Children and Youth with Life-Limiting or Life-Threatening Conditions – Overview the Topics of Educational Practice: A Scoping Review

Objectives: The scoping review (ScoRev) presents the literature relating to the education of children and youth with life-limiting conditions (LLC) and life-threatening conditions (LTC) and identifies and describes the topics that appear in the literature. Method: The scoping review was conducted based on Arksey and O’Malley’s 5-stage ramework. In a total of five databases, ProQuest, ERIC, Web of Science, Scopus, and EBSCO Discovery Service a combination of keywords was used to identify 14 records published in 2002- 2018 that corresponded to the ScoRev selection criteria. These records were then analyzed in terms of content and classified into thematic ategories and subcategories. Results: The ScoRev selection consisted of a dissertation and thirteen journal articles. A well-elaborated topic of the studies related to the teacher’s roles, experiences, and needs in the education of a child with LLC or LTC. Other topics included the challenges in the education of these children, intervention, or eath of a child in school. The topic of education of students with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions is most frequently assessed from the teacher’s perspective. Conclusion: The results of the ScoRev may suggest a lack of available resources that would reflect the current practice of educating children and youth with LLC and/or LTC n a general basis.

Connecting the building blocks of Open Science: an ecological approach

Open Science covers a large panel of activities aimed at making research more transparent and collaborative. Several definitions provide lists of different components of open science, which creates the need to imagine how to connect these components together. However, the necessary work to interconnect open science services and tools must be completed by a holistic approach that considers open science as an ecosystem producing a “milieu” of knowledge and supported by a vibrant community gathered around shared values. It leads to an ecological approach of open science where the web of interactions within the ecosystem defines its elements rather than the opposite.

The republican library for science and technology in the service of science and production of Belarus. Traditions and new departure of activities

The purpose of the article is to reveal the functional features of the Republican Library for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus as the main information structure ensuring the innovative activity of the country. In the modern conditions, the successful development of science and technology is one of the factors of national security. Achievement of the set government tasks is impossible without systematic analytical study of patents, scientific and technical literature, as well as technical normative legal acts. The necessary information base has been established in Belarus, which is located in the Republican Library for Science and Technology, which is the largest center of information on science and technology and the only one of the republican libraries of Belarus with its regional structure. Regional scientific and technical libraries operate as branches in each of the region centers. In each regional center there work, statured as branches, regional libraries for scientific and technical literature, which provide equal access to library resources for users from different parts of the country. One of the main tasks of RLST and its regional branches is library and information-bibliographic servicing enterprises, organizations and institutions of the republic – their collective subscribers. Since its establishment and for 45 years of its history, RLST has been providing information support for the scientific and technical sphere of Belarus, being the state repository of patents, the depository of technical normative legal acts and other documents in the field of standardization, industrial catalogs, scientific and technical publications, providing access to national and international resources, actively using electronic services in its work. The article briefly describes the contribution of RLST staff to the study of the history of invention in Belarus. Examples of resources created on the basis of case studies are given. Working with children and youth to increase their interest in scientific and technological activities and to promote the ideas of sustainable development in Belarus is one of the new vectors of RLST educational work.

Subsidies as a measure to increase factor productivity in agriculture of Russia

The study attempts to explain the dependence of agricultural development indicators on subsidies and other factors in Russia in 2012–2020. Based on the author's methodology, the survey evaluates the economic efficiency of subsidies in Russia’s agriculture, develops and justifies the measures to improve the support system aimed at increasing total factor productivity (TFP). The object of the study is agricultural subsidy system. The subject of the research is the influence of subsidies on TFP in agriculture. The panel models with fixed effects do not reveal an impact of subsidies on TFP. The 1st lag of the logarithm of subsidies negatively affects the dynamics of labor productivity, and shows no relationship between current year subsidies and labor productivity. Labor productivity in agriculture in Russia grows in 2019– 2020 as a result of higher gross output and, to a lesser extent, of lower employment. Capital productivity increases mainly due to gross output growth. Support measures for general services (development of infrastructure, science, extension, phytosanitary and veterinary services) should be the most important components of increasing the efficiency of agricultural subsidies. These components in agricultural subsidies are of high priority for the environmental situation in rural areas and the state of human capital.

