Implementation of Law Number 13 Year 2003 Concerning Labor Related to Legal Protection Against Outsourcing Workers in Ternate City

This research is about legal protection for workers/laborers at outsourcing service companies in Ternate City related to the protection of the rights of outsourced workers/laborers in which workers' rights are normative rights in the form of permanent or contractual employment relationships, wages/salaries that are in accordance with the UMK, normal working hours, the rights of BPJS Employment and BPJS Health, protection at work using PPE personal protective equipment so that workers/laborers can be protected from the risk of occupational accidents, the company's obligation is to carry out all the fulfillment of workers'/labor's rights which have been regulated in the regulations employment. That legal protection for the people is a preventive and responsive government action. Preventive legal protection aims to prevent disputes from occurring, which directs government actions to be careful in making decisions based on discretion and responsive protection aims to prevent disputes from occurring, including their handling in the judiciary.

Chainsaw Operator Training & Occupational Safety and Health Socialization at Perum Perhutani KPH Banyuwangi Utara

Chainsaw operator is an important profession in logging production forest which has high occupational accident risk criteria. These potential risks can be in the form of accidents that are mechanical, electrical, biological, and physical. This community service activity is in the form of socializing chainsaw machine operational SOPs and introducing occupational health and safety as a preventive effort in reducing the potential risks faced by loggers in the Perum Perhutani KPH Banyuwangi Utara. This activity received quite a good appreciation for chainsaw operators in the Perum Perhutani KPH North Banyuwangi environment. The results of the training have provided basic knowledge about maintaining chainsaw machines and increasing safety first discipline for all parties involved in chainsaw operator activities.

Evaluation of Mining Safety Management System Implementation in PT. ANTAM UBPN Sultra

occupational safety and health in the mining sector, is an important aspect in mining business activities because it has a high risk of occupational accidents or occupational diseases. This research aims to examine the success rate of SMKP that has been implemented by companies at PT. ANTAM. This type of research is a survey with a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of representatives from 26 work units with a total of 613 employees. Data were collected using field observations, questionnaires, and guided interviews. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive with percentages. The results of internal audit and questionnaire as a whole, it was found that the success of implementing SMKP was 89%. Evaluation Results of the Application of Safety Management Systems at PT. ANTAM has been implemented in line with the regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 26 of 2018.

Evaluation of the effects of shift work on parasomnia prevalence

ABSTRACT Shift work is increasingly common in industrialized countries but is associated with numerous health problems, especially sleep disorders. This study compared the frequency of NREM (confusional arousal, sleep terrors, sleepwalking, sleep-related eating disorder), REM parasomnias (REM sleep behavior disorder, nightmare disorder), and isolated symptoms/normal variants (sleeptalking) between shift workers and daytime workers. A total of 1473 participants in 3 different professional groups and working different shift schedules (daytime, night, or rotating shifts) were included. Participants completed a questionnaire consisting of 132 questions about parasomnia, occupational stress, history of occupational and traffic accidents, depression, and other sleep disorders. The lifetime parasomnia prevalence was 43.7% and the 1-year parasomnia prevalence was 24.4% overall. The 1-year parasomnia prevalence was 27.5% among shift workers and 13% among daytime workers. This rate was highest among rotating shift workers (27.9%), followed by night shift workers (21.2%), and lowest in daytime workers (13%) (P < .001). The most common parasomnias reported were sleep terrors, confusional arousals, and sleeptalking. Parasomnia prevalence rates among workers with and without a history of occupational accidents were 43.7% and 24.2%, while those of workers with and without a history of car accidents were 47.4% and 23.8%, respectively (P < .001). Shift work was associated with higher parasomnia prevalence. Working rotating shifts in particular was an independent risk factor for parasomnia. The parasomnias most frequently associated with shift work were confusional arousal, sleeptalking, and sleep terrors. It should be kept in mind that higher parasomnia rates may increase the risk of occupational and traffic accidents in this population.

