Bad news: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has no information on “who drafted the questions and when,” according to an agency spokesman. He was answering our question about the “sex questions” that must be asked of patients to satisfy Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) requirements for recipients of SAMHSA grants (see “Sex questions SAMHSA grantees must ask cause hubbub: GPRA,” ADAW, March 28; https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.33387). These questions include how many times and what kind of sex with how many partners, including questions about oral, anal and vaginal sex and masturbation patients have engaged in. The entire GPRA tool, including its questions, must be used until the current tool expires Oct. 1, the spokesman told us last week.