Examining the Location Characteristics of Knowledge Industrial Space for Smart Planning and Industry 4.0: A Case Study of Hangzhou, China

In the era of Industry 4.0, the knowledge economy is reshaping the global economic structure, which makes the research on the layout of knowledge industries particularly important. This study, using Hangzhou in China as a case, constructs an index system from two dimensions (i.e., business and living amenities), and compares three typical representative knowledge industries. The nearest neighbor index, kernel density, and stepwise regression model were adopted. Results revealed that: (1) The spatial agglomeration intensity of knowledge industries is varied in different classes, with the financial industry being the most agglomerated, scientific research technology service industry the second, and smart manufacturing industry the least agglomerated. (2) The spatial distribution of knowledge industries is agglomerated in the shape of “#”, which is in line with the urban skeleton. (3) For the distribution of the financial industry, parking lots and cafés are strong influencing factors. The scientific research technology service industry locates closer to sports and fitness amenities, colleges and universities, and parks, while the smart manufacturing industry has a strong connection with snacking spots, fast food, and scientific research institutions. The results can provide a decision-making basis for the micro-location selection of urban knowledge industries and the adjustment of future industrial planning in the intelligent era.

Harnessing the Power of Communication and Behavior Science to Enhance Society's Response to Climate Change

A science-based understanding of climate change and potential mitigation and adaptation options can provide decision makers with important guidance in making decisions about how best to respond to the many challenges inherent in climate change. In this review we provide an evidence-based heuristic for guiding efforts to share science-based information about climate change with decision makers and the public at large. Well-informed decision makers are likely to make better decisions, but for a range of reasons, their inclinations to act on their decisions are not always realized into effective actions. We therefore also provide a second evidence-based heuristic for helping people and organizations change their climate change–relevant behaviors, should they decide to. These two guiding heuristics can help scientists and others harness the power of communication and behavior science in service of enhancing society's response to climate change. ▪ Many Earth scientists seeking to contribute to the climate science translation process feel frustrated by the inadequacy of the societal response. ▪ Here we summarize the social science literature by offering two guiding principles to guide communication and behavior change efforts. ▪ To improve public understanding, we recommend simple, clear messages, repeated often, by a variety of trusted and caring messengers. ▪ To encourage uptake of useful behaviors, we recommend making the behaviors easy, fun, and popular.

Open Science-friendly national R&D knowledge and information infrastructure

This paper outlines the functionality of the South Korea’s National Science and Technology Information Service (NTIS), maintained by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI). NTIS is a “one-stop shop” portal federating information on national R&D projects from multiple databases and metadata aggregators, including links to downloadable Open Access outputs and raw data. Among other functions, it provides a range of services based on R&D information analysis to facilitate open collaboration and knowledge co-development (e.g., providing network maps visualising collaboration among researchers and research institutes based on the field of research interest). In addition, some challenges associated with NTIS are outlined, including a lack of explicit Open Science mandates in national legislation and policies. We also suggest some opportunities for further development of the NTIS platform so that it can better support Open Science. These include, for example, alternative research impact metrics and a virtual laboratory service to be embedded into the NTIS functionality. Insights offered in this paper regarding the Korean experience of building an Open Science infrastructure could be useful to anyone planning to establish an R&D knowledge and information infrastructure, including various Open Science building blocks, in other contexts and countries.

The purpose of the study is to identify the degree of production induction effects and industrial synergy effects of the last mile delivery service industry. It also connects the industrial linkage structure of the last mile delivery industry with the concept of the supply chain. Ultimately, it identifies the structure of the service supply chain centered on the last mile delivery. It approaches research problems from a service science perspective. The philosophical basis of the study is the concept of service dominant logic. In addition, the research methodology is an inter-industry analysis of economics, and WIOD is used for analysis data. Petroleum product manufacturing and warehousing are the backward industries of the last mile delivery industry. And it seems clear that wholesale and retail industry are forward industries. Therefore, the last mile delivery industry plays a role in connecting the relationship between the supply industry, the manufacturing industry, and the distribution industry on the supply chain. In addition, the supply chain architecture of the last mile delivery service is significantly different from the existing manufacturing-oriented supply chain structure. Academically, the concept of a traditional manufacturing-oriented supply chain has been expanded to the service sector. And it identified the supply chain structure of the last mile delivery service. In practice, if a strategic industry is selected with limited resources, it will be an important indicator for determining investment priorities.

