The quality of university educational programs on environmental and agrobiological focus in graduates’ opinion

The article presents the opinions of the of universities’ graduates in the South of Russia on the quality of the university educational programs on environmental and agrobiological focus. A brief review of publications conducted on the basis of systematic selection in the main knowledge-intensive databases confirms the relevance of the proposed research question. The assessment of the quality of training of agrobiological and environmental specialists is considered by the scientific community as a significant social and educational problem. The empirical part of the study examines the opinions of graduates of environmental and agrobiological educational programs in the South of Russia in terms of their assessments of the quality of education received. A total of 396 graduates took part in the survey. The results were processed in the SPSS Statistics program (version 24). The strategic vectors of increasing the quality of university educational programs in the field of ecology and agrobiology are: the development of competencies for environmentally safe and responsible entrepreneurship; international standardization of the quality of agricultural education to ensure the sustainable development of agricultural production, food and environmental safety; work with digital process assistants.

Immersive technologies as a promising mechanism to reduce the negative impact on natural and cultural tourist sites

Deterioration of architectural monuments, negative impact on natural monuments and closure of tourist sites, manifestations of over tourism negative consequences, transformation of consumer behaviour associated with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious diseases are only a small part of the global problems faced by the world tourism industry. The study aims to form a conceptual idea of the immersive technologies role in reducing the negative impact on natural and cultural tourist facilities, revealing their potential as a positive factor that affects consumer preferences and environmental awareness of potential tourists. The study analyzed statistical data allowing estimating the current state of the immersive tourism technologies market. Besides, the article analyses the degree of demand for these digital tools in various types of tourism in the context of the importance of preservation of cultural monuments and natural heritage on the basis of the survey of potential target audience. The authors provided a classification of immersive technologies in tourism, and evaluated the possibility of their integration into specific tourism products on the basis of existing successful implementation practices. As a result of the answers to the proposed research questions the authors conclude that immersive technologies have become an important factor that influence the decision to purchase a certain tourist product or service, as well as accelerates the probability of visiting a specific tourist attraction. This proves that in modern reality tourism is one of the key sectors of the economy, which focuses is not only on the experience economy, but also on ecological awareness of potential categories of tourists

Competency Development in Industrial Engineering and Related Academic Programs Regarding the Optimization of Production and Logistics Processes: The Case of Medellín

This study examines the correlation between the skills and competencies developed in engineering programs and those required by the most representative economic sectors in Medellín for optimizing their production and logistics processes. In general terms, this paper aims to contribute to the research on higher education institutions and the alignment of their programs with the expectations of businesses in emerging countries. Thus, the proposed research question is as follows: What is the systemic relationship between academia and businesses in Colombia regarding the development of skills and competencies related to the optimization of production and logistics processes? To address this question, the study methodology starts by defining the target population (Industrial Engineering and related academic programs) and the dialogue methods adopted. Subsequently, a morphological space is created to establish systemic interconnections among the study variables and factors. Finally, patterns and qualitative/quantitative relationships are identified and grouped into two drivers that support the optimization of production and logistics processes. These drivers, in turn, consist of five key driving variables: quality defects, work environment, information and communication technology usage, operation traceability, and logistics and planning. The results indicate a correlation of 60% between courses and job competencies, 85.71% between academic skills and job competencies, and 71.88% between courses and academic skills. These findings provide insights to enhance cooperation between the academic and business sectors and foster the development of new local competitive capacities.

Developing climate neutrality among supply chain members in metal and mining industry: natural resource-based view perspective

