Pendampingan Reading Comprehension Menggunakan Komik Digital Di SMP Alquraniyah Nurul Huda Oku Timur

The learning process would be effectively when supported by various planning, including the use and utilization of instructional media. Instructional media were employed to facilitate the process of understanding information and convey learning messages. Identifying the appropriate instructional media can influence the achievement of the teaching and learning process. SMP Alquraniyah Nurul Huda Martapura was a school unit that is relatively newly established, and thus, the teaching and learning process still requires methods that can support students' progress. The main issues identified in this community service activity were: 1) a lack of utilization of digital technology in delivering learning materials in the classroom, 2) the teaching process mostly relies on conventional methods, and 3) the English language background of the partners was weak. In addressing these challenges, the wrtiter utilized digital comic media, which considered more engaging for students due to its colorful and attractive visuals. The results achieved in this community service activity include a significant improvement in the reading skills of SMP Alquraniyah Nurul Huda students, as evidenced by their reading practice results after several days of learning to read Narrative Text using Digital Comic Media.

FinMem: A Performance-Enhanced LLM Trading Agent with Layered Memory and Character Design

Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have exhibited notable efficacy in question-answering (QA) tasks across diverse domains. Their prowess in integrating extensive web knowledge has fueled interest in developing LLM-based autonomous agents. While LLMs are efficient in decoding human instructions and deriving solutions by holistically processing historical inputs, transitioning to purpose-driven agents requires a supplementary rational architecture to process multi-source information, establish reasoning chains, and prioritize critical tasks. Addressing this, we introduce FinMem, a novel LLM-based agent framework devised for financial decision-making. It encompasses three core modules: Profiling, to customize the agent's characteristics; Memory, with layered message processing, to aid the agent in assimilating hierarchical financial data; and Decision-making, to convert insights gained from memories into investment decisions. Notably, FinMem's memory module aligns closely with the cognitive structure of human traders, offering robust interpretability and real-time tuning. Its adjustable cognitive span allows for the retention of critical information beyond human perceptual limits, thereby enhancing trading outcomes. This framework enables the agent to self-evolve its professional knowledge, react agilely to new investment cues, and continuously refine trading decisions in the volatile financial environment. We first compare FinMem with various algorithmic agents on a scalable real-world financial dataset, underscoring its leading trading performance in stocks. We then fine-tuned the agent's perceptual span and character setting to achieve a significantly enhanced trading performance. Collectively, FinMem presents a cutting-edge LLM agent framework for automated trading, boosting cumulative investment returns.

The media-psychological model of environmental risk perception

The article presents the results of a theoretical analysis on the topic of media-psychological aspects of the perception of environmental risks and the presentation of the author's media psychological model of the impact of media messages on the perception of environmental risks. The presented model examines the processes and stages involved in the initial encounter with environmental risk messages in the media and the further outcomes of their processing which can manifest in information-seeking behaviour. According to the presented model, changes in risk perception are considered a series of stages initiated by attention to information and can continue when information-seeking behaviour is triggered. The main models relied on by the author of this study are the Limited Capacity Model of Motivated Mediated Message Processing to describe media message processing and the Risk Information Search and Processing Model to describe aspects of information-seeking behaviour. Several additional communication models dedicated to the consideration of information behaviour and processing of media messages were also used to describe the processes of mass media influence on the perception of environmental risks. Thus, dual models of information processing and persuasive communication are also considered, including the Heuristic-Systematic Model and the Elaboration Likelihood Model, as well as additional theories examining information-seeking behaviour: the Theory of Motivated Information Management and the Planned Risk Information Seeking Model

Can you picture it? Effects of positive and negative depictions of climate futures on climate action intentions

Media messages about climate change are often negative, depicting dire future consequences if action is not taken. While the fear elicited by such messages may motivate audiences, there is growing evidence that hope is also an important driver of engagement in climate action. We conducted a pre-registered experiment with U.S. adults to examine how depictions of positive and negative climate futures (separately and in combination) impact climate action intentions through emotions, counterarguing, and ability to imagine a positive future. We also examined collective efficacy and government efficacy as moderators. Findings shed light on the under-researched impacts of positive climate messaging, revealing benefits as well as risks. Moreover, results highlight the potential for counterarguing to hinder desirable responses to climate futures messaging, offer insights into effects of messages featuring both positive and negative elements, and point to the importance of audiences’ pre-existing government and collective efficacy beliefs in the processing of climate messages.

