Workshop on Compiling Scientific Articles and Processing Quantitative Data for Publication in Reputable Journals at the Indonesian Students Association in Thailand (PERMITHA)

The purpose of Community Service to improve the skills and knowledge of Indonesian students who are members of PERMITHA in compiling scientific articles and processing quantitative data, so that they can produce scientific works that are worthy of being published in reputable international journals such as Scopus. This activity was carried out on May 15, 2024 which was attended by around 20 participants held at SEA JUNCTION Bangkok Thailand. The results of the respondent data analysis found an increase in the understanding and motivation of training participants. Participant responses were dominated by positive responses to the quality of the Trainer, the quality of the training material, the quality of the facilities and accommodation provided in the training activities

Inhibiting Factors The E-Government Development in Indonesia from 2010-2020: A Systemic Review

This research aims to determine the factors inhibiting the development of e-government in Indonesia because Indonesia is one of the countries that has the potential to develop e-government well. However, in practice, the Indonesian government still often experiences problems in developing e-government. To find out the factors inhibiting e-government development in Indonesia, the author conducted a literature review of various research articles on e-government development in Indonesia from 2010 to 2020. We reviewed English language articles published in reputable international journals indexed by Scopus at least Q3, and procedia with Hi-Index value above 50. These articles were obtained from Science Direct, Emerald Insight, Taylor and Francis, and Google Scholars. The author found 40 articles that were relevant to the data need and made a mapping. The research results found seventeen factor inhibiting the development of e-government in Indonesia, these factors are technical and non-technical.

Using Interactive Multimedia to Stimulate Early Childhood Students’ Speaking Skills: A Systematic Review

Interactive multimedia is currently a significant topic in terms of learning speaking skills. This study aims to describe the use of interactive multimedia in stimulating early childhood speaking skills based on a literature review that has been conducted. The study method used in this literature study is the PRISMA (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses) method. Data was obtained from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases using scientific articles from reputable international journals with the Scopus Q1–Q4 index. Article searches using the title and keywords “Interactive Multimedia,” “Multimedia,” “Interactive Multimedia in Early Childhood,” or “Speaking Skills” are limited to the last ten years, starting from 2013–2023. The findings showed that the articles in the source database were 10.982 articles, and the final selected papers left 40 articles for review. The results of the study found that: a) the use of interactive multimedia in early childhood learning is dominated by Android-based interactive multimedia (50%), video (30%), and animation (20%); b) the use of interactive multimedia in stimulating early childhood speaking skills is dominated by android media (45%), video (40%), and animation (15%); c) the challenges faced when using interactive multimedia in early childhood learning are limited infrastructure and resources, and not all schools have adequate facilities for the use of technology-based learning media and a lack of teacher creativity. The contribution of this research can provide insight into the use of interactive multimedia to stimulate early childhood speaking skills effectively and efficiently. Thus, the use of interactive multimedia can be a research target in selecting interactive multimedia that is appropriate and effective for stimulating students’ speaking skills at all levels of education and on different research topics.

A Proposed Frame Work for Enhancing Competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are important agents of development throughout the world. Promoting a country’s SME sector plays a crucial role in maintaining high employment and income generation and is therefore critical for achieving sustainable grow by enhancing SMEs competitiveness. The general objective of this paper is to develop a theoretical frame work model for garment SMEs competitiveness that supports garment manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their competitiveness by identifying the possible competitiveness factors. To achieve the presented objectives, a purposive sample basis on selected garments manufacturing SMEs found at three different clusters in Addis Abeba city administration is used. The data in this paper are both primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected though questionnaires, interviews and observations, while secondary data sources referred from company’s documents and several articles from reputable international journals. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches are used to analyse the collected data using various statistical programs. The results of the paper found that in garment manufacturing SMEs the main difficulties faced in performance dimension which is divided into financial performance and non-financial performance are the lack of collateral, the lack of proven track records, the lack of proper business plans and the need to show good sales turnover are the major financial performance parameters that deters the competitiveness. The SMEs do not have well established system to support effective and efficient implementation systems for productivity improvement. Finally the garment manufacturing SMEs are potentially wasting valuable and scarce resources since they don’t implement productivity improvement tools and techniques Lack of appropriate machinery and equipment are the main non-financial performance parameter that deters the competitiveness. To tackle the problems and enhance competitiveness of garment manufacturing firms, a theoretical conceptual model based on this requirement has been developed and the implementation requires a coordinated and well organized system among the actors (at macro and micro level) in the value chain. Some of the major problems such as lack of skilled manpower and infrastructure have to be tackled by the government and private sectors. And the other problems could be approached by using some modern management philosophies (such as just-in-time manufacturing, business process re-engineering, lean production) and scientific methods like production planning and control.

