Preparing Adaptive Graduates, Islamic and Professional in the Era Society 5.0

Abstract. The evolution of Society 5.0, characterized by advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), necessitates that Islamic higher education institutions adapt to these changes. General Background: The Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (UMSIDA) aims to produce graduates who possess both Islamic values and professional competencies, particularly in AI. Knowledge Gap: However, there is a lack of curricula that effectively integrate AI with ethical considerations rooted in Islamic teachings. Aims: This paper proposes a development plan to enhance curricula, faculty competencies, and the responsible integration of AI. Results: The findings emphasize the need for graduates to collaborate effectively with AI while maintaining ethical standards. Novelty: This study introduces a strategic vision for 2032, focusing on innovative curriculum design and faculty development in line with Islamic principles. Implications: By equipping graduates with the necessary skills and ethical awareness, this framework ensures the relevance of Islamic education in a technologically advanced society, preparing them for future challenges with integrity and competence. The Experience of Women Receiving Mastectomy Care in an Acute Surgical Ward: A Qualitative Study.

The research aim was to understand the inpatient experience of women who received postoperative care for mastectomy surgery in an acute surgical ward. A Qualitative Descriptive Research design was used. The lead researcher conducted individual semi-structured interviews with 10 women who received postoperative care following mastectomy surgery in an acute hospital surgical ward. The transcribed interview data was analysed using a thematic analysis. A mastectomy is a momentous event in any woman's life. In the initial post-operative phase, the physical intrusion of surgery, aesthetics of the ward, and mixed-gender rooms were all found to influence the women's journey towards holistic recovery. Therapeutic care from all in the healthcare team and a ward setting conducive to recovery were identified as favourable influences towards physical and emotional healing. Recognising that a mastectomy 'is not just physical' may help the breast care team optimise the first 24 h of postoperative care in preparation for the challenges the women may face on discharge. In an acute inpatient setting, a women's physical needs may be prioritised over the psychological and emotional ramifications of a mastectomy. Post-operative inpatient care for breast cancer surgery requires not only professional competency with clinical and technical tasks, but therapeutic nursing and communication skills to support women's psychological needs. The findings were drawn from 10 women, narrating their inpatient experience for breast cancer surgery. All women had undergone a unilateral or bilateral mastectomy following breast cancer.

The study emphasizes the role of practical, social, and emotional skills in pedagogy, outlining innovative training methods that enhance educators' personal and professional competence. The article concludes with recommendations for integrating life skills education within teacher training programs, fostering well-rounded development.

Psychological, Physical, and Professional Impact on Second Victims in Veterinary Anaesthesia: A Cross-Sectional International Survey - Part 1

ObjectivesTo investigate the psychological, physical, and professional impact of veterinary patient safety incidents (PSIs) on veterinary anaesthesia professionals. Study designWe conducted an observational cross-sectional survey, inviting veterinary anaesthesiologists, anaesthesiologists in training, and veterinary nurses/technicians through social media platforms from 2nd June–20th of September 2023. The questionnaire was based on the Second Victim Experience and Support Survey (SVEST) and analysed using descriptive statistics and subscale scoring to assess psychological, physical, and professional impacts. ResultsA total of 303 participants from 31 countries responded, including North (24%), Central (13.5%), and South America (25%), Europe (13.2%), UK (12.5%), Australia/New Zealand (8.1%) and Asia/Middle East (3.3%). A participation rate cannot be estimated. All respondents described themselves as second victims, with 70% encountering a PSI in the past 6 months. Of the 303 participants, 75% had direct involvement with the incident. Common post-incident challenges included: an increased awareness for PSIs (67.1%), fear of new PSIs (62.7%), diminished confidence (56.1%), more defensive medicine practice (46.7%), and sleep disorders (43.3%). Additionally, 62.7% agreed or strongly agreed that they experienced embarrassment post-incident. Following a PSI, approximately 69% of the participants reported feeling inadequate in their animal care abilities, and a similar percentage questioned their professional competence. Over half of the respondents (54.6%) became fearful of undertaking high-risk procedures. Approximately 38% of respondents considered leaving the field of anaesthesia, while over 56% harboured thoughts of leaving their job due to the stress from PSIs. Additionally, a significant proportion, 69.8%, reported not taking time off work following PSIs. ConclusionThe study identifies a significant psychological, physical, and professional impact on veterinary anaesthesia professionals, with notable effects on their emotional well-being and professional self-efficacy. The findings emphasize the need for supportive measures and interventions to mitigate the adverse effects experienced by these individuals.

