COOPERATIVE LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES AS A MEANS OF IMPROVING THE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF NURSES IN AUSTRIA

The article examines the use of cooperative learning technologies in the professional training of nurses in Austria. It is emphasized that the nursing profession in Austrian society has a high social rating, a pronounced personal and humanistic orientation, іt is a separate profession, where a nurse is an independent specialist in the health care system. It is emphasized that in the conditions of increasing the range of functional responsibilities and of the professional activity of medical specialists, cooperative learning technologies allow not only to improve practical skills, but also to develop the clinical thinking of future nurses, to adapt them to non-standard situations, to work out all the necessary stages of their activity. It is noted that the advantages of cooperative learning are the improvement of students' academic results, development of their ability to think critically and have non-stereotypical perception of other people, positive psychological climate in the group, studentsʼ desire for cooperation and constructive socialization, the presence of an empathetic reaction, mutual support, sympathy and friendly relations in the team, and positive attitude of students to studies, teachers and educational institution, etc. Unlike traditional forms and methods of educational activity, cooperative learning helps to achieve not only cognitive, but also motivational and emotional goals, develops the ability to take responsibility for oneʼs own learning, that is, the ability to independently organize the learning process.

The effect of assertiveness-based empowerment on professional commitment and moral courage of nurses working in Shahrekord educational hospitals

Background and aims: Professional commitment and moral courage affect the quality of nursing care. Assertiveness is a necessary communication skill for nurses. The studies have less focused on the relationship between the mentioned variables. Therefore, this study examined the impact of assertiveness-based empowerment on professional commitment and moral courage. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 70 nurses of Shahrekord educational hospitals who entered the study via available sampling and random allocation in intervention and control groups in 2021. Then, the assertiveness-based program was implemented in six 2-hour sessions for the intervention group. In both groups, data were collected before, immediately, and three months after the intervention using the Nurses’ Professional Commitment Standard questionnaire (NPCS) and Sekerka’s moral courage. The data was analyzed using SPSS software version 18. One sample t-test, chi-square, and repeated measurements analysis were used. Results: Before the study, neither group showed significant differences in demographic data, professional commitment, and moral courage (P>0.05). However, this difference was significant immediately after the intervention and three months later (P<0.001). Conclusion: The empowerment program based on assertiveness improved nurses’ professional commitment and moral courage. Therefore, it is appropriate to use these moral virtues in the professional training of nurses to provide high-quality care to patients.

Nursing students' perceptions of teaching health care to LGBTQIA+ people

Objective: to analyze nursing students' perceptions about their professional training for health care of LGBTQIA+ people. Methods: qualitative study, conducted with 19 nursing students through semi-structured interviews. Data were processed and worked through lexical analysis using IRaMuTeQ® software. Results: the textual corpus gave rise to two categories: professional nursing training on health of LGBTQIA+ people (subdivided into: curricular spaces addressing health of LGBTQIA+ people and Formative deficits for health care of LGBTQIA+ people) and Extracurricular spaces of professional training on health of LGBTQIA+ people (subdivided into: informal and extracurricular learning on health of LGBTQIA+ people and Work context and autonomy in learning about LGBTQIA+ health). Conclusion: addressing the health of LGBTQIA+ people in the training of nurses needs to expand beyond specific classes, which demands the creation of spaces within the curricular matrices that address the specificities required by this population, without, however, relegating them to extracurricular activities. Contributions to practice: problematization of the training of nurses for the health care of LGBTQIA+ people.

Empowerment of Foreign Nurses to Develop Self-efficacy in Culturally Competent Care Delivery

Background: Utilizing an exploratory, sequential, mixed-method approach, data was collected for an evidence-based educational approach to empower nursing staff from diverse cultural backgrounds to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the successful provision of culturally competent care. Methods: The Transcultural Self-Efficacy Tool (TSET) and the competence and confidence model were used to measure the influence of cultural competence education on transcultural self-efficacy (TSE) perceptions (n = 92). This mixed-methods inquiry utilized focus group inquiry prior to and after utilizing the TSET for the development of education and training. Results: Qualitative and quantitative data were triangulated with the themes and care statements from the qualitative focus group data, which explored relationships between the quantitative data of the TSET domains. Empowerment is demonstrated by the ability to deliver culturally competent care and achieve positive outcomes in clinical practice effectively and confidently. Conclusion: Empowering TSE may be influenced by the planned education and training of professional nurses. Educational outcome research can demonstrate the impact of cultural education and training programs on empowerment and meeting patient needs with culturally competent nursing skills.

