Foreign-Economic Priorities of the Development of Investment Infrastructure of Agri-Food Production Entities

The article considers foreign economic priorities of investment infrastructure development of agri-food production entities of Ukraine. A comprehensive methodological approach to assessing the effective diversification of investment infrastructure of agri-food production entities has been developed. It is substantiated diagnostics of attracting foreign direct investment in the development of agri-food production allows forming an export-oriented type of state economy, identify the main sources of technical equipment for agribusiness and master innovative technologies, form production potential and mechanism for implementing strategic investment goals. An algorithm for calculating the level of attractiveness of the investment infrastructure of agri-food production entities has been developed. The dynamics of foreign trade in agri-food products of the steppe zone of Ukraine is given. The amount of foreign direct investment from foreign economic activity of agri-food production entities in the economy of the regions of the Steppe zone of Ukraine is determined. The geography of agri-food exports of the steppe zone of Ukraine in the international trade markets is presented. The forecast volume of exports of agri-food products in the regions is calculated and the limit parameters of indicators of attractiveness of investment infrastructure of subjects at attraction of direct foreign investments from foreign economic operations are defined

LEAPME: Learning-based Property Matching with Embeddings

Data integration tasks such as the creation and extension of knowledge graphs involve the fusion of heterogeneous entities from many sources. Matching and fusion of such entities require to also match and combine their properties (attributes). However, previous schema matching approaches mostly focus on two sources only and often rely on simple similarity measurements. They thus face problems in challenging use cases such as the integration of heterogeneous product entities from many sources.We therefore present a new machine learning-based property matching approach called LEAPME (LEArning-based Property Matching with Embeddings) that utilizes numerous features of both property names and instance values. The approach heavily makes use of word embeddings to better utilize the domain-specific semantics of both property names and instance values. The use of supervised machine learning helps exploit the predictive power of word embeddings.Our comparative evaluation against five baselines for several multi-source datasets with real-world data shows the high effectiveness of LEAPME. We also show that our approach is even effective when training data from another domain (transfer learning) is used.

Women, anger and emotion management in Love Island

ABSTRACT This paper uses Hochschild’s theory of emotion management as a theoretical framework to interrogate women’s expressions of anger on Love Island. Using both critical discourse and textual analysis, we provide a comprehensive analytical investigation of how anger is shaped across the intersections of gender, race and class, and how it is mediated through the genre of Reality TV. Our findings demonstrate moments in which women on Love Island do not conform to gendered, classed and racialised “rules of emotion”. Rather, we argue that they embody an abject femininity by latently expressing their anger in order to negotiate relational issues of power and subjectivity. We further understand these expressions of anger as demonstrations of female solidarity within Love Island’s strictly heteronormative power structures, which reinforces the notion that anger is a potentially productive entity, and is one that women can mobilise in order to fight oppression (Audre Lorde, 1981). However, our findings also demonstrate that women who express anger continue to be subject to provocation, sanctions and belittlement, both within production and among fellow participants. For women who are Black, and women who are working class, these processes of emotion management have intensified.

Systematic Approaches for Optimal Scheduling of Straight Pipelines with Batch-Centric Formulations

Scheduling of the transportation of liquids by multiproduct pipelines has been receiving considerable attention in the literature. The preferred methods for solving this problem rely on mathematical programming and use continuous-time formulations that move the virtual entities of batches instead of the real entities of products. Such batch-centric formulations require the user to convert the products initially in the pipeline into batches, which is trivial to do for linear or branched systems with a single input node but not for straight systems with multiple input nodes. While the dependence of solution quality on the initial batch sequence has been recognized early, no systematic procedure covering all possibilities has been presented yet. In this paper, we propose a novel scheduling algorithm that starts generating all possible initial batch sequences with a new planning formulation, before exploring all generated sequences with either a sequential or simultaneous approach, using the scheduling formulation of Liao, Q.; [ AIChE J. 2019, 65, e16712]. We then generalize this formulation to consider automatic batch selection, by including the logical constraints of the planning model.

