An important problem we need to face in schools: Inflated grades and grade inflation

AbstractIn today's schools, students can be given high grades in examinations and class performance. High grades can lead to the problem of inflated grades. Inflated grades can lead to grade inflation. The subject of this study is to investigate the existence of high grades in primary school, secondary school and high school. The main purpose of the research is to reveal the existence, causes and consequences of high grades. The study group consists of teachers (n = 203) working in primary, secondary and high school educational institutions in Van. Case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. According to the research results, the majority of teachers point out that inflated grades are given to cover up failures. According to the participants in this research, there is a problem of inflated grades at all levels of education. Likewise, inflated grades are common in both public and private schools.

Environmental culture in primary basic students and teachers: characterization in educational institutions of Santa Marta (Magdalena, Northern Colombia)

The environmental culture in students and teachers of primary school educational institutions in the municipality of Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia was characterized. The study presents a descriptive analytical field approach, with a non-experimental design. The population was made up of 450 students and 15 teachers, from three primary educational institutions in the municipality of Santa Marta, Magdalena, Northern Colombia. Likewise, to collect the information, a questionnaire was used aimed at the students with two dichotomous response alternatives (yes-no), and another with scale-type multiple alternative responses. Teachers do not always lead the student to carry out research regarding the environment; the strategies applied are sometimes planned without taking into account the importance of generating environmental values in the student and a positive change in environmental behavior. Strategies must be established in the classroom that force students to carry out research processes in each of the tasks assigned by the teacher.

The relationship of migration behavior with marital status and the number of children in the family

Based on the analysis of the database of the 30th round of the Russian Monitoring of the Economic Situation and Health of the Population (Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey – HSE) study in 2021, the relationship between marital status and the children number of men and women in reproductive age with their migration behavior is studied. Migrants are less likely to remain single and childless, but more likely to have three or more children than local natives. These differences are explained, so the author, by the fact that people who have independently changed their place of residence differ from people who live where they were born, more willing to face difficulties related both to living conditions adapting in a new place, and to creating, increasing and maintaining a family. The differences between migrants and natives are greater among men than women. In addition, data from a survey of both spouses in more than 1,200 families conducted by the Department of Family Sociology and Demography of the Faculty of Sociology of Lomonosov Moscow State University 2018–2019 study show that men whose parents had more than two children are much more likely to have three or more children themselves than women who grew up in the families of the same size. Therefore, demographic policy measures should be applied to increase the birth rate what can affect not only mothers, but fathers as well. It is necessary to take into account the data of sociological studies on the conditions necessary for the birth of children, according to both spouses, and not only women. Schools and other educational institutions should form an active life position among children, adolescents and young people, the ability to overcome difficulties, including those in family life necessary for the society to survive and develop.

Pelatihan Pembuatan Terarium Sebagai Produk kewirausahaan Bagi Siswa SMA Negeri 1 Sindang Danau Kabupaten Oku Selatan

Formal school education institutions, one of which is Senior High School (SMA/SMK/MA) both public and private, which is in the process of achieving success in the teaching and learning process, are currently starting to implement entrepreneurship programs for students, especially since the Covid pandemic -19 hit. South Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKUS) is one of the districts in the province of South Sumatra, administratively located on the Sumatran highway so that the development of this district continues to progress. Various educational institutions both private and public, including SMAN 1 Sindang Danau. This PkM program aims to provide information for students and teachers in making terrariums as entrepreneurship learning based on science lessons. The activity was carried out on October 20 2022 at SMAN 1 Sindang Danau, OKU Selatan Regency. The implementation method is done by direct simulation. The results achieved by students of SMAN 1 Sindang Danau can apply terrarium making techniques as an application of science learning.

Audio Visual Material for Safety Briefing Learning for Students in School Laboratories

This study aims to explore the perceptions of students and teachers regarding the effectiveness of audio-visual teaching materials in enhancing the understanding of occupational health and safety in school laboratories. The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing descriptive methods to gather and analyze data. The research was carried out at Al-Ittihad Cianjur Vocational School, a technical and vocational education institution. The informants for this research were the Head of the Laboratory Program, the Person in Charge of the Laboratory, the School Principal, 7 teachers who taught in the laboratory, and 100 students. Data were collected through various techniques, including observations, document analysis, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs). To determine the level of reliability or trustworthiness of data, this research uses credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The data analysis technique uses qualitative data which includes stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research results concluded that the provision of audio-visual teaching materials in the form of videos was very good and had a positive impact on learning. The students have quite good attitudes when carrying out learning activities, especially regarding their work safety in the laboratory. These findings also provide awareness about the importance of increasing digital competence so that teachers can be more creative and innovative in creating learning resources.

