Integration of Immersive Approaches for Collaborative Processes with Building Information Modeling (BIM) Methodology for the AEC Industry: An Analysis of the Current State and Future Challenges

This study aims to identify and analyze existing gaps in the integration of immersive approaches for collaborative processes with Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. Using a systematic approach that includes metadata analysis and review procedures, we have formulated specific research questions aimed at guiding future investigations into these gaps. Additionally, the analysis generates insights that could guide future research directions and improvements in the field. The methodology involves a comprehensive review of the literature, focusing on the interaction between immersiveness, BIM methodology, and collaborative processes. Data from 2010 to 2023 have been analyzed to ensure relevance and completeness. Our findings reveal current limitations in the field, such as the need for fully integrated prototypes and the execution of empirical studies to clarify operational processes. These limitations serve as the basis for our research questions. The study offers actionable insights that could guide future research and improvements in the AEC sector, particularly in the adoption of immersive technologies. The research underscores the urgency of addressing these challenges to facilitate ongoing development and greater adoption of immersive technologies in the AEC sector.

Active frequency selective surfaces: a systematic review for sub-6 GHz band

Abstract Radar absorption structures made of an active frequency selective surfaces (AFSS) have enormous potential in the aviation, naval, and other industries. In this research paper, a systematic review (SR) is carried out in the field of the AFSS to bring uncertainties, obstacles, challenges, classifications, applications, and design issues that arrive in the development of the sub-6 GHz architecture. To bias the AFSS component, as per the signal requirements, a unique set of circuits (PIN diode) is required, with ON and OFF state and a transmission zone. The bandwidth of which is determined by the bias voltage supplied. It can behave as a complicated hybrid impedance structure by providing ON and OFF biasing voltage to a PIN diode embodied in an FSS structure. Higher manufacturing costs of AFSS components, more significant complexities involved, a large amount of power consumption, and reactive impedance losses are some common limitations faced while implementing and designing an AFSS. Many envisioned problems are corrected with the AFSS design, current or creative implementations, and processing parameters are investigated progressively. It implies that new AFSSs will be an alternative to regular FSSs in the future. This paper is based on Kitchenham’s three-phase review procedure and supplements it with results, views, and recommendations from other leading experts in the field.

Frameworks for climate risk management (CRM) in cultural heritage: a systematic review of the state of the art

PurposeA comprehensive understanding of the determining factors and implications of the frameworks for appreciating the relationships between climate risks and cultural heritage remains deficient. To address the gap, the review analysed literature on the management of climate risk in cultural heritage. The review examines the strengths and weaknesses of climate risk management (CRM) frameworks and attendant implications for the conservation of cultural heritage.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopted a two-phased systematic review procedure. In the first phase, the authors reviewed related publications published between 2017 and 2021 in Scopus and Google Scholar. Key reports published by organisations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) were identified and included in Phase Two to further understand approaches to CRM in cultural heritage.FindingsResults established the changes in trend and interactions between factors influencing the adoption of CRM frameworks, including methods and tools for CRM. There is also increasing interest in adopting quantitative and qualitative methods using highly technical equipment and software to assess climate risks to cultural heritage assets. However, climate risk information is largely collected at the national and regional levels rather than at the cultural heritage asset.Practical implicationsThe review establishes increasing implementation of CRM frameworks across national boundaries at place level using high-level technical skills and knowledge, which are rare amongst local organisations and professionals involved in cultural heritage management.Originality/valueThe review established the need for multi-sectoral, bottom-up and place-based approaches to improve the identification of climate risks and decision-making processes for climate change adaptation.

The Asian Aerospace and Astronautics Conference (AAAC 2023) will take place in Wuhan, Hubei, China from September 15-17, 2023, where participants will gain detailed insights into the state of the art of aerospace and astronautics, and enjoy the exchange with other enthusiasts from all over the world who are interested in this highly relevant and constantly growing area. The conference is sponsored by Science and Engineering Institute (SCIEI), Huazhong University of Science and Technology, co-sponsored by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, York University, etc.This international conference was over three-days and provided a forum for discussion of aerospace and astronautics. Submitted papers were received and sent for preliminary and peer review conducted by the technical committees. Professional comments are given according to the aspects of originality, innovation, applicability, technical merit, organizing and writing, relevance to conference. After several rounds of review procedure, some excellent papers have been received to get published in the conference proceedings. The proceedings contains a collection of research papers, organized with 6 chapters: aircraft structural design and wing aerodynamic analysis, automation control and visualization technology for flight systems, system design and safety analysis in aerospace engineering, aviation system and engine performance simulation and evaluation, new propulsion technology based on combustion mode, engineering material mechanics analysis and performance simulation and so on.The conference invited four internationally recognised experts in their fields of aerospace and astronautics to deliver keynote and invite speeches, including Prof. Zheng Hong Zhu, York University, Canada; Prof. Chih-Yung Wen, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China; Prof. Yan Wang, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China; Prof. Lei Shi, Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. Each speaker has delivered the speech more than 30 minutes. In addition, around 50 experts and scholars and listeners from the world’s top research institutes of aerospace technology, including Northwestern Polytechnical University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beihang University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology.We would especially like to thank the organization committees, the members of the program committees and technical committees. Clinical research in hospital pharmacy during the fight against COVID-19