PurposeThis study aims to address three research questions pertaining to climate neutrality within the supply chain of metal and mining industry: (1) How can an organization implement practices related to climate neutrality in the supply chain? (2) How do members of the supply chain adopt different measures and essential processes to assist an organization in responding to climate change-related concerns? (3) How can the SAP-LAP framework assist in analyzing and proposing solutions to attain climate neutrality?Design/methodology/approachTo address the proposed research questions concerning climate neutrality, this study employs a case study approach utilizing the SAP-LAP (situation, actor, process–learning, action, performance) framework. Within the SAP-LAP framework, adopting a natural resource-based perspective, the study thoroughly examines the intricacies and interactions among existing situations, pertinent actors and processes that impact climate initiatives within a metal and mining company.FindingsThe study's findings suggest that organizations can achieve the objective of climate neutrality by prioritizing resources and capabilities that lead to reduced GHG emissions, lower energy consumption and optimal resource utilization. The study further proposes key elements that significantly influence the pursuit of climate neutrality within enterprises.Research limitations/implicationsThis study is one of the earliest contributions to the development of a holistic understanding of climate neutrality in the supply chain of the metal and mining industry.Practical implicationsThe study will assist practitioners and policymakers in comprehending the present circumstances, actors and processes involved in enterprises' supply networks in order to attain climate neutrality in supply chains, as well as in taking the right steps to enhance performance.Originality/valueThis study presents a climate neutrality model and provides valuable insights into emission management, contributing to the achievement of the climate neutrality objective.

Applications of constraint programming in production scheduling problems: A descriptive bibliometric analysis

Production scheduling is a class of widely studied combinatorial optimization problems. Given the complexity of the most addressed production environments several solution procedures have been proposed. In recent years, operational researcher practitioners have been paying attention to solving production scheduling problems using constraint programming, and growing interest in this research domain has been evidenced. The aim of this study is to report a descriptive bibliometric analysis of applications of constraint programming in production scheduling problems. The scope of the study is limited to reviewing 170 scientific papers published between 1992 and 2023 from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. In our proposed research questions, we could address the main topics studied, the most studied performance measures, and the profile of the analyzed documents. Furthermore, we could identify the main gaps and present suggestions for future research.

Reviewing China’s Unequal Education System Based on Ecological System Theory

Trends in the use of flipped classroom model and its effectiveness in higher learning education: A systematic review

A flipped classroom is an e-learning model that blends traditional face-to-face teaching and online teaching. It is gaining popularity in nowadays education systems. This review aimed to evaluate the research trends in the usage of flipped classrooms in higher learning education. During the review, sources were retrieved from various databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and ERIC to name a few. Using systematic search and selection methods to answer the proposed research questions regarding the types of methodological approaches that have been regularly used in the flipped classroom research; subjects of flipped classroom teaching practices have been widely researched; kind of technological platforms have been used in flipped classroom research; the outcomes of flipped learning research and the challenges encountered in flipped classroom implementation. The analysis showed that the quantitative methods are the most used while education is the subject most reported in flipped classroom research. Learning management systems are the most technological platforms that have been used in flipped classroom research. Academic achievement is the major learning outcome reported in the analysed flipped classroom research. The reluctance of instructors and students to adapt to new roles is among the challenges reported in the analysed reports. Overall flipped classroom model has a positive effect on students’ learning outcomes. Therefore it is encouraged to use the flipped classroom model taking into consideration the challenges reported to make it more effective.

HARKing can be good for science: Why, when, and how c/should we Hypothesizing After Results are Known or Proposing research questions After Results are Known

AbstractThis provocation challenges the current view that practicing HARKing (Hypothesizing After Results are Known) must be avoided under all circumstances. I explain why and under which circumstances scholars may be allowed, even encouraged, to follow this practice. I use the extant literature and specific cases to show how HARKing can help generate new and worthy knowledge, and why an outright ban on HARKing is wrong for the field of social sciences—and, particularly, for business and management studies. The argument expands the phenomenon to PARKing too (Proposing research questions After Results are Known). The implications for knowledge creation are critical because this practice could hinder research and might defy logic. This provocation is intended as a thought‐provoking exercise, hopefully leading to changes in the approach and mindset of scholars. HARKing could offer a major added value to the field as it helps to develop knowledge that, so far, has been blocked by attempts to ban HARKing, and thereby may help open new avenues for knowledge creation.

