Furthermore, ADP-based control issues with communication constraints arouse ever-increasing research consideration in theoretical analysis and engineering applications due mainly to the wide participation of digital communications in industrial systems. The latest development of ADP-based optimal control with communication constraints is systematically surveyed in this paper. To this end, the development of ADP-based dominant methods is first investigated from their structures and implementation. Then, technical challenges and corresponding approaches are comprehensively and thoroughly discussed and the existing results are reviewed according to the constraint types. Furthermore, some applications of the ADP method in practical systems are summarized. Finally, future topics are lighted on ADP-based control issues.

Attitude optimization control of hypersonic flight vehicle considering partially unknown control direction

In this paper, a control method based on periodic sliding mode technology and adaptive dynamic programming algorithm is proposed for the attitude dynamics of hypersonic flight vehicle. The method takes into account a case that there is unknown control direction in a single channel. First, under the premise that the disturbance observers estimate the coupling and other disturbances, the attitude dynamics are decomposed into mathematical models of pitch channel and yaw-roll channel, respectively. Then, a periodic sliding mode control law with both stability and rapidity is designed for the unknown control direction in pitch channel. In the yaw-roll channel, an optimal attitude control law satisfying cost function is designed based on adaptive dynamic programming algorithm. What’s more, the closed-loop system is proved to be stable by Lyapunov stability theorem. Finally, the simulation results show that the attitude angle can track the command stably, which proves the effectiveness of the control scheme. Compared with the backstepping control scheme, the simulation results show that the proposed scheme can effectively avoid the divergence of the system because of the control direction switch, and the system have better dynamic performance and robustness.

Statistical substantiation of the quality of training metrologists in the system of additional professional education

The paper discusses the basics to ensure the quality of educational parameters of training engineering specialists, including the field of metrology, within additional professional education. The parameters of the educational quality that determine the effectiveness of this activity are identified. The emphasis is placed on the educational process parameter that has a direct impact on the quality of training students within additional professional educational programs, that is educational technology used in educational activities. Scientific papers are analyzed in the field of identifying an effective educational technology that ensures the quality of training students among other equal conditions. The problems are studied that are related to the choice to implement an effective educational technology in additional professional educational program. The relevance of statistical substantiation to apply an educational technology in educational activities is proved. The procedure for substantiating the quality (effectiveness) of the educational technology based on the use of statistical methods is proposed. The expediency of using statistical tools to confirm the quality of educational technology used in educational activities is argued.

Comparative analysis of educational services for bachelor training in the field of cyber security

Problem. Cybersecurity today is one of the main tasks, whose solution is mandatory not only for digital business. Recently, much attention has been paid to cybersecurity in the field of road transport. Already today, modern cars need high-quality and reliable protection of all electronics, communication systems, user personal data and software. Therefore, the issue of training a qualified specialist in automotive cybersecurity is quite relevant. Goal. The goal is to analyze the modern market of educational services both in Ukraine and other European countries in the field of training bachelors in cybersecurity. Methodology. Methods of analysis, synthesis, scaling and mathematical statistics were used to process the research results. Results. Comparative analysis of educational services of domestic and foreign universities showed that we have the greatest discrepancy between the educational services of domestic and foreign universities in the field of teaching programming technologies. Based on the results of the analysis, it was suggested that improving the quality of training specialists in cybersecurity is possible by increasing the volume and quality of educational services in programming technologies. Originality. A comparison was made of the quality of educational services of Ukrainian and European universities, in which the measure of the quality of disciplines taught is the number of credits allocated for the discipline. Practical value. The conducted study revealed a possible reason for the insufficient quality of training bachelors in cybersecurity in domestic universities. Eliminating the identified shortcoming will not only improve the quality of bachelor's training, but will also have a positive impact on the further employment of university graduates in their specialty.

Conservation ethics in the time of the pandemic: Does increasing remote access advance social justice?