Analysis of Types of OHS Risks in the Lower Structure of a Multi-storey Building Project

Work accident on a construction project is an event that still often happens. Along with the rapid pace of development of high-rise building construction in Indonesia, the risk of workplace accidents is considered to be increasingly important. In this study a case study was conducted on the work of Project “X” in Cileungsi. The purpose of this study is to identify the types of risks that can cause work accidents in the work in the lower structure of the construction of high-rise buildings, as well as to determine the type of risk of occupational accidents that is dominant in the work of the lower structure. This research method will be conducted by survey and distributing questionnaires to respondents. The types of risks were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Version 25 calculation application to determine what types of risks could cause work accidents and the dominant types of work accident risks that occurred in sub-structure work

Identification of Occupational Accident Risks in Nanomaterial Laboratories in Higher Education Based on Human Factors

The article describes a concept of health and safety to conduct research in Nanomaterial Laboratory in Two Public University in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. The utilization of nanomaterials in the world of education has been done in two universities in Malang, namely Malang State University and Brawijaya University. The nanomaterial laboratory as a means for research and development of nanomaterial science that often creates hazards and risks of work accidents for its users, but things that are often not realized. Dangers and risks of work accidents caused by the absence of standards. This research focuses on hazards and accidents in the nanomaterial laboratory using the HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) method, which is then followed by a variety of independent variables. The population in this study were nanomaterial researchers at two universities in Malang. Based on the results of trials between respondents 'competency expertise with the level of risk of workplace accidents in the nanomaterial laboratory obtained p- value 0.00 (&amp;lt;0.05), meaning that there is a significant relationship between the respondents' scientific conservation and the level of work accident risk in the nanomaterials laboratory. Furthermore, the results of the study were also obtained between the research respondents with the level of risk of work accidents in the nanomaterial laboratory with a p-value of 0.00 (&amp;lt;0.05), meaning that there was a significant correlation between the respondent's research experience and the level of work accident risk in the nanomaterial laboratory.

Incidence and time trend of occupational accidents in the textile and clothing industry: analysis of Santa Catarina, Brazil, between 2008 and 2017.

To estimate the incidence and time trend of typical work accidents in the textile and clothing industry in Santa Catarina from 2008 to 2017. This was a retrospective epidemiological study based on data from the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS). The time trend was analyzed by calculating the average annual change and logistic regression. There was a downward trend in the incidence of occupational accidents in Santa Catarina during the period studied (8.8%). The highest incidence occurred in 2008 among men (12.6%), workers aged between 40 and 49 years (6.7%), black people (7.4%), people with less than 12 years of education (5.0%), with an average income of 3 to 7 minimum wages (7.0%), with up to 4 years of employment (6.9%), workers in the manufacture of textile products (10, 3%), medium-sized establishments (that is, between 100 and 499 workers; 7.9%) and in the regions of Greater Florianópolis (7.0%) and Vale do Itajaí (6.8%). The risk for typical occupational accidents dropped significantly over the period studied. However, future studies are needed to analyze new relationships that may point to other associated factors. It is hoped that this study can contribute to support measures for the prevention, promotion, protection and rehabilitation of the health of workers in this production sector.

Missed work due to occupational accidents among personnel at a hospital in Paraná.

IntroductionHospital workers are exposed to several occupational hazards, which can lead to work accidents. Objectives: To conduct a survey of the main impacts and causes of missed work resulting from occupational accidents occurred among hospital personnel.MethodsQuantitative, descriptive, exploratory chart review carried out at a not-for-profit hospital in a medium-sized municipality in the state of Paraná, Brazil. For data collection, the medical records of 73 hospital workers who sustained occupational accidents from January 2017 to July 2019 were assessed.ResultsOf the 73 occupational accidents, 63 (86.3%) occurred in female workers; the age of the victims ranged from 20 to 57 years. Twenty-one workers (28.76%) required time off work; of these, 17 (80.9%) were nurses. The average number of days off work was 8.71, and only two workers were on leave for 15 days or more.ConclusionsOccupational accidents occurred predominantly in female workers, with nursing staff being most affected. Only one worker was away for more than 15 days, and only one accident occurred on the way to work rather than in the workplace. The findings of the present study demonstrate that the hospital work environment is complex and potentially hazardous to the health of workers, many of whom are constantly exposed to a risk of occupational accidents.

Identifikasi Risiko Kecelakan Kerja Terhadap Pekerja Di PT. IKI Makassar Tahun 2020 (Studi Pada Pekerja Proses Marking)