The health crisis resulting from the rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 worlwi-de, added to the low evidence of currently used treatments has led to the development of a large number of clinical trials (CT) and observational studies. Likewise, important measures have been adopted in healthcare and research centers aimed at halting the pandemic as soon as possible.The objective of this study is to gather the main aspects of the clinical research studies undertaken by the Pharmacy Department (PD) of Spain during the COVID-19 crisis.The decision of the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy (SEFH) to sponsor CTs made it possible that 13% of Pharmacy Department (PD) had been led at least one CT. The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS), in coordination with Institutional Review Boards, has adopted a fast-track review procedure to accelerate authorizations for CTs related to the treatment or prevention of COVID-19. There have also been numerous public and private calls for financing research projects aimed at contributing to the fight against this virus.Despite the pandemic, actions have been taken to continue ongoing CTs and studies while the safety and well-being of patients are guaranteed. More specifically, the AEMPS and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) have issued guidelines that incorporate changes to CT protocols that will have to be applied until the pandemic is over.In this health emergency, the scientific community has found itself in a race against time to generate evidence. It is at this moment that hospital pharmacists emerge as key players in clinical research and are contributing to a rational, effective and safe healthcare decision-making.

Problems with the Asylum System and Their Solutions: Take Case of Colombia v. Peru on the Right of Asylum as an Example

The right of asylum in international law refers to the right of citizens of one country to enjoy asylum in another country, and in the interaction of sovereign states, the right of asylum is usually applied in the context of a citizen of a country requesting to enter another country or having entered another country for political reasons and in an emergency, and is approved by the government of another country. For a long time, there have been debates on the definition, establishment conditions and examination procedures of the right of asylum, and there have been many differences in the determination of the application of the right of sanctuary in practice. Based on the study of the Colombia v. Peru asylum case and the literature related to the right of asylum, this paper uses the comparative research method and the case analysis method to discuss the differences between the academic research on the right of asylum in the past and the present, and analyzes the problems and challenges of the asylum right system in the current international environment based on real cases, and finally provides suggestions for clarifying the criteria for determining the right of asylum in the form of a convention and formulating strict review procedures.

Сertain types of administrative procedures regarding the formation and implementation of state policy in the sphere of social protection of persons with disabilities

The article reveals the peculiarities of certain types of administrative procedures regarding the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of social security for persons with disabilities.
 It was determined that certain types of administrative procedures regarding the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of social protection of persons with disabilities have an impact on such key issues as the lack of a single clearly defined model of state policy development; the presence of a large number of normative legal acts in the field of social protection of persons with disabilities, which in practice has a negative effect on the process of realization by such persons of their rights and freedoms.
 It is emphasized that the development and formation of state policy depends on the state of affairs management in its territory and the ability of the authorities to responsibly and effectively manage the spheres of people’s lives, especially persons with disabilities.
 Considered such separate types of administrative procedures as: rule-making, establishment and approval procedures. In particular, it is stated that the main purpose of rule-making is the formulation of new legal norms that are inherent in social relations, that is, the modeling of social relations that are acceptable or necessary from the standpoint of the state or civil society. Attention is drawn to the fact that compliance with the procedure for review, adoption and entry into force of normative legal acts is one of the conditions for the legality of the rule-making process.
 It was determined that the establishment procedures relate to the activities of bodies of the appropriate level regarding the creation, reorganization, liquidation of organizational structures of bodies that directly implement state policy in the field of social protection of persons with disabilities.
 It was emphasized that the main purpose of conciliation procedures is to streamline the issuance of conciliation documents and to introduce the main principles of state policy on the conciliation system in the field of social protection of persons with disabilities.
 It was concluded that the rule-making, establishment and approval procedures in the field of social security of persons with disabilities represent a systematized set of actions regulated by legislation, which establish a legal framework, influence the creation, reorganization, liquidation of organizational structures of bodies that directly implement state policy in the field of social security of persons with disabilities and regulate relations arising between bodies and entities that are participants in these legal relations and are directly related to the issuance of documents of a consensual nature.