Environmental Didactic in a Primary Basic Educational Community: Analysis of Pedagogical Strategies in Santa Marta (Colombian Caribbean)

Objetive: The aim was to define the environmental teaching that students and teachers develop in the design of pedagogical strategies in primary school educational institutions in the municipality of Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia. Methodology: The study presents a descriptive analytical field approach, with a non-experimental design. The population was made up of 450 students and 15 teachers, from three primary educational institutions in the municipality of Santa Marta, Magdalena, Northern Co-lombia. Likewise, to collect the information, a questionnaire was used aimed at the students with two dichotomous response alternatives (yes-no), and another with scale-type multiple alternative responses. Result: Teachers establish practical activities and various methods that help students in the teaching process in a comprehensive manner towards environmental education, a situation that does not guarantee learning to improve the school environment. Conclusion: The motivation model used by teachers towards students is aimed at offering a reward when students carry out an activity related to environmental education.

Leadership Styles that generate Risk Factors in teaching work: High School Education

Introduction: Psychosocial Risk Factors (PRF) in the workplace are a current topic that is visible in any type of organization, and the causes that originate them are diverse. Objective: The purpose of the present study is to demonstrate the correlation between certain leadership styles and the generation of Psychosocial Risk Factors in teaching work at a public high school educational institution located in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, México. Method: The research approach is quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, with a descriptive-correlational scope. For the collection of information, a self-developed instrument with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.865 was used, applied to a random sample of50 teachers. Results: The findings reveal a statistically significant correlation between permissive and bureaucratic administrative styles and teacher harassment in three of its dimensions: physical, psychological, and economic aggression, the last two being the most recurrent. Conclusion: Leadership styles or administrative styles have a transcendent influence, affecting the physical and psychological health of the recipient.

Human Resources Management in High School Educational Institutions Muhammadiyyah Al Kautsar PK Kartasura

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apa saja manajemen SDM yang ada di SMA Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK Kartasura. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis interaktif yang menggambarkan berdasarkan fakta di lapangan dan informasi dari narasumber yang akan digunakan sebagai data. Teknik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data oleh peneliti adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK Kartasura. Subjek penelitian ini adalah Kepala HRD SMA Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK Kartasura. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di SMA Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK Kartasura dilakukan beberapa upaya diantaranya (1) Rekrutmen dan seleksi tenaga pendidik dan kependidikan dilaksanakan dengan seleksi administrasi, micro teaching, dan interview. (2) Untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan tenaga pendidik dilakukan pelatihan minimal satu kali tiap semester. (3) Besaran gaji bagi tenaga pendidik bervariasi berdasarkan lama waktu mengajar. (4) Tenaga pendidik telah terlindungi asuransi dan terdapat dana pensiun. (5) Pemberhentian dilakukan secara bertahap dengan SP 1 berupa teguran, SP 2 dan SP 3 dengan teguran dan pemotongan gaji, dan terakhir SP 4 berupa pemindahan atau pemberhentian.

Balanced clustering for student admission school zoning by parameter tuning of constrained k-means

The Indonesian government issued a regulation through the Ministry of Education and Culture, number 51 of 2018, which contains zoning rules to improve the quality of education in school educational institutions. This research aims to compare the performance of the k-means algorithm with the constrained k-means algorithm to model the zoning of each school area based on the shortest distance parameter between the school location and the domicile of prospective students. The study used data from 2248 prospective students and 22 public school locations. The results of testing the k-means algorithm in grouping showed the formation of non-circular patterns in the cluster membership with different numbers of centroid cluster members. In contrast, testing the constrained k-means algorithm showed balanced outcomes in cluster membership with a membership value of 103 for each school as the cluster center. The research findings state that the developed constrained k-means algorithm solves the problem of unbalanced data clustering and overlapping issues in the process of new student admissions. In other words, the constrained k-means algorithm can be a reference for the government in making decisions on new student admissions

Social policy for the development of educational inclusion in Ukrainian schools: a pedagogical analysis

The main purpose of the article is to formulate an effective policy for the development of inclusiveness in education. For this purpose, the object of research will be school educational institutions in Ukraine. The scientific task will include modeling the most significant educational factors influencing the formation of modern social policy for the development of inclusiveness in school institutions. The research methodology involves the use of graph theory and the connection graph method to identify the most significant impact factors. As a result of the analysis, the two most significant factors influencing the formation of modern social policy for the development of inclusiveness in school institutions were identified. Based on this, the key principles for the formation of modern social policy for the development of inclusiveness in school institutions were presented. The study has a limitation by not taking into account other educational institutions, only schools. Further research should be devoted to exploring the formation of social policies for the development of inclusiveness in universities.

