Exfoliated Pd decorated graphene oxide nanosheets (PdNP–GO/P123): Non-toxic, ligandless and recyclable in greener Hiyama cross-coupling reaction

Graphene oxide nanosheets were applied as a support for Pd nanoparticles in Hiyama reaction of various aryl halides and triethoxyphenylsilane to generate biaryl derivatives in aqueous conditions. Addition of surfactant during the catalysis caused a significant increase in yields of products through well-exfoliation of PdNP–GO. Among various studied surfactants, P123 showed superior activity rather to other surfactants, SDS and CTAB. This heterogeneous catalytic system has attained the advantages of being non-toxic, available, recyclable, ligand-free, and compatible to reaction medium.

The effect of quality and different levels of irrigation on the growth and yield of maize seeds in kerman, Iran

The present study aims to investigate the effect of wastewater on the yield of maize seeds based on randomized blocks with three frequencies. The treatments were applied in terms of two types of water qualities (Q1: well water and Q2: urban wastewater) as primary factors and three percent of water need (I1=100, I2=85, and I3=70) were regarded as secondary factors. The results showed that the treatment using purification wastewater, show more significant yield level than the other treatment approach using well water. The application of a 100-percent water need with wastewater in comparison to the treatment with an 85-percent water need culminated in a 4.6 percent increase in production yield, 6.7 percent boost in seed weight, 4.4 percent increase in the number of seeds in a row, as well as 3.5 percent boost in the number of seed rows. Also, the study indicated that the amount of consumable water in the treatment with 85-percent water need was reported to be 2420 square meters less than the control treatment. Furthermore, the water level of efficiency increased by 11 percent for the treatment with 85-percent water need. Hence, the study showed that irrigation with wastewater brings about a higher significant level of production for maize seeds rather than irrigation with well water.

Water-assisted production of honeycomb-like g-C3N4 with ultralong carrier lifetime and outstanding photocatalytic activity.

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is a visible light photocatalyst, limited by low activity mainly caused by rapid recombination of charge carriers. In the present work, honeycomb-like g-C3N4 was synthesized via thermal condensation of urea with addition of water at 450 °C for 1 h. Prolonging the condensation time caused the morphology of g-C3N4 to change from a porous honeycomb structure to a velvet-like nanoarchitecture. Unlike in previous studies, the photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4 decreased with increasing surface area. The honeycomb-like g-C3N4 with a relatively low surface area showed highly enhanced photocatalytic activity with an NO removal ratio of 48%. The evolution of NO2 intermediate was dramatically inhibited over the honeycomb-like g-C3N4. The short and long lifetimes of the charge carriers for honeycomb-like g-C3N4 were unprecedentedly prolonged to 22.3 and 165.4 ns, respectively. As a result, the honeycomb-like g-C3N4 was highly efficient and stable in activity and could be used repeatedly. Addition of water had the following multiple positive effects on g-C3N4: (1) formation of the honeycomb structure, (2) promotion of charge separation and migration, (3) enlargement of the band gap, (4) increase in production yield, and (5) decrease in energy cost. These advantages make the present preparation method for highly efficient g-C3N4 extremely appealing for large-scale applications. The active species produced from g-C3N4 under illumination were confirmed using DMPO-ESR spin-trapping, the reaction intermediate was monitored, and the reaction mechanism of photocatalytic NO oxidation by g-C3N4 was revealed. This work could provide an attractive alternative method for mass-production of highly active g-C3N4-based photocatalysts for environmental and energetic applications.

Synthesis of Biodiesel Using a Two-compartments Electrochemical Cell

Abstract An electrochemical method was developed for biodiesel, i.e., fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), production. A two-compartment cell completed with a cation-exchange separating membrane was utilized to minimize recombination between protons and hydroxide or methoxide ions, which leads to the low product yield. In addition to the product yield increase, the method was found to reduce the requirement of organic salt to be only in the cathode chamber. Electrolysis at low voltage (4.6 V) resulting high product yield (ca. 94% in 2 h) at Pt as well as a boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode as the cathode, suggested the system was free from the dependence on electrode types.

Enhanced transient recombinant protein production in CHO cells through the co-transfection of the product gene with Bcl-xL.

