Productivity of crop rotations with different types of fallow and their effect on the humus content in sod-podzolic soil the Middle Urals

The research was carried out in the conditions of the Perm Region on sod-podzolic heavy loamy soils in a long stationary plot trial, laid down in 1977. The purpose of the research is to study the effect of various types of fallow on crop rotation productivity and humus content in the soil. The data are given for two rotations (2009–2022) of fallow-grain–grass crop rotations with various types of fallow – with manurial, sown with clover, sown with melilot, sideral with clover and sideral with melilot – without mineral fertilizers and with fertilizers (N60P30K60). It was found that in the sown fallows, the mass of root and mowing plant residues of meadow clover and yellow melilot, depending on the nutrition background, reaches 4.08–4.36 t/ha with a nitrogen content of 41.8–46.9 kg/ha, phosphorus 16.7–18.6 kg/ha and potassium 42.7–69.6 kg/ha. In sideral fallow with clover and clover biomass, 6.99–9.04 t/ha and 6.83–8.53 t/ha of dry matter with a content of 133.5–148.1 kg/ha of nitrogen, 34.3–41.2 phosphorus and 121.2–148.9 potassium were supplied to the soil, respectively. The application of organic fertilizers in the fallow field contributed to an increase in the humus content by 0.19 abs.% to the initial (2.04 %) in the variant without mineral fertilizers and by 0.69 abs.% in the variant with the introduction of mineral fertilizers to the initial (2.08 %) Clover sideral fallow also contributed to an increase in the humus content in the soil by – 0.38–0.52 abs.%. There was an increased productivity of crop rotation with sideral melilot fallow (2.22–2.25 t/ha of grain units per year) relative to the traditional crop rotation with pure fallow (2.08–2.11 t/ha of grain units per year). Cultivation of crops in all studied crop rotations was energetically efficient, the energy efficiency coefficient was 3.63...4.48 in the variants without mineral fertilizers, against the background of NRK – 2.38...3.21.

Abstract. The purpose of the research was to establish the degree of influence of crop rotations and mineral nutrition backgrounds on the fertility of leached chernozem. A comparative assessment of the main nutrition elements of humus, nitrogen of easily hydrolyzable, mobile phosphorus of plants in dynamics in the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of the Chelyabinsk region, in various crop rotations on two fertilization backgrounds P and NP was carried out. Methods. The research was carried out in a long-term field experiment on the land-use territory of the Chelyabinsk Research Institute from 1998 to 2021. Humus, total nitrogen and easily hydrolyzable nitrogen were determined in soil samples according to the method of I. V. Tyurin and M. M. Kononova in the modification of V. N. Kudeyarov, mobile phosphorus according to F. V. Chirikov. Results. According to the results of our research, it was found that, on average, over the years of observations 1998–2021, the humus content due to the crop rotation factor changed by 0.2 %, according to the fertilization backgrounds by 0.8 %. The nitrogen content of the total over the years of research increased in all crop rotation options from 20 to 55 %, regardless of the background fertilization. As a result of the conducted studies, it was found that the nitrogen content of the easily hydrolyzed significantly depends on the background of mineral nutrition and the conditions of the year, on average for 1998–2021, the decrease in nitrogen of the easily hydrolyzed was 17–22 %. On average, according to the variants of the experiment for 1998–2021, the process of assimilation of liquid phosphorus against the background of NP is more intensive by 8 %. A strong correlation was established between the productivity of crop rotations and total nitrogen against the background of P in 1998 and 2013, nitrogen easily hydrolyzed in 1998 and 2021, mobile phosphorus for all the years of research. The scientific novelty. Monitoring of the assessment of the state of soil fertility makes it possible to monitor, as well as diagnose the degree of anthropogenic impact, make appropriate adjustments to ensure high productivity of crop rotations in a changing climate.