The Rhetorical Structure of Method Section of Research Articles in Reputable International Journal of ELT Published in Indonesia

This study investigated the rhetorical structure of method section in English language teaching articles. A corpus consisting of 80 research articles in reputable international journal of English language teaching published in Indonesia was systematically sampled to serve as data input for analysis. The results showed that the method section of English language teaching articles were characterized by structural complexity and rich, nuanced descriptions. English language teaching researchers generally used three rhetorical moves to realize the overall communication goal of the methods section: 1) Describing the research design, 2) Describing the data collection procedures, and 3) Describing the data analysis procedures. While Move-1 was a Conventional move and did not have constituent steps, the second and third Move have a series of constituent steps, with Move-2 was an Obligatory move and the Move-3 was a Conventional. The most hypothetical model of method section in the results of this research were Describing research design (M1), Describing the Data Collection Procedure (M2): Describing the Samples (Move 2- Step B), Describing Research Instruments (Move 2- Step C), Elaborating on Data Collection Procedure (Move 2-Step D), and Describing the Data Analysis Procedure (Move 3): Relating (or recounting) data analysis procedure/s (Move 3- Step A). These Moves and Steps provide very detailed information on various aspects of the methodology. The Dynamics of the Islamic Education System in Shaping Character

<p><em>This research was written to describe the dynamics of the Islamic education system in shaping national character and its philosophical values in realizing harmony among religious communities. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research employing Systematic Library Review (SLR) literature sources from several journals, books, and proceedings related to the topic of discussion. The stages of literature mapping gone through in this research were identification, screening, feasibility, and inclusion. Meanwhile, the references used in this research were limited only to reputable international journals. Based on the results of data analysis, it was uncovered that character education is a basic principle that every individual must possess because the character is the main determinant of the good and bad of a person's attitudes, behaviors, and speech. The findings that can be contributed to this research are strengthening character as a projection for the 21st century to become one of the pillars of changing times, which is the main representation of educational success, including moral character and performance character. Moral character is related to faith, honesty, piety, humility and compassion. In addition, the performance characters are hardworking, tenacious, tough, not giving up easily, thorough, and have high loyalty. In the national context, character education is crucial, as the nation's generation is directed to have personality values, which include national values, religious values, integrity values, independence values, and mutual cooperation values.</em></p>

Arguments in the methods section of journal articles in English language education published in high-impact journals

Discourse studies on the methods section of research articles have been mainly conducted on the macrostructure (i.e. moves and steps) of the section, while none have researched further how authors justify the research methods/design. This is crucial because if the method is not convincing, readers may not accept the research findings and will not use them in their own studies. The purpose of this research is to know what research method is often used by the expert authors in English language education articles published in high-impact journals, what elements of research methods are often presented in the methods part of these journal articles and how authors justify the choice of their research method in the methods section of their journal articles. Sixty articles published in six different reputable international journals were chosen to be included in this study. The results show that qualitative design is the most frequently used by the authors, while quantitative and mixed methods are used equally frequently. The most frequent elements presented in the methods section of the articles are participants, data analysis procedures, data collection procedures, and research instruments. Finally, the majority of the authors do not explicitly justify the choice of their research method although some of them do by citing a research methodology book. It can be concluded that the features of the methods section in the journal articles vary widely between journals and from one method/design to the other.

Empirical Investigation into Collaborative Model Development for Resolving Tenure Conflicts in Forested Regions

Tenure conflict is a challenge and dilemma experienced by many countries. The dilemma is because on the one hand, there is an interest in preserving forests, on the other hand, there are claims to land ownership in forest areas long before they are designated as forest areas. The next dilemma is that the party claiming property rights is generally used for agricultural activities which have been the main livelihood for generations. This study tries to examine the incidence of tenure conflicts in various countries to map how these conflicts occur, the factors that encourage land tenure approaches in resolving them, and government (state) policies. Using secondary data resulting from a review of previous research published in reputable international journals and other reliable and credible reports. The review study model used is systematic with meta-synthesis. Apart from journals, secondary data comes from other reliable and credible reports. Data and materials consist of 67 reputable international journals and 14 books/reports published in the last ten years. The results of the analysis found that tenure conflicts were caused by many things, motivated by the ownership and interests of natural resources specifically for agriculture for the lives of the surrounding community. An interesting fact is that the handling of tenure conflicts in several countries is considered successful, marked by the provision of access to forest management ownership. Other studies such as those conducted in Latin America, Africa, and Asia offer partnership models to resolve tenure conflicts. Similar things have also been done in Indonesia but have not been completely successful. Learning from this, this research offers a model for developing forest management partnerships to resolve tenure conflicts in forest areas, while also accommodating special agricultural activities for local communities. The model offered theoretically complements and/or perfects the models used so far which have proven unsuccessful in resolving conflicts. The practical implications are a reference for the government and interested parties to resolve tenure conflicts so that forests are maintained and can provide benefits for community welfare.

