Analysis of Customer Relationship Management at Animation Studio - PT Jiwa Muda Cipta Indonesia in Yogyakarta

The role and function of Public Relations (PR) in carrying out tasks in the marketing sector of a digital service company, namely Animation Studio. Nowadays, managing relationships with customers is more familiarly known as Customer Relationship Management (CRM). In CRM management, a series of flows have been arranged as mentioned by Buttle, namely analysis, resource development and implementation. The data obtained in this research is the result of observation, documentation and interviews with Marketing and CEO while carrying out research at the Animation Studio. It was found that analyzes covering portfolio and customer intimacy had been run on a strong basis and implemented quite well. Likewise, the development of resources that have been designed by the CEO to develop the network and add value propositions has been carried out systematically according to procedures. As for the implementation of CRM in Animation Studio, although it is quite good, it still needs to be developed further in terms of the process to further perfect CRM within the company.

Societal impact of Brand Public Relations on gender equality: evidence for a mediation-type mechanism

PurposeThe purpose of the project was to identify a mechanism of causal relationship between Brand Public Relations (BPR) and societal change in the perception of women gender roles.Design/methodology/approachExperimental evidence was obtained in three countries (N = 378) to examine the mechanism of societal impact of BPR. Effects of spillover of evaluations between two sub-brands of a house of brands company, caused by positive publicity about communication co-created by Public Relations (PR), were analysed.FindingsFindings supported the existence of a positive spillover of evaluations. A mechanism of the societal impact of PR was also captured: an indirect effect of news stories about a non-objectifying portrayal of women in the male reference brand on the typicality of a non-stereotypical women role in society was demonstrated.Research limitations/implicationsExperiments were conducted over a period of three years, during which publics perception of brands' communication about gender portrayal might have changed.Practical implicationsThe paper argues for greater recognition of brand public relations professionals as co-creators of promotional brand communication. It gives evidence that one of the unique competencies of BPR is insight into publics and predicting long-term consequences of brand communication.Social implicationsThe findings of the research project suggest a mediated nature of influence of BPR on the perception of typicality of gender (women) roles in society. PR communicators should learn what areas of practice of PR require specific skills for the function of PR to develop the new competence.Originality/valueThis paper is the first one that aimed at establishing a common terminological framework of the societal impact of public relations.

Public Relations and LGBTQ+ Equality Issues: Supporting the Rights and Representation of the LGBTQ+ Community in Media and Society

The function of Public Relations is very important in shaping public opinion, especially regarding sensitive issues such as LGBTQ+ equality. Since the representation and rights of the LGBTQ+ community are often still limited and biased in the media and society, it is important to examine further how public Relations can support advocacy for these communities. This study aims to investigate Public Relations strategies and actions that support LGBTQ+ equality and assess how effective they are in increasing the positive image of the LGBTQ+ community in the media and general public. This research focuses on identifying Public Relations actions that assist in accepting and respecting LGBTQ+ rights. The research methods used are quantitative and qualitative. This method was chosen for data collection and analysis involving interviews, media content analysis related to the LGBTQ+ equality campaign, and surveys regarding public perceptions of the campaign. The results of this research show that inclusive and educational communication strategies from Public Relations can increase awareness and support for LGBTQ+ issues. Campaigns that highlight personal stories, collaborations with influencers, and advocacy activities are effective in creating a more inclusive and empathetic dialogue in society. This research concludes that Public Relations plays a crucial role in supporting LGBTQ+ equality through effective and inclusive communication approaches. Strong collaboration between Public Relations practitioners, the media, and the LGBTQ+ community is needed to expand LGBTQ+ representation and rights. Public Relations serves as an important intermediary to promote better understanding and social acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Relations: Corporate Practices in Indonesia

The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought about significant changes in various industries, including public relations (PR) practices in companies. This research aims to explore the implementation of AI in corporate PR activities in Indonesia. Using a case study approach with in-depth interviews with PR practitioners from three major companies, this research reveals how AI is being used to optimise PR functions. The findings show that AI is primarily used to accelerate media and sentiment analysis, facilitate social media content management, and enhance personalisation and automation in marketing communications. However, there are still limitations to the implementation of AI due to resource constraints and regulatory factors. This research contributes to a better understanding of AI adoption in corporate PR practices in Indonesia and its future development potential. By examining real-world cases, it provides valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with using AI for strategic communication efforts in an emerging market context.