Abstract. The purpose of researches is influence legume crops and mineral fertilizers on crop rotation productivity and soil fertility elements in the conditions of Kaluga region. Methods. The research was carried out in a long-term stationary field experiment on gray forest medium loamy soil. The laying of field experience, observations, records and generalization of research results were carried out in accordance with generally accepted methodological recommendations. Results. It was found that the studied factors had an insignificant effect on the weed propensity, which, against the background of mineral fertilizers and with an increase in the share of legumes in the structure, was slightly higher. On average, during the fourth rotation, the highest crop productivity was obtained in a crop rotation with 40% saturation with legumes, both against the background of fertilization (38.6 c/ha of grain units) and without their use (32.6 c/ha of grain units). Applying of mineral fertilizers contributed to an increase in crop rotation productivity by 18–24 %. On average, for crop rotations, 6.4 c/ha of grain units or 22 % were obtained by applying mineral fertilizers in addition to a background without fertilizers. It’s noted that use of mineral fertilizers had a positive effect on the change some indicators of soil fertility. Availability of exchangeable forms potassium increased by 27 % and mobile phosphorus by 54 % compared to options without fertilizers. And in comparison with the initial state, the content of K2O without fertilizers increased by 17 and by 54 mg/kg of soil against the background of their use, and the content of P2O5 decreased by 27 mg/kg of soil and increased by 66 mg/kg, respectively. With an increase in the share of legumes in the structure of crop rotations from 30 % to 60 %, there was a slight increase in soil fertility, especially against the background of mineral fertilizers. Scientific novelty. The issues of influence legumes and mineral fertilizers on productivity of the fourth rotation of crop rotations and elements soil fertility were considered.

Crop capacity and grain-beet crop rotation productivity as a result of 85-year application of fertilizers under conditions of the Central-Black Earth Region

Fertilizers applied during 85 years in the grain–beet crop rotation provided the most significant (by 12.0– 71.0% to control) an increase in the yield of barley and annual grasses using only the aftereffect of fertilizers, with direct action – sugar beet in the steam link (by 20.9–39.9%). There was a significant increase in the productivity of 1 ha of arable land (by 16.3–35.7% relative to the option without fertilizers). It is proved that an increase in the fertilizer saturation of 1 ha of crop rotation area per 1 kg of NPK increased the yield of sugar beet to the greatest extent, and oats and winter wheat in the clover link to the least. The highest productivity of 1 ha of arable land was provided by a system that included double application in the crop rotation of N135P135K135 for sugar beet in combination with manure of 25 t/ha in a pair (saturation with fertilizers – N30P30K30 + manure 2.8 t/ha).

Productivity of crop rotations depending on the degree of saturation of alfalfa and winter wheat with stubble natural phytocenosis in the Western Caspian region

The photosynthetic activity of alfalfa and winter wheat with PEF in crop rotations was studied at Vympel-2002 LLC in the Khasavyurt district of the Republic of Dagestan. The soil of the experimental plot is meadow-chestnut, heavy loamy, in the arable layer contains humus 2.77%, K2O - 32.8 and P2O5-2.21 mg / 100 g, its density is 1.24 g / cm3, the lowest moisture capacity of the soil layer - 0.6 m, in which the humidity was studied to determine the timing and norms of irrigation - 29.2%. The studies were carried out in three grain-grass crop rotations saturated with alfalfa and winter wheat with PEF from 25 to 75%, and their monocultures. The formation of PEF for green manure after harvesting winter wheat in the second half of summer, in terms of its influence on the photosynthetic activity of crops of subsequent winter wheat in the crop rotation, made it possible to achieve the same high indicators as after such a most valuable predecessor for it as alfalfa. Despite the fact that the latter, due to its multi-cutting, alfalfa forms 2.8 times more leaf surface area during the growing season, in terms of photosynthetic potential of crops (PPP) and net photosynthesis productivity (NPP) it is inferior to winter wheat with PEF in 1.6 and 6.2 times, respectively. PEF phytomass used for green fertilizer, smoothing out the negative impact of its long-term re-sowing on the phytosanitary state of the soil and the yield of the leading grain crop, can become the most acceptable way out of the situation when, due to the current structure of sown areas, winter wheat occupies 60- 80% of the crop rotation area and it has to be placed in the same field for 3-5 years without a change.