The COVID-19 pandemic is stimulating improvements in remote access and use of technology in conservation-related programs and research. In many cases, organizations have intended for remote engagement to benefit groups that have been marginalized in the sciences. But are they? It is important to consider how remote access affects social justice in conservation biology—i.e., the principle that all people should be equally respected and valued in conservation organizations, programs, projects, and practices. To support such consideration, we describe a typology of justice-oriented principles that can be used to examine social justice in a range of conservation activities. We apply this typology to three conservation areas: (1) remote access to US national park educational programs and data; (2) digitization of natural history specimens and their use in conservation research; and (3) remote engagement in conservation-oriented citizen science. We then address the questions: Which justice-oriented principles are salient in which conservation contexts or activities? How can those principles be best realized in those contexts or activities? In each of the three areas we examined, remote access increased participation, but access and benefits were not equally distributed and unanticipated consequences have not been adequately addressed. We identify steps that can and are being taken to advance social justice in conservation, such as assessing programs to determine if they are achieving their stated social justice-oriented aims and revising initiatives as needed. The framework that we present could be used to assess the social justice dimensions of many conservation programs, institutions, practices, and policies.

Improving Path Accuracy of Mobile Robots in Uncertain Environments by Adapted Bézier Curves

An algorithm that presents the best possible approximation for the theoretical Bézier curve and the real path on which a mobile robot moves in a dynamic environment with mobile obstacles and boundaries is introduced in this paper. The algorithm is tested on a set of scenarios that comprehensively cover critical situations of obstacle avoidance. The selection of scenarios is made by deploying robot navigation performances into constraints and further into descriptive characteristics of the scenarios. Computer-simulated environments are created with dedicated tools (i.e., Gazebo) and modeling and programming technologies (i.e., Robot Operating System (ROS) and Python). It is shown that the proposed algorithm improves the performance of the path for robot navigation in a highly dynamic environment, with dense mobile obstacles.

In the foreground of the 4.0 Revolution, today's children live in an environment surrounded by technology devices: televisions, phones, computers, Ipads. The explosion and development f technology have strongly and multi-dimensionally affected all aspects of social life, including preschool education. Accordingly, the need for preschool children to access and use technology is increasing. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown the game of technology in improving the quality of nurturing, equipment, and preschool education, helping children access ducational equity. In this article, the authors highlight the trend of educating children to be familiar with technology right from the preschool level in some countries around the world (England, the US, Singapore, Australia, and Sweden) and educational orientation for preschool children. Children get acquainted with technology in the new preschool education program in the direction of a safe, proper, and responsible approach, helping children develop their hidden potential and form and develop their potential-the future global population.

Improvement of Operating Efficiency of Energy Cooperatives with the Use of “Crypto-Coin Mining”

Poland remains the most coal-dependent economy in the EU. To minimize that problem, which is particularly clear and dangerous in the period of a shortage of fossil fuels, the Polish authorities have decided to establish various institutions, organizational and regulatory solutions. Their role is to support the development of renewable energy sources and local energy communities. The latter are to focus on optimizing the production and consumption of energy in pursuit of energy self-sufficiency on a local scale. One such institution, set up in Poland over the last several years, is the energy cooperative, which is intended to increase the efficient use of the potential of renewable energy sources in rural and urban–rural areas. The authors of this article verify the assumptions, for instance, the number, composition or production and members’ consumption profiles, under which such a relatively new institution has the chance to develop. A novelty in this research paper is that the interests of the entities composing a given energy cooperative may additionally be secured by the use of surplus generation for crypto-coin mining, and thus the storage of energy in virtual currency. A dedicated mathematical model in mixed-integer programming technology was used, enriched with respect to previous research, making it possible for members of the cooperative to achieve energy independence while maximizing self-consumption and using their excess energy for processing cryptocurrency. This is in line with the global trend of “greening”; the processes of acquiring electronic money.