GOVERNMANET PUBLIC RELATIONS IN FACING POLITICAL YEAR: TRAINING FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF MAGETAN

The issues faced by Indonesia in the 2019 elections are likely to reemerge in the 2024 elections. In the 2019 elections, digital media became a highly effective tool for disseminating information related to politics and governance. Unfortunately, not all information available on digital media was accurate. Social media, in particular, saw a lot of misinformation and the spread of fake news (hoaxes). This led to a negative perception of the government among the public, which consequently influenced the opinions and political participation of Indonesian society. Therefore, a transformation is needed to support the formation of a positive government image. One of the strategies is maximizing government public relations. On August 8, 2023, the Communication Department at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Airlangga, held a community service activity on the topic of government public relations training in Magetan Regency to address the political year. The main target of this activity was government officials in Bulukerto Subdistrict, Magetan District, Magetan Regency. The implementation mechanism consisted of three stages. In the initial stage, the community service team conducted surveys and coordinated with local government officials to gain a detailed understanding. During this stage, the Communication Department observed the involvement and performance of government public relations to obtain an initial overview of the strategies or designs used for the training. Subsequently, it was decided that the activity would be conducted through seminars and workshops covering topics such as public speaking, digital government, corporate social responsibility, and government public relations. After the activity, an evaluation was conducted to measure its success. It is hoped that this activity can serve as a foundation for improving the function of government public relations in addressing the political year and can be a supportive factor in ensuring the success of the 2024 elections.

The banking industry, in practice, was established as the community's economic foundation that provides financial services expected to restore and enhance national and regional economic growth. Bank BPD DIY has a strategic role as a government partner and a motor accelerator of regional development in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. State civil apparatus (ASN) DIY is required to use Bank BPD DIY; it is necessary for customer relationship management (customer). This study aimed to find a model of customer relationship management of regional banks through public relations functions. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. The results of this study indicate that the customer relationship management model at Bank BPD DIY is carried out through three aspects. The first is to provide excellent service (excellent service), which is implemented by implementing the main values of Bank BPD DIY, namely respect, accuracy, modernity, trust, and reliability (friendly), providing funds and credit services, mobile banking, and customer service, and call center. As an e-commerce newcomer, the existence of public relations is needed by AladinMall by Mister Aladin to become a communication bridge between the company's internal external to the company. AladinMall by Mister Aladin in its structure does not yet have a public relations division because the scope of the company is still very small, however, the public relations function at AladinMall by Mister Aladin is still carried out, only this function is carried out by the Marketing Communications & Strategy division. The approach used in this research uses a qualitative approach, the data collection technique used is interviews with the Marketing Communication division which carries out the public relations function at AladinMall by Mister Aladin. Objective: The aim of this research is to define the role of media relations implementation at SKK Migas, Public Relations plays more of a role as a communication technician and facilitator. As a communications technician, Public Relations plays the role of creating and implementing Media Relations activities, where Public Relations is not placed as a source of information in Media Relations activities. Method: The research method used is a case study method, because this research aims to observe real events that occurred in media relations carried out by the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Activities to realize the program for handling oil reserves with stakeholders in Indonesia. The things examined in this research are related to the data and facts contained in the implementation of the Special Oil and Gas Working Unit program, a single 1 Million BPOD program. This research provides a relatively complete picture of what happened when the research was conducted. Results: The results of research on the program implementation process in operational activities in the upstream oil and gas industry are known to often encounter obstacles. The purpose of this research is to find out the public relations function and strategies by LPP TVRI East Kalimantan Station in order to build their image and evaluate their strategies. This research uses a qualitative approach method and used Image Restoration Theory. The results showed that LPP TVRI East Kalimantan Station made strategic efforts in accordance with the assumptions of image restoration theory. These strategies include socializing to not broadcasting discrimination, forming Fopersi, promoting through new media content, conducting assessments in employee recruitment, welcoming and accompanying guests to represent their image. It is undeniable that LPP TVRI East Kalimantan Station has not been maximized in applying its strategies because it does not yet have its own public relations division in implementing its public relations functions, resulting in overload in carrying out its duties. It is important for LPP TVRI East Kalimantan Station consistently implementing its strategies so they can achieve the goal of building a positive image and strengthening its role as a unifying medium for the nation.

In the era of globalization, the implementation of crisis management has become essential for ensuring the long-term viability of any organization. This paper seeks to provide novel qualitative findings regarding the significance of public relations in crisis communications strategies within organizations. This paper makes a significant contribution by offering a comprehensive review of the use of comprehensive crisis communication strategies throughout the governmental and corporate sectors across specific disciplines. The researcher employs a theoretical framework on problem management to examine the function of public relations in the context of strategic communication planning. The essay examines the function of public relations in strategic crisis communication, focusing on the viewpoints of public relations managers inside these businesses. The study included the use of 19 comprehensive electronic interviews to gather data from public relations managers working as public relations business consultants as well as in the governmental and commercial sectors. This study examines the many possibilities and problems associated with the implementation of strategic crisis communication planning within public relations departments. The article suggests that there is room for improvement in the implementation of crisis communication planning inside organizations. The Role Of Government Public Relations In Efforts To Prevent Early-Age Marriages

Child marriages are still common in Indonesia. In reality, early age marriage will have a negative impact on the perpetrators and this will affect their personal and social life, so that if this is not anticipated it will be miserable for the perpetrators, who are children who are still early age. Therefore the role of government Public Relations is very demanding. This is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using semi-structured interviews with 9 informants consisting of 3 women who were married under the age of 18, 4 teachers and 2 public relations staff of government institutions. This research shows that the operational strategy, persuasive and educative approach, responsibility approach and collaborative approach related to the underage marriage prevention program must be properly implemented in order to carry out the duties and functions of Public Relations in government institutions, so that the program's main objectives can be achieved.