Optimization of technological operations in the cultivation of field crops in arid conditions of the Volga Region

The research was carried out in order to identify the possibility and prospects of using resource-saving technologies in six-field grain-and-crop rotation on ordinary chernozem in 2019-2022. Four technologies of growing field crops were tested: traditional, two with differentiated processing and direct sowing. During the research period, the prospects of resource- saving technologies with a complex of means of intensification were revealed. Compared with the traditional one, the yield increase here was 0.30…0.57 t/ha (11.0…21.0 %). The maximum productivity of crop rotation is established in technology with differentiated tillage and with the use of intensification means - 2.40 thousand grain units/ha, which is 0.20 thousand grain units/ha (9.1 %) more than the technology with direct sowing and 0.38…0.61 thousand grain units/ha traditional and resource-saving (extensive background). According to the research results, technological operations are proposed for growing field crops using the AUP-18.05 unit for direct sowing of cereals, sunflower - Kuhn seeder: differentiated tillage in crop rotation (including loosening by 25-27 cm of bee-4.5 for sunflower and soy; for pure steam - without autumn processing; for barley and spring wheat - direct sowing) or direct sowing for the purpose of maximum cost recovery; application of ammonium nitrate in a dose of N40 (before sowing spring wheat and barley, spring fertilizing of winter wheat); the main application of azofoski (N15P15K15) in the cultivation of sunflower and soybeans; treatment of grain crops with the agrochemicals Bionex Kemi, biofungicide Phytosporin, fungicide Soligor, sunflower - agrochemicals Borogum.

The influence of fertilizer systems on plant residues mass of agrophytocoenoses of short-term crop rotation, the balance of soil humus and ecologization of agriculture

Three-year (2020–2022) studies on the black soil of a typical experimental field of the Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University found that on unfertilized variants fertilized with 6t/ha of manure + N64P54K58, 6t/ha of manure + N98P66K92 and 6 t/ha of manure + N126P82K116 according to the use of non-commercial products of agrophytocenoses as organic fertilizer, the dry matter of root residues was 2.64, respectively; 3.89; 4.64 and 5.13 tons, plant residues – 3.63; 5.25; 6.24 and 6.84 tons, and crop rotation productivity – 1.98; 3.42; 4.40 and 4.83 tons of dry matter of the main products and 4.48; 7.84; 10.22 and 11.43 tons of the main products and by-products of crops per hectare of arable land. With an increase in fertilizer application rates, the increase in marketable products of agrophytocenoses is higher than that of plant residues. At the same time, the ratio of the dry mass of the main products and byproducts of agricultural plants to the mass of their root and plant residues, as well as the share of their nonmarketable products, is increasing. A positive balance of soil humus was recorded only in the fields of white mustard and buckwheat, it is negative under the rest of the agrophytocenoses. On unfertilized plots fertilized with 6 tons of manure + N64P54K58, 6 tons of manure + N98P66K92 and 6 tons of manure + N126P82K116 with the use of by-products of agrophytocenoses as organic fertilizer, the balance of humus in the arable layer of typical black soil was positive and was, respectively, 0.34; 0.63; 0.55 and 0.60 t per hectare of crop rotation. When noncommodity crop production was removed from the fields, this indicator was negative in all experimental variants. In general, the share of humus formed from manure, plant residues, green manure and non-commodity crop products in the crop rotation was 0, 36, 31 and 33% on unfertilized plots, respectively; 10, 30, 27 and 33 % – fertilized with 6 t/ha of manure + N64P54K58; 8, 29, 27 and 36 % – fertilized with 6 t/ha of manure + N98P66K92; 7.29, 26 and 38 % – fertilized with 6 t/ha of manure + N126P82K116. According to the indicator of the ecologization coefficient of agriculture, the zero fertilization system (without the application of manure and mineral fertilizers) corresponds to biological farming, the first is ecological, the second and the third – the ecologization of the branch. Agrotechnically efficient is the use of agrophytocenoses by-products as organic fertiliser and ploughing only for a row crop in a five-field crop rotation. Changes in crop rotation productivity and stability of agrocenoses with prolonged use of fertilizers