We opted for the realization of an integrative review, was held search in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) in August 2015, using the keywords: Vertical transmission of infectious disease, HIV and Nursing associated with the Boolean AND operator. Results: Analyzing the articles appeared two themes: Nursing guidelines for reducing the risk of vertical transmission: the importance of nurses to reduce vertical transmission of HIV in Brazil is important, no doubt this professional develops activities relevant to public health from the instances of the grievances of the reduction policy to instances of comprehensive care to pregnant women, new mothers and mothers. Management of totally implanted vascular access device in cancer patients: methodological research to validate a procedures manual

ABSTRACT
 Objective:To perform an appearance, content and semantics validation of a procedures manual for the management of totally implanted vascular access device in cancer patients. Materials and Method:This is methodological research that used item response theory originated from the Psychometrics Theory in its validation process. This study was carried out in two steps: validation of appearance and content by expert nurses, and semantic validation by nurses who handle the catheter. The Concordance Index was considered valid with at least 80% of agreement among the assessors. Results:In the validation of appearance and content, only the item regarding to procedure in case of complications about the catheter reached concordance index of less than 80% and was rewrited according to the literature recommendations. In the semantic validation all items had a 100% of agreement. Conclusion:The manual was considered validated in terms of appearance, content and semantics, and it can be used as a teaching strategy for professional training of nurses who deal with cancer patients.

Methods of increasing cultural competence in nurses working in clinical practice: A scoping review of literature 2011-2021.

AimTraining for the development of cultural competence is often not part of the professional training of nurses within the European Economic Area. Demographic changes in society and the cultural diversity of patients require nurses and other medical staff to provide the highest quality healthcare to patients from different cultural backgrounds. Therefore, nurses must acquire the necessary cultural knowledge, skills, and attitudes as part of their training and professional development to provide culturally competent care to achieve this objective.ObjectiveThis review aims to summarize existing methods of developing cultural competence in nurses working in clinical practice.DesignA scoping review of the literature.MethodThe following databases were used: PubMed, ScienceDirect, ERIH Plus, and Web of Science using keywords; study dates were from 2011 to 2021.ResultsThe analysis included six studies that met the selection criteria. The studies were categorized as face-to-face, simulations, and online education learning methods.ConclusionEducational training for cultural competence is necessary for today’s nursing. The training content should include real examples from practice, additional time for self-study using modules, and an assessment of personal attitudes toward cultural differences.

Effects of the simulation pedagogy utilization in undergraduate nursing and midwifery students' skill development, in low- and middle-income countries: A systematic review

Objective: The development of a body of knowledge in simulation pedagogy is a source of enrichment of teaching methods, beneficial for the professional training of nurses and midwives. This review synthesized the effects of the simulation pedagogy utilization in undergraduate nursing and midwifery students' skill development in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).Methods: The search for primary research papers was conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, ERIC, and EMBASE. For additional papers, hand-searching was performed in key journals. All studies published in the English language between 2011 and 2020 were included. Titles and abstracts were screened after removing duplicates and then full texts of the remaining studies. Thirteen research studies were initially selected for a full review, with fifteen studies that fulfilled inclusion criteria included in the final analysis. The quality of studies was appraised using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. A narrative approach was used for synthesizing data. Results: Of the fifteen primary studies included in the review, there are three qualitative studies, ten quantitative studies, and two mixed methods studies. Among these studies, five were conducted in Turkey, three in South Africa, two in Ethiopia, one in Jordan, one in Kenya, one in Zambia, one in Brazil, and one in China. Student-level outcomes measured included knowledge, attitudes, skill performance, and satisfaction. Most of the outcomes at the reaction level demonstrated students’ satisfaction. At the learning level, outcomes involve knowledge (knowing), attitudes (feeling), and skills (doing).Conclusions: Educators and researchers in undergraduate education programs need evidence to inform best practice strategies for students’ skill development. This research presents preliminary evidence of the effects of the simulation pedagogy utilization in undergraduate nursing and midwifery students' skill development on satisfaction, knowledge, attitudes, and skills. In addition, it could enlighten policymakers, managers and educators in LMICs countries on the need to use simulation pedagogy in nursing and midwifery professional training institutes.