Implementation of innovations in Ukraine during martial state

This scientific article is devoted to the identification of current problems of legislative regulation of priority areas of innovative activity in Ukraine and development of proposals for their solution. It emphasized the need for rapid development of the state program of objectives for forecasting the scientific, technological and innovative development of Ukraine for 2023-2032, which will contribute to the formation of financial opportunities for the development of the national innovation system. Arguments are given that increasing the level of innovative development of Ukraine in the war and post-war period will contribute to: simplification of review and agreement procedures; aligning the content of legislative acts regulating the determination of priority areas of innovative activity; operational development of the state target program, which would determine the most promising directions for the development of scientific, technological and innovative activities. The obtained results allow us to conclude on the expediency of deploying a single national strategy for the development of innovative activity, which would allow clearly defining its objectives, priorities, resources, mechanisms of implementation and control, etc., as well as the "Strategic plan for overcoming the economic crisis in Ukraine for 2023-2025".

Fallacies in Sustainability: a Systematic Review

Objective: To analyze the trends of academic productions on the fallacies enunciated in the sustainable discourse. Method: The procedures of an systematic review were used, with the help of Rayyan® software in the selection and organization of articles, then, through a qualitative analysis, the themes were separated into approaches and the fallacies mentioned were verified. Results and conclusion: Four types of fallacious approaches were identified in the context of business debate, namely: the quality of information; the identification of fallacies; fallacious behavior and impression management. This last approach being the fallacious theme most associated with corporate sustainability. Research implications: The research aims to contribute to the improvement of preparers in disclosures, emphasizing the importance of consistent disclosure. In addition to allowing the user of the information to become aware of possible fallacious methods, the accuracy of the stakeholders in the analysis can be increased and, finally, emphasize the socio-environmental responsibility of companies before society. Originality/value: Addressing this topic has become relevant given the non-standard scenario regarding corporate sustainable disclosures, in addition to the recent proposal under consideration for an international standard on these aspects.

Quality characteristics and relevance to care of psychodynamic training outpatient clinics:The QVA Project

Introduction: Quality assurance (QA) in outpatient psychotherapy is currently undergoing a process of change. Hitherto, QA has been conducted by means of an expert review procedure (the so-called "Gutachterverfahren"), inter- and supervision as well as further mandatory training. Data-based QA systems have been increasingly discussed in recent years. On behalf of the G-BA, the IQTIG has recently published a draft of a legally binding QA procedure, which has, however, raised substantial concerns and resistance. Design: TheQVA project has two objectives. First, it provides participating training outpatient clinics with a data-driven QA system that enables an automated and risk-adjusted overall evaluation based on relevant patient and referral parameters. Second, the data is used to conduct research on important issues regarding the relevant psychotherapeutic care provided by outpatient clinics. Results: Since the start of data collection in 2022, n = 2058 patients have been recruited so far (March 2023), and a complete baseline diagnostic report has been generated for n = 1112 patients. The cross-sectional analyses of all patients assessed so far show a high burden of depression, interpersonal problems and impaired quality of life with severe impairment of personality functions, pronounced conflict diagnosis and high utilization of inpatient and day hospital treatments. Discussion: This paper describes an easy-to-implement data-based QA system for psychodynamic training outpatient clinics, while at the same time allowing for the examination of healthcare- relevant questions in a large sample. The first experiences show that the system works technically stable and was well-received by the participating outpatient clinics.

Qualitative health research and procedural ethics: An interview study to investigate researchers’ ways of navigating the demands of medical research ethics committees in Germany

This study explores how qualitative health researchers navigate the demands of medical research ethics committees in Germany where qualitative research is subject to approval only when it is conducted in medical contexts. We present the results of a grounded theory study to investigate qualitative health researchers’ experiences with procedural ethics and the strategies they adopt to navigate its demands. Our analysis revealed six dimensions of experience and three strategies adopted by researchers to navigate the demands of medical research ethics committees. All participants agreed that research ethics is of high importance in qualitative health research, but strategies to navigate the demands of medical research ethics committees ranged from avoiding, and adapting, to transforming the procedures of ethics review. Based on our findings, we provide recommendations for improving the ethics review of qualitative health research.

