In spite of the widespread interest in gas hydrates, there are still many unsolved fundamental problems that hinder the development of these technologies. Key tasks are to reduce the cost of storage and transportation of gas hydrates in powder form or in the form of compressed tablets, to improve the energy conversion efficiency. Approximate models are obtained to describe the dissociation of methane gas hydrate in a wide range of negative temperatures for cases: diffusion, kinetic, and filtration models. The simulation takes into account the parameters: the powder layer thickness, the diameter of pores, the diameter of particles, the temperature, the pressure of the gas and the ambient medium, as well as the combined effect of the filtration resistance of the particle and the porous cylinder (a porous layer consisting of particles). The paper offers ways to reduce the rate of dissociation and increase the shelf life of gas hydrates. The results obtained can be applied to further improvement of the technology of storage and transportation of both artificial methane hydrate and natural gas hydrate.