This article is devoted to the study of project-based learning as an innovative approach to developing practical skills and professional competencies in students of technical universities. The paper analyzes the advantages of project-based learning, considers various project models, and presents the results of empirical research. The authors emphasize the importance of project activities for the formation of such competencies in future engineers as creativity, teamwork, and the ability to solve complex problems. In addition, the article discusses the challenges and prospects for introducing project-based learning into the educational process of technical universities.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO DEVELOP TEACHING METHODS IN MEDICAL SCIENCES

The rapid advancements in medical sciences necessitate continuous updates in teaching methods to ensure that healthcare professionals are adequately prepared to meet the demands of modern medicine. Traditional lecture-based teaching, though foundational, is increasingly supplemented by innovative pedagogical strategies designed to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and practical skills. This paper outlines key recommendations for developing effective teaching methods in medical sciences, emphasizing the integration of technology, active learning, and interprofessional education. First, the incorporation of simulation-based learning and virtual reality can provide immersive, hands-on experiences, allowing students to practice clinical skills in a safe, controlled environment. Second, the use of problem-based learning (PBL) and case-based discussions promotes critical thinking and clinical reasoning, shifting the focus from rote memorization to the application of knowledge in real-world scenarios. Third, flipped classrooms—where students engage with theoretical content before class and use classroom time for discussion and problem-solving—foster active learning and student-centered education. Additionally, incorporating interprofessional education encourages collaboration among medical, nursing, and allied health students, reflecting the team-based approach required in modern healthcare settings. Finally, continuous assessment and feedback, facilitated by digital tools, allow for personalized learning pathways and early identification of knowledge gaps, enabling targeted interventions. In conclusion, adopting a multi-faceted approach to teaching in medical sciences—one that embraces technology, active learning, and collaborative education—can improve both the learning experience and the competency of future healthcare professionals. These recommendations aim to produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also skilled in critical thinking, decision-making, and teamwork, ultimately improving patient care outcomes.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Competencies for the Archival Professions

ABSTRACTThis article presents qualitative research aimed at deriving key competencies for archival students and professionals to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to support the ongoing availability and accessibility of trustworthy public records. Methodology and findings are presented. Our primary source of data were interviews conducted between January and July 2023 with 10 archivists, record managers, and digital archives researchers from the UK, Canada, USA, Australia, and New Zealand. All our interviewees had practical experience applying AI and ML to the processing of records in archives or record management offices. Findings from the qualitative data analysis from the interviews are presented and organized in three areas of competencies: knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

The article depicts the indicators of reaching the maturity of legal competence during the training of military students at the maritime higher educational institution. The criteria of maturity of professional legal competence are defined for the would-be ship’s command staff specialists.

Overcoming barriers in eating disorder care: advances, gaps, and recommendations for equitable assessment and treatment.

This paper provides an overview of topics discussed by clinicians and researchers invited to speak at the Canadian Nutrition Society's Thematic Conference 2023, which was centered on advances in research and practice in the assessment and treatment of disordered eating and eating disorders. Presenters emphasized the importance of understanding how systemic factors such as racism, weight stigma, and COVID-19 affect the assessment and treatment of eating disorders, and proposed strategies for addressing these inequities. In this paper, we provide actionable recommendations for clinicians working with individuals with eating disorders; professional development, cultural competence, and equitable assessment and treatment practices are discussed.

Trends in Library Services and the competencies of the librarian

This study sought to discuss the perspective of services for libraries and to indicate the competences of professionals to act in face of this scenario. Regarding the nature of the research, it is characterized as basic research, using an exploratory approach and bibliographic and documental characteristics. The searches were carried out in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus (Elsevier), SciELO. The 2,030 documents were retrieved; these were explored by reading the titles, the keywords, and the abstract. In this way, we evaluated which of the articles answered the research question. Among the documents checked, 55 documents were selected. The results identified services in the technological sphere: Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things, Drones, Virtual Assistants, and Blockchain. In the society, sphere Co-working. In the Education category, Badging, and in the Environment category, Resilience. Given what was proposed, the librarian’s perception of these changes becomes essential as actors and providers of these services.

Student Perceptions of Generative AI in LIS Coursework

ABSTRACTThe purpose of the study is to inform LIS curriculum development by understanding student perceptions of generative AI tools. Assignments with a generative AI component for two courses (n = 65) were de‐identified and analyzed after the end of the semester using a grounded qualitative approach. Students recognize the need for caution and critical evaluation of generative AI tool output, while mentioning areas of utility in practice, including information retrieval, reference services, teaching, and information access. Responses highlight the importance of information literacy in the use of these tools, and potential implications for practice in information professions. The study contributes to the literature about the need for curriculum development to address this disruptive technology by identifying the professional competencies that are affected.