Impactful Contributions: Sharia Banks in Advancing Agricultural and Agribusiness Development, Empowering MSMEs and Enhancing Human Resources Management

The development of Islamic economics and Sharia banking has a long history, with many believing its origins trace back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad. Sharia banks now play a role in financing the agricultural industry for micro, small, and medium enterprises in countries with the largest Muslim populations and are agriculture-based. At the same time, there are challenges in terms of improving management in the human resources aspect. For example, intention and awareness are two things that have been revealed by many previous studies in maximizing market and customer control, especially in Sharia banking. Intention and awareness were reportedly influenced by religiosity, product knowledge, and word of mouth. This research tries to review how Islamic banks operate; their role in agriculture and agribusiness; and their role in developing MSMEs. Finally, examining the relationship between intention and awareness is reported to be influenced by religiosity, product knowledge, and word of mouth in Islamic banking. Using a systematic review approach based on secondary data in the form of reputable international journals registered in international databases. There are 15 journals related to the development of Islamic economics and the role of Sharia financial financing. The role of Islamic banks in the development of agriculture and agribusiness is 36 journals. The role of Islamic banks in developing MSMEs is 46 journals. There are 64 journals covering the topic of Sharia banking human resource development. The results of the analysis found new information in terms of theoretical and practical development, that Islamic banks have proven to play a role in the development of agriculture and MSMEs, but there are still weaknesses in terms of service innovation. Then, in terms of human resources for Sharia banking services, it focuses on Total Quality Management, that Sharia banks must improve human resource capabilities in service with the main topic of analysis "the influence of religiosity, product knowledge and word of mouth in forming the intentions and awareness of sharia bank customers".

PENINGKATAN PEMAHAMAN PENELITI MENGENAI ASUMSI FILOSOFIS “POSITIVIST SOCIAL SCIENCE” DALAM PEMILIHAN DESAIN PENELITIAN KUANTITATIF

Understanding the philosophical assumptions in social research, whether “positivist” or “interpretive,” is crucial as these foundations shape the way researchers approach, design, and conduct their studies, impacting every aspect from the selection of research design to the interpretation of findings. This community service activity (PKM) focused on enhancing young researchers' understanding of “positivist social science” (PSS) assumptions in selecting quantitative research designs at PTN XYZ, a public university in Riau Province. Discussions with a faculty leader revealed difficulties in publishing quantitative research in reputable international journals, primarily due to a lack of understanding of these philosophical assumptions. To address this, the PKM team organized online training for 18 researchers, covering key topics such as the philosophical foundations of science, PSS approaches in social science, reasons for the acceptance or rejection of research reports by the scientific community, and the research process in quantitative design. The effectiveness of the training was evaluated using a pretest-posttest approach, with initial findings showing only 5% of participants correctly understood the reasons for using a quantitative design. However, post-training results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, ensuring the research contributes meaningfully and relevantly to the field. What are the valuable lessons from global research on environmental literacy in the last two decades? A systematic literature review

Publications on environmental literacy (EL) in reputable international journals have continued to increase and develop in the last two decades, making it interesting to study. This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to investigatively review various studies published in journals indexed in the Scopus database related to EL. The review focuses on publication trends and valuable lessons to be learned from global research over the past two decades. We used the phrase “environmental literature” in the Scopus disbursement menu and found 296 articles. The inclusion and exclusion model used is PRISMA, so only 37 articles met the criteria to be analyzed. Data shows that EL publications have fluctuated, starting to increase in number from 2017 to 2023 although it had decreased in 2021. EL publications are mostly researched using quantitative methods, and some with qualitative, mix-method, and R&D. The dominant name in EL studies is F. X. Bogner. The two main keywords related to the EL keyword are environmental education and knowledge. Most of the articles published are collaborative, both internationally and between universities within one country. We discussed the valuable lessons in question, namely the sample size, gender, institution level, and main goal of each article. These findings can serve as a consideration or baseline for researchers to study EL according to their respective interests, needs and missions.