Health career exploration through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics pipeline programming

Developing effective programs that aim to generate student interest in the pursuit of a career in healthcare is vital to avoid shortages among the workforce. As the American population ages, the country will continue to experience a higher demand for healthcare-trained individuals and services. Exposing racially diverse students to career options and the educational requirements early can serve as a pipeline for increasing interest in obtaining careers in healthcare professions overall. Program formatting resembles “summer camps” as it provides students with educational opportunities outside of the typical school curriculum. These summer camp designed “programs” have been an effective method of increasing interest because it can provide hands-on exposure to healthcare careers, an opportunity to job shadow, and tour local healthcare facilities. Summer camps aimed to fill the gaps and increase interest in healthcare careers for underrepresented minority students. The literature identifies a few exploration camps across the United States, each with a data collection method unique to the program. This study examines the impact a summer health exploration camp can have on student efficacy and the effectiveness of generating student interest, in diverse populations, in the pursuit of a health-related career.

The Relationship between Educators’ Attitudes, Perceived Usefulness, and Perceived Ease of Use of Instructional and Web-Based Technologies: Implications from Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)

Over the years, developing countries have experienced tremendous growth in access to information and communication technology (ICT). This growth in access to ICT has brought about massive changes in many sectors within the society, including education. Researchers explored teacher educators' attitudes and use of instructional and web-based technologies in teacher preparation programs. Researchers used Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in this study. Using a mixed-method design, researchers examined the relationships between educators' attitudes and the use of technology. Findings from descriptive statistics have shown that educators exhibited overall positive attitudes toward technology. Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient revealed relationship exists between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Both quantitative and qualitative findings in this study have implications for educators and administrators in Nigerian education, especially, teacher preparation programs.

Symbolic Regression and Two‐Point Statistics Assisted Structure‐Property Linkage Based on Irregular‐Representative Volume Element

AbstractQuantifying the microstructure of materials is of significance in material development, especially for building the relationship between structure and property. To establish a remarkable structure‐property (SP) linkage, a novel concept referred to as irregular‐representative volume element (IRVE) based on panoramic image stitching technology (PIST) is proposed and a data‐driven scheme integrating irregular domain‐oriented two‐point statistics, principal component analysis (PCA), and symbolic regression based on genetic programming (GPSR) is constructed. Combining with advanced image processing and genetic programming technologies, this scheme improves the microstructure quantization framework. This scheme can not only be applied in different complex conditions for extracting the information of a material microstructure, but can also to embody details of microstructure from the perspective of large scale. IRVE is demonstrated to have both strong statistical representativeness and sufficient physical interpretation, which makes the scheme robust and reliable. Performing the scheme on an example of ferrite heat‐resistant steels, it shows a powerful ability in building an equational SP linkage with high precision (R = 0.91, RMSE = 13.17), the generalization ability of the linkage is also validated by an unseen steel (relative percentage error is 2.66%). The scheme has bright application prospects in predicting mechanical property and accelerating alloy design.

A systematic literature review on technology in online doctoral education

ABSTRACT Alongside the growing demand for doctoral degrees, there has been an increasing number of online doctoral programmes and online doctoral students enrolled across the globe. While the importance of mediating roles that communication technology plays in online doctoral education has been extensively documented, a comprehensive account of how and for what purpose online doctoral students use different technological tools has been lacking in the literature. To address the gap, the present authors have conducted a systematic literature review on doctoral students’ use of technology in distance programmes. The review results suggest that the range of technology used by online doctoral students is limited – asynchronous and synchronous communication technology for discussing and community building being predominantly top. Arguably more advanced technology was rarely discussed in the reviewed literature. How online doctoral students learn and use other information technology to support their research activities was largely unknown. Based on the results, the directions of future research efforts have been suggested.

Comparison of Representative Microservices Technologies in Terms of Performance for Use for Projects Based on Sensor Networks.

