SUBJECTIVE POSITION OF STUDENT YOUTH: CONCEPT AND CONNECTION WITH ECONOMIC SOCIALIZATION

The article presents a comprehensive understanding of the subjective position of student youth, its role in professional education, and its significance for economic socialization, which opens up new perspectives for further development of theoretical and practical approaches in the fields of education and social psychology. Theoretical aspects of the scientific discourse aimed at identifying and systematizing conceptual approaches to studying the socio-psychological factors influencing the formation of the subjective position are analyzed. Particular attention is given to the role of professional education, which, according to the research, should be oriented towards creating conditions that foster the development of such crucial traits of the subjective position as activity, purposefulness, responsibility, initiative, independence, creativity, and the aspiration to realize one's potential, which are determining factors for economic socialization. It is established that the subjective position of a future specialist is a system of personally significant attitudes a student holds toward themselves as a professional, toward their chosen profession, and toward their future professional activity. This system determines the actively developmental character of professional and personal formation within the educational space, which, in turn, significantly influences the process of students' economic socialization. A key aspect of the study is the determination of the relationship between the subjective position and the economic socialization of student youth. The subjective position is considered an integrative expression of all personality substructures, encompassing motivational-value, personal-activity, and reflexive-evaluative components. The article highlights that the subjective position promotes awareness of personal responsibility for economic life, the development of financial literacy, personal financial management skills, and adaptation to the economic conditions of modern society. In the process of economic socialization, students who adopt an active subjective position are better integrated into the economic environment, facilitating their successful professional development and social mobility. The article offers a comprehensive understanding of the subjective position of student youth and its critical impact on the process of economic socialization, which is significant for advancing theoretical and practical approaches in professional education.

Scientific-methodological knowledge and its development in the educational process

Introduction. For students, mastering the methodological foundations of scientific research plays an important role in professional education, providing scientifically proven support for professional thinking and readiness to scientifically substantiate the practical activities of a specialist to form a mechanism for intellectual and personal self-development. Today, numerous educational literature is being published, and educational disciplines devoted to the methodology of science and scientific research are being introduced. However, in most of the educational and scientific works created by students (course projects, final qualification papers, etc.), methodological provisions are formulated with errors; descriptions of the organisation of research, interpretation and design of their results are unsatisfactory. Therefore, there is the problem of finding ways to improve methodological literacy, methodological competence, and methodological culture of students. The relevance of such research is conditioned by the need to study the causes of such a situation, to develop ways for improving student methodological competence, to highlight and summarise the experience of teaching methodological knowledge, and to suggest ways for improving the educational process. The solution to this problem is especially significant for the humanities specialists (in particular, for educators and psychologists), who deal with the influence on the personality and human consciousness included in the social regulation of human behaviour. Aim. The present research aims to: 1) substantiate the theoretical approach to the scientific and methodological support of the process of mastering the methodological foundations of scientific research by students as to the development of scientific-methodological knowledge (SMK) based on the analysis of scientific and educational literature, the practice of teaching disciplines aimed at studying the methodological aspects of psychological and pedagogical research; 2) to identify the main guidelines for improving the ways to support the formation of SMK using examples from empirical studies of its development by students in the educational process, from the generalisation of the practical experience of the authors. Methodology and research methods. The research methodological framework was based on the approaches of Russian scientists to the methodological foundations of science and scientific research as a holistic knowledge, in which principles, norms, methods and scientific and cognitive activity are developed at the philosophical, general scientific, concrete scientific, methodical levels. Analysis, generalisation and systematisation were used as theoretical research methods; testing, survey, included observation and generalisation of experience were applied as empirical methods. To prove the propositions put forward by the authors, four empirically verifiable hypotheses were formulated. Two of them were confirmed: one was partially confirmed; the second one (about the absence of a connection between direct and remote forms with the formation of SMK) was not confirmed. In the mathematical and statistical interpretation of individual research results (correlation and variance types of analysis), the IBM SPSS Statistics 23 was employed. Results. The guidelines for supporting the development of SMK by students in the educational process were outlined: reliance on the creation of a research project by the trainee; placing the trainees in the position of an independent researcher; developing an understanding of the content and scope of the key concepts of research, its unity and integrity; paying special attention to the transformation of information and its presentation in various forms. Scientific novelty. The authors proposed and substantiated the idea of the study of the research methodological foundations as the development of SMK, which equips the researcher with an arsenal of guidelines, means and methods of action, providing the closest possible approach to the truth in the search for new scientific knowledge. Practical significance. The proposed approaches to the development of SMK can be used in the practice of studying disciplines devoted to the research methodological foundations in the social sciences and humanities, in support of students’ course projects and final qualifying works.

