existing between opportunity identification and measures of venture performance, innovation and measures of venture performance, and proactiveness and measures of venture performance. Organizational culture significantly moderated the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies and venture performance. The study concluds that entrepreneurial competencies are strongly related to venture performance and recommends that management of hotels should acquire entrepreneurial competencies and skills in order to ensure high performance of the hotels they manage.

A Nexus between Project Management Lifecycle and Performance of Slums Upgrading Projects in Nairobi City County, Kenya

The alarming rate of urban sprawl poses a social menace for city planners and governments worldwide and Nairobi city of Kenya is not an exception. Challenges of access to appropriate and affordable housing has forced majority of city residents to occupy shanties with deplorable living conditions thus, the need to improve the infrastructure in the slums. In Kenya, the government has initiated various projects in a bid to carry out a facelift of slums countrywide. Although, involvement of key stakeholders in each of the phases of project management lifecycle (PMLC) that is, project initiation, planning, implementation, Monitoring & evaluation and closure remains a critical factor to the realization of slum upgrading infrastructure development, the affected communities are not fully engaged thus thwarting effective implementation of the planned activities. In this regard, the aim of the study was to examine the influence of PMLC on performance of slums upgrading projects (PSUP). A descriptive survey research design and a correlational research design were utilized whereby data was analysed and interpreted using means, standard deviations, correlation of coefficient and correlation of determination. A sample of 266 was drawn from a target population of 794, of which 208 responded to a 5-point Likert Scale questionnaire. Qualitative data collected was presented in narrative form. Results obtained indicated a linearly positive and a very strong significant relationship between PMLC and PSUP. When all phases were combined PMLC explained 62.9% of the overall variation in PSUP. The findings indicate that a unit increase in initiation and planning stages result to an increase in PSUP by 7.77% and 1.97% respectively whereas for a unit decrease in project implementation and project M&E, PSUP decreases by 2.07% and 1.72% respectively. It was thus concluded that PMLC significantly influences Performance of Slum Upgrading Projects. The recommendation of the study was that activities pertaining to project planning, M&E and project closure phases be efficiently executed for optimum performance of the projects.

Respondents Personal Information as Predictors to the Factors that Influence Academic Performance of Learners

The purpose of the study was to determine which of the respondents profile information best predicts the academic performance among learners. A total of 100 learners were selected using the random sampling technique in Binugao National High School in Davao City, Region XI. The study utilized a descriptive- correlation design. An adapted survey questionnaires were utilized which centered on respondents personal information and academic performance. Percentage, Mean, Pearson r, and regression analysis were used as statistical tools of the study. Results revealed on the percentage of respondent profile information among learners in terms of gender, age and parental annual income is 100 percent. The extent of academic performance among learners in terms of student related factor is mostly extensive; in terms of school related factor is sometimes extensive; in terms of home related factor is sometimes extensive; and in terms of teacher related factor is sometimes extensive. Clearly, the findings inferred a strong significant relationship between the respondent profile information and academic performance among learners. Based on the result of the analysis, the respondent profile information namely: gender, age and parental annual income predicts academic performance of the learners by registering a p-value of .001 which is less than .05 in the level of significance. This leads to the rejection of the null hypothesis. Further, the result indicates that for every unit increase in three facets of respondent profile information, the academic performance among learners will also increase by 3.498 holding other factors constant.

Conflict Management Strategies and Organizational Performance of Oil and Gas Firms in Rivers State

This study examined the relationship between conflict management strategies and organizational performance in oil and gas firms in Rivers State. The study adopted correlational survey research design. The population of the study constitutes the elements within the study unit. The population of the study comprised twenty-five (25) oil and gas companies. The data for this study were collected through primary data source; the questionnaire was the instrument used in collecting primary data. A total of one hundred and twenty-five copies of the questionnaire were distributed in a frame of 5 copies per firm. Reliability analysis was performed on the data using the Cronbach Alpha coefficient and it stood at 0.88. The data collected for the study were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. The Spearman Rank-Order Correlation was adopted. The findings revealed a significant relationship between accommodation strategy and organisational performance of oil and gas firms in Rivers State. Also, a strong significant linear relationship was revealed between collaboration strategy and organisational performance of oil and gas firms in Rivers State. The study concludes that oil and gas firms should embrace collaboration and accommodation strategy as preferred strategies for effective conflict management within the organizational context. The study recommends that oil and gas firms should focus on increasing the utilization of conflict management strategies like collaboration and accommodation strategy to increase organizational performance.