Spaces for recording and production in the streaming age

The creation, curation, and publication of recorded audio/video content is no longer restricted to professional recording studios and production entities. More accessible and affordable means of audio/video capture, broadcasting, and distributing (primarily through streaming and web-based methods) have given increase to the prominence of self-produced content. The expectations and demands for recording equipment and environments in an era of increasing on-demand and self-op functionality lead to a new set of design parameters. For spaces like these, complex technological and architectural systems are often required for seamless, uninterrupted, and unhindered content capture and delivery. For other spaces, such as Guarneri Hall in Chicago, the architectural and technological designs meet the needs of both high-quality audio/video recording and live streaming alongside a live “in-room” audience – all achieved within a straightforward design approach and constrained budget. This paper will focus on emerging space types which are designed to meet recording needs with an eye toward efficiency, simplicity, and the context of their delivery media.

Induced Agricultural Production Organizations under the Transition of Rural Land Market: Evidence from China

This paper focuses on the impact of a new rural land reform, the Separation of Three Rights Reform, on changes in China’s agricultural production organizations. We illustrate the impact of market and nonmarket mechanisms on allocating agricultural production factors under the new rural land market transition through a land system and factor allocation model. Based on the expansion paths of different types of factors in the model, we classify the development of Chinese agricultural production entities into “extensional expansion,” “labor-intensive expansion,” “land-intensive expansion,” and “exit of agricultural production.” These agricultural production paths correspond to agricultural enterprises, family farms, agricultural cooperatives, and small farmers’ exit. Further, empirical and economic geography analysis results show that the interaction of market and nonmarket mechanisms is the main drive that induces the current diversified organizations in rural China. Thus, this paper provides a comprehensive explanation of changing patterns of an agricultural production organization under the transition of the rural land market.

Channeling globalism: Canal+ as transnational French genre film producer

This article examines Canal+’s contribution to the recent or contemporary consolidation of three genres traditionally excluded from the French filmmaking landscape: romantic comedies, horror films, and teen movies. The many films from these emergent French genres funded and in frequent cases also more indirectly supported by Canal+ speak to the organization’s status as a transnational, transmedia production entity. Moreover, analyzing the new French genre trends in whose burgeoning the company has been instrumental suggests the difficulties of unpicking geo-cultural allegiances and influences in an ever more multidirectional, multiplatform, cross-hybridizing mediasphere. This article considers the case study films Alibi.com (2017) and Grave (2016) to illustrate the fact that, like the European audiovisual mainstream as a whole, French genre films are bound up in an increasingly transnational and complex intertextual web - a state of affairs promoted by multinational conglomerates such as Canal+. It nonetheless suggests that such French iterations of US-originated genres appropriate and transform rather than merely citing, echoing, or emulating existing models. What is more, drawing on theorizations of aesthetics and affect suggests that these processes can foster new identities.

Popularity in Social Networks. The Case of Argentine Beekeeping Production Entities

The context of the COVID pandemic has accelerated the pace of the digitalization of society, especially of its business fabric. Among the various applications offered by the Internet, social networking platforms have been identified as powerful tools that organizations have at their disposal for the development of their online business activities. This is due to the closeness and trust generated by word-of-mouth communication. In this context, the aim of this article is to identify which organizational characteristics are directly related to popularity on social networks, measured by the number of followers on these accounts. In order to achieve this objective, the Argentinean beekeeping organizations have been taken as a case study and the fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis method has been used. The results obtained allow us to validate the different organizational factors which, beyond the use of Facebook itself, lead to better results for the organizations in their social network strategies. These factors include their cooperative nature, localization, environmental sensitivity and presence on other digital platforms.