Innovation Capacity in the Management System of Islamic Boarding School Education Institutions : Quality Test of Instruments through Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis

This study aims to test the validity and reliability of instruments measuring the variable of innovation capacity in the management system of Islamic boarding school education institutions in Jambi City. This research method employed a cross-sectional survey design with a quantitative approach. The sample size for this study consisted of 162 teachers (Ustad/Ustadzah) in Islamic boarding school education institutions. Quantitative data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using SPSS 23 and AMOS 18. The results of this study indicated that EFA identified five factor structures to construct the dimensions of Innovation Capacity (IC), namely Opportunity Exploration (OE), Idea Sustainability (IS), Idea Introduction (II), Idea Emergence (IE), and Idea Realization (IR). Meanwhile, these findings were verified and confirmed by CFA regarding the factorial validity analysis of the Innovation Capacity dimension from the EFA testing results. This study suggests that future innovation capacity instruments require further adjustment to enhance the level of reliability and the ability to explain differences related to the measured constructs within different contexts, cultures, and conditions.

METHODS OF EDUCATION OF STUDENTS' SPEECH CULTURE

The article presents ideas about teaching methods, ideas, recommendations on the methodology for the development of written and oral speech of students in the Kyrgyz literature lesson. In our proposed school, exams on methods of adapting students to speech and writing activities were conducted in experimental classes. Using the example of Kyrgyz literature lessons in grades 5-8, the principles and means of applying the methods are described. Currently, there is a need to actively use our state language, especially office work, but there is reason to believe that some representatives of our nation do not speak the Kyrgyz language well, are able to make sentences and write competently. One of the reasons for illiteracy in the field of speech culture and writing is that a child from an early age in the family, kindergarten, school, secondary and higher educational institutions receives little influence on the rich language of folk tales, songs, dastans, including the national epic “Manas".

The Meaning of Sincerity in Transformational Leadership at The Islamic Boarding School Educational Institution


 
 
 
 Sincerity is defined as hope only in Allah SWT. A leader can find the meaning of his members' sincerity so that they have better work enthusiasm. The purpose of this research is to determine transformational leadership behavior that interprets the sincerity of its members and the form of meaning of sincerity in transformational leadership that can realize innovation in Islamic boarding school educational institutions. This research approach uses phenomenology. Data collection used triangulation methods, namely observation and interviews. Data validity techniques are carried out using triangulation methods, member checking, and auditing. The results of this research found that the meaning of Ikhlas in transformational leadership is that sincerity is analogous to the spirit while charity is the body so that Ikhlas can create a conducive climate and can develop creativity and innovation in Islamic boarding school educational institutions.
 
 
 

Empowering Diversity: A Multicultural Approach to Inclusive Islamic Education

This study aims to analyze the learning model in multicultural-based inclusive Islamic education conducted at the State High School Education institution 1 Sumber Sumber District, Probolinggo. This research method is a qualitative research type case study. The informants in this study were three people: school principals, PAI teachers, and curriculum waka. The results of this study show that the learning model in multicultural-based inclusive Islamic education applies first the Islamic Education Curriculum with an Inclusive-Multicultural Vision to internalize the learning model in the implementation of multicultural education so that awareness is born to maintain community cohesiveness while honing self, social, and cultural wisdom, none other than the formal learning process at each level of education. Second, the Epistemological Transformation Paradigm of National Education can be applied to the principles of national education implementation. Based on the study's results, several implications can be made for improvement in education. These results and research will likely improve how learning models can be designed and implemented effectively in multicultural-based, inclusive Islamic education.

Collaborative self-study in higher education: lessons from redesigning school placement during the pandemic

ABSTRACT This paper explores how a collaborative self-study of teacher educators in the Republic of Ireland supported pre-service and practising teachers on teacher education programmes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teacher educators engaged in student feedback meetings conducted online as a replacement to traditional in-school visits, some of which were supported by observation of lesson recordings viewed prior to the sessions. Teacher educators engaged in critical reflection on these feedback meetings individually, guided by a critical incident template, before reflecting collaboratively with colleagues. The redesign of online placement encouraged interrogation of practices among teacher educators and led them to a greater understanding of their practice. Actions that enhanced student learning in relation to placement included adopting a student partnership approach, peer teaching using asynchronous lessons, lesson recordings and adjusting the timing of feedback. This study falls into the broader Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and adds to the body of research exploring the innovative responses and adaptations of teacher education programmes worldwide to school and Higher Education Institution closures during the pandemic. More specifically, this study offers alternative approaches to on-site school placement.

