Factors Influencing the Risk of Early Marriage Among Adolescents at SMPN 5 Panyabungan, Mandailing Natal Regency in 2024

Indonesia is the country with the second highest early marriage rate in the ASEAN after Cambodia. Almost 10% of girls become mothers at the age of 16 in poor and developing countries with the highest rate, one of which is in Southeast Asia. The researcher's aim: to analyze of Factors That Influence Adolescents on the Risk of Early Marriage at SMPN 5 Panyabungan Mandailing Natal Regency 2024. Research method: namely a correlational method, the sample size is 55 people. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The results of the analysis prove that the majority of teenagers with poor knowledge are 27 people (49%), while the minority are teenagers with good knowledge as many as 6 people (10.9%). The results of the research show that there is a relationship between knowledge based on age (pvalue=0.021), and knowledge based on sources of information (pvalue=0.014) for young women regarding maturing marriage age and the risk of early marriage at SMP Negeri 5 Panyabungan, Mandailing Natal Regency. The conclusion of the research results was that there was a relationship between knowledge based on age and knowledge based on information sources for young women regarding early marriage at SMP Negeri 5 Panyabungan, Mandailing Natal Regency in 2024.

ADOLESCENT’S KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE RISK OF EARLY MARRIAGE RELATED TO ATTITUDE OF PREVENTING EARLY MARRIAGE IN KECAMATAN PARE KABUPATEN KEDIRI

Early marriage is a marriage that occur at the age of 18 years old. In 2020, early marriage was 19.26%. The population of women aged 10 years old and over who have ever been married carried out their first marriage at the age of less than 17 years old. The purpose of this study is how the relationship between adolescent’s knowledge about the risk of early marriage and the attitude of efforts to prevent early marriage. The research design method used cross sectional and the measuring instrument was a questionnaire. The independent variable is the knowledge of adolescents about the risk of early marriage while the dependent variable in this study is the attitude of efforts to prevent early marriage. The subjects were teenagers in Kecamatan Pare who had a girlfriend or had been in a relationship. The research sample was 300 respondents and the sampling technique is snowball. Data analysis using Spearman correlation test. The results showed that r = 0.237, sig (p) = 0.000, which means that there is a relationship between adolescent knowledge about the risk of early marriage and the attitude of efforts to prevent early marriage.

The Relationship Between Adolescent Female Knowledge Levels and Early Marriage Risk

Introductions: Cases of early marriage are now common in various parts of the world. This is of particular concern, considering the many risks that will arise in early marriage or forced marriage, pregnancy at a young age, sexual intercourse at an early age, namely: Sexually transmitted infections, the risk of complications that will occur during pregnancy or childbirth, so can increase maternal and infant mortality. Aims: This study aims to determine the relationship between the knowledge of young women and the risk of early marriage in the working area of the Ciamis Health Center. Methods: The research used a quantitative correlation method with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all pregnant women and mothers who had given birth under the age of 20 in the working area of the UPTD Ciamis Health Center, Ciamis Regency, with as many as 30 respondents. the sample in this study uses Total Sampling. Results: Of the 30 respondents, 1 person had good knowledge (3.3%), 16 people had sufficient knowledge (53.3%) and 13 people had less knowledge (43.3%). out of 30 respondents, 26 people were not at risk of early marriage (86.7%) and as many as 4 were at risk of early marriage (13.3%). Conclusions: Based on the results of statistical tests using the Chi-Square test, a p-value of 0.632 was obtained, when compared to α (0.05), the p-value was more significant than the value of α (0.632 > 0.05), so Ho failed to be rejected, which means that there is no relationship between adolescent knowledge daughter with the risk of early marriage in the Working Area of the UPTD Puskesmas Ciamis.

Providing access to education and adolescent reproductive health services is expected to increase the independence of adolescents in regulating functions and processes reproduction, including their Sexual life, so that their reproductive health rights can be fulfilled in improving the quality of life and the quality of their offspring both physically, mentally and social and free from fear, violence and discrimination. The result achieved from this activity is an increase in participants' knowledge about puberty and reproductive health. Specific objectives of the development of the education system and health services Reproduction for adolescents is to protect adolescents from the risk of early marriage, unwanted pregnancies, abortions, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), HIV/AIDS and Sexual violence.

Does Education Level Matter in Women’s Risk of Early Marriage?: Case Study in Rural Area in Indonesia

Several studies inform that early marriage is correlated with several situations, including socioeconomicstatus, cultural wisdom, religious values, education, and internet access. The study was aimed at analyzingthe effect of education level on women’s risk of early marriage in rural areas in Indonesia. The study useddata from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey. There were 2,252 women aged 19-24 yearsin a rural area in Indonesia who was taken as a sample. The variables analyzed included early marriage,education level, wealth status, and employment status. The final stage was used as a binary logistic regressiontest to determine the risk factors. The result found that women who have secondary education have a risk of0.396 times compared to women who have primary education to experience an early marriage (OR 0.396;95% CI 0.309-0.506). Women who have a higher education have a risk of 0.091 times compared to womenwho have primary education to experience an early marriage (OR 0.091; 95% CI 0.059-0.140). This findinginforms that the education level was a determinant of the incidence of early marriage among women in ruralIndonesia. The lower the education of a woman in a rural area, the higher the risk of experiencing an earlymarriage. It could be concluded that a low level of education is a risk factor for women’s early marriage inrural areas in Indonesia.