Conflict Resolution and Organizational Performance of Oil and Gas Firms in South-South Nigeria

This study examined the relationship between conflict resolution and organizational performance oil and gas firms in south-south Nigeria. The study adopted correlational survey research design. Population of the study constitutes the elements within the study unit. Therefore, the population of the study comprised of twenty-five (25) oil and gas companies. Data for this study were collected through primary data source; the questionnaire was the instrument used in collecting primary data. A total of two hundred and fifty copies of the questionnaire were distributed in a frame of 10 copies per firm. Reliability analysis was performed on the data using the Cronbach Alpha coefficient and it stood at 0.98. The data collected for the study were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. The multiple regression analysis was adopted. The findings revealed a significant relationship between compromising strategy and organisational performance of oil and gas firms in south-south Nigeria. Also, a strong significant linear relationship was revealed between collaboration strategy and organisational performance of oil and gas firms in south-south Nigeria. The study concludes that oil and gas firms should adopt collaboration and compromise strategy, given its effectiveness in conflict management, as demonstrated by this study and supported by numerous other research findings. Furthermore, the study recommends that organizations should focus on increasing the utilization of conflict management strategies like collaboration and compromise strategy to increase organizational performance.

Kajian Penerimaan Aplikasi IKD Dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Layanan Dukcapil Pemalang: Upaya Menuju Transformasi Layanan

E-government was driven successfully due to government initiatives and acceptance of technology. This research aims to test whether perceived usefulness, ease of use, and security have a positive relationship with user interest in Digital Population Identity (IKD) in Pemalang Regency. The quantitative method is the method used in this research with a sample of 100 people who use Digital Population Identity (IKD). The results obtained from this research show that there is a very strong positive and significant relationship between perceived usefulness, user-friendliness, and security on user interest in IKD. Results were obtained with a significance level of 0.05, namely, r calculated 0.951 > r table 0.195. Apart from that, obtaining a sig value of 0.000 < 0.05 indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted so that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This means that the degree of relationship between the variables of perceived usefulness, user convenience, and security on user interest is a very strong correlation category.

Environmental Accounting and Sustainable Development of Firms in Rivers State, Nigeria

Within the scope of the research, environmental accounting and sustainable development were explored in relation to oil and gas firms located in Rivers State, Nigeria. There was a correlational survey research design used for the investigation. A total of six oil and gas businesses that were active in the Rivers State Region of Nigeria were included in the study's research population. For this particular investigation, secondary data served as the instrument. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 22 was used in order to do the analysis on the data. A simple bivariate regression analysis was performed at a significance level of.05. The research issues were evaluated using the mean and standard deviations, and hypotheses were assessed using the analysis. The data indicated that there is no substantial connection between the cost of waste management and the ecologically sustainable growth of oil and gas businesses in Rivers State, Nigeria. Additionally, there is a strong significant association between the cost of pollution control and the development of ecological sustainability, as well as a strong significant relationship between the cost of pollution control and the development of economic sustainability for oil and gas businesses in Rivers State, Nigeria. By adhering to social responsibility in waste management, oil and gas firms should put a premium value on initiatives that are focused towards reducing their ecological footprint and promoting sustainable growth while also reducing their environmental impact.