Reading and analyzing data from sensors are crucial in many areas of life. IoT concepts and related issues are becoming more and more popular, but before we can process data and draw conclusions, we need to think about how to design an application. The most popular solutions today are microservices and monolithic architecture. In addition to this choice, there is also the question of the technology in which you will work. There are more and more of them on the market and in each of them it is practically possible to achieve similar results, but the difference lies in how quickly it will be possible and whether the approach invented will turn out to be the most optimal. Making the right decisions at the beginning of application development can determine its path to success or failure. The main goal of this article was to compare technologies used in applications based on microservice architecture. The preparation of a book lending system, whose server part was implemented in three different versions, each using a different type of technology, helped to achieve this goal. The compared solutions were: Spring Boot, Micronaut and Quarkus. The reason for this research was to investigate projects using sensor networks, ranging from telemedicine applications to extensive sensor networks collecting scientific data, or working in an environment with limited resources, e.g., with BLE or WIFI transmitters, where it is critical to supply energy to these transmitters. Therefore, the issue of efficiency and hence energy savings may be a key issue depending on the selected programming technology.

Future of Cloud Computing: Mobile Cloud Apps

Cloud computing is quickly becoming one of the most essential branches for delivering seamless mobile applications. Cloud computing is discussed in this paper as another rapidly developing and established approach for providing improved and more productive cell phone apps. On a cloud computing platform, it offers mobile customers data storage and management administrations, cloud computing frameworks, cloud programming technology, the need for flexible cloud computing as part of the product business to handle new handheld application initiatives, application programs, application outlining gadgets, and the motivation for migrating applications to cloud computing frameworks are some of the ideas pushing cloud computing frameworks. The approach mobile users access services while moving has changed thanks to Mobile Cloud Computing. Only a few years ago, mobile phones were simple devices that permitted voice communication between users. Today, smartphones allow users to utilize value-added functions whenever they want and from any region. m-Cloud Computing incorporates cloud computing through into mobile context, overcoming challenges like as efficiency (e.g., battery capacity and memory), surroundings (e.g., scalability and dependability), and security (e.g., reliability and privacy).

Описание и диагностирование неисправностей в автономных необитаемых подводных аппаратах на основе онтологий

The paper proposes new ontologies for describing and diagnosing malfunctions of subsystems of autonomous under-water vehicles (AUVs) as part of the development of a previously created approach to the intelligent diagnosis of these vehicles using knowledge bases. To implement this approach, it is proposed to use two knowledge bases, one of which describes malfunctions, signs for their identification and actions necessary to adapt to the negative consequences caused by the appearance of these malfunctions. Another database contains information about the main subsystems of the AUVs, devices and replaceable modules, as well as the states in which they may be. Knowledge bases are used in the operation of intelligent control and emergency systems (ICES) on the AUV boards, which allow for comprehensive functional diagnostics of all subsystems of the device, including payload modules, as well as adaptation to the conse-quences of emerging malfunctions, taking into account the actual cause-and-effect relationships between them. The proposed ontologies for the indicated knowledge bases are compact, which makes it possible to use ICES on the AUV boards. To maintain up-to-date information about possible malfunctions, it is proposed to carry out continuous remote maintenance of ICES using the software Internet platform for the development and support of intelligent cloud ser-vices IACPaaS. To test the operability of ICES, its prototype was developed, which implements the functions of processing knowledge bases and developing solutions for adapting to faults. The simulation results of the prototype operation showed that ICES fulfills the assigned tasks and can be implemented on the on-board computers of existing AUVs using known programming technologies.

Mushrooms for integrated and diversified nutrition

Mushrooms were considered as “Objects of mystery” by the primitive man, and were realized as food much before civilization. Mushrooms have been variously used in different cultures from being priced as “Food of Gods” in the Roman culture to tools of psychological sedation for the Mexican warriors. Most of the edible mushrooms are saprophytic growing on decomposed organic plant matter. Mushrooms play varied and important roles in human nutrition and health. They are unique nutrition dense vegetables with quality high protein, very low fat, zero cholesterol, low carbohydrates, low glycemic index, high fiber, good cardiac friendly sodium to potassium ratio and some unique bioactive compounds like ergothioneine and polysaccharides. These unique nutritive properties of mushrooms make them a recommended food for diabetics, body weight management, hypertension and cardiac well-being. The concept of selenium rich mushrooms for slowing down the progress of AIDS has been gaining importance in the recent years. Apart from being a healthy vegetable, the unique lignocellulosic waste-based production system of mushrooms makes them the most ecofriendly zero waste green technology with immense environmental benefits (Gupta et al., 2004, Jain et al., 2014 and & Pandey et al., 2014). Despite many environmental and nutritional benefits; mushrooms yet have not become a part of daily nutrition in the Indian diet and the per capita consumption still remains very low at 70 grams per annum. There is a need to educate and enhance the awareness among the people about the nutritional and health potential of mushrooms. There is also the need to draw the attention towards integrating mushroom technology in successful agro-residue management programs, livelihood programs, national nutrition programs and women empowerment and rural development schemes which ultimately culminate in providing better daily nutrition.