Introduction: Management of occupational health and safety is an integrated effort to manage the risks involved in company activities that can resulted in human injury, damage or disruption to the company's business is divided into three parts, namely Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) aims to identify potential hazards in the workplace by linking workers, tasks, work equipment and the work environment. The purpose of this study was to identify occupational accident risk then assess the level of occupational accident risk at PT. IKI Makassar in 2020 and how to control it. Methods: The research is qualitative. The approach used in this research is a quasi-qualitative approach. The technique used is observation, in-depth interview) and documentation continuously throughout the study to analyze further about risk identification and control that can be done in the marking process at PT. IKI Makassar. Prior to qualitative research, the risk management process was measured using the HIRARC. The informants in this study were divided into three, that are key informants is the inspector K3, regular informants (part of production process management and knowing the flow of the marking production process), and supporting informants (the workers who work in part of the marking production process) at PT. IKI Makassar. Results: From the results of the study using the HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control) table, it was found that the highest potential hazards and risks were found in the marking process in cutting plates where the most frequent potential hazards such as slipping, falling, slicing and scratching. The conclusion of this research is the Potential dangers contained in the marking process at PT. Makassar IKI covers mechanical hazards in the marking area, ie pinched, dropped, scratched, sliced, knocked and crushed.&#x0D;

Evaluación del riesgo biológico en los laboratorios de las Instituciones Universitarias

Las personas que trabajan en laboratorios clínicos están en permanente riesgo de sufrir accidentes laborales por la exposición a material biológico. Con base a esta premisa este artículo se propone como objetivo evaluar el riesgo biológico en los laboratorios clínicos de la universidad estatal del sur de Manabí. Fundamentado en las teorías propuestas por el método BIOGAVAL. La metodologia fue de tipo observacional – descriptiva con un componente exploratorio constituido los usuarios del laboratorio clínico de la Universidad a través de la informacion aportadas a través del instrumento aplicado. Los resultados, permitieron constatar que existe vulnerabilidad de contagio hacia los agentes biológicos que poseen como vía de contaminación la aérea, pues son expansivas y de fácil contacto para alojarse y producir la enfermedad, permitiendo concluir que los mayores factores de riesgos se encontraron el micobacterium tuberculosis, el virus de las hepatitis C y D y el virus de la gripe.

Wood-Logging Process Management in Eastern Amazonia (Brazil)

In this work, the wood-logging process of four federal conservation units (FCUs) in the Eastern Amazonia forest are described and compared. The approach focused on on-site observation of activities and tasks performed during the process. As an outcome, it was observed that companies implement activities similarly, regardless of their specific know-how. The most significant difference was identified in the cross-cutting operation, which is carried out in several steps and which interferes with the efficiency of the activity and the exposure of workers to occupational risks. The use of geographic information systems (GIS) during planning and management activities, and the use of modern machinery equipped with safety devices, in combination with workers’ theoretic and practical continuous training, were identified as crucial measures that assure operational efficiency in the four companies assessed. Seeking to contribute to the sustainable development of the Amazon forest, a generic model for wood logging is proposed, which brings together best practices identified in the companies studied and makes it possible to obtain the best benefit at the lowest workers’ exposure to the risk of occupational accidents.

PENILAIAN RISIKO KERJA MENGGUNAKAN METODE HIRARC DI PT. SINAR LAUT INDAH NATAR LAMPUNG SELATAN

PT Sinar Laut Indah is a concrete manufacturing plant that has a risk of occupational accidents and occupational diseases due to exposure to particulates, use of work tools, and work methods. The purpose of this research is to find out what are the dangers in a factory, to assess the risk (risk assessment) and risk control (risk control) at each work stage using the HIRARC method. The work risk assessment uses the HIRARC method, which consists of three stages of assessment, namely hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control. The research subjects were all activities in the paving block production section including tools, materials and work processes. Data collection was carried out by observing and measuring exposure, which was then standardized using two risk assessment parameters, namely probability/likelihood of hazard and severity of the hazard. Risk control is the final stage formulated based on the results of the risk assessment from the previous stage. The results of the study found 4 activities in the high category, mixing and stirring of materials, checking rolling boxes, paving blocks presseing, and cleaning the remaining material. The highest risk of occupational diseases is respiratory problems and skin or eye irritation during the mixing and stirring activities of the ingredients, as well as cleaning the remaining materials. Meanwhile, the highest risk of work-related accidents is in rolling box-checking activities. The use of the HIRARC method and the application of probability/likelihood of hazard and severity of hazard are good enough to assess the risk of occupational accidents and occupational diseases. Carrying out repair and maintenance of machines, determining danger zones, using personal protective equipment, and administrative controls are efforts that must be made to avoid risks due to work

Racial disparities in positive airway pressure therapy adherence among veterans with obstructive sleep apnea.