Real-Time Object Detection Based on UAV Remote Sensing: A Systematic Literature Review

Real-time object detection based on UAV remote sensing is widely required in different scenarios. In the past 20 years, with the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), remote sensing technology, deep learning technology, and edge computing technology, research on UAV real-time object detection in different fields has become increasingly important. However, since real-time UAV object detection is a comprehensive task involving hardware, algorithms, and other components, the complete implementation of real-time object detection is often overlooked. Although there is a large amount of literature on real-time object detection based on UAV remote sensing, little attention has been given to its workflow. This paper aims to systematically review previous studies about UAV real-time object detection from application scenarios, hardware selection, real-time detection paradigms, detection algorithms and their optimization technologies, and evaluation metrics. Through visual and narrative analyses, the conclusions cover all proposed research questions. Real-time object detection is more in demand in scenarios such as emergency rescue and precision agriculture. Multi-rotor UAVs and RGB images are of more interest in applications, and real-time detection mainly uses edge computing with documented processing strategies. GPU-based edge computing platforms are widely used, and deep learning algorithms is preferred for real-time detection. Meanwhile, optimization algorithms need to be focused on resource-limited computing platform deployment, such as lightweight convolutional layers, etc. In addition to accuracy, speed, latency, and energy are equally important evaluation metrics. Finally, this paper thoroughly discusses the challenges of sensor-, edge computing-, and algorithm-related lightweight technologies in real-time object detection. It also discusses the prospective impact of future developments in autonomous UAVs and communications on UAV real-time target detection.

Self-perception and self-concept of children and adolescents with Down Syndrome: a scoping review

Objective: the self-concept is the set of attitudes and values about oneself. Self-perception, on the other hand, is understood as a multidimensional construct composed of several domains of the human being. Considering people with Down Syndrome, this scoping review maps evidence on self-perception and self-concept in children and adolescents with Down Syndrome. Method: this review followed Arksey & O'Malley's proposal and The Joanna Briggs Institute Manual for Evidence Synthesis. The proposed research question was: "What is the self-perception of children and adolescents with Down Syndrome? The protocol was registered at Open Science Framework (osf.io/znp7j). Results: the search was performed in September 2021, in seven databases, totaling 2437. After screening, seven articles were included, which were grouped considering the complexity of the concepts of self-perception and self-concept. Thus, the synthesis encompassed the following themes: a) body influence; b) social preferences; c) lifestyles and personal achievement; d) school environment. Conclusion: the result of this systematic review suggests that the body and lifestyles of children and adolescents with Down Syndrome influence the self-concept and self-perception of these individuals.

A Metatheoretical Review of Cognitive Load Lie Detection

This article examines the idea that cognitive load interventions can expose lies—because lying is more demanding than truth-telling. I discuss the limitations of that hypothesis by reviewing seven of its justifications. For example, liars must suppress the truth while lying, and this handicap makes lying challenging such that one can exploit the challenge to expose lies. The theoretical fitness of each justification is variable and unknown. Those ambiguities prevent analysts from ascertaining the verisimilitude of the hypothesis. I propose research questions whose answers could assist in specifying the justifications and making cognitive load lie detection amenable to severe testing.

Checklists for interpreting chest radiographs: a scoping review protocol

IntroductionWhat is known about checklists for interpreting chest radiographs? The question will guide the development of the inclusion criteria for the scoping review. Breaking down the scoping review question will allow the evaluation of inclusion and exclusion criteria for the protocol. The eligibility of the proposed research question will be assessed using the Population or Participants, Concept and Context (PCC) framework.BackgroundX-ray reporting can be standardised using checklists. Checklists may reduce the time needed to produce a comprehensive X-ray report and improve the quality and consistency of detecting abnormalities on chest radiographs. This scoping review aims to map the available literature on what is known about checklists for interpreting chest radiographs.MethodsWe will follow the methodological framework for scoping reviews originally described by Arksey and O’Malley. The scoping review will include articles that describe checklists for reducing diagnostic errors, checklists for analysing chest radiographs, checklists for identifying abnormalities on chest radiographs and checklists for reporting chest radiographs in all settings. Search terms are chest radiographs, checklists, and chest X-rays. We will search for peer-reviewed articles and grey literature including dissertations and theses. We will search online databases including Ovid Medline and Ebscohost, to identify articles published in English from 1994 to 2022. The searched articles will undergo two levels of screening, first the title and abstract screening, then a full-text screening by two reviewers. Data from the selected articles will be extracted, using a tested extraction form and charted using the Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines.ResultsThe results will be collated, summarised and discussed including any limitations of the included articles. The articles will be summarised in a table, as well as narratively. The distribution of studies will be summarised quantitatively and the numerical analysis will provide an overview and identify knowledge gaps. Content analysis will map different checklists available for chest interpretation.DiscussionThe results of the scoping review will be used to develop a checklist that will be used by medical doctors in collaboration with radiographers working in settings where there are no radiologists on-site, for interpreting chest radiographs.Systematic review registrationScoping review protocol registered with Open Science Framework on 27 July 2022. Design of the Integrated Cognitive Perception Model for Developing Situation-Awareness of an Autonomous Smart Agent