The article considers the results of many years of field experiment (1968-2018) conducted in the Central part of the Non-Chernozem zone of Russia (Vladimir region). The research was carried out during eleven rotations of the four-field grain crop rotation. The study shows the effect of use of organic and mineral fertilizers applied in various doses and combinations on crop rotation yield, fertility of sod-podzolic sandy loam soil. It was found that the organomineral fertilizer system (manure 10 t/ha + N50P25K60) provided stable crop rotation productivity (on average for eleven rotations) at the level of 39.9 c. e./ha, or 79.7 % higher than the control without fertilizers. The mineral fertilizer system at medium doses of fertilizers (N50P25K60) was at the level of the organomineral system. The organic system was inferior in efficiency to the mineral system, both at medium doses (manure 10 t/ha) and at elevated doses (manure 20 t/ha). At the same time, the long-term use of organic fertilizers provided an increase in the humus content, depending on the dose of litter manure, by 16-36 % compared to the initial values. The use of organic fertilizers led to the stabilization of the content of available forms of potassium in the soil at an average and elevated level, respectively. Stabilization of the content of mobile phosphorus in the soil at the level of average supply was noted in mineral, organomineral and organic fertilizer systems, respectively, with low and medium doses. When using increased doses of fertilizers, there is a further increase in the content of nutrients in the soil. Growing crops in crop rotation without the use of organic and mineral fertilizers gradually led to a decrease in yield. The use of fertilizers provided greater stability of crop yields over the years of the study compared to the variant without fertilizers. The soil in the variants with organic (manure 20 t/ha) and organomineral (manure 10 t/ha + N50P25K60) fertilizer systems was characterized by high values of the main physiological groups of microorganisms. The ratio of the number of amylolytic and proteolytic microorganisms was 1.1-1.2, that indicated a balance in the processes of mineralization of organic matter in the soil and its humification.

Influence of Green and Mineral Fertilizers on Agrochemical Indicators of the Soil and the Yield of Flax Products in Crop Rotations with Short Rotation

In the Central region of the Non-Chernozem zone of the Russian Federation, on sod-podzolic medium loamy soil with a high phosphorus content, 4-field crop rotations with short rotation, with the cultivation of long-leg flax, were studied. The results of changes in agrochemical indicators of the soil and an increase in the yield of flax products during the sowing of flax after new precursors, with the use of a green mass for fertilizing by sowing white mustard, taking into account the mineral fertilizers applied for crop rotation crops, are considered. The positive effect of biofungicide Sternifaga after harvesting barley on the yield of flax products was noted. It was established that the highest yield of flax seed was obtained after the predecessor of white mustard for green feed with sowing of white mustard for green fertilizer in the amount of 5.3 t/ha, flax seed – 1 t/ha, total and tattered flax fiber – 1.7 and 1.8 t/ha with high quality indicators of flax seed corresponding to number 2.5. It has been shown that with the help of the soil biofungicide Sternifaga (the active substance is the spores of the fungus Trichoderma harziannum VISR-18, titer 1010 CFU/g), intended for the decomposition of plant residues and the suppression of soil phytopathogens, it is possible to improve the soil. In the crop rotation, where the vico–oatmeal mixture was sown for green fodder with a lean sowing of white mustard for green fertilizer, the yield of trusts increased by 0.5 t/ha and amounted to 2.2 t/ha, total fiber – by 0.1, trepan – by 0.2 t/ha, the quality of trusts improved by 0.5 numbers, crop rotation productivity increased by 13% after the predecessor of barley using biofungicide compared to the crop rotation, where flax was sown repeatedly for 3 years in a row.