Design and Implementation of Music Teaching System Based on J2EE

In order to improve the quality and management efficiency of music education, research on the music education system based on J2EE is carried out. The music education system adopts J2EE technology, UML modeling technology, SQL Server 2012 database, Web programming technology, MVC mode, etc., which can effectively guarantee the operation performance and security performance of the system in the later application. By analyzing the background, current situation, and demand for the music education system, the design and implementation of the music education system based on J2EE are proposed, the overall realization of system management functions, music teaching management functions, music course management functions, and other functions.

22 Sustainable Livestock Breeding: Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract Animal breeders have exploited many technological advances for increasing genetic gain in economically and functionally important traits. The implementation of such technologies in routine breeding programs has permitted genetic gains in traditional milk, meat and egg production traits as well as, more recently, in low-heritability traits like health, fertility, and even behavior. As global demand for animal products increases, animal breeders must ensure the technologies, methods and strategies employed are sustainable, to consider the many emerging technologies that are currently being investigated in various fields, and to ensure a social license to continue producing animal products. Here we discuss the societal, ethical, environmental, and economical aspects of sustainability in the context of livestock breeding. We review a number of technologies that have helped shape livestock breeding programs in the past and present, along with those potentially forthcoming. These tools have materialized in the areas of reproduction, genotyping and sequencing, genetic modification, epigenetics, and other areas of “omics” technologies. Although many of these technologies bring encouraging opportunities for genetic improvement of livestock populations, their applications and benefits need to be weighed with their impacts on sustainability.

Versatile software and hardware combo enabling photon counting acquisition and real-time display for multiplexing, 2D and continuous 3D two-photon imaging applications.

.Significance: rPySight brings a flexible and highly customizable open-software platform built around a powerful multichannel digitizer; combined, it enables performing complex photon counting-based experiments. We exploited advanced programming technology to share the photon counting stream with the graphical processing unit (GPU), making possible real-time display of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) experiments and paving the road for other real-time applications.Aim: Photon counting improves multiphoton imaging by providing better signal-to-noise ratio in photon-deprived applications and is becoming more widely implemented, as indicated by its increasing presence in many microscopy vendor portfolios. Despite the relatively easy access to this technology offered in commercial systems, these remain limited to one or two channels of data and might not enable highly tailored experiments, forcing most researchers to develop their own electronics and code. We set to develop a flexible and open-source interface to a cutting-edge multichannel fast digitizer that can be easily integrated into existing imaging systems.Approach: We selected an advanced multichannel digitizer capable of generating 70M tags/s and wrote an open software application, based on Rust and Python languages, to share the stream of detected events with the GPU, enabling real-time data processing.Results: rPySight functionality was showcased in real-time monitoring of 2D imaging, improved calcium imaging, multiplexing, and 3D imaging through a varifocal lens. We provide a detailed protocol for implementing out-of-the-box rPySight and its related hardware.Conclusions: Applying photon-counting approaches is becoming a fundamental component in recent technical developments that push well beyond existing acquisition speed limitations of classical multiphoton approaches. Given the performance of rPySight, we foresee its use to capture, among others, the joint dynamics of hundreds (if not thousands) of neuronal and vascular elements across volumes, as is likely required to uncover in a much broader sense the hemodynamic transform function.