Flextory: Flexible Software Factory of IoT Data Consumers.

The success of the Internet of Things (IoT) has driven the development, among others, of many different software architectures for producing, processing, and analyzing heterogeneous data. In many cases, IoT applications share common features, such as the use of a platform or middleware, also known as message broker, that collects and manages data traffic between endpoints. However, in general, data processing is very dependent on the case study (sensors that send temperature data, drones that send images, etc.). Thus, the applications responsible for receiving and processing data, which we call consumers, have to be built ad hoc, since some of their elements have to be specially configured to solve specific needs of the case study. This paper presents Flextory, a software factory tool to make it easier for IoT developers to automatically construct configurable consumer applications, which we call FLEX-consumers. Flextory guides developers through the process of generating Java consumers by selecting some desired features such as, for instance, the particular communication protocol to be used. This way, the developer only has to concentrate on designing the algorithm to process the data. In short, the use of Flextory will result in consumer applications with configurable behavior, namely FLEX-consumers, that can connect to a messaging server (for example RabbitMQ) and process the received messages.

Decentralized deconfliction of aerial robots in high intensity traffic structures

AbstractProjections for future air mobility envisage intensely utilized airspace that does not simply scale up from existing systems with centralized air traffic control. This paper considers the implementation and test of a software and hardware framework for decentralized control of aerial vehicles within intensely used airspace. Up to 10 rotary wing vehicles of maximum all up mass of are flown in an outdoor volume with length scale of with GPS and WiFi connectivity. Flight control is implemented using a Pixhawk 4 flight controller running the PX4 firmware with guidance algorithms run on a separate onboard companion computer. Deconfliction is implemented using a simple elastic repulsion model with a guidance update rate of . Traffic structures are constructed from a path of directed waypoints and associated cross sectional geometry. Junctions are implemented when two paths converge into one or when one path diverges into two. Agents engage with structures through execution of flow, merge and swirl velocity rules. Calibration experiments showed that the worst case latency in agents sharing position information was of the order of made up from delays due to finite guidance update rate, WiFi processing and centralized message processing. A choice of vehicle cruise speed of and conflict radius of provided an acceptable compromise between experiment time efficiency (speed) and spatial efficiency (resolution) within the test volume. Results from recirculating junction experiments show that peak deconfliction activity occurs at the junction node, however biased distribution of agents within a corridor means the peak intensity is pushed ahead of the node. Use of meshed helical junction structures significantly reduces the intensity of conflict at the expense of reduced junction time efficiency.

A novel single-channel edge computing LoRa gateway for real-time confirmed messaging

LoRaWAN has become the technology of choice for increasing Internet of Things applications owing to its long range and low power consumption characteristics. However, in the uplink confirmed messaging cases, the entire retransmission could take several seconds, so it cannot be used in scenarios that require rapid confirmed messaging, such as emergency alerting and real-time controlling applications. Nevertheless, there has been limited work targeting this issue. This study presents a novel LoRaWAN gateway using edge computing to expedite the confirmed messaging process by generating the acknowledgment (ACK) locally, so that the confirmed messaging time can be significantly reduced. Additionally, the resource utilization of the network server can also be decreased due to the use of edge computing. We verified the effectiveness of our solution through extensive simulations and experiments. The confirmed messaging time between the end nodes and the gateway averaged 43 ms for a maximum of 2 retransmissions. With the adoption of edge computing on the gateway, the network server’s central processing unit (CPU), memory, and bandwidth peak utilization decrease from 53.51 to 39.46, 73.88 to 72.11%, and 4422.68 kbps to 3271.27 kbps, respectively. In addition, the network server’s system load decreases from 2.15 to 1.69, while the gateway cost is reduced by almost $\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$\\$$$\\end{document}38 compared to the benchmark products.