The government provides more effective and efficient public services in the context of accelerating regional economic development through vision and mission, superior programs and activities directed at developing local potential according to the characteristics of the basic needs of the local community by taking into account the available resources that can be used as a mainstay sector to attract tourists from outside the area. The local government of Kediri City supports this effort with the flagship program of Kampung Keren (Creative and Independent). The research was carried out in the Kampung Dalem Village, Kediri City with the objectives of the research being (1) analyzing the types of regional superior product potential based on the type of marketing product entity, stakeholder participation, and marketing strategies in the Kampung Keren clusters, (2) analyzing the barriers to potential product development superior areas supporting the Kampung Keren clusters, (3) analyzing the causes of obstacles to the development of potential superior products from the areas supporting the Kampung Keren clusters, (4) analyzing SWOT-QSPM-based development strategies for regional superior products based on Kampung Keren clusters. The methodology is descriptive and the data is collected through discussion, documentation, and direct observation with 30 informants or respondents. The results of the study are 50 (fifty) potential local products that can be developed to support urban tourism based on the Kampung Keren cluster with various types of marketing product entities, especially services, with the largest community participation, and the level of promotion that must be more varied. The obstacles are especially in terms of limited budget and the main cause of the COVID-19 pandemic which requires the government to reallocate the budget for the development of Kampung Keren for prevention, handling and recovery of the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. government stakeholders, entrepreneurs, citizens, media, academics, in providing participation in goods, money, thoughts, expertise, personnel.

Determining The Factors of Employee’s Commitment and Loyalty in A Malaysian Internet-based Company

One of the main challenges faced by most organizations is to encourage their workers to dedicate themselves towards their organizations. Organizations realized that to reach its goals, it is very important for them to have a group of committed workforce who are highly efficent, motivated and loyal. With the current high competition between companies, employee’s loyalty is one of the factors that will determine the success of organizations as well as maintaining their competitiveness in the market through improved productivity. Thus, organizations are constantly finding ways in maintaining and retaining their employees, for example, by looking back at their compensation and benefits, management styles, working environment, job security, employee’s performance, employee’s satisfaction and career development. This study main objective was to investigate the impact of compensation and benefits, career development, management style and working environment towards employee’s commitment and loyalty in an organization. Using the data collected from 108 employees of an internet-based company in Malaysia and analyzed using SPSS Statistics, this study has established that all four factors have a critical impact on employee’s loyalty with the management style as the most influencing factor. It is hope that this study can provide a huge understanding on some of the factors that could influence employee’s loyalty in organizations and hence, preparing them to be a productive entity.

Cambios en propiedades de suelos en entidad cañera, y su incidencia en los indicadores agroindustriales

The research took place in the sugarcane production entity "El Limpio", in Cienfuegos, Cuba, with the objective of identifying changes in soil properties, and the State Indicators that affect the agribusiness efficiency in the sugar extraction process. For the analysis and organization of the research, the Manual of Procedures for the implementation of Sustainable Land Management was used and other theoretical and empirical methods were also applied, with their corresponding techniques. The data were recorded in worksheets and matrices. The parameters and qualifications were evaluated according to the aforementioned Manual, applying statistical and mathematical methods. The results are: characterization of the sugarcane entity based on Sustainable Land Management; identification of specific indicators to evaluate their status in the implementation of Sustainable Management and identify changes in soil properties that most affect agro-industrial efficiency. As the main conclusion: that the entity has conditions that compromise both the efficiency of its processes and those of the sugar industry to which it is taxed, which could find answers in the systematic implementation of the Sustainable Land Management Plan that is drawn up to this entity.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND INNOVATION IN SMEs MANUFACTURERS OF WOOD FURNITURE IN TEQUISQUIAPAN, QUERÉTARO, MEXICO.

ABSTRACT The furniture sector has traditionally been a resource and labor-intensive industry characterized by the coexistence of both local craft-based firms and large volume producers. This work analyses management in the relationship between financial practices innovation processes in furniture companies. Financial management and the innovation are relevant factors for what wooden furniture manufacturers companies, remain in the market, this implies to transmit and systematize knowledge and ideas for product development with innovative designs and making competitive advantages. Research shows that lack of financial management skills and the application of innovative practices are more factors affecting the competitiveness of these productive entities. Formation of innovation policy of the enterprise when entering international markets