Clinical vitamin-A deficiency and associated factors among pregnant and lactating women in Northwest Ethiopia: a community-based cross-sectional study

BackgroundVitamin A deficiency is known for its adverse health consequences, such as blindness, growth retardation and death. To curb the problem, Ethiopia has implemented various public health measures although little has been done to examine the deficiency among pregnant and lactating women. As a result, this study assessed the prevalence of Vitamin A deficiency and associated factors among pregnant and lactating women in Lay Armachiho district, northwest Ethiopia.MethodsA community-based cross-sectional study was conducted on pregnant and lactating women in Lay Arimachiho district, northwest Ethiopia, using the multistage systematic sampling technique to select participants. The binary logistic regression model was fitted to test the effect of exposure variables, and the Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR) with a 95% Confidence Interval (CI) and p-value < 0.05 were computed to identify the significance and the strength of the associations of variables with Vitamin A deficiency.ResultsThe study revealed that 13.7% of the pregnant and lactating women had night blindness and 0.4% had also Bitot’s Spot. Over 35 years of age of mothers (AOR = 2.74; 95%CI: 1.15,7.43), less than USD 22.7 household monthly income (AOR = 8.9; 95%CI: 4.54,21.73), and poor hand washing practices after toilets (AOR = 8.87; 95% CI: 4.43,18.68) were positively associated with VAD, while mothers’ access to the media (AOR = 0.20; 95%CI:0.07, 0.59), formal education (AOR = 0.09; 95% CI: 0.03, 0.41), over 18 years of age at first marriage (AOR = 0.19; 95%CI: 0.08,0.36), and no fasting (AOR = 0.14; 95%CI: 0.04,0.46) were negatively associated.ConclusionsMaternal Vitamin A deficiency was the major public health problem in Lay Armachiho district. Over 35 years of age of mothers, less than USD 22.7 household monthly income and poor hand washing practices after toilets were high risks for VAD, while mothers’ access to the media, formal education, over 18 years at first marriage, and no fasting were low risks. Therefore, community awareness about the risk of early marriage, poor hand hygiene practices after toilets, and fasting during pregnancy and lactating period were essential. Organizations working on maternal health need to focus on mothers with low incomes in order to reduce their deficiency in Vitamin A.

Marriage is identical with happiness, every couple who goes through marriage hopes that their marriage will go well. To achieve this requires readiness, both in terms of thinking and financial maturity. A good age according to experts, a person to get married is 25 years for men and 21 years for women. But unfortunately many in the marriage community occur at a very young age, which we often call early marriage. . Based on the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) the number of child marriages (18 years and under) in Indonesia is increasing. Early marriages occur usually not based on mature considerations, but are more dominated by personal needs, family economic factors, educational factors, hereditary adat factors, and mental factors of adolescents. Persuasive communication is one of the effective communication methods to influence someone in this case persuasive communication with video media is expected to be able to influence the public to suppress underage marriages. Data collection methods in this case use the Design Thingking method. the design of public service video advertisements about the risk of early marriage in West Lombok is Soft Sell, namely the concept of conveying the contents of messages indirectly to the intended target audience, and also having a comedy or comedy genre concept in it. The concepts used to influence the audience include the choice of color, font and also every scene in the video. For the color itself the authors use bright colors, cheerful and pleasant, also the selection of fonts that look relaxed and light. so this public service ad is easy to remember and influences the target audience following the advice in the campaign video.&#x0D; &#x0D; &#x0D; Keywords: campaign, persuasive communication, early marriage.

AGE AT FIRST MARRIAGE IN NEPAL: DIFFERENTIALS AND DETERMINANTS

The aim of this paper is to investigate the differentials and determinants of female age at first marriage in rural Nepal. The life table technique was employed to calculate median age at marriage. The proportional hazard model was used to study the effect of various socioeconomic variables, and to identify the magnitude and significance of their effects on the timing of first marriage. The data were taken from a sample survey of Palpa and Rupandehi districts in rural Nepal. Both married and unmarried females of marriageable age were included in the survey. Median age at marriage was about 17 years for data from only married females, whereas it was about 18 years for data from married as well as unmarried females of marriageable age. Median age at marriage was about 16 years for uneducated females and 19 years for females educated up to intermediate or higher level. The analysis underestimates the median age at marriage for married females, probably due to right censoring. The risk of getting married early decreased gradually with increasing year-of-birth cohort. The risk of early marriage was higher among females of high socioeconomic status compared with those of low socioeconomic status. Females engaged in service married earlier than those engaged in household work. High socioeconomic status families are motivated, for religious and prestige reasons, to get their daughters married at an early age, preferably before menarche. Thus, education, occupation and age at menarche are the most powerful factors in deciding the timing of first marriage in Nepal.