Transient gene expression is gaining popularity as a method to rapidly produce recombinant proteins in mammalian cells. Although significant improvements have been made, in terms of expression, more improvements are needed to compete with the yields achievable in stable gene expression. Much progress has come from optimization of transfection media and parameters, as well as altering culturing conditions to enhance productivity. Recent studies have included cell lines engineered for apoptosis resistance through the constitutive expression of an anti-apoptotic protein, Bcl-xL. In this study, we examine an alternative method of using the benefits of anti-apoptotic gene expression to enhance the transient expression of biotherapeutics, namely, through the co-transfection of Bcl-xL and the product-coding gene. CHO-S cells were co-transfected with the product-coding gene and a vector containing Bcl-xL using polyethylenimine. Cells co-transfected with Bcl-xL showed reduced levels of apoptosis, increased specific productivity, and an overall increase in product yield of approximately 100%. Similar results were produced by employing another anti-apoptotic protein, Bcl-2 delta, in CHO cells, or through the co-transfection with Bcl-xL using HEK-293E cells. This work provides an alternative method for increasing yields of therapeutic proteins in TGE applications without generating a stable cell line and subsequent screening, which are both time- and resource-consuming. An expert system for predicting orchard yield and fruit quality and its impact on the Persian lime supply chain

In recent years academics and industrials have shown an interest in agricultural systems and their complex and non-linear nature, aiming to improve production yield in the agricultural field. Innovative strategies and methodological frameworks are thus required to assist farmers in decision making for an efficient and effective resource management. In particular, this research concerns the structural problem of the Persian lime supply chain in Mexico, which still leads to low production yield over short time periods with heterogeneous fruit quality and also to the emergence of excessive middleman businesses arising from a fragmentation between orchard and exporting companies that constitute the first two links in the associated supply chain. Based on the Persian lime production cycle, an Expert System (ES) using Fuzzy Logic involving an inference engine with IF—THEN type rules is presented in this paper. A Mamdani model codifies the decision criteria related to agricultural practices for growing Persian lime in non-irrigated orchards. The ES allows the farmer to boost production in orchards by modeling application scenarios for agricultural practices. A case study based on an exporting company׳s fruit supply is discussed, in which the ES proves to be a useful tool to aid the decision making involved in the application of agricultural practices in the orchard. Results show an increase in production yield and fruit quality in the orchard, as well as a better synchronization between orchard and exporting companies, with a significant impact on inventory levels of fresh fruit in the link Persian lime exporting company.

Collismycin A biosynthesis in Streptomyces sp. CS40 is regulated by iron levels through two pathway-specific regulators

Two putative pathway-specific regulators have been identified in the collismycin A gene cluster: ClmR1, belonging to the TetR-family, and the LuxR-family transcriptional regulator ClmR2. Inactivation of clmR1 led to a moderate increase of collismycin A yields along with an early onset of its production, suggesting an inhibitory role for the product of this gene. Inactivation of clmR2 abolished collismycin A biosynthesis, whereas overexpression of ClmR2 led to a fourfold increase in production yields, indicating that ClmR2 is an activator of collismycin A biosynthesis. Expression analyses of the collismycin gene cluster in the wild-type strain and in ΔclmR1 and ΔclmR2 mutants confirmed the role proposed for both regulatory genes, revealing that ClmR2 positively controls the expression of most of the genes in the cluster and ClmR1 negatively regulates both its own expression and that of clmR2. Additionally, production assays and further transcription analyses confirmed the existence of a higher regulatory level modulating collismycin A biosynthesis in response to iron concentrations in the culture medium. Thus, high iron levels inhibit collismycin A biosynthesis through the repression of clmR2 transcription. These results have allowed us to propose a regulatory model that integrates the effect of iron as the main environmental stimulus controlling collismycin A biosynthesis.