Innovative processes are the foundation of the current method of management and a means of providing competitive advantages to individual enterprises (firms), industries, regions, countries. Strengthening the innovative orientation of the socio-economic formation of Ukraine seems to be a strategic task of the national financial policy, guidelines for the creation of a competitive state economy. A significant basis for the development of Ukraine’s competitive advantages in the international arena is the innovative activity of industrial production entities. The formation of innovative activities of current enterprises insists on the development of a fresh mechanism of interaction between producers and customers on the basis of coordination of their interests. Creators of innovative ideas and producers of innovative products (services) are obliged to anticipate the need for new goods, to encourage customers to use new technologies and new products in their activities. Therefore, the innovative activity of the enterprise as soon as possible must be used to use an effective tool – innovation management, which involves the use of tools, methods, technologies of management throughout the formation of innovation policy of the enterprise. The current circumstances of highly competitive markets necessitate the renewal and modernization of production technologies, development and production of new competitive products, the application of new approaches to management and organization of production, which can only guarantee investments aimed at innovation. Thus, the object of scientific research in the area of management of innovation investment processes is to identify more flexible opportunities for mobilization of financial resources and improve the mechanism of their direction to innovative development. Since the creation of innovation policy of the enterprise must focus on the market and the consumer, market research should be conducted, which should be preceded by a thorough study of the innovative product.

7 Digestive Physiology of Pigs Lecture: Past, Present and Future

Abstract Digestive Physiology of Pigs (DPP) was organized in 1979 to promote exchange of information among scientists working in swine digestive physiology and nutrition. The objective of this presentation is to provide an overview of the past, present, and future of the most important global scientific event in the fields of pig gut physiology and nutrition. To date, fourteen symposia have been conducted including the 12th International Symposium, which was held in Keystone, Colorado (DPP-2012). In order to facilitate the activities of DPP-2012, DPP-North America was established as a non-profit entity with a mission to collaborate internationally to “establish triennial venues that present the most current research and discovery information relative to digestive physiology of pigs.” Regarding DPP-2012, 403 attendees from 28 countries were in attendance, and 250 abstracts were accepted for presentation. The attendees represented academia, industry, and major swine production entities. Today, in addition to digestive physiology and nutrition, the global DPP community has evolved to include topics such as immunology, microbiology, and the use of pigs as a model for human health. As part of the global DPP community, DPP-North America continues to work with the global DPP community to establish global networks, to learn about the latest scientific discoveries, to promote academia-industry partnerships, to involve and train the next generation of scientists, and to contribute to sustainable pork systems. Since its establishment, DPP-North America has sponsored digestive physiology lectures at the annual ASAS Midwest meetings and has provided travel scholarships for North American graduate students to attend and present research at international DPP meetings.

A Commonsian approach to crime: the Mafia and the economic power to withhold

Abstract This paper is a plea for an institutionalist approach to crime. The argument is based on the Italian Mafia’s infiltration of legitimate businesses. The focus is on the power dimension of this infiltration. I begin by emphasising how the traditional branch of crime economics is unable to correctly address this issue. I then use the tools provided by Commons, especially his definition of property and the capacity to withhold and his distinction between will-in-vacuo and will-in-action. Access to property rights over productive entities for Mafiosi provides a perfect illustration of how the capacity to hold rights turns into a power to withhold them from others. Legal Mafia-owned enterprises should not be seen as a step toward normalisation of the Mafia, but rather as a mark of the extension of their criminal power.

AUTOMATED CONTROL SYSTEM FOR STONE CRUSHING PLANT

The issues of automation of production processes are currently not losing their relevance. Many existing devices and systems operate in manual or semi-automatic mode, which leads to known problems. The methods of connecting system elements and the choice of protocols for transmitting signals between them are quite well-established, however, due to the emergence of new devices and communication channels with improved characteristics, the issues of choosing methods and algorithms for the operation of such systems require modification. As a criterion for the quality of the constructed system, an assessment of the reliability of the system is used, provided that the specified time constraints on the performance of the main tasks are met. The elements of novelty of the presented solution are the use of domestically produced equipment at all stages of the system operation, as well as some solutions for the choice of communication channels and signal transmission protocols. Note that the main elements of novelty relate to the software implementation of the system, the description of which is beyond the scope of this article and is planned to be published in a separate work.
 Purpose. The aim of the work is to develop the structure of an automated control system for a stone crushing plant.
 Methodology. The work uses the methods of systems analysis, the theory of signal transmission and the theory of algorithms.
 Results. The use of the presented solution made it possible to implement a simpler and more efficient hardware and software model of the control system, which will reduce the number of failures of various subsystems of the stone crushing plant. In addition, some new features have been introduced, such as the ability to remotely control and receiving data to accounting software.
 Practical implications. The obtained results are advisable to be applied by production entities carrying out activities, one of the elements of which is the use of crushing plants and complexes.