The Low-Skilled Immigrants’ Integration Process: a Mathematical Analysis

Abstract In this manuscript, the authors analyze the problem of integrating the low-skilled immigrants by adopting both a quantitative methodology and the marketing perspective. More precisely, they propose a mathematical model aiming at describing the economic consequences of this phenomenon and, after that, try to frame it through the Service Science (SS), the Service Dominant Logic (SDL) and the Viably System approach (VSa). The authors point out actors, steps and outcome of an effective integration process. Their results are particularly useful for policy makers and experts in the field of migration flows management and integration. JEL classification numbers: C02; C61; E02. Empowering digital creative ecosystem using problem structuring method and a service science perspective: A case study in Cimahi and Bandung, Indonesia

The digital creative economy in Indonesia has the potential to grow rapidly due to its large and skilled population. Although a goal was set in 2016 to make Indonesia the largest digital economy in ASEAN by 2020, the complexity of stakeholder interactions has become a major obstacle. Fostering a healthy business ecosystem and collaboration among stakeholders has been difficult to achieve due to a lack of funding, talent, and trust. This paper developed “should-be” and “as-is” models of feasible action plans to enhance value co-creation interactions among stakeholders. We investigated how stakeholders perceive their roles and interactions to construct an “as-is” model using a soft operational research method, namely strategic options development and analysis (SODA). Next, we developed a “should-be” model from a service science perspective. By comparing the two models, we derived action plans and recommendations to guide stakeholders in creating digital creative ecosystems (DCEs) in Indonesia. The action plans have been implemented by the government to improve the current strategies and validate our approach.

A perspective on computational research support programs in the library: More than 20 years of data from Stanford University Libraries

Presentation of data is a major component to academic research. However, programming languages, computational tools, and methods for exploring and analyzing data can be time consuming and frustrating to learn and finding help with these stages of the broader research process can be daunting. In this work, we highlight the impacts that computational research support programs housed in library contexts can have for fulfilling gaps in student, staff, and faculty research needs. The archival history of one such organization, Software and Services for Data Science (SSDS) in the Stanford University Cecil H. Green Library, is used to outline challenges faced by social sciences and humanities researchers from the 1980s to the present day. To compliment this history, participation metrics from consulting services (1999–2021) and workshops (2000–2021) are presented along with updated workshop participant feedback forms ( n = 99) and further illustrate the profound impacts that these services can have for helping researchers succeed. Consulting and workshop metrics indicate that SSDS has supported at least 27,031 researchers between 1999 and 2021 (average of more than 1175 per year). A t-test on the feedback form data indicates that participant knowledge in workshops statistically significantly increased more than one scale point from workshop start to completion. Results also indicate that despite our successes, many past challenges continue to present barriers regardless of exponential advances in computing, teaching, and learning—specifically around learning to access data and learning the software and tools to use it. We hope that our story helps other institutions understand how indispensable computational research support is within the library.

The Relationship Between Spiritual Health and Job Stress of Nurses in Selected Teaching Hospitals in Yazd in 2020

Background: Job stress greatly affects the physical and mental health of nurses. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between spiritual health and job stress among nurses working in selected hospitals of Yazd University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in 2020.
 Methods: This was a cross-sectional and correlational study conducted in 2020 in Rahnemoun and Shahid Sadoughi hospitals in Yazd. The sample size was 203 nurses selected through random cluster sampling. Data were collected using the Pulotzin Wallison Spiritual Health questionnaire and the Tuft and Anderson Job Stress Questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Spearman, Mann-Whitney, and Kruskal-Wallis correlation coefficient by SPSS24.
 Results: The mean of nurses' job stress was (109.17 ± 28.66) and the mean of spiritual health was (92.58 ± 14.80). The relationship between job stress and spiritual health was statistically significant and negative (P-value < 0.001). There was a statistically significant relationship between spiritual health and marital status(P-value = 0.0002), age groups(P-value = 0.013), work group(P-value = 0.003)s and employment status (P-value < 0.001); and between job stress and gender (P-value < 0.001), marital status (P-value < 0.001), age groups (P-value < 0.001), work experience(P-value < 0.001) and employment status (P-value < 0.001).
 Conclusion: In order to improve spiritual health, experts advise managers and supervisors to hold classes and seminars related to the positive effects of spiritual health regarding physical and mental health. Consequently, their job performance will improve.