Correlation of Simple Laboratory Result Parameters to CTP and MELD Scores, and the Diagnostic Role of Simple Laboratory Indexes to Cirrhosis Decompansation

BackgroundCirrhosis of the liver is a final condition of all chronic liver diseases. Liver cirrhosis is the leading cause of increasing morbidity and mortality in adults worldwide. Systemic inflammation has been suggested to play an important role in causing progressive liver damage and is one of the leading causes of compensated and decompensated liver cirrhosis.Aim of StudyEvaluate the correlation of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), albumin-bilirubin ratio (ABR), albumin-bilirubin score (ALBI), aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio (APRI), albumin-creatinine ratio (ACR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR), de ritis ratio to the severity of liver cirrhosis as assessed by CTP score and MELD score. In addition, this study also evaluated the diagnostic ability of NLR, ABR, ALBI, APRI, ACR, LMR, de ritis ratio, and CTP and MELD scores in predicting decompensated liver cirrhosis.MethodWe conducted a cross-sectional study involving patients diagnosed with liver cirrhosis at Prof DR IGNG Ngoerah General Hospital. All patients were diagnosed based on clinical history, physical examination, and investigations. This study enrolled 96 cirrhotic patients regardless of etiology. Laboratory examination results recorded platelets, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, AST, ALT, albumin, and creatinine. Then NLR, ACR, APRI, LMR, de raitis, ALBI, and ABR are calculated. CTP and MELD scores were calculated by taking data from the patient's medical recordResultOf the 96 patients tested in our study, the majority were male (66). The study found a significant moderate to very strong relationship to the MELD score between ACR, APRI, ALBI, ABR, LMR, WBC, sodium, and albumin. Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, ACR, De ritis, APRI, LMR, ALBI, ABR, sodium levels, and albumin have a moderate to very strong significant relationship to CTP score. ACR, De ritis, APRI, LMR, ALBI, ABR, WBC, sodium, and albumin levels with respective cut-offs £ 3.6; ≥ 1.5; ≥ 0.3; £ 2.8; ≥ 0.7; £1.6; ≥ 6.7, £ 136.50, and £ 3.0 can be used to help predict decompensated cirrhosisConclusionIn addition to using the CTP score and MELD score as a tool to predict the severity of liver cirrhosis, data from laboratory examination results in the form of albumin and ABR levels can help establish the diagnosis of decompensated cirrhosis. The sensitivity and specificity of ABR were 96.8% and 75.4% with a cut-off of £ 1.6, while albumin levels were 93.5% and 81.5% with an amount off of £ 3.0.

TEACHERS’ CONFLICT-INDUCING ATTITUDES AND THEIR REPERCUSSIONS ON STUDENTS’ PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH

This purpose of the study was to determine the influence of teachers conflict-inducing attitudes on the students psychological health. A total of 110 public elementary school teachers teaching in Tarragona District, Davao Oriental Division were identified through Tabachnick and Fidell (2007) calculation of sample size. The study utilized a descriptive-correlation design. Mean, Pearson r, and regression analysis were used as statistical tools of the study. Results revealed on the extent of teachers conflict inducing attitudes in terms of Teacher Incivility were sometimes evident, in terms of Teacher Discrimination was sometimes evident, in terms of University Resources was oftentimes evident. On the Students Psychological Health was always evident. Clearly, the findings inferred a strong significant relationship between teachers conflict-inducing attitudes and students psychological health. Based on the result of the analysis, the teachers conflict inducing attitudes domains namely: teacher incivility, teacher discrimination, and university resources significantly influences students psychological health by registering a p-value of less than.000 in the level of significance. Further, the result indicates that for every unit increase in the three domains of teachers conflict inducing attitudes predictors, the students psychological health will increase by 3.894 holding other factors constant. Conflict inducing attitudes significantly influenced students psychological health. Hence, this study recommends teachers should be encouraged professional development programs that target specific conflict-inducing attitudes, leading to personal growth and improved professional practice. Teachers should engage in training and workshops that help them develop stronger interpersonal skills and conflict resolution strategies. Influence of Advisory Services on the Growth of Women Entrepreneurship in Rubirizi District, Uganda

