The effect of the vacuum fluctuation corrections to the ground state properties of spherical nuclei is studied. The model used combines the relativistic Hartree approximation forA valence nucleons and the local density approximation for infinite number of Dirac sea nucleons. The results are compared with predictions of the Walecka mean-field theory (MFT) and the nonlinear model with scalar meson self couplings. The vacuum fluctuation corrections alone appeared to be unable to improve the MFT description of nuclei.