100 years after the first nursing school in Ecuador

In 2017 it was 100 years since the creation of the first school for the training of professional nurses in Ecuador, that same year this school presented a proposal for curricular redesign, which was approved and is in force and being applied. To identify differences and similarities between the program applied for training in 1917 and the current program, a comparative analysis of the academic and regulatory aspects of both programs was carried out. For the construction of the findings, official documents from the historical archive of the school and the country were reviewed, and to support the comparative descriptive analysis, literature available in regional and international databases was reviewed, obtaining 9 articles published in Spanish and 4 in Spanish. English language. The subordination of the profession to the medical profession, the lack of content teaching for the development of critical thinking and reflective attitudes, and the application of traditional methodologies for degree evaluation are the elements that have been perpetuated until today.

Violence against children and adolescents: nurse's actions in primary health care.

to analyze the role of nurses in suspected or confirmed cases of violence against children and adolescents in Primary Health Care. an analytical research, with a qualitative approach. Thirty nurses participated in the study, and data were collected by means of an individual form and a semi-structured interview. The data received lexicographic analysis by the software IRaMuTeQ (Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires) organized by Bardin's content analysis. five categories emerged, in which it was possible to consider that the nurses' approach in cases of violence was based on the identification of violence through physical examination during nursing consultations, health promotion actions in the school environment, request for support from the multi-professional team, and transfer of responsibilities. it is inferred that the fragility in the professional training of nurses to address situations of violence against children and adolescents produces deficits in comprehensive care for victims.

Transformation of Russian healthcare: the role of nurses

The trend towards empowering nurses with broader functions and responsibility is global and is driven by the development of medical technology and demographic trends. Therefore, raising the question of changing the role of a nurse in Russian health care is legitimate. However, when implementing innovations in such a sensitive area as health care, it is necessary to take into account the context of the reform. The article presents the results of comprehensive sociological researchers conducted in 2019 and 2020, and concerning: the first - working conditions and the quality of professional training of the Moscow nurses and physicians; the second - their attitude to the idea of ​​expanding the functions of nurses; ideas about the presence of the necessary conditions for this, the response from patients and doctors, the impact on the availability and quality of medical care. The data indicate the ambiguity of the attitude towards the planned innovation. On the one hand, there is an understanding of the need for a certain redistribution of functions and responsibilities between doctors and nurses with an increased role for the latter. On the other hand, the experience of recent years has formed among nurses and physicians negative expectations from innovations of an organizational nature. First of all, a further increase in the load is expected, despite the fact that the current one is perceived by many as excessive, and also that the increase in load and responsibility will not receive adequate material compensation. Other concerns are associated with stereotypes that have formed among doctors and patients, who are used to seeing nurses exclusively in secondary roles, as well as with the inadequacy of their current professional training. The elimination of negative expectations can be facilitated by a system of measures to improve the regulation, organization and remuneration of nurses, improve the quality of professional training of nurses, taking into account their new role, as well as the social prestige of this professional group.

EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE TEACHING INTEGRATION IN COLLEGE NURSING STUDIES: HISTORICAL AND LEGAL ASPECTS

To better understand and analyze the education of evidence-based practice, it is necessary to review the context and premises of the formation of evidence-based practice itself. The beginning of the evidence-based practice movement in the teaching of health professionals’ dates back to 1910 and looking at the health care system; first, there was evidence-based medicine. In 1990, Sackett's initiative at McMaster University in Canada, it was decided to change the term "evidence-based medicine" to "evidence-based practice" (Mackey Bassendowski, 2017; Thom Eaves, 2015). In nursing, the beginning of evidence-based practice is linked to the reforms of nursing science and practice by the first nursing researcher, Florence Nightingale, from 1854 to 1910, although the term of “evidence-based practice” was not yet known at the time. The professional training of nurses as one of the leading health professionals is related to health policy and the development of nursing science. The European Qualifications Framework (EHEA) defines the expected learning outcomes for professionals with a bachelor's degree, including the skills to find, evaluate, reflect, and apply scientific information in practice (Bologna Working Group, 2005). Despite international and national recommendations, it is difficult for many higher education institutions to refine the steps of teaching evidence-based practice in nursing study programs. These difficulties are revealed by the ambiguity in the definition of the concept of evidence-based practice (Horntvedt et al. 2018).The problematic question is: What is the basis for integrating evidence-based practice training into college nursing study programs?The study is based on the scientific literature review.