The participation of women in the economic development of many nations has been vital. Their role in the economy has been addressed in many international, regional and national development goals, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Consequently, many nations have initiated and supported entrepreneurial activities meant to uplift the status of women to move out of poverty (SDG1), attain gender parity(SDG 5) and reduce inequality (SDG10) in the economic possessions. In Uganda, this agenda is being implemented by Village Savings and Loan Association Services (VSLAs), among other initiatives. Despite these strategies, women in Uganda continue to languish in poverty. Most of their businesses collapse at infancy leaving many women economically hopeless more so in rural areas. This study therefore sought to assess the influence of advisory services on the growth of women entrepreneurship in Rubirizi District in Uganda. The study specifically sought to examine the extent to which advisory services influence growth of women entrepreneurship in Rubirizi District of Uganda. The study was anchored on a Resource Based Theory. The study adopted a quantitative approach while a descriptive research design was used to describe the respondents’ opinions numerically in statistical terms. The target population constituted 3720 participants from which a sample size of 361 was selected using Sloven formula. Primary data was collected using structured questionnaires framed on a Likert scale 1-5. Respondents were selected randomly using stratified and simple random sampling techniques. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics analysed the responses obtained from the research questions while inferential statistics showed the influence of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 significance level. The analysed data was displayed by use of suitable frequency distribution tables. The results showed that advisory services are statistically significant on growth of women entrepreneurship (t=9.118, P=.000, P<.05). The study concluded that there is a strong positive significant relationship between advisory services offered to women beneficiaries of VSLAs and growth of women entrepreneurship. CORRELATION AND PATH COEFFICIENT ANALYSIS RELATIONSHIPS IN SAFFLOWER (CARTHAMUS TINCTORIUS L.)

An experiment was conducted on 40 genotypes of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) at the Experimental Farm of College of Agriculture, Latur, to examine genetic diversity and connections among characteristics. In Rabi 2020–2021, the experimental design was a complete randomized block design with two replications. The presence of considerable genetic diversity in the experimental materials was confirmed by analysis of variance results for 10 quantitative characters, which showed significant differences for all traits. The phenotypic and genotypic correlation among the traits and their path analysis were calculated. Plant height, number of branches per plant, number of effective capitulum per plant, number of seed per capitulum, and test weight were found to have a strong positive significant relationship with seed yield. This character had a strong and positive relationship toward seed yield. As a result, these characteristics could be considered important for improving safflower seed yield. The character number of branches per plant, plant height, number of effective capsules per plant, number of seed per capitulum, and test weight showed higher direct positive effects and indirect effects through other components traits. Number of seeds per capitulum had the greatest direct positive effect on seed yield per plant, followed by number of branches per plant and number of capsules per plant. As a result, these characteristics must be considered because they are directly relevant to seed yield. Characters like as days to maturity and oil content showed negative direct effects.

Investigating the Influence of Project Initiation Management on Performance of Mega-dam Projects: Empirical Evidence from Kenya

Performance of large projects including mega-dams could be associated with strict adherence to project life cycle (PLC) phases while considering the risks such as displacement of people and natural ecosystem disturbance. Understanding these risks helps project managers and stakeholders make informed decisions thus creating a positive legacy for the project in the long run. The main objective of the research was to determine how project initiation management influences the performance of mega-dam projects in Kenya. This study was guided by positivist research philosophy. A descriptive cross-sectional survey research design was adopted. In this study, the unit of analysis was 18 mega-dam projects launched and completed across Kenya as listed under the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation (MoWSI) while the unit of observation was the respective three officials (project manager, project engineer, geospatial engineer) in the MoWSI. A Census of all mega-dams completed in Kenya was conducted. In addition, the study purposively interviewed 5 key stakeholders including the cabinet secretary, permanent secretary from the MWSI, donor, contractor, and one randomly selected beneficiary from the community with the target mega-dam. This formed a total sample size of 180 respondents. Primary data was collected using the semi-structured questionnaires as well as the Key Informant Interview (KII) guide. Quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources and perspectives provided a more comprehensive and robust understanding. Pretesting was done by way of pilot testing to ascertain the validity and reliability of the tools. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to summarize and describe the key characteristics of the data, as well as draw conclusions and make inferences. Correlation findings showed that project initiation management and performance of selected mega-dam projects in Kenya have a strong positive and significant relationship (r= 0.874, p<0.05). In addition, regression findings showed that one-unit rise in project initiation management corresponds to a 0.433 improvement in the performance of these mega-dam projects. Based on the findings, the study concluded that project initiation management positively and significantly influences the performance of selected mega-dam projects in Kenya. This study therefore recommends that project managers should give priority to project initiation management