The effect of microbiological and mineral fertilizers on the productivity of fodder crop rotation and the fertility of sod-podzolic soil

Relevance. For the first time, new biofertilizers Azotovite and Phosphatovite in combination with mineral and organic fertilizers were studied on sod-podzolic soil (83% of the arable area) in the conditions of the Novgorod region in the fodder crop rotation. The study of the influence of the methods of using microbiological fertilizers together with mineral and organic fertilizers in the developed crop rotation is relevant.Methods. Studies for 2019–2022 in the fodder crop rotation according to the 2 × 4 scheme were carried out on sod-podzolic soil underlain by clays. We studied three methods of using Azotovite (A) and Phosphatovite (F) — (factor B) on two backgrounds of complete mineral fertilizer (factor A), affecting the yield and nutritional value of crops in crop rotation.Results. Application in technological operations (twice) azotovite and phosphatovite (pickling of seed material at 2 l/t and non-root spraying in the phases of plant formation at a height of up to 30 cm, 1 l/ha of each preparation) together with mineral fertilizers for the estimated yield ensured the productivity of the phytomass of the vico-oat mixture of 35 t/ha with high nutritional value: collection of dry matter (SV) — 11.0 t/ha, digestible protein — 0.83 t/ha, exchange energy — 32.0 GJ/ha. The use of this technology provided for the rotation of crop rotation high nutritional value of feed from 1 ha of digestible protein — 0.45 t, exchange energy — 33.0 GJ, SV — 5.3 t with a low energy intensity of production thousand tons of units 2.6 GJ and an increase in the energy potential of the soil for crop rotation by more than 35 GJ/ha.

The Productivity of Crop Rotation Depending on the Included Plants and Soil Tillage

Crop diversification in rotations is an important part of sustainable crop production. The aim of this research was to analyse soil tillage and crop rotation influence on the yield (t ha−1) of different field crops, their energy yield (GJ ha−1) and the economical profitability (EUR ha−1) of crop rotation. The field trial was conducted in Latvia during four harvest seasons (2017–2020) in a long-term experiment that started in 2009. Three crop rotations with a different share of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) were studied: 100% wheat (repeated sowings), 67% wheat (three-year rotation with winter oilseed rape (Brassica napus ssp. oleifera) and two years following wheat) and 25% wheat (four-year rotation: field bean (Vicia faba)–wheat–winter oilseed rape–spring barley (Hordeum vulgare). Conventional and reduced soil tillage systems were used for rotation variants. Crop rotations “67% wheat” and “25% wheat” ensured significantly higher average wheat grain yields in comparison to “100% wheat”. Wheat and oilseed rape were the most valuable crops in terms of accumulated energy and economic value in this trial. Higher energy yields were gained from variants in the rotations “67% wheat” and “25% wheat”. Average gross profit was higher from crop rotations with diverse crops, mainly due to the positive forecrop effect on winter wheat.

Phytosanitary indicators of fodder crops under using organic cultivation technology

The article provides data based on a four-year study of five cultivation technologies of different intensity, including organic. On the example of seven crops of fodder crop rotation, the effectiveness of controlling phytosanitary indicators - the number and mass of weeds, the spread of diseases and the number of insect pests, which are an obstacle to the widespread use of ecological cultivation technologies, was studied. The results of the research made it possible to recommend perennial grasses up to 3 years of use for inclusion in fodder crop rotations in order to improve the phytosanitary condition of crops, and corn in order to obtain high fodder crop rotation productivity. For the cultivation of forage crops, the use of organic technology is fully justified, as it contributed to the reduction in the abundance of weeds, minimized the prevalence of diseases of annual and perennial grasses, corn, reduced the number of pests; provided increase in productivity compared to extensive technology.