A FORMAÇÃO PROFISSIONAL DO ENFERMEIRO: ENTRELACE ENTRE ENSINO DA VIROLOGIA E SARS-COV-2 EM UMA UNIVERSIDADE PÚBLICA

The aim was to analyze the training of nurses related to the teaching of Virology to work in times of pandemic. Descriptive, exploratory and qualitative research was carried out through content analysis carried out from June to August 2020, serving as a subsidy for the construction of an integrative review based on analytical reading, which included the appreciation of nine articles, taking into account the methodological rigor. The theoretical orientation focused on the development of competences of Philippe Perrenoud; in the National Curriculum Guidelines for undergraduate courses in the health area, which deal with the professional training of nurses; and in the onset of the pandemic caused by SARS-COV-2. The data showed that the training of nurses focused on acting in times of pandemic emerges as a thematic category, where the training process of this professional in relation to the teaching of Virology is presented as relevant. The construction of nurses' competence is important, as they work with the patient, who plays the leading role in care, especially in times of pandemic. This makes them able to serve in the SUS.

Компетентнісний підхід до професійної підготовки майбутніх фахівців з медсестринства у сфері реформування реабілітаційної допомоги в Україні

In present conditions of turbulent development of scientific and technological progress, reforms of Ukrainian educational system and integration into European educational space, high quality training and professional orientation of medical workers, especially nurses, is highly needed. The baccalaureate nurse should obtain a high level of knowledge and competence in all areas of their work. This is primarily due to the involvement of baccalaureate nurses in extraordinarily complex medical procedures, usage of high-tech equipment in specialized institutions, and independent decision-making related to the implementation of palliative care in health care institutions. Because of these changes, nursing should become an independent medical profession, and one of the prerequisites for this is the modernization and improvement of nursing training programs at the level of a higher education (bachelor and master levels). The article analyzes the research on the development of medical education in the context of reforming the medical field in times of global crisis. The author presents a retrospective analysis of nursing education development in Ukraine in the middle of the 20th –the first half of the 21st century; a parallel is drawn with the existing state qualification requirements and areas of professional training for nurses of different levels of education. The author of the article indicates the necessity of a rational approach to the training of prospective nurses and substantiates the directions of nursing education development in the context of modern health care reform by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. It is argued the importance of developing not only hard skills, but also soft skills of prospective medical workers, especially within the framework of a narrow specialization during the period of study in higher education institutions. МОДЕРНИЗАЦИЯ СОДЕРЖАНИЯ УРОВНЕЙ ПРОФЕССИОНАЛЬНОЙ ПОДГОТОВКИ МЕДИЦИНСКОЙ СЕСТРЫ КАК СРЕДСТВО ФОРМИРОВАНИЯ СПЕЦИАЛИСТА НОВОЙ ФОРМАЦИИ

Significance. Due to a widespread use of the «lean manufacturing» concept in health and lack of skills in applying lean technologies in practice among health specialists, educational institutions are challenged to modernize content of the levels of professional training of nurses. Purpose. To identify major directions for modernizing levels of professional training of nurses as a means of forming specialists of the new formation. Material and methods. The study was conducted on the basis of the Arzamas Medical College and health care facilities of Arzamas that provide outpatient health care. Students in Nursing (qualification «nurse» / «medical brother») in the second and third year (312 people) and practicing nurses (123 people) were selected as the respondents. Special questionnaires were developed. Conclusions. The study results substantiate the need to update the training content at all levels of professional education of nurses - both basic and postgraduate. Modernization of the content of the levels of training should incorporate training in innovative lean manufacturing, in improving motivation and readiness for innovations in professional activities, in developing initiative and responsibility for personal performance and organizational performance as a whole into major professional educational programs for nurses and programs of advanced training of nurses. The practical results of the study made it possible to identify major directions for modernizing levels of professional training of nurses and served basis for the development of the «Model for developing competencies in «lean manufacturing» tools on the basis of a medical college». Scope of application. The data obtained in the course of the research can be used as additional information in realizing the basic professional educational program in the specialty 34.02.01 «Nursing», as well as in developing training programs for nurses at primary health care settings.

Florence Nightingale bicentennial: 1820-2020. Her contributions to health care improvement.

In 2020 we celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of Florence Nightingale and 110 years from her death (1820–1910). This gives us the opportunity to remember her life and her achievements. She is mainly known for her contribution to the foundation of modern nursing in the British Empire and subsequently to the world. Besides her personal engagement in the Crimean War, she organized a professional training for nurses, wrote the first textbook on nursing (“Notes on Nursing”) and took public positions in favor of health care and philanthropic funding. She was a militant for the rights of the women and for social justice. She was a pioneer of medical statistics and hospital management. Her activity is acknowledged worldwide.