Nexus between good governance and financial sustainability: evidence from microfinance sector of India

PurposeMicrofinance emerged as an essential catalyst for socio-economic development and financial inclusion to reduce poverty. Microfinance institutions cannot meet their primary objective of poverty reduction if they are not sustainable financially. With the theoretical support of profit incentive theory, this paper aims to investigate the impact of organizational structure (OS), growth outreach (average loan per borrower [ALPB] and number of active borrowers), women empowerment (percentage of women borrowers [PWB]), liquidity, leverage and cost efficiency (cost per borrower) on the financial sustainability of microfinance providers (MFPs) in India and explore the possible moderating effect of the national governance indicators (NGIs).Design/methodology/approachA financial sustainability index has been developed by using principal components analysis, including both conventional measures (return of assets and return on equity) and efficiency measures (operational self-sufficiency and financial self-sufficiency). Due to the existence of endogeneity and heteroskedasticity, this study uses two-step system generalized method of moments estimates to examine the relationships for a period of 2006 to 2018.FindingsThe finding reveals that there is a strong significant relationship between financial sustainability and its influential factors. Organizatioanl Structure, loan size, women borrowers, Gross Domestic Products and inflation enhance the financial sustainability of India’s microfinance sector. However, a number of borrowers, liquidity, leverage and operating costs negatively affect the financial sustainability of MFPs of India. The estimates demonstrate that NGIs significantly moderate the association between financial sustainability and its influential factors. The NGIs negatively affect the positive impact of Organizatioanl Structure on financial sustainability. National governance increases the positive effect of loan size (ALPB) and reduces the negative effect of a number of borrowers and leverage on the financial sustainability of MFPs of India. However, NGIs negatively affect the positive relationship between Percentage of Women Borrowers and Financial sustainability of Microfinance Providers of India.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first of its kind that incorporates all of the six dimensions of the National Governance Indicators (NGIs) and uses as a moderator. Secondly, a financial sustainability index has been developed for measuring the financial sustainability of Microfinance Providers (MFPs).

Usefulness and Ease of Use of E-Learning Towards the Effectiveness of Training and Development Programs for Civil Servants

The e-learning system is a digital technology in the world of education that is increasingly used nowadays at all academic levels, whether pedagogy or andragogy, which is now an approach used for teaching and learning electronically to deliver information through online training. The effectiveness of training and development programs in the context of this study depends on several factors in the use of e-learning. Thus the objective of this paper is to examine relationships and analyze the influence of e-learning that includes the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use on the effectiveness of training and development programs for civil servants. The next objective is to identify the difficulty factors of participants following online training. This study used a survey method through the online questionnaire that was distributed to 152 respondents at the Department of Information Malaysia through the Google Form platform. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model were used in this study. The results of the study show that all aspects of the use of e-learning studied have a strong positive significant relationship with the effectiveness of the training and development program. Through regression analysis proved that the use of e-learning contributes as much as 74.1% to the effectiveness of training and development programs. While technical issues and face-to-face communication gaps are the main factors that cause difficulty in attending online training.

Potential Relationship of Socio-Economic Status and Multiple Intelligences to the Academic Performance of the Students in Iligan City as Affected by Typhoon Washi

Socio-economic status of the parents might affect the academic performance of the students in some ways. As such, this study was conducted using interviews through survey questionnaires employed to selected schools in Iligan City. Findings of this study showed that multiple intelligence were determinant to academic performance of the students. Multiple intelligences and academic performance had strong significant relationship. However, socio-economic status alone did not have a significant relationship with academic performance.Hence, the stronger the intelligence was, the bigger the academic performance, in the same way that the weaker the multiple intelligence value, the academic performance was smaller. Therefore, the extent of multiple intelligence was directly related to academic performance or grades. A strong significant relationship was observed between socio-economic status and multiple intelligences. Hence, the higher the socioeconomic status that involved higher income and higher educational background of the parents, the higher the multiple intelligences scores. Therefore, multiple intelligences led to good academic performance, which must be duly instituted by the school constituents.