Black individuals are disproportionately affected by diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and OSA. Adherence to PAP therapy has been reported to be lower among black individuals. This study seeks to examine associations between black race and PAP adherence among veterans with OSA. This was a retrospective study. Veterans newly diagnosed with OSA at a single Department of Veterans Affairs sleep center who were prescribed a modem-enabled PAP device between January 2015 and November 2017 were enrolled. PAP adherence was defined as ≥ 4 hours nightly usage for at least 70% of nights measured at 30 days from PAP setup. We examined the relationship between race and adherence, controlling for sex, marital status, age, socioeconomic status, residual apnea-hypopnea index), and mask leak. Of 3013 patients identified with OSA, 2571 (85%) were newly started on PAP therapy (95% male, aged 59 years ± 14 years, 45% married, 8% with neighborhood socioeconomic disadvantage). Twenty-five percent of participants were black, and 57% were white. PAP adherence at 30 days was 50% overall (42% among blacks, 53% among nonblacks). Black race was associated with reduced 30-day PAP adherence in unadjusted (P < .001) and adjusted logistic regression models (odds ratio = 0.64; 95% CI, 0.53 - 0.78; P < .001). Among veterans with OSA, black race was associated with reduced PAP adherence. These findings suggest health inequality among black individuals in the treatment of OSA.

Physical activity is associated with reduced prevalence of self-reported obstructive sleep apnea in a large, general population cohort study.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common condition with significant symptoms and long-term adverse cognitive, mental health, vascular, and respiratory sequelae. Physical activity has been recognized as a key determinant for good health and has been associated with lower risk of these sequelae. We hypothesized that increased physical activity may be associated with a decreased prevalence of OSA. This cross-sectional study used baseline questionnaire data from the Ontario Health Study, a population-based cohort of residents of Ontario, Canada. Participants were adults who provided lifestyle, medical, socio-demographic, and sleep health information. The study sample consisted of 155,448 men (39.8%) and women (60.2%). The prevalence of physician-diagnosed OSA in this cohort was 6.9%. Logistic regression models were used to investigate the association of OSA with physical activity. Missing data were imputed using a multiple imputation by chained equation approach. In multivariable analyses adjusted for potential confounding factors, increased total physical activity (metabolic equivalent [h/wk]) (odds ratio [OR] = .98, 95% confidence interval [CI] = .96 to 1.00), vigorous-intensity activity (OR = .98, 95% CI = .97 to 1.00), and walking (OR = .98, 95% CI = .96 to 1.00) were all associated (all P ≤ .045) with decreased prevalence of OSA. Moderate-intensity activity was not associated with risk of OSA (P = .826). Independent of known risk factors for OSA, including body mass index, increased levels of physical activity, including walking, were associated with a prevalence of OSA. Our results highlight the importance of physical activity as a preventive measure for sleep apnea.

A longitudinal study on the association between quick returns and occupational accidents.

Objective:This study aimed to investigate how change in the number of quick returns [(QR) <11 hours between consecutive shifts] longitudinally is associated with risk of occupational accidents among nurses.Methods:Two-year follow-up data from 1692 nurses participating in the Survey of Shiftwork, Sleep and Health among Norwegian nurses (SUSSH) (mean age 40.2, standard deviation 8.3 years, 91% female) were used. Negative binomial regression analyses were conducted to investigate the association between changes in the number of QR after two years and occupational accidents, controlling for demographics, work factors, and occupational accidents at baseline.Results:An increase from having no or a moderate number of QR (1–34 per year) from baseline to the two-year follow-up assessment was associated with an increased risk of occupational accidents, compared to experiencing no change in the number of QR. Those with a moderate number of QR at baseline who experienced an increase after two years had an increased risk of causing harm to patients/others [incident rate ratio (IRR) 8.49, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.79–25.87] and equipment at work (IRR 2.89, 95% CI 1.13–7.42). Those who had many QR (>34 per year) at baseline but experienced a reduction after two years had a reduced risk of causing harm to themselves (IRR 0.35, 95% CI 0.16–0.73) and patients/others (IRR 0.27, 95% CI 0.12–0.59).Conclusion:A fairly consistent pattern was demonstrated in which changes in the number of QR over the two-year follow-up period was associated with a corresponding change in the risk of occupational accidents.