Replenishment of Humus due to Crop-Root Residues in Flax and Crop Rotations

In the Central region of the Non-Chernozem zone of Russia on sod-podzolic light loamy soil in a long stationary experiment in flax crop rotations, the process of replenishing humus due to crop-root residues was studied. Alternation of crops in the crop rotation in 2004–2011: pure steam – winter rye with sowing of perennial grasses (red clover and timofeevka) – perennial grasses of the 1st year of use – perennial grasses of the 2nd year of use – flax – potato – barley – oats. In 2012–2018, potatoes were excluded from the crop rotation. The contribution of cultivated crops to the accumulation of soil organic matter varied. The largest amount of crop-root residues (6.8 t/ha) remained in the soil after harvesting perennial grasses, which provided a positive humus balance of +1.35 t/ha. In the crop rotation with potatoes without the use of fertilizers, the humus deficit was –0.20 t/ha, with the exclusion of potatoes from the crop rotation, the deficit decreased to –0.05 t/ha per year. The use of fertilizers increased the productivity of crop rotations by an average of 75%, the amount of crop-root residues increased by 10.6 t/ha or 58%, which allowed to obtain a positive balance of humus in the soil. The use of fertilizers at a dose of (NPK)200 (manure 5 t/ha + (NPK)135 and manure 5.7 t/ha + (NPK)120) in an 8-pole crop rotation with pure steam and potatoes when saturated by 25% with perennial grasses provided a humus balance of +0.17 t/ha per year, in 7-full crop rotation with pure steam and without potatoes at saturation by 28.5% with perennial grasses – +0.43 t/ha per year.

Agroecological assessment of short crop rotation on sod-podzolic soil

In the conditions of drained lands with unsatisfactory work of reclamation systems, in the Polissia zone it became possible to grow commercially attractive crops, in particular, such as winter rapeseed and corn for grain. A short-rotation crop rotation was analyzed: lupine — winter rapeseed — winter rye — corn, on the basis of which various variants of the fertilization system were studied, including by replacing litter manure with siderate and by-products of all crops in combination with the recommended for the zone and increased (intensive) mineral norms fertilizers. The goal of the task was to determine the optimal agrochemical support for grain crop rotation to obtain stable crop productivity and preserve soil fertility. It was noted that during the 2016–2020 research, during the growing season of agricultural crops, the reserves of productive moisture in the meter-long layer of drained sod-podzolic sandy soil decreased to 60–80 mm, that is, to a critical level. It was established that the overall productivity of the crop rotation depended on its saturation with corn, the grain yield of which was 6.01–7.13 t/ha on average over 5 years at different levels of organic and mineral nutrition. The highest yield of grain and fodder units from 1 ha of crop rotation area (4.23 and 4.52 tons, respectively) was obtained when by-products were applied together with an increased rate of mineral fertilizers (N67P84K91). It was established that the replacement of litter manure with the by-products of grain, leguminous and oilseed crops as an organic fertilizer, together with the use of the recommended (N45P56K61) and increased (N67P84K91) mineral fertilizer rates, does not reduce the productivity of crop rotation, ensures a deficit-free nitrogen balance and the annual accumulation of humus in the amount of 320 and 440 kg, respectively, which guarantees extended reproduction and increased soil fertility.

Efficiency of different tillage, fertilization systems under short crop rotation and their influence on phytosanitary condition of agrocenoses

The main restraining factor of the widespread introduction of minimization of mechanical tillage into the domestic agricultural practice was and remains the problem of deterioration of the phytosanitary state of agrophytocenoses and the soil environment. Intensive use of pesticides, especially in violation of the regulations of their use, does not solve the problem, and often, on the contrary, aggravates it. Ukraine ranks sixth-seventh in the world in terms of contamination of plant products with pesticide residues. Agricultural practice proves that all pesticides are toxic to humans, and many of them also have mutagenic activity. They also cause great harm to living nature, suppressing the biological activity of soils, destroying pollinating insects, etc. Given this, the value of mechanical cultivation in regulating the phytosanitary state of agrobiocenoses and soil will increase, especially in ecological and organic agriculture. Research (2020– 2022) on the chernozems of the typical experimental field of Bila Ttserkva National Agrarian University established changes in the phytosanitary state of the agrobiocenoses of the field specialized grain five-field crop rotation and its productivity under different systems of the main cultivation of the chernozem soil of a typical low-humus medium loam in the Right Bank Forest Steppe of Ukraine, namely: shelf-disc the treatment has an advantage only in terms of significant limitation of dark brown spotting on winter wheat for sowing after buckwheat. In the remaining cases, it was significantly inferior to control. Indicators of the phytosanitary state of agrobiocenoses significantly worsen with constant soil disking. The abundance of weeds is insignificantly lower under differentiated than shelf-disc cultivation. Fertilizer systems did not affect weediness, but worsened other indicators of phytosanitary status. With differentiated cultivation, the population of larvae of the winter weevil and the prevalence of helminth sporous root rot, powdery mildew and septoriosis of winter wheat after buckwheat, as well as the abundance of the meadow butterfly and wireworm in the agrophytocenosis of corn, are significantly reduced. Productivity of crop rotation is almost at the same level for shelf-disc and differentiated tillage. With chisel-disk and disk processing, it is significantly reduced. In a five-field field row crop rotation, differentiated tillage is recommended, in which deep (25–27 cm) plowing is performed only in one field under the row crop, where manure is applied, and in the rest of the fields, plowing and disc tillage to different depths, taking into account biological features of agricultural crops.