Cocurricular Learning in Management Education: Lessons From Legal Education’s Use of Student-Edited Journals

In this essay, we draw on insights from U.S. legal education’s century-long experiment using student-edited journals as a cocurricular learning tool, to develop the argument that management education should consider introducing a new category of student-edited, practitioner-oriented journals. Student-edited journals are potentially well-suited for management education because they encourage students to learn professionally relevant skills and to develop a greater understanding of research and its role in professional education. Enlisting students to help edit practitioner journals could also benefit business professionals by increasing the availability of practitioner-oriented research. In doing so, management education can use this cocurricular learning activity to help break down barriers between research, teaching and practice. This essay contributes to the management education literature by furthering the conversation about the role that cocurricular learning plays in fostering evidence-based management.

Vocational education in formation of the system of Ukrainian society value orientations

The subject of research is the role of professional education in ensuring changes of the value orientations of Ukrainian Information Age Society. The aim of this study is to identify the value orientations of modern Ukrainian society and the role of education in the values formation system. The research targets: to consider the problem of changes of generally significant values under the influence of Ukraine’s transformational processes up-to-date; to investigate the value of work through the mechanism of entrusting Ukrainian society with new types of employment; to focus attention on the role of professional education in the formation of a new elites generation with their universal human values, harmonized with the traditional and development strategy of the Ukrainian state. Research Methods. In the process of the study, the following research methods were used: logical generalization, comparison, analogies and the method of synthesis. The methodological basis of research was the Ukrainian and foreign scientists’ works, analytical materials of leading research organizations. Results. The concept of «value» is considered as a set of the most important qualities of the internal structure of personality which is manifested through the conscious activity of people, as they are especially important for her. The causes and consequences of value changes are analyzed and the focus is placed on the creative industries as a form of prevalent manifestation of value orientations of modern society. The author of the article proposes to focus on a more detailed study of the continuity of value of the worker and education in the information age, where the main vector is human-centrism. The practical significance. The results of this study can be used in the educational field to improve educational activities aimed at forming values of human-centric orientation. Conclusions. The results of the study suggest that education in the information age plays the most important role in the system of formation of human-centric values.

On the theoretical-methodological aspects of studying the influence of professional education on social stratification

This article presents an attempt to define the framework and the possible guidelines for analyzing the influence of professional education on social stratification given the current conditions of social reality. The author points out that the structural changes in all social institutions (including professional education and the labor market), the fluidity and dynamism of modern social reality, and conserving a dichotomy of fluidity when speaking of the Russian context – rigidity, the expansion and inflation of professional education combined with the preservation of inequality when it comes to implementing educational trajectories – all of this makes studying the connection between social stratification, professional education and social mobility ever the more relevant. Researchers face the following acute questions: what sort of role is played by professional education in promoting or restricting an individual’s social mobility? How has the expansion and inflation of education redefined the selection and allocation of human capital? In which way does the connection change between social stratification, professional education and social mobility, what are the foundations, the sociological study tradition and the theoretical-methodological prospects for the future? In order to find answers, the author examines both traditional theoretical-methodological approaches, and ones that are new to sociology of education. The article substantiates the notion that structural-functional theory does not possess a comprehensive explanatory potential in the study of the socio-structural role of professional education in regards to social mobility. The author substantiates the following thesis from a conflict analysis standpoint: democratizing access to professional education does not mean the reduction of class inequality or the emergence of a society of equal opportunity. Within the paradigm of an activity-related approach in sociology of education, where education is viewed not just as a separate social institution, but as part of a larger system of social action and social inequality, the definitive role of motivation and proactiveness is emphasized, with them producing a positive effect when it comes to attaining higher professional status. The accelerating rate of change in society, the multidimensionality and polyvariance in implementing educational and professional trajectories in modern society indicate the need for a multidimensional evaluation of social mobility. In regards to the topic of education, and when it comes to analyzing the implementation of educational trajectories, professional education represents a vital condition and a necessary prerequisite for an individual to exercise social mobility both in terms of objective and subjective coordinates of mobility, and in regards to research methods and methodology, this demands synthesizing quantitative and qualitative research strategies, and, consequently, opens up new opportunities for interpreting results and perceiving social reality.