Consumer Acceptance of Fintech App Payment Services: A Systematic Literature Review and Future Research Agenda

This research has undertaken a systematic literature review (SLR) of articles focusing on the acceptance of fintech payment services by identifying 84 peer-reviewed articles published in international scientific journals from 2015 to April 2023. This paper uses the Scientific Procedures and Rationales for Systematic Literature Reviews (SPAR-4-SLR) protocol to gather relevant articles and the theory, context, constructs, and methodology (TCCM) framework to analyse them. The conducted SLR has several findings. First, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is the main theory used to examine consumers’ acceptance of fintech payment services. Second, studies in this area have been conducted in 24 countries, with a focus on Indonesia, Malaysia, and China. The study themes identified include fintech payment apps, Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), mobile payment, fintech services, e-wallet, and Islamic Fintech. Third, the perceived usefulness, trust, perceived ease of use, and attitude are the four main constructs found to have a significant association with behavioural intention. Finally, most studies (64) rely on quantitative methods, particularly questionnaires. Based on the findings, this study identifies research gaps and provides a future research agenda. The review also has practical implications for policymakers and corporations in developing strategies and policies promoting the acceptance of fintech payment services. Limitations include B2C focus, exclusion of B2B behavior, lack of targeting specific user demographics, and reliance on secondary data. These present opportunities for further research.

Technical specifications for ethics review of human stem cell research.

The rapid advancement of human stem cell research and its expansion into emerging areas has resulted in an escalation of ethical challenges associated with these studies. As a result, there has been a corresponding increase in both the volume and complexity of institutional ethics reviews, coupled with higher expectations for the quality of the review process. In response to these challenges, this standard provides a comprehensive outline of the fundamental principles, content, types, and procedures of ethics review, specifically focusing on non-clinical human stem cell research. Its purpose is to provide clear operational and procedural guidelines, as well as recommendations, for the ethics review of such studies. The document was originally published by the Chinese Society for Cell Biology on August 30, 2022. It is our hope that the publication of these guidelines will facilitate the integration of ethical considerations and evaluations in a structured manner throughout the entire process of stem cell research, ultimately fostering a healthy and orderly development of the field.

Justice and ethics in conservation remote sensing: Current discourses and research needs

Advances in remote sensing are transforming research and practice in biodiversity conservation. But the increasing use of these technologies and data also provokes major ethical and social justice questions. In this scoping review, we examine the extent to and ways in which ethics and justice are discussed in relation to uses of remote sensing in conservation. Our literature search identifies only 31 peer-reviewed English language papers containing substantive discussion of justice and/or ethics and conservation remote sensing. Within these papers, emergent themes and tensions include the use of remote sensing technologies for surveillance (and the extent to which this is framed as positive or negative), the militarised associations of remote sensing technologies, the ways that remote sensing technologies can disrupt or harden power asymmetries, and whether the greatest ethical risks or benefits are seen as being for people or other species. Building on recommendations identified in this review, we reflect on how conservation can learn from work on data ethics in other fields, such as the ethics of artificial intelligence. We also discuss the mechanisms (such as formal laws, journal review procedures, and greater individual reflexivity) which could support the use of remote sensing technologies and data to advance socially just conservation. Finally, we highlight research priorities including the need for more comparative case study analyses, greater research efforts on the political economy and geopolitics of conservation remote sensing, and work which situates novel technologies within longer-standing debates about ethics and philosophies of biodiversity conservation.

A - 1 Acculturation's Effect on Neuropsychological Test Performance: a Systematic Review.

Acculturation is not thought to reflect one's brain function; however, numerous studies have shown that less acculturated adults perform worse on neuropsychological tests. This study systematically reviews the effect of acculturation on neuropsychological tests in healthy adults. This systematic review was registered in Prospero (CRD42020196578) with the defined review procedures. It included studies with healthy adults and relational data between neuropsychological test scores and acculturation. 13,945 studies were screened studies and 8 met inclusion criteria. After accounting for demographic factors (including education), acculturation was a positive predictor of performance on tests of dementia screening, processing speed, attention, executive functioning, language, and memory. This relationship remained after accounting for both demographic factors and English Fluency, and specifically on tests of IQ, language, and visuoconstruction. These results support measuring and considering acculturation when interpreting both verbal and "non-verbal" test results. At a minimum acculturation should be factored into test selection, normative selection, and clinical judgment. Looking forward it is hoped that new norms and tests will be developed to eliminate the effect of one's culture on test performance.