New manganese porphyrin as biomimetic catalyst of cyclohexane oxidation: Effect of water or imidazole as additives

This work describes the synthesis and characterization of the novel catalyst 5-(3-bromo,4-amino)phenyl-10,15,20-trisphenyl-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octabromoporphyrinmanganese(III) chloride (MnIIIBr9APTPPCl). This compound, MnIIIAPTPPCl and MnIIITPPCl were employed as catalysts in cyclohexane oxidation using PhIO or PhI(OAc)2 as oxidants. In the reactions with PhIO and PhI(OAc)2, MnIIIBr9APTPPCl led to higher yields of products compared to the other catalysts. Furthermore, for the first time it was observed a recovery of the third generation (β-octabrominated) catalyst in reactions using PhI(OAc)2 as oxidant. Reactions were performed with the addition of imidazole or water as additives. The reactions with imidazole showed higher yields for cyclohexanol in all systems studied. For systems using PhIO it was also observed a decrease of catalysts oxidative destruction. All the systems using PhIO and water led to an increase in product yield. However, the recovery of catalyst was low for almost all these systems. Nevertheless, this is the first work to show the role of water as an effective additive in the oxidation of cyclohexane catalyzed by manganese porphyrins.

Skeletal Reorganization of Enynes Catalyzed by a Ru(II)–Ru(III) Mixed-valence Complex under an Atmosphere of O2 or CO

Abstract A mixed-valence Ru(II)–Ru(III) complex was used to catalyze the skeletal reorganization of 1,6-enynes, leading to the production of 1-vinylcyclopentene derivatives. The reaction proceeded optimally in an atmosphere of O2 or CO. The presence of an alkyl group at the internal olefinic carbon in the starting enyne resulted in an increase in product yield compared to that bearing no substituent on the olefin moiety.

Systems metabolic engineering of xylose‐utilizing Corynebacterium glutamicum for production of 1,5‐diaminopentane

The sustainable production of industrial platform chemicals is one of the great challenges facing the biotechnology field. Ideally, fermentation feedstocks would rather rely on industrial waste streams than on food-based raw materials. Corynebacterium glutamicum was metabolically engineered to produce the bio-nylon precursor 1,5-diaminopentane from the hemicellulose sugar xylose. Comparison of a basic diaminopentane producer strain on xylose and glucose feedstocks revealed a 30% reduction in diaminopentane yield and productivity on the pentose sugar. The integration of in vivo and in silico metabolic flux analysis by (13) C and elementary modes identified bottlenecks in the pentose phosphate pathway and the tricarboxylic acid cycle that limited performance on xylose. By the integration of global transcriptome profiling, this could be specifically targeted to the tkt operon, genes that encode for fructose bisphosphatase (fbp) and isocitrate dehydrogenase (icd), and to genes involved in formation of lysine (lysE) and N-acetyl diaminopentane (act). This was used to create the C. glutamicum strain DAP-Xyl1 icd(GTG) Peftu fbp Psod tkt Δact ΔlysE. The novel producer, designated DAP-Xyl2, exhibited a 54% increase in product yield to 233 mmol mol(-1) and a 100% increase in productivity to 1 mmol g(-1) h(-1) on the xylose substrate. In a fed-batch process, the strain achieved 103 g L(-1) of diaminopentane from xylose with a product yield of 32%. Xylose utilization is currently one of the most relevant metabolic engineering subjects. In this regard, the current work is a milestone in industrial strain engineering of C. glutamicum. Quality Control Concepts in the Manufacture of Masonry Blocks for Building Project Delivery

This research work was undertaken to assess the application of quality control concepts in the production of masonry blocks for building projects in Imo State, Nigeria. The study was embarked upon in order to examine the different types of masonry blocks produced in the state, and to assess the level of quality control concepts applied in their production processes, using selected block industries in Owerri Municipality. The study also was aimed at finding out the educational qualifications of the workers at those block industries. The research was an attempt to search for answers to the problem of building and infrastructural collapse that has become rampant in Nigeria recently. Data for the research was collected through the views of the staff and management of the case study block industries and data analysis which was carried out by the use of percentages and frequency tables and chi-square statistical tool, revealed that the problem of low quality masonry blocks used in building projects were due to several latent factors like time lag between mixing and placing of mix into mould; mould of placing mix into mould before compaction; type of cement; and inappropriate sand-cement-water mixture ratio. These things were found to have great and decisive effects on the ultimate strength and quality of the building blocks. The research also revealed that poor mixing of cement, sand and water, lack of quality control measures and low quality sand were responsible for low quality blocks in many block producing small and medium scale industries. This situation is contributing to building and infrastructural collapse. The study therefore recommends that quality control concepts should be applied in the production of masonry blocks. The use of acceptance sampling tests for all the raw materials used in masonry block production and application of control-chart for work-in-process should be adopted. The pre-process, in- process, and post-process inspections and testings must be carried out for the production and standardization of high- quality building blocks before the products are made available to the customer. In the block industry, the quality control methods used for inspection and testing for quality control are screening or 100% inspection, sampling or lot by lot inspection and process inspection. The application of quality control in the block industry should cover the whole production process right from the raw material stage to the finished product. The control areas should start with the control of raw materials, in process control, control of finished products, visual control and physical control which has to do with quality control tests. Proper control measures in the manufacturing process should result in the following:  Decrease in reject rate and increase in product quality.  Reduction in price of products hence better value for money.  Increase in product yield which should make economic mass production possible.  Reduction in production and distribution/delivery cost.  Good reputation for the industry and improved.