Differential-Linear Cryptanalysis of GIFT family and GIFT-based Ciphers

At CHES 2017, Banik et al. proposed a lightweight block cipher GIFT consisting of two versions GIFT-64 and GIFT-128. Recently, there are lots of authenticated encryption schemes that adopt GIFT-128 as their underlying primitive, such as GIFT-COFB and HyENA. To promote a comprehensive perception of the soundness of the designs, we evaluate their security against differential-linear cryptanalysis. For this, automatic tools have been developed to search differential-linear approximation for the ciphers based on S-boxes. With the assistance of the automatic tools, we find 13-round differential-linear approximations for GIFT-COFB and HyENA. Based on the distinguishers, 18-round key-recovery attacks are given for the message processing phase and initialization phase of both ciphers. Moreover, the resistance of GIFT-64/128 against differential-linear cryptanalysis is also evaluated. The 12-round and 17-round differential-linear approximations are found for GIFT-64 and GIFT-128 respectively, which lead to 18-round and 19-round key-recovery attacks respectively. Here, we stress that our attacks do not threaten the security of these ciphers.

Verifying Certificate Revocation Status for Short Key Lengths in Vehicle Communication Systems

This paper proposes and analyzes a ticket-based OCSP protocol for efficient certificate revocation checking in vehicle communication systems. The IEEE WAVE standard for vehicular networks requires real-time processing of Basic Safety Messages (BSMs) exchanged between vehicles. Traditional OCSP revocation checking can introduce delays. The proposed approach distributes OCSP responses as tickets valid for a road section. Vehicles use shorter keys extracted from the tickets for faster cryptographic processing. Experiments compare processing times for signature generation and verification with different elliptic curves. The results show the proposed technique provides faster revocation checking. This allows time-critical vehicle-to-vehicle message processing at high rates under computational constraints. The ticket-based OCSP mechanism enhances security while meeting real-time requirements in vehicular networks.

Architectural Framework and Feasibility of Internet of Things-Driven Mars Exploration via Satellite Constellations

This study outlines a technical framework for Internet of Things (IoT) communications on Mars, leveraging Long Range (LoRa) technology to connect Martian surface sensors and orbiting satellites. The designed architecture adapts terrestrial satellite constellation models to Martian environments and the specific needs of interplanetary communication with Earth. It incorporates multiple layers, including Martian IoT nodes, satellite linkage, constellation configuration, and Earth communication, emphasizing potential Martian IoT applications. The analysis covers four critical feasibility aspects: the maximum communication range between surface IoT nodes and orbiting satellites, the satellite constellation’s message processing capacity to determine IoT node volume support, the communication frequency and visibility of IoT nodes based on the satellite constellation arrangement, and the interplanetary data transmission capabilities of LoRa-based IoT devices. The findings affirm LoRa’s suitability for Martian IoT communication, demonstrating extensive coverage, sufficient satellite processing capacity for anticipated IoT node volumes, and effective data transmission in challenging interplanetary conditions. This establishes the framework’s viability for advancing Mars exploration and IoT in space exploration contexts.

Sustainable messaging strategies and consumer food waste: The congruence effect between message framing and state anxiety

Food waste has emerged as a significant global concern, exacerbated by the consistent rise in waste despite numerous attempts to mitigate it. As crucial information disseminators, food retailers and restaurants possess the potential to significantly impact consumers' food-saving behavior through meticulous design and effective dissemination of informational messaging strategies. Based on the Limited Capacity model of Motivated Mediated Message Processing, this study attempts to develop a conceptual model to assess the impact of message framing strategies on consumers' food saving intention, considering their varying levels of state anxiety. Three experiments were conducted to verify the hypotheses. The results revealed a matching effect between message framing and state anxiety on food savings. When businesses utilize sustainable advertisements to encourage food savings, approach-framed messages are more effective among consumers with heightened state anxiety, whereas avoidance framing demonstrates superior effectiveness among those with lower levels of state anxiety. Additionally, evaluative self-reactions mediate these matching effects, and memory efficacy plays a significant moderating role. The findings facilitate marketers in the proper employment of targeted message framing strategies based on consumers' varying levels of anxiety to prevent food waste.