NATURE AND BASIC CONCEPTS OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCES OF PUBLIC CIVIL SERVANTS

In this article, the concept of professional competencies of state civil servants and its essence are analyzed in detail. The importance of the system of competences aimed at improving the qualifications of civil servants, professional development and service efficiency is studied. The main types of competences, including professional knowledge, skills, personal qualities and basic concepts formed through ethical standards are identified. Based on the analysis of modern approaches and international experiences in the field of public administration, recommendations are given to improve the efficiency of employees.

Impact of school experiences on the beliefs and instructional practices of future mathematics teachers

This study examines the impact of cumulative experiences and beliefs during the school career on the pedagogical development of future mathematics teachers in Chile. A sample of 252 pedagogy students from 18 higher education institutions participated in the study, completing a questionnaire that focused on instructional paradigms, teaching experiences, and pedagogical practices. The research employed latent class analysis to identify distinct profiles based on the teaching paradigms experienced by the participants. A logistic regression model further corroborated these profiles. The findings indicate a prevalent inclination towards constructivist beliefs and practices among future teachers, which are significantly shaped by their secondary education experiences, often devoid of a constructivist approach. This study emphasizes the critical role of prior educational experiences in shaping professional competencies in teaching mathematics.

Анализ профессиональной культуры сотрудников органов внутренних дел: философско-антропологический ракурс

The article provides an analysis of the professional culture of employees of internal affairs agencies from a philosophical and anthropological perspective. The work notes that two elements can be defined in the structure of professional culture - professional competence and personal qualities. A general description of each of these elements is given. It is noted that it is the philosophical and anthropological perspective that allows us to fully analyze the essence of the personal element in the structure of a certain type of professional culture. From the philosophical and anthropological perspective, three principles on which it is based have been identified: the unity of normativity and initiative; the unity of dynamism and statics; the need for systematic information exchange. These principles are of a dialectical nature and are defining, distinguishing the professional culture of employees of internal affairs agencies from other types. The personal component turns out to be of primary importance, influencing decision-making in a specific situation. Paths for further research into the professional culture of employees of internal affairs agencies are outlined.

Development of Research Core Competencies for Academic Practice Among Health Professionals: A Mixed-Methods Approach.

Of the 4 pillars of academic practice for nursing and allied health, research has been the least developed and no standard competency framework exists that is embedded in health professional scopes of practice. The objective of this article is to report on the preliminary development and pilot-testing of research and academic scholarship core competencies for nonphysician health professionals working within a large urban academic health sciences center. We conducted an internal and external environmental scan and multiphase consultation process to develop research and academic core competencies for health professionals working within an interprofessional setting. The final framework outlines 3 levels of research proficiency (novice, proficient, and advanced) and the relevant roles, specific competencies, and observable actions and/or activities for each proficiency level. Organizations should consider the integration of the framework within performance management processes and the development of a road map and self-assessment survey to track progress over time and support health professionals with their academic practice goals.

A MODEL FOR THE FORMATION OF THE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF A FUTURE

The model of formation of the communicative competence of a future English teacher by means of effective technologies of interaction between subjects of the educationalprocess is a process of consistent creation of its constituent substantive blocks and ways to achievethe set research goal - the search and finding effective technologies for interaction between subjects of the educational process.The article presents a model for the formation of the communicative competence of a futureEnglish teacher through effective forms and technologies of interaction between subjects of the educational process.It includes the following blocks: a state order for an English teacher; requirements forgraduates of employers; rules set out in new state standards; a goal-setting block; various forms of pedagogical interaction; communication technologies; a set of organizational and psychologicaland pedagogical conditions. The key to the successful formation of the communicative competence of a future Englishteacher is the search and implementation of effective technologies for the interaction of subjectsof the educational process in this process. The establishment of communications between the subjects of the educational process is possible through clear informing of all departments bothabout the general concept and purpose of the educational institution, and informing them about the set professional goals, tasks within the framework of professional training of students of all departments of the faculty, departments in the areas of their interaction with the university administration. To solve this problem, we used the modeling method. The analysis of modern conditions for the training of future foreign language teachers has shown that there is a need to create a system aimed at the formation of professional and communicative competence of a foreign language teacher, which serves as the basis for the implementation of professional and pedagogical functions. On the basis of competence-based, communicative and professionally-oriented approaches, a model for the formation of professional and communicative competence has been developed, which includes targeted, conceptual,meaningful, procedural, methodological and effective blocks.