There has recently been a growth in physical convergence in cultural heritage domains. The second of a two-part article that considers this trend with particular regard to public libraries and museums provides an overview of factors to be considered by those planning or developing physically converged services. This has been achieved through thematic analysis of a review of international literature from both domains. It begins with consideration of obstacles to convergence, ethical challenges, organisational and strategic complexity, organisational culture and resistance. It moves on to discuss factors, general and physical, that can lead to success in convergence: vision, strategy and planning, communication and trust, for example, and, how these can be led and managed. It also considers the role of professional education and training, the benefits of convergence, for example improved cultural offer and visibility, financial savings, with viewpoints from around the world. Part 2 ends with a critical note on the ‘convergence narrative’, and a conclusion that focuses on physical convergence which draws on both Parts.

The old paradigm on the quality of educator based solely on education certification is a fallacy, because the most important is now rely on the level of competence and its effective use in classroom. It means that the role of professional educator in terms of competence is required. However, like other professions, educator as a profession is still in the process of development. Consequently, certification of educator profession needs to be developed and standardized because those are not only to speed up the development of educator profession, but more importantly also to drive the quality, the effectiveness, and the tideness of education process. Moreover, the enfoscement of profession educator will not <br />only guarantee quality, but also protect education process from possible existing <br />malpractice behavior of educator and having exposed from inadequate education <br />materials. Moreover, this will also provide legal security and become the basis of appropriate renumetation system for educator profession accordingly. Toward the establishment of an accountable certification system for educator profession, a systematic steps have to be carried out, including: formulating standard of competence for educator, exploring supporting body of knowledge, framing types and levels of competence, articulating professional code of ethics, developing standards of professional education and training, establishing system and mechanism for professional enhancement, formulating licencing system and mechanism for institutions running professional education program, monitoring and safeguarding the implementation of profession, implementing a punishment system for those who breaks profession code of ethics, and developing professional certification management system. Collaboration with professional organizations, tertiary education institutions, parents, and students, the <br />government as a regulator, distributor, and resource allocator should comprehensively regulate certification for educator profession. With support from academician, practician, and parents, professional organization should take an initiative in the movement of educator profession certification development. Tertiary education institutions, institutionally or through their individual academicians, may take part in developing concent and regulations for both insititution and individual educator, and offer pre- and in- service training program in one or more specializations of educator profession. <br /> <br /><br /></p>

Actual aspects of medical ethics in training of the pediatrician

Nowadays the problems of medical ethics are gaining the special significance as a result of changes in social and economic relations, healthcare modernization due to appearance of new effective methods for instrumental and laboratory examinations, treatment approaches, development of market relations in medicine. The aim of the presented paper is to cover the actual aspects of medical ethics in pediatrics. The paper reviews the ethical aspects of the work of a in detail. Differentiated approach in choosing pediatrician interns, which is based not only on academic progress, but also on professional and moral qualities of the medical university alumni and continuity in their upbringing starting form the first years of the medical school until the end of post-graduate education, seems rationale. It is during the student years when the cognitive and moral values of a forthcoming specialist are formed, which may be a criterion of a suitability of working with children. The roles of the competition, including the modular approach to knowledge evaluation, professional competencies and rating system are stressed. Considering the modern requirements to a young professional, the accent is made on the role of the leading tutor in a forthcoming specialist formation. The requirements to a higher education teacher and the importance of the moral atmosphere in hospitals and faculties for forming the ethical features of a forthcoming pediatrician and improving his/her professional level according to the medical progress are outlined. Thus, teaching pediatrics has a lot of particularities, including teaching the basics of medical ethics, having an extremely important role in professional education of pediatricians for proper forming of the young professional according to contemporary life requirements.

The role of professional education in developing compassionate practitioners: A mixed methods study exploring the perceptions xof health professionals and pre-registration students

Compassionate practice is a public expectation and a core health professional value. However, in the face of growing public and professional unease about a perceived absence of compassion in health care it is essential that the role of education in developing compassionate practitioners is fully understood. The aim of this study was to explore qualified health professionals' and pre-registration students' understanding of compassion and the role of health professional education in promoting compassionate care. A sequential explanatory mixed methods study collected data using surveys and qualitative semi-structured interviews from qualified health professionals (n=155) and pre-registration students (n=197). Participants were from a range of health and social care disciplines and registered at a UK university. The findings indicate a high level of consensus in relation to participants' understanding of compassion in health care. Acting with warmth and empathy, providing individualised patient care and acting in a way you would like others to act towards you, were seen as the most common features of compassionate care. However, ambiguities and contradictions were evident when considering the role of health professional education in promoting compassionate practice. This study adds to the debate and current understanding of the role of education in fostering compassionate health care practice.