Parenting Approaches on Children Food Uptake and Nutrition Status in Kiambu County, Kenya

Parental use of reward and punishment is a key to reinforcement or deterrence of food choices among children an aspect that affects nutritional status throughout an individual’s life span. Kenya has a population of 47,564,296 people according to demographic survey of Kenya 2019, of whom 1.4 % are school-going children aged 6-years in Juja Sub-County of Kiambu, (Kenya National Beural of Statistics,2019). Cross-sectional analytical research design was adopted on 384 parent-child pairs, who were disproportionately sampled. Researcher-administered questionnaires were used to collect data. SРSS software version 26.0 was used to analyse the data with significance p<.05. Anthropometry data was analysed using WHO Anthro-Plus Survey Analyzer and compared to BMI-for-age (BAZ), weight-for-age (WAZ) and height-for-age (HAZ) Scores for the target population. Pearson’s correlation (r) was used to establish association. Boys were 48.0% while girls were 52.0% with a mean age of 6.4± 0.1. Almost half the index children (45.1%) were born first. Mean household size was 5.0± 1.66 with maternal mean age at 34± 4.9 years and that of the fathers at 39± 4.8 years. The majority of mothers (73.0%) and fathers (76.1%) had tertiary level of education with more fathers than the mothers in the formal sector of employment, with a higher income. All (100%) children reported being rewarded by receiving incentives like praise words (60.1%), while majority of them (92.0%) reported being punished in multiple ways by the mothers when they refused to feed yet a third of fathers (61.0%) praised and gifted their children to feed. Prevalence of stunting (6.9%), underweight (7.1%), wasting (7.2%), overweight (16.4%) and obesity (11.7%) was observed in the study population. A positive strong significant relationship (p=0.05, x2=5.2) between age of the mothers and punishment was noted, also shouting threats, grounding, inflicting pain & withdrawal of privileges (p=0.05, x2=9.6) was common among the married mothers. More parents with tertiary education (74.6%) and higher incomes (40.5%) gifted and gave special permissions which had a stronger positive relationship to food choices (p=0.06, x2=4.33) and nutritional status (p=0.04, x2=5.9). Food choices had a strong positive relationship to nutritional status (p=0.05) and so did dietary diversity (p=0.6). Majority of the parents reported that the demographic characteristics (83.8%) and Socio-economic characteristics (90.7%) affected their food choices as a household. Almost all mothers (98.8%) and more than half of the fathers (55.4%) felt that rewarding and punishing the study children in relation to food had an effect on their food choices and approaches

Analysis of the Current Status on Entrepreneurial Intentions among CrowdWorks Freelancers in Japan

Entrepreneurship is vital for economic growth in Japan. However, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report for 2022 reveals that Japan still lags behind in entrepreneurial intentions and attitudes. The purpose of this paper is to establish statistically the structural aspects of entrepreneurial intentions among Japanese social media freelancers by applying a social psychological approach, the Theory of Planned Behaviour. Furthermore, it aims to outline the framework and link it to future research activities. A total of 476 respondents were surveyed. While no significant differences in the variances of entrepreneurial intentions were found between platforms, three other factors showed significant distinctions when analysed for each variable. The mean score for perceived behavioural control stood at 2.213, aligning with the 2022 GEM report’s low rating. However, attitudes towards entrepreneurship (mean score 4.423) and entrepreneurial intentions (mean score 3.844) were moderate. Correlation analysis highlighted a strong positive and significant relationship between attitude and entrepreneurial intention, as well as positive and significant relationships between perceived behavioural control and entrepreneurial intention, and between subjective norm and entrepreneurial intention. Furthermore, path analysis using SPSS Amos indicated that perceived behavioural control may influence attitudes and subjective norms. Subsequent research should explore new variables in a broader sample, customised to participants’ cultural backgrounds.

