Objective To explore the effect of information-motivation-behavioral skills model(IMB) on rehabilitation nursing in patients with first-episode schizophrenia. Methods A total of 99 patients with non-acute schizophrenia were divided into IMB model group and control group according to their families' wishes. The two groups received the routine anti-psychotic drugs maintenance therapy and the general psychological education. In addition, the study group received the IMB model nursing intervention, and the total following-up course was 1 year.Evaluation of mental health knowledge degree, ITAQ, SSRS, GSES, BPRS, treatment compliance and recurrence rate was conducted to two groups of patients in 6 and 12 months for grouping, discharge and follow-up visit. Results When grouping the patients, the scores of mental health knowledge degree and treatment compliance structure, ITAQ, SSRS, GSES and BPRS of patients in two groups had no statistical significance, and the differences were statistically significant(P>0.05). During the hospital discharge, the scores of mental health knowledge degree structure, ITAQ and GSES of patients in research group were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01). After 6 months and 12 months of follow-up visit, the subjective support and support availability of patients in research group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05, P<0.01). BPRS score was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01). Treatment compliance was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01), and recurrence rate was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion IMB model can provide system and targeted health education, secure the treatment adherence of non-acute term patients with schizophrenia, stabilize the condition, reduce the recurrent rate, and it can be used as an effective means to promote the rehabilitation of non-acute patients with schizophrenia.