Research on the Practice and Optimization of Advertising & Marketing Strategies for Food and Beverage Brands: Case Study on McDonald

McDonald's is one of the biggest food & beverage companies in the Chinese market, while other competitors always admired the advertising and marketing strategies of McDonald's. Using McDonald's viewed by a sample of consumers matching the Chinese market on communication and advertising, the author examined the content of advertisements from McDonald's. Through the participatory observation of the advertising of McDonald's, this research revealed that discounts, gifts, and puns, all contributed to the success of McDonald's. This research uncovers a mechanism for how strategies work to affect consumers' attitudes. In addition to the development of the brand, the development of McDonald's helped this research to elicit additional internal processing of the brand image construction. This has implications for the limited capacity model of motivated mediated message processing, as well as for marketers relating to the success of McDonald's, which recommended following an effective strategy in its advertising.

Conceptualizing evaluations of the political relevance of media texts: The Politically Relevant Media Model

Abstract Prior research acknowledges the potential implications of how media users evaluate media texts as being relevant to politics. Yet there are limitations to existing operationalizations of these evaluations due to how people use the words “politics” and “political.” What first appears as a measurement issue instead reveals a deficiency in the conceptualization of the evaluation being measured, as well as that evaluation’s relationships with its antecedents and consequences. This article fuses work from disparate fields such as political theory, media studies, media effects, and political communication to offer a multidimensional conceptualization of evaluations of the political relevance of media texts. It introduces the Politically Relevant Media Model (PRMM) connecting these evaluations to their text and user characteristic antecedents, as well as their cognitive, affective, and behavioral outcomes. Implications for various phenomena such as agenda setting, learning, selective exposure, message processing, narrative persuasion, reinforcing media spirals, and political polarization are discussed.

Look away now! Defensive processing and unrealistic optimism by level of alcohol consumption

Objective Health risk information is insufficient as a means of reducing alcohol use, particularly when it evokes negative emotional states amongst those for whom it is most personally relevant. Appraisal biases, or ‘defensive processing’, may be employed to mitigate the psychological discomfort posed by such information. Few studies have evaluated the role of defensive processing in people with different levels of alcohol consumption. Design Online participants (n = 597) completed measures of defensive processing of a health risk infographic, perceived susceptibility and severity of alcohol use, efficacy for resisting alcohol use, unrealistic optimism, the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test – Consumption (AUDIT-C) and demographics. Results AUDIT-C scores were positively and linearly associated with all defensive processing measures (Pearson’s correlation r from.16 to .36), threat and susceptibility (r = .16) and unrealistic optimism (r = .50). AUDIT-C scores were also negatively associated with efficacy for controlling alcohol use (r = −0.48). Conclusion People with alcohol use disorder (AUD) engaged in much more defensive processing of alcohol-related messages, offering an explanation for why such messages are limited at eliciting behaviour change. High levels of unrealistic optimism in people with alcohol use disorder may reflect low problem recognition in order to maintain a problem-free drinking identity.

Audiovisual presentation of variable message signs improves message processing in distracted drivers during partially automated driving

Introduction: Highly automated driving is expected to reduce the accident risk occurrence by human errors, but it can also increase driver distraction. Previous evidence shows that auditory signals can help drivers take over in critical situations. However, it is still uncertain whether the potential benefit of verbal auditory signals could be generalized to driving situations where drivers are visually and auditorily distracted. Method: Our first objective was to compare the effectiveness of complementary audio messages (audio + visual condition) and visual only (visual condition) variable message signs (VMS) messages. The second objective was to explore the potential use of oral messages with traffic information to help highly-automated vehicle drivers identify critical situations. Eye-tracking data were also registered. Twenty-four volunteers participated in a driving simulator study, completing two tasks: (a) a TV series task, where they had to pay attention to an episode of a TV series while traveling along the route; and (b) a VMS task, where they had to recover the manual control of the car if the VMS message was a ‘critical message.’ Results: General results showed that, when the audio was available, the participants: (a) had a higher ability to discriminate the VMS messages, (b) were less conservative, (c) responded earlier, and (d) their pattern of fixations was more efficient. A complementary analysis showed that the counterbalance order was a moderating factor for the discrimination ability and the response distance measures. This evidence suggests a potential learning effect, not cancelled by counterbalancing the order of the conditions. Conclusion: The processing of traffic messages may improve when provided as oral and visual messages. Practical Applications: These results would be of special interest for engineers designing highly automated cars, considering that the design of automated systems must ensure that the driver's attention is sufficient to take over control.