Teaching Activities to Contribute to the Environmental Education of the Agricultural Engineer

The research aims to develop teaching activities to contribute to the Environmental Education of the future Agricultural Engineer at the Municipal University Center (CUM) Sagua de Tánamo, based on the most up-to-date knowledge about existing environmental problems. The practical contribution is given in the proposal of educational activities of an environmental nature that involve productive entities, peasants and the family itself with the collaboration of community organizations and institutions. Its practical significance consists in the possibility of implementation by teachers to promote environmental training in students of this career, from the Chemistry discipline, contributing to a greater preparation to face the existing environmental problems in the territory. The scientific novelty lies in the conception used when planning teaching activities, to actively involve various members of the community in the development of the production process, which will allow to obtain encouraging results in the teaching-learning process. Theoretical, empirical, experimental methods and documentary review were used. Its practical significance consists in its comprehensive application from a systemic, humanistic and integrating approach to transform the modes of action of students and affects their training.

The Top 102 Most Cited Publications Relevant to Dental Education

Background: Growth and development in dental education globally depend on effective experience sharing and advocation of evidence-based practice, preferably tested via vigorous peer evaluation. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the most cited dental education publications. The objectives were to identify the most productive entities, and the most frequently investigated themes and specialties. Methods: A keyword literature search was performed on 1st June 2020 to identify publications relevant to dental education. PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, and Campbell Collaboration databases were searched. Publications that dealt with dental education were included. Irrelevant publications were manually excluded by the authors, and disagreement was resolved by the senior author. Bibliographic data of the top 102 entries (some with equal citation ranks) were obtained from Scopus and analyzed using Bibliometrix and VOSviewer for characterization of recurring contributors and themes. Results: The top publications included 83 original articles, 15 reviews, 3 books, and 1 online document, written by 30 different authors, with 38 publications from dental journals not dedicated to education, and with an average of 5.5 citations per year. The most productive author was William Hendrickson. The most productive institutions were from Europe and the United States. There were 11 papers focused on operative dentistry, 9 on endodontology, 4 on special care dentistry, 2 on community dentistry, 2 on periodontology, and 2 on implantology. Within the top 102 list, 21 publications focused on the stress experienced by dental students at school. A multiple ANCOVA indicates that citation counts in these highly cited publications are associated with a number of authors and document types, such as “reviews/books/online document” compared with original articles (p<0.001). Conclusion: Influential dental education studies were published on a variety of platforms. Over the past 20 years, the field witnessed the emergence of highly cited reports/articles. Similar to influential papers in various fields, the number of authors per top-cited dental education publications appeared to be associated with high citations indicating top quality and high appreciation/acceptance of the articles involved.

R&D Investment Competition and Efficiency in a Mixed Duopoly Model, with Endogenous Spillover

In this paper, a mixed duopoly model is used to explain how ownership structure influences the innovation performances of firms. A three stage-game is adopted in the study. In first stage, firms make R&D expenditure which leads to a profit increasing; in the second stage, firms choose the level of technological improvement they would like to share with the rival; and production quantity will be decided in the final stage. The theory explains that as long as public firms continue their dual roles as productive entities and social safety nets, they cannot be purely profit-oriented, and continue to have poor innovation performance.

Development of an advanced MES for the simulation and optimization of industry 4.0 process

The concept of Industry 4.0 has been developed a lot from a theoretical point of view. However, the real applications on production lines remain few in number, due to the difficulties of interoperability between the different production entities and also due to the lack of a control system adapted to the expected flexibility and to the management of the data generated. This article focuses on the development and deployment of a manufacturing execution system (MES) on a production system 4.0. The development stages of the system are explained in detail. The new functionalities and the expected level of performance impose a new logic in the design of advanced systems for controlling and optimizing production. Finally, a proof of concept of an MES was developed and tested on a new technology platform 4.0.
