The role of cascades in void generation

Abstract The role of radiation cascades in void generation is investigated theoretically. Three following effects are pointed out: (i) decrease of surviving point defects due to recombination in cascade region; (ii) decrease of time of stable void formation; (iii) increase of the number of stable void. The last two effects are due to defect clustering in cascade region.