Cross-sectional study of the healthcare provided by a medicalized helicopter from Extremadura (Spain)

ObjectiveTo analyze geographic dispersion, demographic factors, clinical features of patients attended and response times of a helicopter emergency medical service in a region of Spain. MethodsAccording to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and to the standards of Good Clinical Practice, a cross-sectional observational study from January 2014 to December 2016 was carried out. Socio-demographic, clinical and transfer related variables were analyzed from an anonymized database loaned by the service. Results642 missions were flown (on average 0.59 flights per day). The patients were 65.6% males (they were significantly younger than women were) and 79% older than 45. Primary transfers composed 68.8% of cases. Medical pathologies were the most prevalent (74.9%), followed by traumatic pathologies (19.8%). Cardiovascular pathologies took up 68.8% of attended medical pathologies and 51.56% of the total of recorded cases. The accident rate was 20.25% and the response time in 75% of cases was under 32 min. Twenty deceased patients were registered (70% males). ConclusionsThis study reports for the international community the features of several Spanish HEMS and profile of patients attended. Adult men are a common profile and cardiovascular issues have replaced traumatic issues as main healthcare demand. However, it should be confirmed because it could be due to differences in local profile of patients. Men had higher risk of road traffic and occupational accidents as well as a higher mortality than women did. Socio-demographical and organizational aspects have been provided that could be taken into consideration to implement new air emergency services.

The Development of Safety Plan Using Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for Building Information Modeling (BIM)-Based Building Structure Work

One of the most influential factors on the project success in the construction industry is the safety management system. The rate of the occupational accidents in the construction sector is still very high according to the report of the Institution of Social Security Employment in Indonesia. One of the causes of the high rate of the occupational accidents that occur is due to the unnoticed work activities which is caused by the lack of control on the risks of the work activities. To discovered all of the activities on a work package, we can use a tool called WBS or Work Breakdown Structure. Besides that, by using the advancement of technology, it is expected to be used to improve safety performance on the construction projects effectively and efficiently. One of the advancements of technology which is already been used in the construction sector on this era is the BIM (Building Information Modeling). With using the BIM system on the construction projects, the quality of the work during the planning and construction phase will be increasing. Therefore, the development of a safety plan using WBS for BIM-based building structure work will be carried out in this study. The research method in this paper is a qualitative method and a case study will be presented on this paper to find out the effectiveness with using BIM in the safety management process. The results of this research are the occupational accident risks that are dominantly using the WBS and the development of the safety plan using WBS for BIM-based building structures work. The case study results the integrating of safety building information with the 4D model is very effective and efficient method to use on the safety management process. With the BIM system in the safety management process, the budget and the duration for safety inspection can be reduced because the hazardous of the occupational accidents can be identified faster according to the construction schedule. This research is expected to create a safety management strategy and can improve the safety performance on building construction projects in Indonesia.

Evaluation of rural development, social innovation, risks and occupational accidentality Vereda Pueblo Viejo, Guayabal de Síquima, Cundinamarca

Community research was carried out responding to the needs of a social, economic type of rural society, offering solutions to a place in the community, motivating and organizing so that each of the identified needs with the development of self-diagnoses. The identification and solution of a problem that had been affecting the community was worked between 2017 and 2018 with the people living in the village, after socializing and analyzing them, the community affirmed a very important one that went unnoticed. absence of a first aid kit, since each family can´t have one, it was proposed to have a community kit. The methodology used was the logical framework in three community works I, II and III, in order to interact with the community, diagnose the situation, the problem, propose objectives and indicators that satisfy rural society taking into account the main rural development variables, social innovation and risks of occupational accidents worked in the field with a group of 7 leaders from the town of Pueblo Viejo de Guayabal de Síquima, Cundinamarca.

Introduction: Every worker is exposed to the risk of occupational accidents or occupational diseases when working. Awkward working postures are the postures that cause body parts to detach from its natural postures that can result in the complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). This research intends to analyze the factors related to the complaints of MSDs suffered by the shelving staff in the library and reading room in Universitas Airlangga Surabaya. Methods: This research is observational research that applies a cross-sectional design. The sample of this research consists of 27 people chosen by the total population method. The data regarding the individual characteristics and the complaints of MSDs are obtained through interview and filling out a questionnaire that has been standardized. The data on working postures are analyzed by referring to the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method, while the data on the complaints of MSDs are scrutinized by implementing the Nordic Body Map (NBM) method. Results: Reveal that most of the shelving staff experience very high-risk level of MSDs (40.7%). Other than that, it is noticed that the working postures consist of squatting (high-risk level), bowing (high-risk level), standing (moderate-risk level), standing with arms stretching (very high-risk level), and standing with arms stretching while tiptoeing (very high-risk level). The collected data is analyzed by using the Spearman correlation test. Conclusion: It can be stated that the strongest factor causing the occurrence of MSDs is the years of service (r=0.803) with a positive relationship, which means that the longer the years of service is, the higher the risk to experience MSDs is.