Changes in Fertility of Alluvial Meadow Soil under Different Fertilizer Systems in Vegetable Crop Rotation

In a laboratory and field experiment conducted in the climatic conditions of the Moscow region, it was found that after 2 rotations (6 years) saturated vegetable crop rotation (late white cabbage – carrots – table beets) on alluvial meadow medium loamy soil with annual application of biocompost at a dose of 6 t/ha (total of 18 t/ha), the humus content in the soil stabilized, a tendency to accumulation of alkaline hydrolyzable nitrogen fraction (+6%) was noted and the consumption of mobile forms of phosphorus (–4%) and potassium (–6%), as well as soil decompression. The use of mineral fertilizers in single and one-and-a-half doses revealed a tendency to decrease the content of humus in the soil (by 3–4%), hydrolyzable nitrogen (by 7–8%) and the accumulation of mobile phosphorus (by 1–15%) and potassium (by 3–22%). The introduction of a low dose of mineral fertilizers led to a deterioration of soil fertility, a decrease in the content of humus (–5%), mobile phosphorus and potassium (by 5 and 17%). Slightly more effective was the introduction of biocompost annually at a dose of 3 t/ha. With the joint application of biocompost (6 t/ha) and a single dose of NPK, stabilization of the humus content in the soil at the initial level, accumulation of hydrolyzable nitrogen (by 9%), mobile phosphorus and potassium (by 5–6%) was noted. During 2 rotations, there was a decrease in the content of exchangeable calcium (by 1–10% from the initial level) and magnesium (by 3–11%) and weak acidification of the soil (a decrease in pHKCl by 1–2% from the initial indicator). It was found that the average productivity of arable land without the use of fertilizers was 50 t/ha, increased by 14 when the half dose was applied, by 28 when the single dose was applied, and by 42% when the half dose was applied, the use of biocompost at doses of 3 and 6 t/ha provided an increase in productivity by 8–16%. With the joint annual application of biocompost with a single dose of NPK, the average productivity of crop rotation increased by 26–35%.

Goal. To assess the direction of the nature of changes in the productivity of 5-field crop rotations and to determine their energy efficiency on the podzolized chornozem of the Right-Bank Forest Steppe under the influence of the crop rotation factor and fertilizer systems. Methods. Field, laboratory, quantitative, comparative calculation, mathematical and statistical. Results. It was established that the total productivity of crop rotations depended on the share of grain, technical and fodder crops, and applied fertilizer systems. The output of grain units from 1 ha of the crop rotation area for 80–100% crop rotation saturation with grain crops was 5.95–9.10 t, for 40–60% saturation with technical crops — 5.89–9.01 t, for 40–60% saturation with fodder crops — 6.06–8.40 t, the coefficient of energy efficiency — 3.31–8.39 standard units. The largest harvest of grain units (9.43 tons) was provided by crop rotation with 20% of perennial leguminous grasses, 60% of cereals, and 20% of sugar beets under the organo-mineral fertilizer system. The coefficient of energy efficiency was 6.63 standard units. Conclusions. In conditions of sufficient moisture of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe on podzolized chernozems, during the development of the structure of the sown areas of the crop rotation, it is necessary to take into account the ratio between different groups of crops, which will ensure an increase in the efficiency of agriculture. During the current energy crisis, it is advisable to correct crop rotations in the direction of saturating crop production with «energy-cheap» crops.