Reactions of Microsolvated Organic Compounds at Ambient Surfaces: Droplet Velocity, Charge State, and Solvent Effects

The exposure of charged microdroplets containing organic ions to solid-phase reagents at ambient surfaces results in heterogeneous ion/surface reactions. The electrosprayed droplets were driven pneumatically in ambient air and then electrically directed onto a surface coated with reagent. Using this reactive soft landing approach, acid-catalyzed Girard condensation was achieved at an ambient surface by directing droplets containing Girard T ions onto a dry keto-steroid. The charged droplet/surface reaction was much more efficient than the corresponding bulk solution-phase reaction performed on the same scale. The increase in product yield is ascribed to solvent evaporation, which causes moderate pH values in the starting droplet to reach extreme values and increases reagent concentrations. Comparisons are made with an experiment in which the droplets were pneumatically accelerated onto the ambient surface (reactive desorption electrospray ionization, DESI). The same reaction products were observed but differences in spatial distribution were seen associated with the "splash" of the high velocity DESI droplets. In a third type of experiment, the reactions of charged droplets with vapor phase reagents were examined by allowing electrosprayed droplets containing a reagent to intercept the headspace vapor of an analyte. Deposition onto a collector surface and mass analysis showed that samples in the vapor phase were captured by the electrospray droplets, and that instantaneous derivatization of the captured sample is possible in the open air. The systems examined under this condition included the derivatization of cortisone vapor with Girard T and that of 4-phenylpyridine N-oxide and 2-phenylacetophenone vapors with ethanolamine.

Chitosan/carrageenan nanoparticles: Effect of cross-linking with tripolyphosphate and charge ratios

Chitosan/carrageenan/tripolyphosphate nanoparticles were prepared by polyelectrolyte complexation/ionic gelation, the latter compound acting as cross-linker. The incorporation of the three components in the nanoparticle matrix was assessed by analytical techniques (FTIR, XPS and TOF-SIMS).Using chitosan/carrageenan nanoparticles as control, the effect of the cross-linker in the particles properties was studied. A decrease in size (from 450–500nm to 150–300nm) and in zeta potential (from +75 – +85mV to +50 – +60mV), and an increase in production yield (from 15–20% to 25–35%), and in stability (from one week to up to 9 months) were observed. Also, a correlation between positive to negative charge ratios in the formulations and the above characteristics was established.The small size and high positive surface charge make the developed chitosan/carrageenan/tripolyphosphate nanoparticles potential tools for an application in mucosal delivery of macromolecules.

Synthesis of Polyhydroxyalkanoates by Polymerization of Methyl 3-Hydroxypropionate in the Catalysis of Lipase

The polymerization of methyl 3-hydroxypropionate as monomer catalyzed by lipase was selected as a model system in this study. The monomer with the purity around 95% could be polymerized to polyhydroxyalkanoates in the catalysis of Novozym 435. Decreasing the reaction pressure would result in the increase of product yield and high molecular weight. By choosing appropriate organic solvents, surfactants and reaction pressure, the molecular weight of polyhydroxy propionate polyester could be controlled from 1800 to 13000 ( M w value). The reusing ability of enzymatic catalyst was comparatively good. The relative activity could be maintained above 95% after 6 repeated batches reaction. 以 3-羟基丙酸甲酯为聚合单体, 建立了以固定化脂肪酶 Novozym 435 为催化剂的酶催化缩聚反应体系, 合成可完全降解的高分子聚酯聚羟基丙酸酯, 考察了反应条件和介质对反应性能的影响, 结果表明, 纯度大于 95% 的单体即可在温和条件下合成聚羟基羧酸酯; 降低反应压力可有效提升产物产率和分子量. 通过选择合适的有机溶剂介质和表面活性剂, 可使产物分子量提升至 13000 ( M w ) 以上. 脂肪酶催化剂重复利用能力优异, 经 6 批次反应后, 其相对活性保持在 95% 以上. A convenient enzyme-catalyzed polymerization route for polyhydroxypropionate synthesis was established, by which the polyester could be obtained directly by enzyme-catalyzed polycondensation using inexpensive chemical monomers.