Predictors of the Actual Final Grade in Mathematics Subject of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Students in Surabaya, Indonesia

This study tried to investigate what are the possible indicators of the performance of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Students taking Mathematics Standard Level in an international school in Surabaya. The research made use of secondary data gathered from the school such as the scores of the students and together with their profile. The data covered academic years 2014 – 2019. Other than the secondary data and information gathered from the administration office and curriculum coordinators, The researcher also gathered the progress scores of the students from their subject teachers, one of whom is yours truly. Descriptive-correlational research design was used to analyze the data. Data collected were analyzed and interpreted using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. One-way Analysis of Variance was also used to check if there is significant difference among mock exam score for Predicted Grade (PG), General Point Average (GPA) and final grades. Among the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents, only gender significantly related to the final grade. Both GPA and mock exam predicted grades indicated that both grades have strong significant relationship to the final external examination grades of the students.

Management Style and Employee Turnover in the Insurance Industry in Kenya

Purpose: To establish the influence of management style on employee turnover in the insurance industry in Kenya
 Methodology: The study applied descriptive explanatory research design. The target population was 404 senior staff drawn from 48 insurance companies in Kenya. The sample size for this study was 197 respondents determined using Krejcie and Morgan sample size determination formula. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 197 managers. The study collected both primary and secondary data where questionnaires were used to collect primary data. The study carried out both descriptive and inferential analyses. Results from analysed data were presented in tables.
 Results: The results obtained from correlation analysis revealed a negative significant correlation between management style on employee turnover in the insurance industry in Kenya at p<0.05. The findings show that management style and employee turnover in the insurance industry in Kenya had a strong negative and significant relationship (r= -0.574, p<0.05). The relationship was considered significant since the p-value (0.000) was less than the selected level of significance (0.05). The model summary results show that the R-squared is 0.733 which suggests that 73.3% of all variation in employee turnover in the insurance industry in Kenya are explained by changes in management style.
 Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: Maslow's (1943), hierarchy of needs theory used in this study may be used to anchor future studies on describing how employees' needs are placed into five progressive categories, beginning with basic physical needs and progressing up to needs for personal growth. The study recommends that the management of insurance companies should always involve staff in making organizations decisions and programs and ensures getting their approval in important matters before going ahead. According to the study, policy makers should formulate policies that will ensure that insurance companies embrace appropriate management styles.

Risk Response Planning and Project Implementation Among Faith-Based Construction Projects in The Diocese of Ngong

Projects are marred with various challenges and uncertainties from the onset of their inception to implementation and completion phases. These uncertainties if not mitigated properly affect subsequent delivery of project objectives thereby causing delays, cost overruns and sometimes may lead to project failures. Therefore, risk response planning are major features in project management that project managers, project teams and related stakeholders must effectively employ to deal with the risks and uncertainties that may interfere with the projects in order to realize the project success. This study therefore sought to analyze the effect of risk response planning on project implementation among faith-based organizations in Kenya. The study focused on the projects in the Catholic Diocese of Ngong. Contingency theories informed the foundation upon which the study variables were reviewed to establish their relationships. The study adopted a descriptive case design to analyze how risk management practices affect the implementation of projects in Catholic Diocese of Ngong. The target population involved 240 members that were drawn from the PPC and PEC. The sample size was 72 members whom were selected by simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques to give each member in the population a chance of selection and ensure that only those with relevant information are involved in the study. A structured questionnaire aided in gathering primary data for the study. The questionnaires were issued to the respondents through a drop and pick method and data collected were analyzed with the help of statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS) version 23. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive analysis while qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis and data presented in frequency tables, pie charts and graphs. The study found a strong significant positive relationship between risk response planning and project implementation.. The study recommended that organizations should formulate and put in place elaborate risk response plans to enable them succeed in their project implementation. The researcher further recommends for more studies to be conducted on risk response plans other than the ones the study concentrated as they only accounted for 57.8%.