Impact of statin on renal cell carcinoma patients undergoing nephrectomy. Does it affect cancer progression and improves survival? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is regarded as one of the most common malignant tumors. Various concomitant medications in RCC patients undergoing surgery are investigated to explore the potential for improving survival and preventing disease recurrence, including statin. It has been observed that these drugs induce apoptosis, thereby inhibiting tumor growth and angiogenesis. We aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to enhance the level of evidence for statin in RCC. A systematic literature search was conducted in several online databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Sciencedirect, using terms relevant to the use of statins in RCC patients undergoing nephrectomy for publications published up to July 2023, according to a registered review procedure (CRD42023452318). The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to assess the risk of bias of the included study. Review Manager 5.4 was used for all analyses. Seven articles was eligible for our study. The analysis revealed that patients receiving statin had a better overall survival compared to patients who does not receive statin (HR 0.71, 95% CI 0.51-0.97, p = 0.03, I2 = 76%). However, there was insignificant difference in terms of CSS, DFS, and PFS between RCC patients receiving statin and without statin. Statin has substantial benefits for improving OS. Even though the outcomes for CSS, DFS, and PFS were insignificant, the potential role of statins as a supplementary therapy in surgically treated RCC still requires further investigation.

Upgrading MSW pyrolysis oil through distillation and hydrotreatment for automobile engine applications: A short review

The demand for fossil fuel in today’s world is increasing at a higher pace with rapid population growth and industrial development. The reserve for petroleum-based fossil fuels is finite which necessitates the search for alternative fuels. Pyrolysis oil obtained from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) has drawn the attention of many researchers because of their high heating value and similar fuel properties with commercial automobile fuel and has potential to substitute commercial diesel fuel. Nevertheless, the crude oil obtained from pyrolysis of MSW has some shortcomings such as higher viscosity and density, lower flash point and cetane index, unpleasant odor, and higher sulfur content, preventing its useability as a drop in fuel for automobiles at present. In this short review, distillation and hydrotreatment post treatment procedures, amongst many others, are discussed for improving the properties of pyrolysis crude oil. Focus has been given on waste plastic and waste automobile tire pyrolysis oils as they constitute a significant amount of MSW currently. This review reported that noticeable improvement of the properties (cetane number, flash point, viscosity, and sulphur contents) of crude pyrolysis oil (PPO or TPO) can be achieved through distillation and/or hydrotreatment, which are comparable to the properties of standard diesel.

An Open Label, Multi-center, Controlled, Retrospective Study of a Biodegradable Synthetic Graft for Soft Tissue Reconstruction in Patients Suffering from Chronic Lateral Ankle Instability

Category: Ankle; Sports Introduction/Purpose: Ankle sprains represent one of the most common injuries among both athletes and the general public (1). While most sprains resolve with conservative therapy, failure resulting in ligament laxity may necessitate surgical intervention due to pain and instability from injury to the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL), the weakest ligament in the lateral ligamentous complex (2). Surgical repair of ATFL has relatively high success rates, however post-procedure chronic instability and pain remain a clinical challenge, with re-operation rates reported as high as 14% (3). The Artelon® FlexBand® matrix is a biocompatible, synthetic matrix designed to reinforce soft tissue repair during tendon/ligament reconstructive procedures. The goal of this study is to compare the outcomes of ATFL reconstructive surgery with and without this synthetic graft augmentation. Methods: This multi-center, IRB approved study used a combination of retrospective medical chart review and prospective procedure satisfaction phone surveys in patients that had undergone ATFL repair (isolated and non-isolated) with or without synthetic graft augmentation. These results represent an interim data analysis of an ongoing clinical study. A total of 234 patients, (82 Control and 152 FlexBand augmented) diagnosed with chronic lateral ankle instability that had failed conservative therapy, and required surgical intervention to repair the lateral ligament complex were enrolled across four different research centers. Patient demographics, physician assessment of healing progression, safety, complications necessitating a return to OR, and post-op rehabilitation schedule were analyzed. Two study sites used Visual Analog Scale (VAS) to assess pain pre-surgically and at 2, 6, and 12 week follow-up visits. Phone survey questionnaires were given to patients that reached at least 1yr post-op to assess long-term patient satisfaction and function. Results: Average patient age was 42yrs in both groups and average follow-up time was 19.2mo (FlexBand) and 28.4mo (Control). There was no statistical difference in baseline VAS pain scores between groups. Augmented patients demonstrated significantly lower VAS scores at 2-,6-, and 12-week follow-up visits (p < 0.001, p< 0.0001and p< 0.0001, respectively) compared to controls (Fig 1). In addition, a significant acceleration in return to FWB status in augmented group compared to control patients was observed (9.04 ± 0.38wks, N=101 vs. 11.82 ± 1.67wks, N=45; p = 0.027). Both groups demonstrated equivalent AE safety profiles and complications were similar across groups with 3.7% (3/82) of control and 3.9% (6/152) augmented patients requiring a return to OR, however, no AEs or complication events were related to the Flexband Device. Conclusion: Our data shows a significant reduction in VAS pain scores in patients who underwent the modified Brostrom procedure with augmentation at all follow up time points. In addition, synthetic graft augmentation may lead to earlier return to function due to the significantly lower time to achieve FWB status. Further investigation on the potential clinical benefits of ATFL augmentation with Artelon Flexband is ongoing through a prospective, randomized, controlled study. Overall, long-term (>1yr) patient satisfaction was equivalent across groups and a trend toward potential earlier recovery times were better for the augmented group than the control group.