Protein trafficking, ergosterol biosynthesis and membrane physics impact recombinant protein secretion in Pichia pastoris

BackgroundThe increasing availability of 'omics' databases provide important platforms for yeast engineering strategies since they offer a lot of information on the physiology of the cells under diverse growth conditions, including environmental stresses. Notably, only a few of these approaches have considered a performance under recombinant protein production conditions. Recently, we have identified a beneficial effect of low oxygen availability on the expression of a human Fab fragment in Pichia pastoris. Transcriptional analysis and data mining allowed for the selection of potential targets for strain improvement. A first selection of these candidates has been evaluated as recombinant protein secretion enhancers.ResultsBased on previous transcriptomics analyses, we selected 8 genes for co-expression in the P. pastoris strain already secreting a recombinant Fab fragment. Notably, WSC4 (which is involved in trafficking through the ER) has been identified as a novel potential target gene for strain improvement, with up to a 1.2-fold increase of product yield in shake flask cultures. A further transcriptomics-based strategy to modify the yeast secretion system was focused on the ergosterol pathway, an aerobic process strongly affected by oxygen depletion. By specifically partially inhibiting ergosterol synthesis with the antifungal agent fluconazole (inhibiting Erg11p), we tried to mimic the hypoxic conditions, in which the cellular ergosterol content was significantly decreased. This strategy led to an improved Fab yield (2-fold) without impairing cellular growth. Since ergosterol shortage provokes alterations in the plasma membrane composition, an important role of this cellular structure in protein secretion is suggested. This hypothesis was additionally supported by the fact that the addition of non-ionic surfactants also enhanced Fab secretion.ConclusionsThe current study presents a systems biotechnology-based strategy for the engineering of the industrially important yeast P. pastoris combining the use of host specific DNA microarray technologies and physiological studies under well defined environmental conditions. Such studies allowed for the identification of novel targets related with protein trafficking and ergosterol biosynthesis for improved recombinant protein production. Nevertheless, further studies will be required to elucidate the precise mechanisms whereby membrane biogenesis and composition impact on protein secretion in P. pastoris.

Self-Inducible Bacillus subtilis Expression System for Reliable and Inexpensive Protein Production by High-Cell-Density Fermentation

A novel technically compliant expression system was developed for heterologous protein production in Bacillus subtilis with the aim of increasing product yields at the same time as decreasing production costs. Standard systems involve the positively regulated manP promoter of the mannose operon, which led to relatively high product yields of 5.3% (5.3 g enhanced green fluorescent protein [eGFP] per 100 g cell dry weight [CDW]) but required large quantities of mannose to induce the reactions, thus rendering the system's technical application rather expensive. To improve this situation, mutant B. subtilis strains were used: the ΔmanA (mannose metabolism) strain TQ281 and the ΔmanP (mannose uptake) strain TQ356. The total amount of inducer could be reduced with TQ281, which, however, displayed sensitivity to mannose. An inducer-independent self-induction system was developed with TQ356 to further improve the cost efficiency and product yield of the system, in which glucose prevents induction by carbon catabolite repression. To create optimal self-induction conditions, a glucose-limited process strategy, namely, a fed-batch process, was utilized as follows. The initiation of self-induction at the beginning of the glucose-restricted transition phase between the batch and fed-batch phase of fermentation and its maintenance throughout the glucose-limiting fed-batch phase led to a nearly 3-fold increase of product yield, to 14.6%. The novel B. subtilis self-induction system thus makes a considerable contribution to improving product yield and reducing the costs associated with its technical application.