Bibliometric Analysis of Research on Visual Impairment and Blindness: 2013-2022

This study aims to find out more details about the Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness (JVIB) published in 2013–2022, as seen from the distribution of documents per year, document type, open access type, author country, productive authors, citation analysis, article citation rate, journal cite score rate, publication trends based on keyword occurrence, and publication trends by year. The research employs bibliometric analysis, gathering data from the Scopus database on June 13, 2023. Data is then processed and analyzed using the Publish or Perish (PoP) and VOSviewer applications to visualize the results. The results concluded that JVIB is a reputable international journal with a Q3 rating managed by the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) with a frequency of publication of six times in one volume. A total of 686 documents have been published from 2013 to 2022, divided into articles, notes, editorials, letters, erratums, and reviews. America is the most dominant country, contributing a total of 490 documents. Emerson, R.W., became the most productive author with 50 documents. JVIB was cited 2710 times, with a per-article citation rate of 271.00, an h-index of 21, a g-index of 31, an hI, norm 12, HLA of 1.20, and hA-index 5. The current publication trend identified publications discussing vision rehabilitation.

The Influential Principles in Problem-Based Learning: A Systematic Review on English Language Learning

Since the beginning of its application, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been recognized for its success in improving the quality of learning in various disciplines from different countries. Then, it has been recommended to be applied in all levels of education, especially in higher education. Therefore, this review is aimed at exploring the most influential principles of PBL which give contribution to the success of the learning outcome in English language learning. This review was compiled based on the guideline from PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for systematic reviews and Meta-Analysis). Data was searched and collected from studies published from electronic data bases of reputable international journals issued from 2012 to 2020. From 105 articles in the same area of English language learning, 7 articles were chosen to match the purpose of this review. The 7 articles have the same research methodology (experimental study), in which the discussions of the articles are analyzed to find the most influential principles supporting the success of PBL for all level of education in English language learning. It was found that PBL has proven to be effective in English language learning for all levels of education. In addition, the review shows that all discussions of the articles state that there are five most influential principles of the PBL that give contribution to the success of the language learning, the incorporation of ill structured/real life problems, a student-centered approach, collaborative learning, problem solving, and critical thinking.

PROGRESIVITAS ILMU PENGETAHUAN DAN TEKNOLOGI DALAM PENGEMBANGAN KARAKTER PADA PESERTA DIDIK

This research aims to analyze research articles on the progressivity of the application of science and technology to the development of students' character This research is a literature study using the Narrative Literature Review method. Data sources come from reputable international journals contained in the Scopus database, accessed through scopus.com, using keywords that have been determined from the initial study, namely Science and Technology and character. The research period covered the last 4 years (2019-2023) and the scope in the country of Indonesia, where 4 articles were obtained that fit the research objectives. From the analysis of the journal articles, some important information was found, including the author's contribution, diagnostic methods used, and content relevant to the research topic on the relationship between Science and Technology and character. The results found are (1) Using ICT-based Learning Media in introducing and teaching about the character of environmental care to students (2) Using LCD media and learning resources from the internet for problem solving of moral and social situations represented visually in the form of animated sketches. (3) Using a digital technology-based evaluation system Automated Short Essay Scoring directly affects students' confidence and character (4) Implementing a 15-minute reading system using ICT by browsing learning websites before learning can increase confidence to learn.

Nomination and remuneration committee: a review of literature

PurposeThis paper aims to synthesize the diverse literature on nomination and remuneration committees and provide avenues for future research.Design/methodology/approachThis study provides a comprehensive literature review of theoretical and empirical studies published in reputable international journals indexed by Scopus.FindingsThe literature review reveals several aspects of the nomination and remuneration committee. These aspects have been classified into the definition of the nomination and remuneration committee, dimensions of the nomination and remuneration committee, measurement and research review results, reasons for conflict empirical findings, company dynamics and research on moderators, as well as recommending future research.Research limitations/implicationsOur literature review shows that nomination and remuneration committees play a role in improving board performance and company performance, reducing agency conflicts and improving corporate governance to provide implications for companies, regulators and investors and pave the way for future research.Originality/valueThis paper identifies issues related to nomination and remuneration committees, their theoretical and practical implications and avenues for future research.