“Everything Else is Public Relations” How Rural Journalists Draw the Boundary Between Journalism and Public Relations in Rural Communities

ABSTRACT Rural journalists are news professionals, but also citizens engaged in their communities. The function and purpose of local journalism and public relations have become interdependent as media and communication has become more digital. These relationships create some tensions and it is in this environment that rural journalists make daily choices to cover a story or run prepared content provided by an outside source. Through the lens of boundary work, this study explores how (N = 33) self-identifying rural journalists navigated this gray area and walked the line between creating authentic journalistic content and publishing public relations content. We found that in principle they identified stark boundaries between public relations and rural journalism based on journalistic norms, but in practice these journalists were often put in a position to engage in public relations work to support their communities.

Fostering strategic function of public relations corporate - communication in corporate culture practices

Background: Public relations and Culture are intertwined. Societal and corporate Culture influences public relations practices. Conversely, the existence of public relations influences organizational cultural practices and societal Culture. Regrettably, the human resource department has a more dominant role in corporate culture practices than the public relations department. It is mainly related to internalizing organizational values, while the public relations department supports the internalization program through internal corporate communication channels. Purpose: This paper examines public relations function in corporate culture practices based on stories and opinions from Indonesian communication practitioners. It focuses on three main research questions, first how and what the impacts of the existence of public relations – corporate communication to the development of corporate Culture; Second, what the functions of public relations are – corporate communication to support the building and changing corporate Culture; and third what factors influence the strategic function of public relations - corporate communication in corporate culture practice. Methods: This study employs qualitative methods through semi-structured interviews with public relations/corporate communication professionals working at different corporations and organizations. Results: Based on thematic analysis, the empirical findings revealed that cascading organizational values is still part of the human resource department’s primary job, while corporate communication is essential to echoing the key message. Determining the appropriate communication channels and corporate language is critical to ease misunderstandings amongst corporate members. Finally, the digital business environment frequently invites hostile situations, and therefore strong leadership and agile organization can preserve business sustainability. Conclusion: The influence of public relations is essential to orchestrate various internal communication channels. The agile organization provides ease of organizational bureaucracy in corporate culture practices. Implications: This initial finding contributes to the field of public relations – corporate communication to provide a balanced perspective from Indonesian practitioners.

Introduction: Since the 1960s the interest in measuring the function of public relations and corporate communication has noticeably increased, thus the emergence of proposals for measurement indicators simply followed suit. Some models that explored this activity have focused on analyzing the relationships established between an organization and its publics, while others have explored the concept of corporate reputation. Currently, this function is also monitored in social networks.
 Method and Analysis: The present study has delved into the structure of online reputation metrics listed by famous market research company Forrester that regularly publishes the state of the art for these types of tools (Liu, 2020; 2021). Delving further into previous descriptive research (Cuenca Fontbona, Matilla & Compte-Pujol, 2016), a descriptive study has been carried out of the websites of the organisations offering these metrics or "social listening platforms". Additional primary data has been collected through qualitative semi-structured interviews with communication professionals (N=180) from Lithuania in organizations of various sectors, in order to explore the level of awareness, adoption and usefulness of these online measurement tools for strategic decision making.
 Results: It can be firmly claimed that all these digital monitors stem from a tradition set on the construct of reputation, while relationships, the very essence of the public relations profession, are excluded. Besides, there is an enormous confusion of terminology and criteria about the variables used; the lack of a universally valid instrument is evident. The value proposition includes some type of exercise related to public relations and corporate communication, yet the “online” corporate reputation metrics fail to encompass the extensive multidisciplinary area of ​​action that these disciplines display.
 Conclusion: Although the management of intangible resources is a benchmark, these tools only provide quantitative information about the reputational image of a single stakeholder: consumers/customers, focusing on drivers related to the marketing and commercialization of the company’s products. Thus, they fail to provide comprehensive information on the reality of an organization’s corporate reputation.

Analysis of Public Relations Problems in Al-Falah Elementary School

Public relations has an important role in school organizations, but there are many problems in implementing the roles and functions of public relations at Al-Falah Elementary School. This will be the focus of study in this research. This research uses a qualitative approach, in which the researcher tries to describe what happened in the field (field facts) into a narrative. public relations has roles and functions including as a mediator with external parties, promoting the existence of schools and maintaining harmony with the community by sticking to the eight principles of public relations. As for carrying out his public relations duties at Al-Falah Elementary School, there are three main problems in carrying out their roles and functions, namely multiple positions, miscommunication and lots of extortion. The solution is to work with school principals, utilize technology and cooperate with authorized agencies.