DATA MINING ALGORITHMS FOR PREDICTION OF STUDENT TEACHERS’ PERFORMANCE IN ICT: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

Poor ICT performance in teacher training colleges makes it more difficult for the majority of teachers to successfully use ICT resources in their teaching and learning. When teachers can efficiently utilize ICT resources, it empowers them to update their knowledge through online learning, consequently enhancing the overall quality of teaching and learning. This positive outcome can be observed through improved ICT performance. The aim of this article is to identify the appropriate Data Mining algorithms for predicting student teachers’ performance in ICT. The systematic literature review that was guided by the PRISMA statement 2020 served as the study methodology. It makes for clear reporting and offers a detailed checklist and flow diagram that direct the review procedure. On November 6, 2022, about 196 scholarly articles were downloaded from three digital libraries: Science Direct (38), ACM Digital Library (72), IEEE Xplore (51), and 35 from the Google Scholar search engine. After screening and eligibility checking, 28 scholarly articles were selected and analysed through content analysis in terms of the most commonly used algorithms, the year of publication, the study purposes, and the accuracy performance metrics. Considering the specific study findings represented quantitatively, Decision Trees and Naive Bayes were found to be the most commonly used Data Mining algorithms, with a count of 20.6% each. The most recently identified articles were published between 2014 and 2022. In terms of study purposes, a large number of studies focused on predicting student performance. Furthermore, about 6 out of 8 algorithms used in previous studies were found to score 80% or above in the average percentage of the highest and lowest accuracy metrics. Therefore, considering the general findings, the study identified five Data Mining algorithms as appropriate and most commonly used for prediction of student teachers’ performance in ICT. They are Naive Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbour, Support Vector Machine, Random Forest, and Decision Tree. The findings of this study would assist the government, college tutors, and student teachers in making better decisions to improve ICT performance for pre-service and in-service teachers.

Open innovation and firm performance in emerging economies: a bibliometric and TCCM analysis review

PurposeCompared to their counterparts in developed economies, businesses established in emerging economies continuously struggle due to resource and time constraints. Open innovation (OI) allows these firms to bridge the gap and advance towards technological advancements; however, the scholarly knowledge on the subject is not systematized. Thus, this study synthesizes the extant literature, proposes a framework and highlights future research avenues for domain advancements.Design/methodology/approachBased on the Scientific Procedures and Rationales for Systematic Literature Reviews (SPAR-4-SLR) framework, the study evaluates 79 journal publications from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS). The bibliometric analysis highlights annual publication trends and research clusters, whereas TCCM analysis provides deep analysis into applied theories, context and characteristics, i.e. OI–performance linkage, barriers, mediators and moderators, followed by employed methodologies in the domain.FindingsThe bibliometric results showcase a rising publication trend, significant research clusters and trends, whereas the content analysis via TCCM framework identifies theories, contexts and methodologies employed in the domain. In terms of characteristics, the OI–performance relation and barriers at diverse levels, followed by the moderating and mediating mechanism, are further explained in detail.Originality/valueThis is the first study to examine OI and firm performance in the context of emerging economies and employ rigorous frame-based bibliometric and content analysis measures, establishing the foundations for a comprehensive understanding.