The Role of Competitive Advantage in Supporting the Hospitality Industry: Bibliometric Analysis

This article aims to analyze the role of competitive advantage in the hotel industry using bibliometric analysis, assisted by the biblioshiny software. The scholarly articles analyzed were sourced from various reputable international journals indexed in the Scopus database. A total of 46 scholarly articles were analyzed and selected based on stringent criteria, aligned with the academic standards. The results of the analysis indicate that competitive advantage plays a central role for managers in enhancing the economy within the hotel industry sector through innovative and creative strategies, supported by sustainable practices.

Publishing a research paper in reputable journals: doctoral students’ perspectives

This study aimed to enquire about the English foreign language (EFL) doctoral students’ perspective, especially in the non-English department, concerning the Indonesian government policy, which obliges an article published in a reputable international journal as a requirement to receive a doctoral degree. Their challenges in publishing their papers in Scopus or Web of Science (WOS)-indexed journals and their resolutions were also analyzed. A mixed-methods technique was used to obtain quantitative and qualitative information. The study consisted of 57 respondents, comprising 25 males and 32 females, who were EFL doctoral students of education departments from five universities. The purposive sampling method with several criteria was used to determine the study participants. Data were then collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Subsequently, the findings showed that the policy of publishing a paper in Scopus or WOS-indexed journals to obtain an EFL doctoral degree was burdensome to the majority of the students. Other findings showed that the students faced several challenges in publishing their papers in these journals, including language problems, cost of publication, journal selection, lack of experience, duration to publish, writing difficulties, revising, and stress. The actions to resolve these challenges were also provided in this study.

Technology Transformation, Innovation, and Digital Economy Development in Developing Countries

The COVID-19 pandemic is a gateway for businesses to develop technology and embrace digitalization to remain competitive. Various results stated the important role of innovation and technology transformation as potent weapons for survival in this evolving landscape. This research analyzes the role of technology and innovation, especially in developing countries, with few articles researching this field. A systematic literature review that examined 84 articles from reputable international journals was used, with a particular emphasis on developing countries. This research aimed to conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing literature by using the keywords “technology”, “innovation”, and “digital economy” to identify gaps and generate fresh insights. The articles were collected from ProQuest, Google Scholar, and Scopus search engines and imported into Mendeley software for analysis using VOSviewer. The visualization results showed that SMEs were the most frequently mentioned keyword with 41 occurrences. This research contributed by providing opportunities in the form of new paths and variables rarely used for further analysis. There were also implications for organizational management, both in profit and non-profit organizations, to enhance technological capabilities, thereby improving business efficiency and sustainability.

Factors Affecting Treatment Adherence Among Patients with Tuberculosis in Indonesia: Literature Review

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death from infectious diseases in the world and Indonesia is the second largest contributor to TB cases after India. Treatment adherence problems are a major obstacle to TB elimination. The purpose of this Literature Review is to determine the factors that affect treatment adherence among TB patients in Indonesia.
 Methods: Literature obtained from Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar; published from 2018 – 2023, research from reputable international journals and from national journals at least with SINTA 3, located in Indonesia. Indonesian and English with full text of all types of research designs. Article selection was carried out using the method "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques.
 Results: A total of 225 articels were deemed appropriate for the topic, but only 15 articles were included based on inclusion criteria. It was found that there are several factors that affect treatment adherence in tuberculosis patients in Indonesia, namely: predisposing factors as many as 11 articles (age, education, occupation, knowledge, self-efficacy, concordance, health behavior, motivation, marital status, income level, drug side effects, already feeling cured, and duration of treatment). Reinforcing factors as many as 2 articles (family support). Enabling factors as many as 5 articles (the role of officers, reminder SMS messages from officers, health counseling, and distance of residence to health services).
 Conclusion: The most dominant factor affecting treatment adherence among tuberculosis patients in Indonesia is the Predesposising factors, namely education and sefl-efficacy.

Bibliometric Analysis: Collaboration Networks In Discovery Learning Research

This research identifies publications related to Discovery learning. Discovery learning is a learning model that encourages active learning in students through self-discovery and research so that the results achieved are long-lasting and difficult to forget. This research aims to identify and analyze articles researching Discovery Learning that have been published in several reputable international journals published in the 2014-2023 period, which was carried out using bibliometric studies. Bibliometric analysis produced four findings: publications about Discovery Learning in Scopus-indexed journals have been in a fluid and balanced pattern every year for the last ten years; 328 of the ten journals producing the most articles have been published. The top-ranked journal published 15 articles, and the tenth-ranked journal published five articles; The most citations occurred in articles published in 2020 with a total of 1101 citations. The most cited article was written by B.R. Goldsmith with 241 citations; The author's keywords that are most frequently used in the top three are discovery, machine, and machine learning