This study explores the potential for autonomous agents to develop environmental awareness through perceptual attention. The main objective is to design a perception system architecture that mimics human-like perception, enabling smart agents to establish effective communication with humans and their surroundings. Overcoming the challenges of modeling the agent's environment and addressing the coordination issues of multi-modal perceptual stimuli is crucial for achieving this goal. Existing research falls short in meeting these requirements, prompting the introduction of a novel solution: a cognitive multi-modal integrated perception system. This computational framework incorporates fundamental feature extraction, recognition tasks, and spatial-temporal inference while facilitating the modeling of perceptual attention and awareness. To evaluate its performance, experimental tests and verification are conducted using a software framework integrated into a sandbox game platform. The model's effectiveness is assessed through a simple interaction scenario. The study's results demonstrate the successful validation of the proposed research questions.

Automatic Classification of Emotions Based on Cardiac Signals: A Systematic Literature Review.

Emotions play a pivotal role in human cognition, exerting influence across diverse domains of individuals' lives. The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning has spurred interest in systems capable of automatically recognizing and classifying emotions and affective states. However, the accurate identification of human emotions remains a formidable challenge, as they are influenced by various factors and accompanied by physiological changes. Numerous solutions have emerged to enable emotion recognition, leveraging the characterization of biological signals, including the utilization of cardiac signals acquired from low-cost and wearable sensors. The objective of this work was to comprehensively investigate the current trends in the field by conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that focuses specifically on the detection, recognition, and classification of emotions based on cardiac signals, to gain insights into the prevailing techniques employed for signal acquisition, the extracted features, the elicitation process, and the classification methods employed in these studies. A SLR was conducted using four research databases, and articles were assessed concerning the proposed research questions. Twenty seven articles met the selection criteria and were assessed for the feasibility of using cardiac signals, acquired from low-cost and wearable devices, for emotion recognition. Several emotional elicitation methods were found in the literature, including the algorithms applied for automatic classification, as well as the key challenges associated with emotion recognition relying solely on cardiac signals. This study extends the current body of knowledge and enables future research by providing insights into suitable techniques for designing automatic emotion recognition applications. It emphasizes the importance of utilizing low-cost, wearable, and unobtrusive devices to acquire cardiac signals for accurate and accessible emotion recognition.

Restoration of the Church of St. Nicholas Fort Ricasoli: The Process of Conserving Our Heritage

Restoration programmes aid in preserving local building heritage for futuregenerations. Documentation of these restoration programmes is a fundamental taskin conserving and reserving significant cultural cultural buildings. Documenting anddeveloping a conservation strategy for a historical structure is quite a complex task andrequires not only planning the interventions required to conserve a building but also forfuture maintenance to enhance the effectiveness of such work. This paper is divided intofive sections. The first section, the introduction, gives a description and overview of thesubject being studied. In the second section, the existing literature study evaluates differentparadigms of protecting existing significant historic buildings. This is followed by anexplanation of the historical context and the history related to the subject studied. Finally,research on the documentation process is also reviewed. The third section describes themethodological approach that aided the analysis of this studys research questions in thefourth section. The fifth section gathers the primary and secondary data analysed and sumsup everything in accordance with the proposed research questions of this study. In order toconduct this research, the Church of St. Nicholas at Fort Ricasoli was used as the main casestudy. A detailed investigation of the church to identify the significance of conserving suchbuildings and an investigation of the existing conditions of the church were conducted. Thisaided in establishing the documentation process prior to the actual interventions on thefabric. In order to carry out such a process, different methods of documentation were used,such as laser scanning surveys, photogrammetry, and documentation of the existing stateof the building to aid in the process of deciding on future interventions. As a result of sucha process, considerations of appropriate uses of such methods and proposals were givenand, additionally, considerations of successful conservation after the actual conservation arehighlighted. The proposal for the conservation of the church of St. Nicholas at Fort Ricasolialso aims to set guidelines for other conservation programmes within the fort, amongstother local restoration projects. Conservation of abandoned structures will enhance thelocal context in various aspects. Finally, conservation programmes will give potentialbenefits to the Maltese islands. Giving back these historically significant monuments to thegeneral public will aid the Maltese islands economy.

