The half-life of the first 6+ state in 136Ce has been measured as T 1/2 = 41(12) ps using the γ-ray fast-timing technique with the ν-ball spectrometer at the ALTO Tandem Accelerator, Orsay, France. The states of interest in 136Ce have been populated via the 128Te(12C,4nγ) fusion-evaporation reaction. A comparison is made between the value obtained for the reduced transition probability B(E2;61+→41+) = 0.55(21) W.u. and the systematics of the region. In this work, half-lives for the 51− , 71− and 62+ states in 136Ce were also determined.