Designing a shared freight service intelligence platform for transport stakeholders using mobile telematics

Internet of Things (IoT) technology transforms freight transport operations by adopting novel data-driven services and enables information sharing among actors involved in global transport chains. Mobile telematics represents emerging IoT technologies for global forwarding increasingly applied to full loads conveyed by freight transport assets (FTAs) (e.g., ISO containers) facilitating intelligent services. In this light, telematics-enabled FTAs support freight transport operations utilized by individual stakeholders in three overarching service dimensions: transport management, fleet management, and risk management. This topic is, however, understudied by information systems (IS) research and service science. For this reason, we establish a design science research project, conceptualize a shared Freight Service Intelligence Platform (FSIP), and introduce freight service intelligence as an interdisciplinary research field. To this aim, we first review related literature, interview 14 transport stakeholders, and theorize six meta-requirements. Second, we propose five design principles that indicate how the meta-requirements may be associated. Third, we develop a web-based prototype application to instantiate the proposed design principles comprising performance analytics, anomaly detection, risk assessment including prediction, data exchange, communication, and IS integration. Subsequently, we evaluate the application with six transport stakeholders and logistics software vendors. Finally, we conclude with a discussion on the implications of an emerging topic addressed by this paper.

Open Science in an open cloud

European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is an European wide initiative that aims to develop a ‘Web of FAIR Data and Services’ for science in Europe that will provide researchers, students, companies and citizens with a federated and open multi-disciplinary environment where they can collaborate, share and reuse data, tools and services. EOSC Portal Catalogue and Marketplace is an entry point which improves the findability and accessibility of the scientific resources, their curation, support and training activities.In order to empower local stakeholders (researchers, policy makers, research performing organisations, etc.), NI4OS-Europe project (National Initiatives for Open Science in Europe) provides technical support for onboarding, i.e. making scientific web services compliant with the NI4OS/EOSC requirements and inclusion in catalogues. At the same time, as open science cloud initiatives emerge across the EU landscape, in the terms of infrastructure and policy development, it also supports building the Croatian Open Science Cloud (abbrev. locally HR-OOZ) Initiative. HR-OOZ is gathering prominent national institutions with an active role regarding open science covering all important stakeholder groups: research performing organisations (RPO), research funding organisations, research supporting organisations and policy makers. The Initiative aims to build a modern, high-quality, internationally relevant, and competitive science system based on the principles of open science, which is harmonised and connected with the European Research Area and relevant European initiatives. The Initiative has two main goals. The first goal is to set up the HR-OOZ which includes tasks of defining its organisational structure, defining the technological principles of services that will make the HR-OOZ, and ensuring its sustainability. The second goal of the Initiative is to draft the proposal of the National Action Plan for Open Science and propose changes to the law governing scientific activities.We will present the interconnections between national and European initiatives and how they complement each other as well as the proposed mechanisms for incentivizing and rewarding OS practices which are the vital components of the whole OS ecosystem.

Development of medicine in Lwów (Lemberg, Lviv) : Part 2. Establishment of Ukrainian university urology after 1944

The beginnings of medicine and Polish urology in Lemberg (Lviv) were described in part 1 of the previous publication. The aim of this article is to show the further development of Ukrainian urology after World WarII. The authors also present the leading Ukrainian urologists of the postwar period. In 1976 Professor CesarK. Borzhyievsky became the head of the department of urology, which had been officially established as an independent unit. During the last 31years of the free Ukraine (from December 1991) there have been profound sociopolitical changes in Eastern Europe, which formed the basis for a rapid and revolutionary modernization of medicine and increased cooperation with western urologists. This is the path that Ukrainian urologists have followed. In the course of time it has driven developments in scientific research, education and public service to the point where the clinic can compete with the best international urology clinics. For the preparation of this study extensive research was carried out to collect literature and documents in Polish, German and Ukrainian archives and libraries. Personal contacts and reports from numerous Ukrainian urologists were helpful. Unfortunately, the current state of urology in Lemberg of today is limited by the war and the lack of personal contacts.

Text-mining analysis using national R&D project data of South Korea to investigate innovation in graphene environment technology

This study investigates the possibilities offered by the development of graphene environment technology that can contribute to new and effective approaches for the transition to an ecologically benign ecosystem. To analyze the research and development progress in graphene environment technology, graphene environment technology research trends of South Korea for the years 2009–2020 are investigated by acquiring information pertaining to national research and development projects related to graphene environment technology from the National Science and Technology Information Service. Both structured and unstructured data are analyzed using diverse text-mining methods, such as keyword frequency analysis, association rule mining, and topic modelling. The results indicate that graphene research in South Korea is focused primarily on graphene use in batteries and energy-storage devices, such as solar cells, fuel cells, and secondary batteries. This study can help understand the manner by which the South Korean government has been investing in the research and development of graphene environment technology; additionally, it discusses the future applications and prospects of graphene for the next decade.