The need for an organisational design to secure marketer creativity within unhealthy organisational cultures

This paper proposes research questions to secure marketer creativity within unhealthy organisational cultures. The emergent phenomenon that paved the way to this purpose is that organisations that communicate that they significantly implement marketing without implementation could complicate marketer creativity within these unhealthy organisational cultures. Creativity is becoming an influential part of modern marketing although marketing had involved creativity, and creativity needs orientations that marketing could provide. Therefore, it is reasonable to rethink the organisation in order not to sacrifice marketer creativity. A series of careful discussions in this domain reveal that focus and the link between strategy and culture could help shape organisational design. The proposed research questions ask for research on focal points, motivations, personal competitive advantages and congruity. The potential benefits include trustable organisations, a superior work environment, congruity with target audiences, and operating during economic transitions and challenges. This is an intersection between marketer behaviour and organisation studies against a leadership issue to secure a marketing priority. This approach supports a highly integrated theory of the organisation. However, it mainly supports a ‘deepening of marketing among practitioners’. Avoiding a superficial understanding of marketing and creativity in practice could help.

P-440 Equity in reproductive health: A systematic review of factors influencing higher maternal mortality among Black Women in the United Kingdom

Abstract Study question What factors influence maternal mortality (MM) among women of black origin in the UK? Summary answer There are multiple biomedical and systemic factors affecting black maternal mortality including late antenatal booking, poor communication, pregnancy complications and medical comorbidities. What is known already One of the key factors impacting global equity in reproductive health is maternal mortality. A maternal death is defined as a death occurring during pregnancy, childbirth or within six weeks postnatally. Black women in the United Kingdom (UK) are over three times more likely to suffer a maternal death than white women. In the UK, the maternal mortality ratio is 10.9 women per 100,000. This has significant implication for fertility and reproductive health equity. There is currently no systematic review of the factors contributing to maternal mortality in black women in the UK. Study design, size, duration A systematic literature review was conducted searching Medline, Embase, Global Health, Maternity and Infant Care, and Web of Science databases from their conception till September 2022. Only papers in English language covering a study period from 1970-2018 were included in this study. All peer-reviewed manuscripts irrespective of language or study design were reviewed. The reviews were conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) guidelines. Participants/materials, setting, methods Participants were black women with experiences of maternal care in the UK. Peer-reviewed articles that presented original data which investigated influences primarily on MM in UK women of black descent and, factors that may increase MM risk were included. Papers which included black women without delineating them from other groups of women were excluded. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed using Critical Appraisal Skills Programme and National Institutes of Health checklists. Main results and the role of chance A total of 14 studies were included. Biomedical and systemic factors increase black MM risk at the individual, provider (healthcare professionals (HCPs)) and system (the National Health Service) level. Commonly cited biomedical factors including increased risk of pregnancy complications and increased prevalence of medical comorbidities. Systemic factors included late antenatal booking and communication barriers between black women and HCPs. Qualitative findings from black women and HCPs centred on a theme of ‘deficit’ including mutual trust, basic maternity care and individualised care. Black women’s negative experiences in previous pregnancies often impacted trust levels and subsequently affected receptiveness to messages from HCPs. Regarding deficits in basic maternity care needs, black women spoke on the contrast in their care between the antenatal and postnatal period, viewing their postnatal care more negatively. However, it is difficult to gauge the full influence of these factors without increased investigation into the other systemic and structural factors that affect black MM including institutional racial biases, stereotypes and microaggressions. Limitations, reasons for caution An important limitation was the exclusion of grey literature given the relatively limited evidence base for the proposed research question. However, inclusion may have increased the validity of the conclusions. A further limitation is the studies included tended to lack differentiation between nationality and ethnicity when identifying black women. Wider implications of the findings This review is the first to synthesise the literature on factors that influence black MM in the UK. The multiplicity of factors identified highlights the need to incorporate lived-experiences of black women, improve the cultural competence of HCPs, improve fertility and reproductive health care for black women and reduce MM. The role of implementation organizations in scaling evidence-based psychosocial interventions