Injection Drug Use among Adolescents and Young Adults: Scope of the Problem and Recommendations

The goal of this article is to heighten awareness among social workers and other human service professionals about the use of injection drugs by adolescents and young adults. Although social work and other human service providers possess increasingly greater knowledge and skills in dealing with tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana use among adolescents and young adults, they often have limited knowledge of injection drugs such as heroin and cocaine. This article reviews the empirical research on prevalence, hazards, and treatment options for young injection drug users and provides case studies to illustrate key points. The role of professional education is discussed as are implications for research and practice, including early intervention, involvement of family and social networks, street outreach strategies, and the need for services along a continuum of care.

The role of professional education in promoting the dignity of older people

This paper considers the education of social and health care professionals who work with and care for older people. It asks whether education can promote the dignity of older people, how this may be done, what factors may ease or impede the promotion of dignity within professional education, and what part education plays alongside other influences on care practices.Beginning with consideration of research on the nature of professional education, the paper reviews principles of professional education, cultures and methods of teaching and learning and processes of practical apprenticeship. The paper argues that there are a number of challenges to the promotion of dignity within professional education, for example, inconsistencies in development of professional values, curriculum contradictions such as those between education for management and for direct care of older people, the balance between theory and practice and education for practice under changing real‐world conditions.

Power for nursing education

The topic of power and politics is a recurrent theme in the nursing literature, but not, I wish to suggest, in the nursing educational literature. This paper introduces the topic of power as a nursing educational issue. It is divided into three sections: (a) what a concept of power might mean for nursing education; (b) the nature and form of power relationships within nursing education; and (c) the nature, form and efficacy of the current professional strategies to gain power. First, two definitions of power for nursing education are explored: (a) the power inherent in organizational structures; and (b) the notion of practising nursing education as an empowering profession. Next, a theoretical framework is applied to specific examples of power relationships within nursing education. Two views of power and their inter-relationship with decision-making in curriculum matters are described: 'overt conflict' and 'control of the institution's agenda'. It is argued that these still fail to pick up important instances of the strategies to gain power. Finally, examples of strategies used to gain power in colleges of nursing are made explicit. Concurrently, questions are raised in relation to their efficacy and alternative strategies more congruent with the role of professional educator are advocated. It is argued that nursing education's most lasting form of power will rest in the development of pedagogical knowledge expertise and a research basis: in essence, the development of an academic identity in nursing education.

A short, intensive, teacher training course for general practitioners is described. The assessment techniques used indicate that it went some way towards achieving predetermined goals. Set alongside the limited time available to practitioners for attending training courses, and the logistic problems of training an adequate supply of teachers, this experience suggests that short intensive courses may have an important role in professional education.

Starting Out in Television: A Student-Centered Approach to Media Development in Social Work

Abstract Electronic media are expected to play an increasingly important role in professional education. Recent developments in videorecording technology have brought the ownership of small closed-circuit television systems well within the reach of most schools of social work, challenging them to develop ways to utilize this medium. To promote the utilization of electronic media, two schools of social work cooperated in offering a joint seminar in videorecording. This led to the formulation of a strategy for media development that relies on student interest and effort to generate faculty and administrative acceptance and support for television in social work education.

Professional education in urban planning: A framework for growth

Expanded interest in socio-economic problems have created new opportunities for the urban planning profession. Because of their emphasis on physical and land-use aspects of the city, traditional educational programs in urban planning have been unable to deal adequately with these new opportunities. Changes in program orientation and emphasis to meet these new challenges have started to take place in some urban planning departments. It remains to be seen how effective some of these changes will be over the long run. This paper considers some current aspects of urban planning education. The role of professional education in our society is examined along with the role of science in planning. Based on this analysis, a framework is proposed for the future growth of professional education in urban planning. Because of its strong orientation towards a “science of planning”, this proposal appears to be somewhat different than other changes currently being considered in some urban planning programs.