Desafios do enfermeiro na assistência ao paciente com deficiência auditiva: uma revisão da literatura

A enfermagem é a ciência e a arte do cuidar, é o cuidado da saúde de um indivíduo, família, e sua comunidade, por isso deve fazer o processo de promoção, manutenção, recuperação da saúde. A comunicação possui um papel muito importante no processo de assistência ao cliente com deficiência auditiva, e ao cliente surdo, pois é a primeira etapa de interação, compreensão dos clientes, e assim descobrir o seu ponto de vista, avaliar seus problemas, e a partir disso começar a sequência de diagnósticos e intervenções. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica da literatura, de abordagem qualitativa e caráter descritivo com objetivo de descrever os desafios do enfermeiro na assistência ao paciente com deficiência auditiva. Foram realizadas buscas na base de dados da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) – Bireme, entre junho e julho de 2020, nas bases de dados: Literatura Latico Americana e do Caribe em Ciência da Saúde (LILACS), Bases de Dados da Enfermagem (BDENF), Biblioteca Eletrônica Cientifica Online (SciELO). A partir dessa leitura preliminar, foram selecionados 10 artigos que mantinham coerência com os descritores apresentados e com os objetivos do estudo. Pode se concluir que o presente estudo, mostra que o ensino superior apresenta lacunas na formação profissional dos enfermeiros no que se refere a comunicação. É imprescindível que todos os profissionais enfermeiros se sensibilizem e se conscientizem de que devem sempre estar em busca de novos conhecimentos e capacitação sobre a inclusão social na saúde dos deficientes auditivos.

Professional training of nurses for medical organizations in the capital: problems and solutions

The current stage of development of health systems is characterized by an increasing role of specialists with secondary medical and higher (nursing) education, which imposes additional requirements on their medical, pedagogical, psychological and technical knowledge and skills. The article presents the results of a study implemented in 2019 on the development of medical personnel in the capital's healthcare system. One of the research methods was an expert survey in the form of a series of in-depth structured interviews with the leadership of medical colleges, universities and institutions of additional professional education (N = 15), the scenario of which included blocks of questions regarding the main determinants of the quality of training of nursing staff and bachelors in the direction of "Nursing", as well as ideas for introducing the capital standard of a nurse. The analysis of the information obtained made it possible to identify a number of problems and directions for their solution: at the college level, this is, first of all, poor-quality production practice, which is due to the overload of medical staff and, in general, not serious attitude to trainees, as well as insufficient communication training of future nurses; in the case of undergraduate studies, the main problems are related to students who have gone to university just after school, who have a poor idea of their future profession and are poorly motivated to study in condition when courses that dedicated to studying nursing medical skills, initially aimed at a more professionally trained contingent, have been significantly reduced. Experts, who support the idea of expanding the functions of nurses, the main obstacles to its implementation see in the stereotypes that the chief physicians and the medical community as a whole have about the purely secondary role of the nursing staff, as well as the corresponding attitudes of the nurses themselves. Regarding the standard of the capital's nurse, experts agree that the main emphasis should be on the development of universal competencies, attention to deontological and ethical issues.

Formação Profissional do Enfermeiro com Compromisso Social na Atenção ao idoso: a influência do ambiente socioeducacional

O objetivo do estudo foi compreender a formação do enfermeiro para o exercício profissional com compromisso social na consulta ao idoso tendo em vista o ambiente socioeducacional. Foi empregado o referencial teórico de Pierre Bourdieu. A metodologia foi análise documental qualitativo do projeto pedagógico da Escola de Enfermagem Aurora de Afonso Costa que está publicado no site da instituição, à luz da análise de conteúdo. Utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo e a partir dela encontraram-se três categorias: o conhecimento/saber e as da práxis cotidiana de enfermagem são vistas sob a óptica da integração entre a teoria-prática; “compromisso social” se refere a ter atitude profissional com o indivíduo, a família, e a comunidade na valorização da vida e revela que o compromisso social está relacionado com a formação e a participação social, dentro do conceito de prática entre sujeitos e mediadora dos cuidados no ambiente socioeducacional. A compreensão sobre a formação profissional do enfermeiro com compromisso social no ambiente socioeducacional organiza a consulta ao idoso com o conhecimento para a comunidade acadêmica.