Study of the Long-Term Effect of Mineral Fertilizers in a Stationary Experiment in the Steppe Volga Region

The analysis of the results obtained over 48 years in a long stationary experiment with fertilizers, which is located in the Saratov region (Russia) on the southern heavy loam chernozem, is presented. The influence of various types and doses of mineral fertilizers on the productivity of 6-field crop rotation, yield and grain quality of cultivated crops (winter and spring wheat, millet, barley, oats) has been studied. The optimal doses of fertilizers for the arid steppe of the Volga region have been identified, providing maximum yield increases and the greatest payback of 1 kg of mineral fertilizers. The influence of the conditions of humidification of the growing season on the yield of grain crops, the accumulation of protein in the grain and the removal of nutrients from the soil is shown. The scales of carbon losses, gross nitrogen and phosphorus reserves have been established both in untreated soil and with the systematic application of various doses of mineral fertilizers over 48 years of observations.

Productivity, quality, and nutrient uptake of intensive forage crop rotations based on corn in sandy soil (northern Morocco)

<span>Intensive dairy farming systems in the sandy soil of northwestern Morocco are based on three successive forage crops per year, including corn. The aim was to evaluate the productivity and the quality of different intensive crop successions based on corn in sandy soil. Three forage crops per year (winter, spring, and summer cropping seasons) were tested according to six successions: 1. fallow-corn-corn, 2. oat-corn-corn, 3. berseem-corn-corn, 4. pea/triticale-corn-corn, 5. oat-soybean-corn, and 6. berseem-corn-soybean. Each succession of crops was evaluated in two years field experiment using a randomized complete block design. Results revealed that oat-corn-corn and pea/triticale-corn-corn successions produced the highest dry biomass (46.5 t ha<sup>-1</sup> year<sup>-1</sup>). The crop succession of berseem-corn-soybean resulted in the lowest biomass (30.8 t ha<sup>-1 </sup>year<sup>-1</sup>). The highest net energy for lactation was recorded at oat-corn-corn and pea/triticale-corn-corn successions (303 10<sup>3</sup> MJ ha<sup>-1</sup> year<sup>-1</sup>). The crop successions based on one corn (oat-soybean-corn and berseem-corn-soybean) recorded the lowest net energy for lactation (195.5 10<sup>3</sup> MJ ha<sup>-1</sup> year<sup>-1</sup>). The oat-corn-corn, pea/triticale-corn-corn, and oat-soybean-corn successions recorded the highest crude protein values (3.9 t ha<sup>-1</sup> year<sup>-1</sup>). Soil organic matter and the content of soil on total N, P, and Mg were similar for the different crop successions at the end of the experimental years.</span>

A study of the effect of mineral fertilizers as a factor in improving environmental safety and productivity of crop rotation

The crop rotation productivity depends on the crops and chemicals used, especially fertilizers. Cultivation of crops makes it possible to obtain environmentally safe products due to biologically correctly selected predecessors and with the correct alternation of crops in space and time. This allows for savings in plant protection products and differentiated use of fertilizers. Based on the results of 28-year research into the yield and productivity of crop rotation with the use of various doses of fertilizers, the regularities of changes in the content of mobile phosphorus and exchangeable potassium in the soddy-podzolic medium loamy soil of Vologda Oblast were revealed, and regression models that reflect their relationship with the productivity of crop rotation were built. The results made it possible to build a non-linear regression model that reflects quantitative features of the dependence of crop rotation productivity on the levels of mobile phosphorus and exchangeable potassium. With an increase in the content of mobile elements in the soil in the case of mobile phosphorus, the productivity of crop rotation will increase with a slight slowdown with each single dose, and in the case of exchangeable potassium it will increase evenly.
