A one-dimensional model in Python was developed to analyze the acoustic behavior of the Kurdish wind instrument, the şimşal. This model was developed using the Transmission Matrix Method (TMM), which was refined by taking into account the external interactions between the open tone holes. This research focuses on the acoustic resonator part of the şimşal with the lattice of finger holes in different cross-fingering patterns. The results were validated by measurements using an impedance probe, CapteurZ, which was developed by LAUM[1] and CTTM[2] The results are in good agreement with the measurement and despite the possible sources of error, which are discussed, the deviations are within an acceptable range.