BackgroundTo bring evidence-based interventions (EBIs) to individuals with behavioral health needs, psychosocial interventions must be delivered at scale. Despite an increasing effort to implement effective treatments in communities, most individuals with mental health and behavioral problems do not receive EBIs. We posit that organizations that commercialize EBIs play an important role in disseminating EBIs, particularly in the USA. The behavioral health and implementation industry is growing, bringing the implementation field to an important inflection point: how to scale interventions to improve access while maintaining EBI effectiveness and minimizing inequities in access to psychosocial intervention.Main bodyWe offer a first-hand examination of five illustrative organizations specializing in EBI implementation: Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Incredible Years, Inc.; the PAXIS Institute; PracticeWise, LLC; and Triple P International. We use the Five Stages of Small Business Growth framework to organize themes. We discuss practical structures (e.g., corporate structures, intellectual property agreements, and business models) and considerations that arise when trying to scale EBIs including balancing fidelity and reach of the intervention. Business models consider who will pay for EBI implementation and allow organizations to scale EBIs.ConclusionWe propose research questions to guide scaling: understanding the level of fidelity needed to maintain efficacy, optimizing training outcomes, and researching business models to enable organizations to scale EBIs.

Timor Zone: Slave Trading Network from the Traditional Era to the Late Nineteenth-Century Dutch Colonial State

This article examines the continuity and changes of the Timorese slave trade network from the traditional era to the late nineteenth-century Dutch colonial state. Archival records, newspapers, and other literature were used extensively to reconstruct the map of the Timorese slave trading. Grasping the dynamics of change and trade networks of Timor, there were two proposed research questions: First, how did the Timorese slave trading network experience continuity and change from the traditional period until the late nineteenth-century Dutch colonial state? Second, to what extent does the need for labour in the global and Southeast Asian context play in shaping and catalyzing the expansion of the Timorese slave network? Timor and its surroundings were deemed slave enclaves (peripheries) with several trading centres. Traditionally, slave trade routes formed from Timor to Java and Malacca. In addition, it was intended for Dili and Macau during the Portuguese era. During the VOC era, Batavia and Banda were the busiest routes of the Timorese slave trade. Networking was increasingly across-the-board, along with the need for labour to meet the demands of the global market. Henceforward, during the Dutch East Indies, the slave trading network continued expanding to Maurits, Réunion, Macau, Mozambique, and Mombasa and several years after the post-prohibition of slavery, leaving Ende Bay as the only centre of the slavery trade.

Proposal for an index measuring the reputation of open data portals: The Odapri

The demand for open data has led to the creation and the availability of numerous portals releasing data. However, a large percentage of them are not properly designed for professional use. One way to analyze the value that a portal delivers is through its reputation, but this is a concept that has not yet been well defined or measured. This work will focus on the reputation of open data portals with two objectives. The first objective is to delimit the concept of reputation for open data portals, therefore leading to the first proposed research question: How can the reputation of open data portals be defined? The second objective is to propose criteria for measuring reputation and to create a reputation index for open data portals, with the second research question: How can the reputation of open data portals be assessed? This work is conceptual and descriptive and proposes a multidimensional definition of this concept, which includes whether it is known, being known for something, and its generalized favorability. In addition, a proposal is made for a reputation index identifying its dimensions and measurements, and finally, an analysis of its usefulness is presented. To this end, a figure has been created that summarizes the dimensions and benefits for creators and developers of open data portals and for the different application sectors (public, private, academic, and third sector). This research can help public administrations and other sectors to have a reference of good practices when offering open data to citizens and organizations oriented towards creating value in society.