Comparative13C Metabolic Flux Analysis of Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex-Deficient,l-Valine-Producing Corynebacterium glutamicum

L-Valine can be formed successfully using C. glutamicum strains missing an active pyruvate dehydrogenase enzyme complex (PDHC). Wild-type C. glutamicum and four PDHC-deficient strains were compared by (13)C metabolic flux analysis, especially focusing on the split ratio between glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP). Compared to the wild type, showing a carbon flux of 69% ± 14% through the PPP, a strong increase in the PPP flux was observed in PDHC-deficient strains with a maximum of 113% ± 22%. The shift in the split ratio can be explained by an increased demand of NADPH for l-valine formation. In accordance, the introduction of the Escherichia coli transhydrogenase PntAB, catalyzing the reversible conversion of NADH to NADPH, into an L-valine-producing C. glutamicum strain caused the PPP flux to decrease to 57% ± 6%, which is below the wild-type split ratio. Hence, transhydrogenase activity offers an alternative perspective for sufficient NADPH supply, which is relevant for most amino acid production systems. Moreover, as demonstrated for L-valine, this bypass leads to a significant increase of product yield due to a concurrent reduction in carbon dioxide formation via the PPP.

Engineering secondary metabolite production in hairy roots

Plants are a rich source of valuable secondary metabolites. Plant cell culture technologies developed in the past as possible tools for secondary metabolites production. In most cases, for the large scale production of these compounds, production is too low for commercialization. The cultured cell suspensions being undifferentiated have not gained momentum because of their instability and non-uniformity of the product formation. Secondary metabolite production is under strict metabolic regulation and tissue specific localization. Hence the differentiated cultures such as hairy root cultures are widely studied. Agrobacterium rhizogenes causes hairy root disease in plants. Transformed roots produced by A. rhizogenes infection are characterized by high growth rate, genetic stability and growth in hormone free media. These genetically transformed root cultures can produce amounts of secondary metabolites comparable to that of intact plants. Elicitation of hairy roots leads to increased production of secondary metabolites and also helps in designing of metabolic traps to allow adsorption of product, preventing feedback inhibition and protection of metabolites from degradation in the culture media. Permeabilization and in situ product adsorption result in many fold increase in product yield. T- DNA activation tagging allows overexpressing the respective gene and increasing the product formation in transformed hairy roots. Recent progress in transgenic research has opened up the possibility of the metabolic engineering of biosynthetic pathways to produce high-value secondary metabolites. Metabolic engineering offers promising perspectives to improve yields; however it requires the understanding of the regulation of the secondary metabolite pathways involved in the regulation of levels of product, enzymes and genes, including aspects as transport and compartmentation. This article reviews the recent advances in secondary metabolites production in transformed hairy roots.

Study on the liquefaction of Shengli lignite with NaOH/methanol

Abstract The behavior of liquefaction of Shengli (SL) lignite with NaOH–methanol was studied. Based on high content of water in lignite and the economy of the process (amounts of NaOH used), the effects of NaOH concentration, methanol content and water content on the liquefaction behavior of SL lignite were preliminarily investigated. The results show that SL lignite has a good reaction activity, and its conversion and product yield reach 98% and 99% at 300 °C for 1 h respectively, when the ratio of SL lignite, NaOH and methanol is for 1 g:1 g:10 ml. NaOH participates in the reaction. The increase of the amount of NaOH significantly increases the amount of tetrahydrofuran soluble (THFS) fraction. Methanol plays a promotion role in the liquefaction, which makes the product yield increase for about 16–23%. Water content has little effect on the SL lignite conversion, product yield and the product distribution. Solvent-extraction components of liquefaction products of SL lignite with NaOH–methanol are mainly THFS, toluene soluble (TS), hexane soluble (HS) and water soluble fractions (WS). The FTIR analyses of solvent-extraction components show that all of the fractions contain OH group, aromatic structure, carbonyl group and aromatic ether oxygen group.

Bipolar membrane electrodialysis in an organic medium: Production of methyl methoxyacetate

To produce methyl methoxyacetate in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, bipolar membrane electrodialysis is proposed to convert methyl chloroacetate into methyl methoxyacetate in an organic medium—methanol. The results indicate that as current density increases, the product yield increases, but the current efficiency decreases. Besides, as methyl chloroacetate concentration increases, both the product yield and current efficiency increase; i.e., the product concentration increases from 1.08 to 6.59 mmol dm −3, and the current efficiency increases from 2.6% to 15.7%.