Framework Based on Simulation of Real-World Message Streams to Evaluate Classification Solutions

Analysing message streams in a dynamic environment is challenging. Various methods and metrics are used to evaluate message classification solutions, but often fail to realistically simulate the actual environment. As a result, the evaluation can produce overly optimistic results, rendering current solution evaluations inadequate for real-world environments. This paper proposes a framework based on the simulation of real-world message streams to evaluate classification solutions. The framework consists of four modules: message stream simulation, processing, classification and evaluation. The simulation module uses techniques and queueing theory to replicate a real-world message stream. The processing module refines the input messages for optimal classification. The classification module categorises the generated message stream using existing solutions. The evaluation module evaluates the performance of the classification solutions by measuring accuracy, precision and recall. The framework can model different behaviours from different sources, such as different spammers with different attack strategies, press media or social network sources. Each profile generates a message stream that is combined into the main stream for greater realism. A spam detection case study is developed that demonstrates the implementation of the proposed framework and identifies latency and message body obfuscation as critical classification quality parameters.

Measuring Gaze: Women’s Visual Processing of Empowerment and Objectification Messages in Empowerment-Themed Advertisements

Empowerment-themed advertisements (ETAs) often pair ostensibly empowering narratives with objectification imagery. Existing research demonstrates that women do not report feeling empowered after viewing ETAs but cannot confirm why. In this study, 186 female participants were randomly assigned to view captions and/or photos from ETAs while their eye movements were recorded. The empowerment-themed captions increased women’s felt empowerment when presented alone but failed to empower when paired with photos. However, captioning photos with empowerment-themed text did lead to lower self-objectification than captioning them with objectification-themed text. Thus, while the visuals used in ETAs limit their effectiveness, self-objectification may not be responsible.

Bibliographic Metaparatexts and the Author Function of Librarians

ABSTRACT: Through subject heading analysis of a popular culture franchise’s bibliographic records across its transmedia, library catalogers as well as metadata librarians are shown as authors of impactful metaparatext. In terms of reception studies, metaparatext intervenes in readers’ receptions of sought narratives. In this study, the Hellraiser franchise is chosen for rich subject analysis, providing one narrative mediated in books, VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, and graphic novels temporally across decades and assigned descriptive metadata, such as subject headings, by librarians. The subject analysis produces an accumulated narrative of metaparatext authored by cataloging and metadata librarians that attempts to describe the “aboutness” of the narrative text from the satellite positionality of bibliographic records—outside of the text, a paratext of aboutness. When it is acknowledged that librarians’ bibliographic services fulfill a paratextual author function in the process of text-to-reader reception, value is added to the field of bibliographic librarianship, and its impact on theories of reception and narratology is established. In this study, the analysis of Hellraiser ’s accumulated narrative produces a three-narrative structure, that of the patron’s narrative, the cataloger’s narrative, and the popularity and audience narrative. These three narratives mirror the messaging and reception process exhibited in the rhetorical triangle, producing the context for reader, author, and historicity or “the where” of reception. In situating bibliographic metadata as impactful metaparatext that intervenes in a reader’s reception of a narrative, this paper extends the research of library experts Jack Andersen, Rachel Sagner Buurma, Jon Shaw, and Roswitha Skare in its inclusion of reception studies and subject analysis lens of accumulated narrativity.

Adaptation of food guideline messages for the visually impaired in Lima, Peru: a validation experience.

This article aims to describe the design and validation process of food guideline messages written in the braille reading and writing system for people with visual impairment. The process involved the following stages: i) design and elaboration of the material containing the food guideline messages, as well as its adaptation to the format; ii) technical validation with representatives of the National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (CONADIS); and iii) operational validation through focus groups with children, adolescents and adults with visual disabilities who can read braille. The participants agreed on the legibility, clarity and comprehension of the messages and approved the format of the material. Finally, it should be noted that the participation of key informants and people with visual impairment in all stages was important for the development of an informative material with healthy eating messages in braille.