PENGARUH KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH TERHADAP KINERJA GURU SMK SWASTA KRISTEN BNKP DARO-DARO LAHUSA BALAEKHA

Teacher development efforts are heavily influenced by school principals. If school principals can exercise supervision and control and coordinate educational resources, teachers' performance levels will improve. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the principal's leadership on the performance of BNKP Darodaro Baraekha Christian Private Vocational School. This type of research is descriptive and based on a quantitative approach. The research instrument was a questionnaire and the population and research sample consisted of her 38 teachers of BNKP Daro-daro Balaekha Christian Pocational School. Research shows that principal leadership influences teacher performance. Conclusion: As a leader, the principal is tasked with mobilizing all available resources within the school. The good performance of teachers in schools mainly depends on the ability of school principals to influence the behavior of teachers in carrying out their duties. Recommendations 1) School principals should strengthen their role as leaders in school educational institutions and improve the quality of their leadership, including providing continuous motivation to teachers. This motivation can be achieved by implementing a reward system for teachers who perform well. This helps improve teacher performance. 2) Teachers should increase their responsibility in carrying out their duties, follow the rules set by the principal as a leader, constantly discuss learning with the principal, and receive opinions and constructive criticism from the principal. We need to emulate the attitude. Always follow the principal's instructions for the student's progress.

KEMITRAAN PRODI DKV DAN SEKOLAH UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KOMUNIKASI VISUAL DALAM MENCIPTAKAN BAHAN AJAR

Collaboration between the Visual Communication Design Study Program (DKV) and school educational institutions has become an interesting subject. This collaboration was carried out in an effort to improve the quality of teaching materials through improving visual communication. This research aims to explore and analyze collaboration between the DKV Study Program and schools in creating teaching materials that are more visually effective. This research method uses a qualitative method using a library research approach. The research results show the form of method steps in the collaboration process between the Visual Communication Design Study Program and schools. Then create a process flow in the collaborative activities that will be carried out later. Joint involvement in this development creates teaching materials, collaborative workshops and training for teachers on understanding visual design principles with learning needs in the school environment. This research campaigns for the importance of cross-sector collaboration in education to improve visual communication. An important implication of these results is the potential to have a better understanding of the process of developing more visually effective teaching materials through collaboration between DKV and schools, as well as providing a basis for further program development in improving the quality of education.

Centre of mass of standard weights: another experiment with Lego and Tracker

Determine the centre of mass (CM) of standard weights is needed when two weights with different heights are compared. However, reproducing related experiments is difficult for high school or higher education institutions with non-expensive instrumentation or low budgets to construct specialised devices. This work addresses that problem in a two-way approach: dynamic video-based analysis and making a low-cost static device with Lego bricks. Published scientific papers support both methods. The experimental results of the video-based procedure were used to fit a polynomial regression model to find the CM location. On the other hand, the Lego device approach gives the ubication of the CM directly. Both methods were compared against geometric formulae publicly available to locate the CM of standard weights. The whole three stages project could be used in a senior high school or undergraduate physics course to teach about the comparison and compatibility of methods in experimental physics.

Unlocking Opportunities: Learning Beyond Experience Trough Benchmarking from UMT to UAD

AbstractBenchmarking is an activity in education that is carried out to compare various aspects of two or more institutions within an educational institution, be it a school, university or other educational institution. The activity was carried out by a group of students from Muhammadiyah University, Tangerang, and Ahmad Dahlan University, Yogyakarta. In this comparative study activity, students took part in a workshop with the theme "Building a Relationship and Giving Experience for Each Other to Improve English Skill Performance". Using the observation method, the researcher explains the social and cultural in Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is a popular tourist destination and university town, which leads to a wide range of linguistic and cultural variances brought about by the city's large immigrant and visitor populations. Both locals and visitors respect each other's culture and the way the people of Yogyakarta are cultured, despite the stark disparities in language, ethnicity, and customs.Keywords: Socio-cultural, facilities, benchmarking.

Peran Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah dalam Lembaga Pendidikan Islam di MTs Al-Jihad Medan

The purpose of this research is to explain the leadership of the school principal at MTs Al-Jihad Medan. The method used in this research is descriptive research using qualitative data obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. The results found that leadership and education are two different things. Leadership itself means a main object that has an influence on other objects, while education is an effort to create a learning atmosphere and learning process so that students can absorb or acquire something new, whether it be knowledge or experience. In this opportunity, the researcher will discuss leadership in the integrated Islamic school education institution. In the Islamic education institution at Mts Al Jihad Medan, leadership plays an important role and has a great responsibility as the main driver and motivator for the organization it leads. In its leadership system, it must have its own role to facilitate the movement of leadership and also to facilitate the achievement of the leadership's vision and mission. Leadership will be considered successful if its leadership is directed according to the initial goals of the organization. So, both leadership and education are important and interesting things to discuss comprehensively, so that we can also have the attitude and knowledge of a leader, especially in the world of education.
